Chapter 50: Plague

The words have been uttered by all seven.

The white horse is prepared, and it will ride with its master's orders.

…..

Enrique wasn't sure, but his instincts told him that something was seriously wrong.

His head turned in surprise when he heard the door open. One of them, Beelzebub, came in with a tray full of food.

"Here's your dinner," Beelzebub said.

Enrique's eyes narrowed, and he looked away defiantly.

He was startled when a strong hand wrapped around his throat, pushing him against the wall. He gasped in surprise.

"I went through a lot of trouble making your dinner," Beelzebub sneered. "The least you could do is say 'thank you'."

"Alright!" Enrique gasped. "Thanks."

The Demon let him go, and Enrique took in grateful gulps of air. He watched the other leave the room, hearing the distinct sound of a lock.

He looked towards the tray, truly terrified. He knew that they needed him alive in order to get Oliver to cooperate, but as recently demonstrated, they could easily kill him in a fit of rage. And Enrique had a feeling that they wouldn't hesitate if he got on their bad side.

After all, Oliver has other friends that they could use to manipulate him.

…..

Ray dropped to the ground, and Phantom Driger loomed over him, standing protectively in front of him.

He was a little surprised when he noticed that he was in human form, but he shrugged it off, figuring that he was also affected by the Medallion of Lucifer. And that counted in his favour.

"Sorry, but you're not touching my pet," Phantom Driger said. "And as you can probably tell, you have a bit of a disadvantage. Now, are you sure you want to go through with that threat?"

He had abandoned Ray's body, if only to make sure that Ray didn't die, and he had to make sure that they got the message loud and clear.

And the fact that he was in full power counted in his favour.

…..

Johnny had to catch himself. He felt extremely dizzy, and he had no idea how that happened.

And he also didn't feel the need to worry the others with his vertigo.

He felt eyes on him, and he managed to catch Salamolyon's eyes fixed on him. He had a feeling that his Bitbeast was aware that he wasn't feeling the best, but he didn't want to draw anyone else's attention.

They had enough to worry about.

…..

Kitsune and Dea had separated from the others in order to meet with their 'friend'. They didn't need the humans to be exposed to him, and they had to make sure that they're protected by the Bitbeasts.

They were somewhere in the Russian wasteland, far from any human settlement. It was dark and cold. Not even the Demolition Boys' Bitbeasts would be able to handle it there.

But they had to make their way through the ice.

"Remind me," Dea said, "to get him to move to a warmer place."

"We won't be able to succeed," Kitsune sighed.

They entered a cave, which was even colder than the wasteland. They said no word as they followed the path. After several minutes, they finally reached a chamber that was actually extremely hot. And in the middle of the chamber, a figure sat waiting.

He looked like a ten-year-old boy with spiky blond hair and mischievous green eyes. He wore, surprisingly, a black toga, and there were intricate tattoos all over his body in twisting spiral patterns.

He smirked when he saw the two Bitbeasts.

"Well, well," he said. "Kitsune and Dea. What brings you here?"

"Salvia," Kitsune said. "Long time, no see."

"Not long enough," Dea muttered.

Salvia heard it, but he was not angered. His smirk only widened.

"Claritas," he said.

Dea growled, not liking where this was going.

"What would the Princes of Hell want with a human?" Kitsune asked, interrupting the potential argument.

He turned his attention to Kitsune, his expression turning grim.

"The Princes of Hell?" he asked. "That's not good."

He closed his eyes, and for several moments he stayed in that position. His eyes snapped open.

"They took the human in order to get Lucifer's new host to cooperate," he said. "That human is stronger in spirit than the previous were. But there's something else that is more disturbing."

"What's that?" Kitsune asked, dreading the answer.

"They've summoned the Horseman of Pestilence."

The two exchanged looks, and they knew that things were more grim than they thought.

"Oh, and Veteratorias," Salvia said, "you may want to help that black tiger. And you may want to go deeper than your typical selves."

Kitsune nodded her head, understanding what he was talking about.

They departed, not liking where this was going.

…..

Salamolyon looked worriedly at his master. Johnny was looking extremely pale, and when he placed his hand on his shoulder, the salamander could feel an immense heat radiating from the boy.

And coming from a Bitbeast that specialised in fire, for him to admit that it was hot, that was saying something.

"Johnny," Salamolyon whispered in his master's ear, "are you feeling alright?"

"Yeah," Johnny gasped.

"No, you're not. You need to tell the others."

"I'm fine."

His words were contradicted when he harshly swayed, and Salamolyon had to catch him. This did not go unnoticed.

"Johnny?" Robert said. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah," Johnny gasped, before he went to sit on the ground.

Mariah frowned, before she stepped closer. She placed her hand on his forehead, before promptly removing her hand.

"You're burning up," Mariah said, before she placed her hand on Wolborg's shoulder, who looked at her in surprise. "Sorry. I think I burned my hand."

"This isn't normal," Black Dranzer said.

Johnny took a deep breath, before he erupted in a fit of coughs.

"Johnny, you're going to the infirmary," Emily said. "Right now. No arguments."

…..

Phantom Driger snarled, lunging at Hecate close by. He had to make sure that Ray remained unharmed, so that made it a little difficult.

The Dark Bitbeasts tended to do anything that would give them an advantage. And that included attacking Ray, which Phantom Driger did not want to happen.

A groan got their attention, and Phantom Driger hissed in annoyance.

'You won't be able to protect him for long,' Lucia hissed.

"He won't have to," a voice said, and Phantom Driger snarled in annoyance.

"What are you doing here, Trickster?" he snarled.

"Lucia," another voice said, making herself visible.

'Dea,' Lucia hissed.

"We have other things to worry about, so if you don't mind," Kitsune said.

She snapped her fingers, and there was a bright flash of light.

…..

Oliver sat with his head in his hands. His head was throbbing, and he could almost hear Lucifer's laughter.

The Princes of Hell ignored him, seeing as that is what they wanted to happen in the first place.

"Where's Enrique?" he asked.

Amon looked at him, an eyebrow arched, before he scoffed. He was then hit by Lilith, who nudged her head.

"Follow me," she said.

…..

Enrique looked up when the door opened, expecting to be harassed by another of the Princes.

He was surprised when he saw Oliver standing there. The door was closed behind him, and Enrique didn't hear the lock this time.

"Enrique," Oliver said, smiling, before he leaned against the wall.

"Oliver, are you okay?" Enrique asked. "Did they make you do something?"

"They let me say a few words," Oliver said. "Something about 'devolvatin peste'."

"Unleash the disease," Enrique said. "That doesn't sound good."

"You know it?" Oliver asked.

"Latin."

Oliver nodded, before he gasped in pain, gripping his head.

"Are you okay?" Enrique asked, stepping closer.

"Yeah," Oliver said. "It's just a headache."

"Come on," Enrique said. "You should sit down."

Oliver nodded his head, before he allowed Enrique to help him to the couch.

"Are you still okay, with this whole Lucifer thing?" Enrique asked.

"I'm not sure," Oliver whispered. "I don't know if I can last for long."

He hissed, gripping his head again. Enrique placed his hand on Oliver's shoulder, before it was placed in an iron grip. Enrique hissed, the pain intense.

"Don't touch me, mortal," Oliver hissed, his voice distorted.

Enrique gasped when Oliver looked at him with blue eyes. The blue faded back to the original lavender, before Oliver passed out.

And Enrique had never felt so much fear in his life.
