Tell me what you think :)
XOXO
I launch myself out of bed, my muscles are sore and still in the mood to sleep, but I force myself to get up. I'd know that voice anywhere, but hearing the agony in it made me feel sick.
I don't even bother for shoes. I bolt down the hallway in the direction of the noise. I wonder why no one else is around or running towards the sound - but then again, I was awake and the sound probably wasn't as loud as I'd thought it was. Maybe I heard it only because I was listening.
I hear more of the muffled screams and yells and begin running faster, forcing my muscles to wake up.
I enter the Pit, wondering where to look in a big place like this.
"No!" the voice yells, and my heart contracts. Tris.
I sprint in the direction of the voice and finally see the scene as soon as I break into the clearing facing the chasm.
Four figures, all dressed in black, are surrounding a bruised Tris. One is standing in front of her, obviously the leader of the little cult who's calling the shots. A giant figure is attempting at restraining Tris, although he or she isn't doing such a great job considering that Tris is kicking and defending as much as she can. Two other figures try throwing punches and other blows at Tris.
"Stop!" I scream.
Okay, it probably wasn't the best tactic to just blurt something out, but it got their attention long enough for Tris to kick the guy in charge straight in the jaw.
He growls and hisses, "Hold her over the chasm!"
The two that were punching Tris take her by the arms and push her forward in their attempt to dangle her off the chasm.
The two guys who were punching Tris begin to come at me. One of the guys is around my height and looks lean under his black attire. The other has more of a figure that the other, but still could be a guy.
I try to run to Tris, but one of the guys throws a punch towards my stomach - which I barely dodge. As I try to fend off the first attacker, the other one comes around back. "Hold her down!" The guy yells. His voice is oddly familiar, a voice that's trying to be menacing, but is down right annoying.
I'm still too tired to process quickly enough. Why am I so tired when I wasn't even sleeping? Where's my adrenaline?
The guy behind me puts me in a choke hold. His arm is too thick for me to grasp. I try to claw at him, but his clothing is too thick for my nails.
I'm loosing air and can't think. I always wondered why people didn't use combo moves when they were choking, but now I understand clearly. The only thing my mind can focus on is a need. I need air.
Up above, I hear footsteps running. I try to call for them, who ever they are. Help! my mind shouts.
I start to see more black than the scene before me. I see them dangling Tris off the chasm, taunting her. One of the guys begins groping her. I hear them taunting her more, one even says, "Perhaps we could have some fun after this, but you don't really have much on your chest, Stiff. Probably never even done something like that, and I don't know if I want a virgin."
Anger rages in side me. Images of Andrew flutter through my mind. I will not let something like that happen to Tris. Then I feel something coursing through my veins. Adrenaline. And a whole lot of it.
A spark goes off inside and I jab my elbow into the ribs of my attacker. The person yells out in pain, surprisingly female - but the voice is still deep for a girl.
She lets go and I suck in as much air as I can. I've never felt so happy to have air.
The other attacker begins to move towards me, his leg springing back reading to kick me.
A voice breaks through the chasm's clearing, yelling. The voice is deep and angry.
The attackers near Tris let go and run. I hear Tris yell, "NO!" as they let go of her.
Before I can take a step towards her, something smacks the back of my head with such force that I fall to the ground in searing pain.
I can feel something very warm trickle down the crown of my head and neck. Blood I bet.
My vision begins to falter. Black spots cover mostly everything.
I see a figure move towards the chasm, reaching out for something, or someone - but suddenly I can't remember. I don't know where I am, what's going on, or why I only can concentrate on this throbbing pain in my head. I wonder what the figure is trying to reach, hoping that he or she gets what they want before the black spots cover my vision and I fall into a deep sleep.
