Chapter 50

Fear ripped through Goliath. "What do you mean she's gone?" he asked. She winced as she straightened her posture.

"Jon took her. He grazed me with a bullet and unbeknownst to me, he had someone with him. Elisa tried to fight but she lost consciousness. Jon had her carried out and I didn't stop it time."

Goliath inhaled sharply. "I have to get you help. He gently picked her up and carried her out. The officers and paramedics came and put her inside the ambulance.

"Goliath," he heard and looked for the source. Macbeth came rushing over. "What happened?"

"Robyn has been shot and they took Elisa," he growled. Macbeth narrowed his eyes.

"Where?" he asked. Goliath shook his head in frustration. Macbeth looked toward the ambulance as it took off. "Don't do anything until I come to the Eyrie. We'll get her back."

Goliath clenched his fists trying to control himself. He watched as the clan looked at him with worry. He walked over and told them Elisa was gone and they should head back to Eyrie. So many thoughts were running through his head and they all ended in Elisa's death. He blinked back tears at the prospect of her being gone permanently.

Macbeth rushed into the hospital and asked the receptionist where she was. He found her in the emergency room being stitched up. "Robyn," he called out.

She looked up and gave a weak smile. "Hi uncle," she replied. The nurse finished up and told her she would have to rest. She left them alone.

"Robyn, how did you get shot and how did Elisa get kidnapped?" he questioned. She sighed.

"We didn't know that Jon had someone with him. He was hiding in the background. Jon ended up grazing me and I could barely move. Next thing I know, Elisa is struggling with this man and she loses consciousness," she replied.

"I need to get you home and I'm going to the Eyrie afterwards. Where would Jon go?"

"I'm going with you," Robyn stated. He tilted his head. "She's family. I can't let you do this alone."

"Exactly and so are you. Your husband wouldn't want you going out there injured," he said. She shook her head in protest and got off the bed. "Robyn, no," he said firmly.

She huffed in annoyance. "You're not cutting me out of this completely. I'll have Dingo do something. Do you have your phone?" He handed it to her and she dialed. He stepped out to see Joshua standing in the hallway.

He walked up to him. "Where were you?" he asked.

Joshua sighed. "I got there the same time as everyone else. I was in the middle of fighting those lunatics when Elisa went inside the warehouse."

"Well, she's gone and I don't know how long she is going to be alive if Jon hasn't killed her already. I need you to take Robyn to my house. She knows the address. Do a better job at protecting one of my family members," he responded. Macbeth motioned for Joshua to follow him.

They saw Robyn hanging up the phone. "Dingo said he'll do whatever he can on his end. What are you doing here?" she asked Joshua.

"He's taking you back to my place. Can't take any chances," Macbeth said not wanting an argument. "Just do this for me." Robyn nodded her head and handed the phone back.

"I have to go," Macbeth said. He kissed the side of Robyn's head. "Don't ever do that again," he whispered in her ear. He left with his mind full of worst case scenarios.

He arrived at the Eyrie to see the clan along with David and Fox, Derek and Maggie, and Owen waiting for him. "How's Robyn?" Goliath asked.

"She'll be fine. Minor injury. Now we can begin our meeting," he said. "Anybody have any idea of any possible Quarrymen hideouts?"

"I'm sure they have relocated after all these years," David said. "I have my people tracking any trace of them," he continued. Macbeth nodded his head.

"What's his endgame? Why just take Elisa and not anybody else?" Derek asked urgently. "It doesn't make sense."

Macbeth locked eyes with Goliath before turning his attention to the rest of the crowd. "The only thing I can think of is she is your link to the world. You sever the link and you all become inconsolable. He'll take advantage of your vulnerable state and annihilate you all. He knows even Demona is not interested in continuing this cycle but he isn't going to go away quietly. He won't stop until he avenges his father's death."

Derek inhaled sharply and focused on Demona. "If he wants her so badly, why not take her? She is the one who killed the man."

"Derek," Maggie said softly trying to diffuse the tension before it even hit.

"No. My sister has two children and she doesn't deserve this. Demona should be the one-

"Derek, I understand your frustration but this isn't Demona's fault," Kevin defended. "She didn't set this in motion."

Demona sighed. "No, it's alright." Her eyes flickered to Derek. "I don't blame you for your feelings toward me. I don't wish any pain on Elisa. There's no telling what he might do to her. For your sake I hope she is alive. Now can we please come up with something?"

They threw out ideas left and right but came to the realization that they couldn't make a move until Jon made one first. Goliath walked onto the balcony and stared at the sky.

"She's not going to die you know," he head Fox say. "She's too stubborn to do that." He remained silent. "We are going to bring her home. Then you two can run off into the sunset together," she added.

"Fox, Elisa and I aren't-

"Maybe not now but maybe after this there is hope. I know you won't give up on her and besides, Chris and Meghan need their mother. You wouldn't let them grow up without her."

"That's her worst fear. It's the same as mine. I couldn't leave James now either," he confided.

"Then we'll wait patiently and try to send positive thoughts her way," she replied.

Meanwhile, Elisa was tied to a chair barely conscious. "Wake up Elisa," Jon said tapping her face. He saw her opening her eyes and he stood up. "That's a girl," he whispered.

Elisa was fully awake and looking at her surroundings. "Where am I? What did you do?"

"You are in my territory and I rescued you," he stated as if it should have been obvious.

"Rescue me? You kidnapped me," Elisa shot back. Jon smirked.

"Semantics. It doesn't matter anyway because I have a purpose for you. You are my ticket to bringing them all here or at least some of them," Jon explained. He tilted her chin up. "You are good for something. My father would be proud to know his daughter-in-law was instrumental in destroying that pathetic and monstrous race."

Elisa jerked her head away. "You can't defeat them. They will rip you to shreds."

Jon laughed. "Not with some incentive not to harm us. I want them to see what happens when people get in my way."

"What are you going to do?" she asked wearily. His wicked smile made her uncomfortable. "Jon, what are you going to do?"

"Martin, Rick, get in here," he yelled. Elisa saw them approach her and untie the bonds.

"Pick her up and take her to the gurney." Elisa struggled but Jon pointed a gun to her head. "Stop and make this easy for everyone. No use dying before time."

They placed Elisa on the gurney and strapped her wrists and feet. "Jon, I'm begging you not to do this," she said keeping her voice calm. Jon stood over her and ran his finger down her face.

"I have to. You see you are the only reason the clan really exists. You foiled our plans. I can't have that happen anymore," he said. "It's time to rest Elisa."

She felt wires being hooked up to her. "Do you have any idea what is going to happen to you?" she shouted. "How is any of this making anybody proud? Do you think Jason would be thrilled that you kidnapped his wife and the mother of his children. You claim to love him but you don't. How could you stoop this low?"

Jon walked over to the machine. "Rest Elisa," he said calmly and flipped the switch. Her screams filled the room. He cut the machine off and looked at his associated. "Send it," he ordered. He hovered over her. "It will be a lot worse the next time. Sweet dreams."

David was on his computer when the video came through. He read the subject line and his eyes widened. He picked up the phone. "Owen, get everyone in here."

Minutes later they piled into the room. "David, what is it?" Fox asked.

"I received a message. Elisa's name is in the subject line. It's a video," he explained. He turned the computer around and pushed play. They all gasped at seeing her on the gurney. No one made a sound as they heard the conversation going between Jon and Elisa. Then they all stood there in disbelief as they watched Elisa being electroshocked.

David stopped the video and cleared the screen when another message popped up. Jon appeared on it.

"I can safely assume you saw the video of my dear guest. Such a shame really. She got caught in a deadly game she was destined to lose. I know how much you care for her and you wish to see her unharmed but that won't happen. She aligned herself with your kind and she deserved such kind treatment. I want the demon and I will get her. Sadly, Elisa will be just another casualty unless one of you, preferably all of you, will be so willing to exchange your life for hers. I look forward to the challenge."

The video concluded. "I'll go," Macbeth said. "He can't kill me and I can get Elisa out of there."

"No. He wants one of us. I'll go," Goliath said. "He will get the challenge he wants."

Macbeth heard his phone buzz. "Robyn," he said.

"Did you see the video of Elisa? Jon sent me a message," she said.

"Yes, we all did," he replied sadly.

"I know where that place is. It's an old hideout of ours. It's on the outskirts of Manhattan," she explained.

"Thanks Robyn. I guess Dingo doesn't have to do anything else," he replied. He could hear the frustration building in her voice. "Just make sure Peter and Diane are safe. It's best they not hear of this. Understand?"

"Yes," she whispered. "I should-

"Robyn, I need you calm and level-headed. Just prepare yourself," he said hanging up.

"Prepare for what?" Angela asked.

"A funeral. Jon's a dead man," he stated angrily.
