Sakamaki Sister

Some time passes by, and the thought of asking one of her brothers is gone from Aria's mind. Now, all that she's wondering about is the thing that Kanato was hiding from her, and also a little bit about that argument that she overheard between Subaru and Raito. Until now, she can hear their voices faintly.

With a weighed sigh, she enters her room and plops down on her bed tiredly. Today, she feels even more exhausted than usual; a lot of things are going on, but she just convinces herself that everything will go smoothly, as always. I should rest now. Without minding about her current attire – the school uniform –, she instantly falls asleep as she rests her head onto the fluffy pillow.

Meanwhile, a figure stands quietly outside her room on the balcony; eyeing her every move. Luckily, she doesn't notice his presence whatsoever, but he remains standing there until the sister of the family is in deep sleep.

After some time, the figure on the balcony enters into Aria's room through the large, windowed door. His face remains void of emotion as he slowly looks around the room with little to no interest. His muffled steps echo throughout the dim room; making sure that the girl on the bed is asleep while he's there.

Getting quite bored, he veers his attention to the other occupant of the room. His deep red eyes keep looking at her as he can't help but find familiarity and serenity at the sight. Brushing the feeling off, he takes out yet another key from his pocket and sets it on the bedside table. Though, before moving away, he hesitates as he hears her soft mumble.

"Mama… warm…" Aria mumbles in her sleep, a light shade of pink adorning her cheeks.

Those words mean absolutely nothing to him, yet he feels a sense of comfort at that. Pausing all of his movements for a while to just look at the resting vampire, he resists the urge to brush away her bangs from her face. Making up his mind, he leaves the girl be. With a deep sigh, he exits the room silently without minding anything else.

A while later after he went away, Aria's eyes slowly flutter open to no sunshine yet. With a stretch, she looks at her balcony, she wonders why the doors are slightly opened; letting the cool early morning air in. Shivering a little, she sleepily walks over to the door not to close it, but to go onto the balcony to see the slowly rising sun. Breathing in the damp morning air relaxes her a lot, alongside seeing the sunrise. It's been a while since she saw anything like this.

Going back into her room, she closes the dew-patched windowed door and sits on her bed again while rubbing the sleepiness from her eyes. Soon enough, she notices the red key on her bedside table.

"Did Uncle Richter visit me again…?" she asks herself and looks back at the balcony's door.

Not wondering anything else, she decides to use the key later on when she's not feeling as sleepy. Meanwhile, she lingers in her room, not doing much of anything aside from reading English literature.

Then, she remembers about Aidou's invitation to watch his game. Should I ask them? Thinking about it, she pictures scenarios relating to the question: how should she ask, to whom, and how will they react.

"It's no good… Everything I think about won't end nicely…" she mumbles, feeling a bit sad.

She wants to go, yes, but she can't go against her brothers so freely.

Reading through her morning, she doesn't realize that the sun is already quite high up. It's odd for her to feel lazy to get up, but the book that she's reading is just too interesting to leave; a book containing poems made by Edgar Allan Poe. But realizing that it's going to grow as bad habit later in the future, she gets up with much effort.

Looking at the clock, it's still one in the afternoon, so there's plenty of time to spare before she gets ready for another day of school. Since there's nothing to do, she decides to use the key that was on her bedside table. With another stretch of her limbs, she exits her room and walks to where all the music boxes there.

On the way, she wonders about the flashbacks that she recently had with Shu, Reiji, herself, and her parents. It's a mystery that she isn't able to remember any of that before she arrived at the mansion, so she is determined to find more about what he life was like before she was sent to the hospital; mystery-loving as always.

As she descends down the stairs, she examines the key closely. Some light is reflected on it as she walks pass a window, the details on this key are also similar to the ones before. Before long, she meets up with a bored Ayato.

"Good afternoon. It's rare to see you walk around like this, Brother" she greets him warmly.

"That doesn't matter, I can't find Pancake anywhere and Yours' Truly is bored… Hmm? What's that?" he asks as he notices the key in her sister's hand.

"Oh, it's a key to one of the music boxes in that room" she point at the room's door.

With nothing else to say, Aria opens the door and enters the room, Ayato following behind her since there's nothing else that he can do to distract himself. His green eyes look around the room and lies down on the sofa. Close to him, his sister looks at the redhead with a small smile before taking out the next music box from the shelf.

Before inserting the key, she takes a deep breath while wondering about what flashback she'll have next. Slowly, she slides in the key into its hole and turns in slowly to prevent any loud noises that might awaken her already asleep brother.

The melody starts to play softly as nostalgia hits her again.
