Shinigami-cat: Hey guys, time for another chapter. Hopefully it will me less depressing then the last one… I OWN NOTHING!
Marble Statue
A woman stood at the edge of Natron Lake. Her long sliver hair gently caressed the ground and tickled her heels. Her robe gently clung to her body, gently cradling the circular pendant around her neck. Her expression was as apathetic are her ice blue eyes.
She sighed softly at the almost tranquil scene before her. The light reflecting off the mirror-like surface hurt her eyes a little, but not too much.
She moved her hand over the water, causing ripples to appear as an object was slowly dragged out of the water. As she did this, the woman gently touched her pendant, rubbing her thumb over the glazed surface. Her actions betrayed her face. She was nervous.
Once the object was back on dry land she looked it over; a body covered in a thick, rough black, charcoal-like material. It could have been mistaken for a human body if not for the wings. It was Gilbert.
The woman crouched down next to Gilbert and ran her snow kissed hand across his cheek. Cold to the touch. It made her heart ache. She wanted to do more for him, so much more, but she couldn't. She had already pushed it enough.
She stood up and turned away. Someone else could help him. "I'm worry Gilbert… I can't save you this time… I'm a pretty horrible mother…"

Matthew sighed a little as he stomped to death yet another Necromorph. His life had become extremely dull ever since Gilbert had left a month ago. Even the jump scares in Dead Space didn't scare him anymore. It was boring now.
"Hey Kuma, anything interesting happen to you today?"
"I ate, slept, said hi to that cute Poodle next door… Clara I think her name is…"
"The neighbours have a boy poodle."
"Her name is Clara and she would like you to respect his life choices!"
Matthew chuckled a little and went back to his game. This was his life now. There wasn't much he could do about it anymore. It's not like he knew where Gilbert had run off to or if the angel would accept another apology from him.
The more he thought about it the more stupid he felt. He never wanted Gilbert to stay in the first place. He kept telling the angel to go away and made it clear that he didn't want any of the supernatural entering his home. There was no way Gilbert was going to come back of his own free will.
'… Oh well… I guess wherever he is he's doing okay… Maybe.'
"Are you still thinking about that asshole?" Asked the dog. There was a bit of malice in his voice.
Reaching a checkpoint in his game, Matthew exited to the main menu. "I can't help it… I just… I know he was a jerk, but he was nice enough sometimes… He made me… happy…"
"Happy?" Asked Kuma in shock. "He ate all the sugar, swore, acted like a dick and he almost killed you. You can't like him. What are you, a masochist?"
The blond blushed and shook his head. "No way… He might have been a jerk, but he made things interesting… And it… It made me happy… Happier then I've been in a long time… It didn't matter to me what he's done or what he was going to do… I just knew… I know I want to be with him… I want to be with Gilbert…"
The dog huffed a little. "You want to be with him? Think of the age difference."
"That doesn't matter to me!" Snapped Matthew. He quickly turned to face Kuma. "I don't care if he's a million, billion years old… I was happy enough to be with him…" He took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself a little. "I'm human so my life is the equivalent to a fly to him… He'll move on and forget about me, but knowing that I still want to be with him… And you know what hurts the most? He doesn't give a fuck about humans at all! I was just someone he lived with and now I'm not even that!"
His dog jumped off the bed and walked over to his distressed owner. "Hey… I didn't mean to make you cry… So just calm down a little, okay? I just wanted to understand why you were still pining after him…"
"I'm not pining after him…" Muttered Matthew as he quickly wiped away some tears he didn't realize he let slip. "I just… I really liked him… He fucked around with my life a lot, but he made up for it more then enough times…" He chuckled a little. "You know what's sad? Even after all this, if he came here and told me we were going to some far off place to kill a demon… I'd probably follow him…"
Kuma shook his head in disbelief. "I don't think I'll ever understand you."
"… Is this because you got fixed?"
"Damn right it's because I got fixed!" Snapped Kuma. "I'm fucking six years old and I sound like a puppy that's so excited to go for a walk that I pissed in the hallway! No dog should sound like this!"
"You got fixed so you wouldn't breed, spread diseases and other things."
The dog shook his head. "I could say so much about how there are so many humans that should also get fixed… Anyway, I'm hungry. Got any food?"
With a small smile, Matthew got up and walked to the kitchen. "You know you're just getting dog food, right?"
"I call bullshit." Growled the dog. "Some day we're going to switch things around. You can eat the dog food and I'll eat the people food… See how you like eating bland, crunchy ping snouts and assholes."
"I don't feed you that."
"Read the fucking label!" Snapped Kuma. "I know what an asshole looks like and I know what a snout looks like."
Matthew rolled his eyes and put a handful of dog biscuits into Kuma's food bowl. "Better?"
"I fucking hate you sometimes."
Matthew shrugged and poured himself some lemonade. Things were going to get better. He just had to get over it. He needed to go back to being content with his normal, average, simple life. He could do that. It wasn't so hard.
A sudden knock at the door caught Matthew off guard. He wasn't expecting anyone to come over. It was probably a girl scout or something. With a sigh, Matthew walked over to the door and answered it. Standing before him was Lovino.
"Oh."
"Oh?" Snapped the Oracle. "We haven't seen each other in ages and all you can say is oh?"
"Sorry…" Muttered Matthew. He stepped aside and let Lovino inside. "Come in. Make yourself at home. Want some water? How are you?"
Lovino quickly went inside and sat on the couch, removing his hood. "Water would be nice." He quickly ran his fingers through the thick horns and hair. "Fucking itchy… I think I'm starting to shed or something…"
Matthew quickly returned with Lovino's water. "Um… so… How are you?"
Lovino shrugged a little. "I'm Fine… Just trying hard to catch up for lost time with Feliciano…"
"Oh, so you reunited with your brother"
"Yeah…" Muttered the Oracle. "In all honesty I fucking hate that sausage eating German bastard… I fucking hate him…"
Matthew cocked his head in confusion. "So your brother knows Ludwig?"
"Yep…" Hissed Lovino. "Not only that, my brother got turned into a fucking vampire! Anyway, that's kind of why I'm here…"
"… Explain?"
Lovino sighed. "Let's see… Feliciano got all upset about stuff and begged me to help out and stuff… He said I might get a stronger psychic link if I got here and looked around and stuff… Plus I got a vision that I came here before I went to a different place…"
"… Right… So what are you after?"
"I am after Gilbert because Feliciano won't shut up about it."
Matthew's heart sunk in his chest. "Oh… Well you won't find him here… He ran off to god knows where…"
"It's fine…" Muttered Lovino. "I know he's run off. I wouldn't be here if he was still around. Fuck, Feliciano wouldn't be freaking the fuck out if he knew where he was! Fuck he freaks out over everything…."
"Oh… Well he's not here so you can just go…"
"I would, but it's a favour to my brother. I can't just say no to him..." Shaking his head a little, Lovino quickly downed the water that Matthew had supplied him with. "Anyway, want to help me out? It'll give you something to do for a few hours."
Matthew mulled it over in his mind a little. He kind of wanted to go and find Gilbert but then again he didn't want to. Things were complicated in his mind. "Um… well… I don't know…"
"Shut up. You know you want to. Get yourself some sunscreen. We're heading to one hell of a hot place so get ready for it."

In retrospect, Matthew should have brought along a water bottle too. It was way too hot out in Tanzania. "Um… So how did you bring us here exactly again?"
Lovino rolled his eyes. "I learnt some teleportation spells from a Belgium elf. It takes a lot of energy so I can only do it about two or three times a day."
"I see…" Muttered the blond. He looked around a little, seeing only dirt, yellow shrubs and a body of water. "So why are we here? Where's Gilbert?"
Lovino scanned the area along the lakes edge for few minutes before pointing to a shape. "There… See it?"
"… No."
"Of course not. Your eyesight is shit… Fuck you even wear glasses." The Oracle sighed and started to make his way towards the lake with Matthew quickly following.
As they got closer to the lake, Matthew noticed some odd looking bits of black drift wood along the edge. It was odd though, because there weren't any trees around to make the driftwood. It was possible that there might have been trees up river, but it seemed doubtful.
Lovino walked over to a rather large bit of driftwood and sighed. "I found Gilbert."
Confused, Matthew walked over to what Lovino was looking at. Laying on the ground was none other then Gilbert. He looked like he was covered in some kind of thick, charcoal material covering his body. "What happened to him?" Whispered Matthew in horror.
Lovino shrugged, nudging Gilbert's body with his foot. "This lake was made from the blood and tears of the Gorgons."
"Who?"
"Gorgon's… Um… think Medusa. Her and her sisters Sthenno and Euryale." Said Lovino. "All of them were the children of sea demons, could turn people to stone with their eyes and so on."
"Wasn't Medusa mortal?"
"Only according to later myth, besides the only way she could have been turned into something so monstrous was if she had monster blood in her to begin with. Anyway we are off topic." He crouched down next to Gilbert's body and gently picked away at the fragile stone reveling a more stunning and pristine black and white marble.
Although it looked beautiful it confused the hell out of Matthew. "Okay, what the hell? Is he dead?"
Lovino shrugged and continued to removed the black rock from Gilbert's body. "Angels and demons don't die from the same things as humans. This… it's equivalent to being in a coma… Ever heard of the Weeping Angels?"
"Yeah, from Doctor Who."
"Well this is kind of similar, but not really." Said Lovino calmly. "These are just angels stuck on earth that can't deal with trauma and decide to sleep it out for a few hundred years. They usually hang out in cemeteries because they are quiet."
Matthew nodded a little. "I see… anyway, what are we going to do with him now?"
"We'll just take him back to your place and decide what to do with him there." Said Lovino. "We can always put him on your backyard as a decoration."
"Lovino… I can't use him as decoration." Muttered Matthew.

After a small struggle, the pair managed to get Gilbert's marble form back to the house. Unsure of were to put him they placed him in the basement. Their next moved was slightly more complicated. They didn't really have much of an idea about what to do with him now.
"Is there anything we can do to wake him up?" Asked Matthew.
Lovino shrugged. "Not sure… I'll have to ask around a bit to find a cure or something for this… Most angels would just leave him to wake up… We could just do that…"
"But if we do that it could take thousands of years, right?" Asked Matthew. "I can't wait that long for him! I'll be dead!"
"Well your body anyway." Muttered Lovino.
"What?"
"Didn't that bastard tell you about what happens when you die?" Asked the Oracle. "If you haven't finished your soul purpose you get reborn in a few hundred years. If you have you get sent to Heaven or Hell."
"… I hope I never complete my soul purpose then… Neither of those places sound that fun…"
Lovino shrugged and made his way towards the front door. "Whatever. Anyway, I should go back and tell Feliciano that I found and brought back that marble asshole."
"Wait! What do I do with him in the meantime?"
"He's a fucking statue." Deadpanned the Oracle. "Dust him and keep birds from shitting on him. That's really all you can do."
Matthew sighed a little. Today was just one shit storm after another, and now that Gilbert was back, but a statue, Matthew really had no idea what to do. 'Shit… I hope Lovino can find some way to wake Gilbert up again…'
