*Bill's POV*

Eyes that sparkled with affection for life. A cute little bow atop her head that fluttered in the breeze.

She made my heart grow wings.

For some reason, this feeling that made me feel as if I was standing atop the ninth cloud in the scrolling sky… It reminded me ever so laughably of Scrooge, and the days before… well, the most recent Christmas Eve. How he'd always sigh and doze off from reality to dream of his girl. How he'd risk just about anything to keep her happy (and still would to this day). How he'd give everything to win her heart… and still would to this day.

Wait… That perfectly described every thought that went through my mind whenever I saw this Creeper girl, didn't it? Dear Notch…

This was it. I had been able to defend myself from this special twist in fate for so long, and… now…

She actually looked a bit… sad. The kind of sad that would be driven into her heart from some douche of a Creeper that was more of a douche than myself.

That had to be it.

Suddenly feeling the confidence surging back through me… that old confidence that I had truly missed for so long… I puffed out my chest and stepped up to her. The beautiful lady.

She caught sight of me pretty quickly, but… her expression didn't budge a single inch. She just kinda… looked at me. Hard to get? Mystery? Or…

"H-Hey," I smiled. "What's your name?"

"Lucy," she huffed. "What's it to ya?"

"Just wanted to know what name was bestowed upon such an angel," I chuckled, taking one bold step closer to her. "You from around here?"

"…N-No," she blushed. "I'm… actually from Steve's corner of the world."

The name Steve… Oh, if that hadn't flown right over my head…

My mouth just kinda flew here.

"What do you say we… meet?" I asked. "Get to… know each other better?"

Even I felt my stomach churn when I heard my own words fly out of my own Notch-forsaken mouth.

It was, however, entirely too late for me to come back from such an all-time low.

All of a sudden, Lucy swelled. Lucy swelled, also turning whiter and whiter.

Within a few seconds, my face was in the dirt. I didn't want to come up. The taste of dirt was actually a bit better than the taste of defeat that swirled through the air like seasoning to soup.

A few minutes later, I heard "Dude… You alright?"

I looked up. Great, now the sight of the man that had bent down to check on my condition reminded me of Scrooge.

Oh… Wait, that actually was Scrooge.

"…Not sure," I replied, sitting up. "…She's… gone, isn't she?"

"She died by self-impact," Scrooge reported, shaking his head and holding an absolutely pitiful look on his face. "Dude… You need help."

"Well, what of it?!" I retorted.

"Just…" Scrooge sighed, looking once more at the ground's newest crater. "Just… Do us all a favor and… just… let me know when you're going to try talking to a girl again. I'm already the best boyfriend that's ever walked this world. I'll also be the #1 wingman, helping you to work toward being the second best boyfriend that ever walked this world. And hey, #2 is better than #1,000,003."

"By a landslide," I droned. "…Fine. Lucy was seriously beautiful, though…"

If only time were a navigable pathway, rather than something intangible mixed in with the air…
