Yu looked melancholicly at his wrist where his braclet from Kanji rested. Smiling softly he stroked it as the pilot told everyone to prepare to land. Once off, Yu look around for his parents at the airport, but what he saw was a short young man with blonde hair who wore a fance white shirt with a rose sticking from it. The young man held a sign that read in Japanese Yu Narukami, to which Yu sighed and walked over to him. "Were they busy today?"
The young german nodded his head and responded in japanese in turn. "Yeah, they had a meeting at the school so they needed me to pick you up. I'm Theodore Bahr by the way. Pleasure to meet ya!" Theodore held out a hand to Yu who gawked at him. "Uh... you okay?" Theodore began to frown as Yu just stared at him silently.
'Oh my gosh, that voice! He sounds like Teddie!' looking away Yu began to think more about this until he realized, 'Oh no! I just met him and I'm just being quiet and weird!' Looking back to Theodore, Yu bowed in apology. "I am sorry, you just remind me of someone I know back home."
"Oh, really? Hope its a nice person." Theodore smiled broadly and motioned for Yu to follow him.
While the two were in a cab heading to the Snotra University Yu kept staring out the window thinking, while Theodore sat awkwardly grimacing at the ground. "So uh... your parents did mention you tend to be... um... quiet. Heh, didn't know you'd be this quiet though. Maybe its cause I'm a stranger right? Right?" Yu didn't notice Theodore and kept staring out the car window. "Yeah... um..."
'This is really bugging me, why does he sound so much like Teddie. Same tone of voice, same pronunciation, and he's freaking german! How is it they sound so similiar... his personality doesn't seem to be the same though, then again I only just met him so...' Yu looked back to Theodore who looked about ready to cry. "Oh no! I'm sorry! I was just thinking again!"
"Its okay, I understand. Talking to a stranger can be-" sniffling Theodore let out a sob. "Oh no! Keep it together Teddie, don't cry."
Yu's eye twitched as he heard the name. "I, thought your name was Theodore?"
"Huh, it is... Teddie is just a nickname." sniffling again, Theodore turned his head away from Yu. "I'm sorry, I can't stop. I've been such a bad host, and you just got here." sobbing againd Theodore through himself on the cab door and began crying more.
The cab driver looked back at them and stared confusedly about before looking back to the road. "Was ist da los? Muss ich mich überziehen?"
Theodore cleared his throat and shook his head. "Nein, es tut mir leid. Ich bin nur übermütig..." Sniffling once more, Theodore looked to Yu and smiled. "Sorry about that. I'll do better. I am the oldest between us. I should put on a better face."
"Wait... you're... older then me?" Yu looked the short youthful man up and down. "How old are you?"
"23." Theodore said looking embarrassed. "I know, I get it a lot here too that I look too young for my age..."
Yu sat back stared blankly for a moment. "But... you are so much shorter then me..."
Theodore winced at this and shrunk down into his seat. "I... I am 23! I have I.D. To prove it!" Theodore began rummaging through his pocket grumbling.
"No, no, its okay. Its just... I'm shocked is all." Yu watched as Theodore took out his license and showed it to him. "Um... I can only read the numbers..." Yu grimaced as Theodore smacked his head.
"Oh! I forgot you don't know much German! Dang it! Stupid Theodore! Stupid!" Theodore began beating his head on the driver's seat to which this was met with a long string of what could only be construed as obscenities. Theodore recoiled and covered his blushing face. "Oh no! I am sorry. I mean... Es tut mir leid!" Theodore held his head and cried more as he flailed about. "I am horrible!"
Yu sighed and held his head. 'You know, he's starting to remind me of Teddie a bit now... All this cause I was ignoring him for a bit while lost in thought... hate to see what would happen if a real insult happened to him...' Yu patted Theodore's shoulder and sighed. "Look, its okay. We just met, and I am in a strange country I've only been to on occasion. Just... relax okay?"
Theodore nodded as he began taking deep breaths. "Okay... I'm okay... I'm okay..."
Yu grimaced and rubbed Theodore's back as he began to let out hiccups. As they finally got to the college the two got out and were met with a woman who was slightly taller then Yu. Her hair was disheveled as she ran over to Yu, stuffing papers into her briefcase. "Hi sweet heart! Sorry we missed you. Your dad is still at the office talking with a student." Once she got up to the two she beamed down at Yu and hugged him tightly. "I'm so glad you aren't dead."
"Gee thanks mom..." Yu said as he hugged her back. "Got a lot to tell you once we get back to your apartment though."
"Aw, yes, of course. First though why don't we take you to dinner after... your dad... Theodore? Were you crying?"
"No, I was... I just..." Theodore's lipped quivered but before he could cry again he smacked his face and took a deep breath. "I did, I am sorry."
Crossing her arms, Yu's mom looked at Yu and shook her head. "What did you do?"
"I got lost in thought and may have snubbed some of his interactions with me at first." Yu rubbed the back of his head and looked to Theodore who was blushing again. "Its okay Theodore, I am sorry for bothering you."
"No I should apologize! I am a terrible host I shou-" before he could continue Yu's mom raised a finger to his lips.
"It's okay Theodore. You can come with us for dinner by the way. Don't let Yu's stand offishness put you off. Once he gets to know you he can be real sweet." Yu's mom looked over and waved at her husband who was running over.
"Sorry it took so long. Ready for dinner everyone?" Yu's dad said clasping his hands together.
Later that night as the family dropped Theodore off at his dorm Yu's parent both looked back at him. "So... Dojima told us what happened... seems either you two are pulling a prank or all you said is completely true about the tv world and everything... knowing my brother I am inclined to believe you." Yu's mom sighed and leaned back in her car seat as Yu's dad turned down a quiet little street.
"So... what are we gonna do about this? Dojima doesn't want to take you back after finding out, and I... don't know what would be a safe place for you."sighing, Yu's dad shook his head. "I can't believe it... that such fantastic things could even be theoretically entertained. And you've been doing this for months..." As they pulled into a parking lot, everyone remained in the car as Yu's dad turned on the light. Looking back at him he stared his son in the eyes. "What do you plan to do with all this?"
"I want to still help people... if I can. Its just, now that I may not go back to Inaba I'm a bit worried." Holding his chest Yu sighed and looked out his window towards a streetlamp. "I feel like something big is gonna happen in Inaba but... I don't know." Looking back to his parents he saw a concerned look on their faces. "You want me to stop... don't you."
"We'd like you too, but this is clearly important for you and you have been at it for a while. And it saves lives." Yu's mother sighed and leaned back into her chair. "I hate this though. Whether here or in Japan I'm sure you'll find someway to go out and put yourself in harms way to help others."
Yu looked down sadly and nodded. "Probably." Looking back out the window he saw two women standing by the streetlamp, but as he blinked they disappeared. "I have a feeling I'm gonna be getting involved with something else here soon enough as it is..."
