Chapter 55
T o Our Dearest Loved Ones and the Council,
By now if this letter has found you, you have been made aware of the truth of my daughter, of the first child to be born of two house clans. We had no intentions of matters ever getting as far as they had but they did. My dearest sister I hope that you can forgive me for what I have done for I know the anger that lies deep within your heart for the past actions that has happened already to our house. I can only hope that you will treat her well and that you will look after her and allow her to find her own path in life. To the council, I, the current Lady of the House of Holy Demons, have requested the elder miko to start and to recreate the poison that was once used on our house. I know that it will either kill her or remove the dragon blood from her veins and I will risk it all just so that she will remain happy and safe. She is, and will forever be meant to be the mate of the second son of the House of Inu. I foresaw this and it will come to pass, to my dearest daughter, while you will never know me and I will never know you, know that I have and forever shall love you with all my heart and soul. The necklace and the power that your father will seal for when you are ready are gifts that I will leave you so that you may overcome the challenges and tragedies that I wished I could prevent from happening to you. These are my dying wishes, as agreed when the council was first formed they will be honored in my memory.
Lady Lilly, of the House of Holy Demons
After having read what her sister had left for them to have, the Lady of the House of Holy Demons let out a long sigh as she offered the piece of paper to the current Lord of the House of Power and whispered, "The second half was written by your late father, it would only be right if it was read to this council by you."
As he took the piece of paper that was offered to him, Sota looked up and locked eyes with his sisters and said, "It's alright, I can do this. You need to stay where you are."
"As you wish." Kikiyo stated with a grin on her face.
"What does the late Lord Kenta have to say to this council?" the Lord of the House of Taijiya was heard ask in a curious filled voice.
After clearing his throat, Sota stood proud and began to read the letter that his father had left to all.
To my Daughter's, Son and the Council of the Five Houses of Japan,
I did not mean to fall in love with a woman other than my wife. I loved my wife, I loved my daughter and I wished to do right by them. Never had I thought to cheat on my wife or to have a second daughter with a different woman other than my wife. My mistakes are my own and I will pay for them when the time comes. But regardless of what has accrued and of my actions I will not allow my sins to effect my family or my children. As the Lord of the House of Power I advised the elder miko, my mother to do anything and everything that would ensure the safety of my family and the happiness of my daughters. Kikiyo, my eldest daughter I hope that you have lived a life of happiness and full filling out side of all this madness. To my son, I you are my blood, and I know you will be a far better leader that I had ever hoped to be for you will have two brilliant sisters to aid you and guide you on your journey. As Lady Lilly has states, we provided her not only the altered poison that would allow my daughter to rid herself of the dragon blood that would keep her bound to the House of Holy Demons but I have also requested that she would be trained to be the next elder miko to the Great Houses of Japan. This is my final wish and I hope to see it grant for it is what has always been done. Lastly, to my dearest daughter Kagome, forgive me for the life that forced you to life but I hope that after everything and all of the trails that your mother assured me you would overcome you will have a life filled with family, friends and love.
Lord Kenta of the House of Power
The hall was filled with silence after the words of the current Lord of the House of Power had spoken. While Kagome struggled to stay standing on her own before the council, Kikiyo was whipping her tears knowing that this would all end peacefully and that they would all have the chance to life their lives with their friends and family. Before the council could say a word in the matter at hand, Lady Kaede cleared her throat as she began to say, "While times have changed and there seems to be little to no need of the leaders, the demons in these areas still turn to the old ways for troubling time. It is time that we let go of the past to being a new future, while I cannot make you, I recommend that the new heir have a greater say as to how the Houses are to be run currently."
"As the Lord of the House of Power I will honor my father's wish, Lady Kagome, Mate of Lord Inuyasha is here by no longer a member of the House of Power. She is to be trained by you Lady Kaede until such a time that she is fit to be the next ruling miko for the Five Great Houses of Japan." Sota stated in a calm, emotionless, and power filled voice.
"The House of Wolves have no fight in this. We will honor the wishes of the late Lord Kenta and Lady Lilly; Lady Kagome will be seen as the next leading miko and will be allowed to say by Lord Inuyasha's side as there is no law in place to prevent such a thing."
"The House of Taijiya will do nothing to prevent the final wishes of the Lord and Lady to be met. We will allow this to pass and agree that there are no laws broken for there is nothing in our law that prevents the elder miko from mating with one of our heirs." Lady Izayoi moved to say as she kept her hand on her mate's leg so that he would voice nothing else.
Soon all eyes were at the Lady of the House of Holy Demons as they waited for her reply and answer. If she allowed things to play out as they should she would have no more reason to try to claim the young miko nor would there be any more reason to try to keep the young mates from one another. If however the dragoness chose to claim Kagome as her blood regardless of the fact that her dragon blood had been removed from her, there would be no way to keep the two young mates together without removing them and forcing them out of the country. Before the dragoness could even say a word, all eyes turned to the east entrance as it was thrown open and the held open by the Band of Seven as they filled the room with their own weapons in hand.
"What the hell…what do you fools think you are doing?!" Kikiyo exclaimed as she glared at the demons that should have taken the plane back to England.
"We have a debit to pay off and with this final act it will be paid in full." Bankotsu was heard state as he approached the elder miko.
"You seven do not belong here, you were banded from our lands, and before violence gives way I suggest you take your leave." Lady Kaede was heard stated in a calm and collected voice.
"Umm…brother it seems like they have everything under control." Renkotsu was heard growl out.
"Of course it is you idiots; now get the fuck out of here." Inuyasha's pissed off voice was heard growl out as he and the rest of his pack appeared behind them.
"We have not called for you." Inutaisho's angry voice growled out.
"Yes well, we got tired of waiting." Sango hissed out in anger as she took note of her friend's weak state.
"Inuyasha," Rin whispered as she also took note of her friend.
"Brother?" Sesshomaru growled out in a hidden question as he kept his eyes trained on his sister.
Before anyone in the council and before Kaede could began to explain the state that her granddaughter was in, the hall was quickly filled with the young heir of the House of Inu as he transformed to his true state and filled the call in his true demonic form. While Kagome finally allowed herself to fall to her knees, she was not surprised when she landed and was caught by her brother's large paw so that she would not hit the floor. In the same instant that he had done this, Inuyasha and the rest had moved forward and covered both Kikiyo and Rin from any harm. Once they were all sure that they were not going to be attacked, Rin and Kikiyo both moved to help Kagome as Sesshomaru allowed his poison to surround them in a protective cloud while Inuyasha drew his sword and growled out, "What the fuck have you done to my mate?"
"Nothing was done to her without her willingness to take part Lord Inuyasha," Sota began to explain, "In order to end all this she had to make sure that there was no way for the House of Holy Demons to be able to claim her. She drank the poison so that she would rid herself of the dragon blood and of her gift that was killing her anyway. She needs rest and probably a bit more of Inu demon blood to balance her out and she will be fine."
Before Inuyasha or anyone else could ask what he meant by that, all eyes turned and stared at the Lady of the House of Holy Demons as she stood to take her leave as she said, "Lord Sota of the House of Power is right, she made her choice. She is nothing and will forever be nothing to the House of Holy Demons. This matter has been closed, no laws have been broken and the will of the late Lord Kenta and Lady Lilly will be followed. Leave in piece and enjoy your lives."
"Thank you," Kagome whispered at her aunt as she closed her eyes and allowed the darkness to surround her sight.
"Kagome!" Ayame roared in worry.
"Shit," Kikiyo hissed as she began to feed her miko energy into her sister.
"Everyone move away from her, Sesshomaru you will need to be the one to do this at the same time as your brother, she trust you and you are part of her pack." Inutaisho growled as he stood with his mate and began to approach his sons and daughters.
"Stay away," Ayame growled as Koga took to her side.
"Feh, Fluffy hurry the fuck up." Inuyasha growled as he allowed his demonic blood to surface as he felt his mate slipping away from him.
The council that had stayed all watched as the group of human's, monk's, miko's, demons, hanyou's and mates all gathered together and worried for their own and began to see everything as a threat to their pack. They watched as they moved around one another as if they were speaking or already knew where the other was moving too and what the other wished to do for their pack. It was in this moment that they were reminded of the reason they had chosen to form the council so long ago, why they had created laws, changed laws, and even changed with the times. It was to keep everyone in their packs and in their lands safe while keeping the peace so that they would all be able to live a happy life. It was at this time that they were finally able to see why they had all had fought so hard and for as long as they had.
