Chapter 54 Roads
15th January 1966
We'd been on the run for 4 days now. There had been no news from the police on her whereabouts but we were getting tired.
We stop at a gas station to get some gas.
"Right I'll get us some milk, diapers, cigarettes, baby milk and some biscuits. We'll get a proper meal tomorrow" Johnny gets out of the car and enters the 24 hour shop with Dan.
I get out and light the last cigarette. Lisa gets out stretching her legs, the kids sitting in the car.
"Baby we have to go back, I'm 7 months pregnant I can't keep doing this"
"We would be dead right now if we didn't run, your baby too" I retorted sick of Lisa complaining all the time.
"She might not even be after us! I'm not raising my child on the road!" Lisa shouted.
"Well go back then Lisa! I'm not risking my children's lives, so you can go alone!"
"Fuck you Baby"
"Whatever Lisa! GO BACK! OKAY? GO! I'M SICK AND TIRED OF YOU ACTING AS IF YOU DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE TO COME WITH US BECAUSE YOU DID! STOP PLAYING THE GODDAMN MARTYR YOU HAVE THE CHOICE IT'S YOUR LIFE! YOU'RE 23 YEARS OLD NOT A CHILD!" I get back into the car and slam the door.

"Right I'll take these heavy bags down to the car and then we'll go for some lunch okay?" Johnny kissed me on the cheek.
We were getting ready to leave the motel and head back on the road.
Benny ran in the room.
"Mummy!" h E CALLED.
I PICKED HIM UP.
"What's up Honey?" I asked.
"I want to go home" He said his lower lips quivering.
"Me too, sweetie. We'll be home soon!" I smiled.
"I miss my toys"
"They miss you too but they understand" I chuckled.
"BABY!" Johnny entered the room looking scared.
"Benny go play with Tia and Jayne" I usher him forward to the other room.
"What is it?" I run and take some paper out of his hand.
The note reads "YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE THIS TIME" Oddly enough it wasn't my mothers handwriting.
"It was on the car window" He said.
"We're going home" I replied grabbing the remaining bags.
