I OWN NOTHING RELATED TO GILMORE GIRLS

"Mmm, don't tell me it's already morning." I groaned as Logan ran his hand along my bare back,

"Afraid it is Ace," he chuckled, my loathing morning was nothing new and he already had coffee on my nightstand.

"Coffee," I smiled as I sat up and took a big sip of my elixir of life,

"And Lena is already up and eating cereal in the kitchen,"

"Perfect, and I will be having a shower now." I put my robe on and snuck off to the bathroom, showering, blow drying my hair and I snuck back into the bedroom putting on my clothes for work,

"I can take Lena today, we don't have much at the office to work on today." Logan told me as I got Lena dressed for school,

"Okay, that sounds great. I really need to get going." I kissed Lena and Logan and grabbed my bag and purse before rushing out the door. I hurried to the office where I was greeted with a lot of smiles and "Good one Hayden."

"Hayden, my office front and center." My boss called for me as I walked past his door,

"Yes sir?" I asked,

"This," he dropped the newspaper in front of me, "Is the best piece of writing I have ever read. The Huntzburger piece? We actually got contact from the Huntzburger's publicist and they appreciated the little discussion on the youngest Huntzburger's stint in rehab. However," he dropped another magazine in front of me, "You missed that he has a kid with some brunette."

"What?" I demanded, grabbing the tabloid in front of me. It had a picture of me holding Lena and Logan had his hand on my back, "Shit."

"Accurate response. Who the hell is this slut?" he demanded,

"Its me."

I was pacing in my office, running my hands through my hair while my boss discussed with publicist what to do with this new found information and how to handle the release of my story, the news of our relationship and engagement was not yet made public knowledge and they planned on keeping it that way,

"Rory Hayden?" a woman approached my office,

"Yes?"

"Hi, I'm Kailey Williams. I'm the publicist for this company."

"Am I going to lose my job?"

"Of course not Ms. Hayden, I understand you're one of the top reporters for the Times. But we do have to make sure there is nothing too personal in the article. I have gone over it as has your editor and we find nothing inappropriate or anything any other reporter would not be able to identify. At this time we see no issues with you carrying on your relationship with Mr. Huntzburger and continuing at this paper."

"Thank God." I sighed, leaning down resting my hands on the desk,

"We will be having a meeting with Hunztburger publishing group to be certain that they have no issue with this as well. I wouldn't worry though Ms. Hayden." She assured me as she turned to leave, "Congratulations. It's a beautiful ring."

"Thank you," I smiled, and quickly pulled out my cell phone. "Logan?"

"Lena got to school fine, you really don't have to check up on me." He sighed,

"N-not why I'm calling."

"Ace, what's wrong?" he demanded,

"They know,"

"Who knows what? My parents, do they know?"

"No, my boss. My boss knows we're together, they have our publicist contacting yours right now."

"So what, who cares?"

"Logan, I wrote the article about you. They could say I used my personal relationship with you to gather information. I could lose my job."

"Okay, I won't let that happen. You wrote the majority of that before we got together. I'm going to contact the publicist immediately and get down there and deal with this. Okay, Ace? Don't worry. It'll be fine." He assured me, "I love you and Lena, I won't let anything happen to you."

"I love you too. Bye." I sighed, hanging up my phone and I got back down to business writing my newest article due by the end of the week. I couldn't help but chew on my thumb nail, a nervous habit, while trying to collect the information that I needed. After about three rather unproductive hours, I was called into my boss's office.

"Yes?" I asked at the door, Logan was sitting next to an overweight middle aged man in a suit and Kailey sat opposite them beside my boss with a reassuring smile,

"Please have a seat Rory." Kailey requested, I sat down and Logan gave me a subtle wink,

"Now we have discussed the situation with Mr. Huntzburger and Mr. Judge. We all agree the best thing to do for now is to keep this quiet. Huntzburger Publishing Company will not release a statement regarding the child-,"

"Lena." Logan and I corrected her,

"Excuse me?" Kailey asked,

"Lena, our daughter. Is Lena." Logan corrected her,

"You have a daughter together." Mr. Judge asked,

"Yes," I replied,

"Logan, you did not tell me this."

"I didn't know up until a few months ago, and it never affected my work or the company."

"Well it has not."

"As I was saying, the company will not release a statement regarding Lena or Rory. Now Mr. Huntzburger you said that the 2 of you are planning a wedding in a years' time."

"Yes, we are."

"I think at that time, we could get another reporter to do a piece on the three of you involving the wedding, the child-Lena, excuse me and at that time any questions about the piece will be long over. If the two of you are photographed together, Rory's face published in the tabloids we will deal with that then. I can say with utmost certainty Rory's job will not be at risk. Mr. Huntzburger has made certain of that."

"Thank you," I sighed,

"I can't have any more surprises Hayden. Anything pertaining to this relationship, if you're talking to any publications I need to know first and beforehand not after."

"Of course Sir. I apologize for the inconveniences." I apologized,

"Your excused." He stated bluntly, Logan looked like he was going to say something but I slightly shook my head and he stopped,

"Ms. Hayden, my card is anyone tries to contact you from any publication." Kailey handed me her business card, scribbled on the back was "I can handle your personal business outside of the company if you desire." I shook my head as I walked back to my office but kept it in my wallet just in case I did end up needing a publicist after I became Mrs. Huntzburger. I gnawed on my thumb as I considered that, did I want to be Hayden-Huntzburger? Or Gilmore-Huntzburger? I would keep my professional name as Hayden but change my legal name of Gilmore-Huntzburger, I decided.

"Ace?" I nearly fell off of my chair, and turned to see Logan

"Hi," I choked out,

"Are you okay?" he asked, closing the door behind him,

"Yeah, glad I'm not losing my job." I sighed, brushing away tears that spilled over,

"Ace, that couldn't happen. You're the best reporter they have here, they lose you? A million other publications will be eager to pick you up. But that won't happen."

"I can't have some tabloid garbage ruin my career or have them trying to find out details about Lena."

"It won't ruin your career and you have Lena in one of the most prestigious and secure schools in the city. She will be okay and so will you. After we're married we'll do a piece, using your legal name whatever you want it to be and make a statement, tell a little story about our fairy tale family."

"It'll all work out?"

"It'll all work out."
