Hi :)

I really liked this one, so I hope you'd enjoy it.

Chapter 53

Waking up in Ian Kabra's arms was like a dream come true.

A very very sweet dream come true.

Amy opened her green eyes slowly. The first thing she noticed was Ian's muscular arms around her. And... how comfortable they felt, hugging her tightly.

He went to sleep with a simple short black shirt and she went to sleep in a sweater, but his warmth kept her feeling warm and cozy so she took it off during the night, staying with Natalie's old shirt on.

They basically spooned during the whole night, and surprisingly, despite how much Ian was scared of her being around him, he slept at this night like he hadn't in a long while though. It made sense, thinking about it, cause she was here, in his arms. No one could harm her when she is with him.

He woke up a second after she started opening her eyes, and he yawned to her hair, and tightened his arms around her, to her growing smile.

"Morning, Love." He whispered to her neck, and she turned around to face him, smiling to his blinking yellow-amber eyes.

"I actually woke up before you did." She said, and brushed his hair out of his eyes with her fingers.

"No, I woke up before you." He said, lying, and she giggled and got a bit closer to him. "Liar."

He looked at her and tugged strains of smooth hair behind her ear. "How did you sleep?"

Wonderful. great. amazing.

"Good." She smiled at him, warmly, the smile he loved so much. "What about you?"

He smirked, and she couldn't help but blush and shrink. It was just, that whenever he smirked, he looked so good-looking, even better than usual. No one could handle him looking like this. Everyone melt to this smirk, with a feeling of immediate insecurity.

She wasn't yet immune to his smiles.

He saw the pink blush and embarrassment and chuckled, pulling her into his arms. "Wonderful, Love." He whispered in her ear.

She sighed in his arms, letting go a bit, and he chuckled again. "Want some breakfast?"

Quiet. And then - "I'm starving." He chuckled again, and she asked. "What time is it?"

He glanced at the clock on the desk. "Nine o'clock."

She groaned into his chest. "We slept in. Don't you wake up in, like, five AM usually?"

It surprised him too. "Well.." He said, golden-amber eyes widened, and his hand caressing her back. "I must have slept well."

She pulled away and smiled at him, and he pecked her on the lips before fully waking up.

Amy sat at the little table Ian had in his kitchen, while his back was turned to her as was making eggs for breakfast.

They had a chit-chat about Natalie, before Ian asked "So what are your plans for today?"

Amy opened her mouth to respond, when she suddenly remembered one thing that almost freaked her out - School.

But she relaxed quite swiftly. It was like they both had an agreement not to go to school today. They had reasons, of course. They were back together, finally, and were yet to decide the... rules. How they were going to make it, with facing as little risks as possible.

And besides, missing one day wouldn't be that terrible. She had her friends, they would save her summeries.

She smiled at his back again, as he tossed the eggs in the air. "Actually, I don't have any plans. Maybe to go to the library, if you're busy..."

He finished making their food, and set the plates on the table before sitting down. "Actually, I... do have plans."

She blew on her food to chill it. "That's fine. What are your plans?"

He put the fork into his mouth. Something felt... weird in his flashing eyes. "I'm meeting with friends."

"Ok." She said, looking at her omelet. "When are you going?"

He paused for a moment, and then said. "After breakfast."

Amy looked surprised, green eyes widened. "Aren't they at school?"

He smiled, what only confused her more. "No, we all decided to bail on school today."

She frowned. "Are you guys do this a lot?"

He chuckled. "No, very occasionally."

She nodded, and smiled warmly. "Have fun."

They finished their food, and Ian went to the bedroom to change.

Amy stayed in the kitchen, frowning. He wasn't telling her something. Something important, but she didn't feel like asking him for some reason.

"What are you thinking so hard about?" His voice startled her.

She turned in annoyance to face him smug smirk.

He was dressed in a black coat and black pants, the only colorful thing in his appearance was his glinting eyes.

She smiled at him. "Nothing. Are you going now?"

He glanced at his watch. "Yea." He waited a minute, and then, surprisingly, took her into his arms. "Listen, Love, I know that you want to go out and anything, but please stay here till I come back." He closed his eyes shut and tightened her to himself a bit more. "I still don't know if it was the right thing to do, you and me, and now I'm scared to death that something might happen to you while I'm gone. So please lock the door after I leave, ok?"

She hugged him back surprised at his sudden burst of emotions. "Ok." She said softly.

He took a deep breath. "Good." He let go of her, tugging her hair behind her ear.

She walked him to the door, hand in hand, when she suddenly frowned. "Ian,"

He looked at her. "What?"

"Where are you going?"

He sighed and studied her before the door. "Some club. My friends insisted."

She was surprised. "In the middle of the day?"

He studied her, not sure of what to say.

It was a tradition. Tradition he had with those friends ever since he arrived at this school. Every year, in this very day, they would go there, get drunk (though Ian never got too drunk, despite what his friends thought) in this very hour.

But he didn't want to tell her. There was no way she knew what happens this day, but she would feel bad with herself for not knowing anyway.

The only reason he was going was because it was a tradition he had with his friends, and he couldn't let them down.

"Yea, I don't know, maybe one of their girlfriends broke up with them." He said, smirking into her green eyes. She blushed and rolled her eyes.

He bent down as she lean in, his hand went to her cheek to cup it gently, as his hand circled around her waist to keep her tight to him, as his lips found hers.

He felt her smiling, and felt her arm that was wrapped around his neck, and through his hair.

That moment, he cursed his friends.

He pulled away before the kiss intensified, and kiss her quickly again after seeing her cute pout. "I'll be back soon."

"Ok," She said, flushed and hear beating fast. "Have fun."

Ian left, and Amy wandered lazily in the kitchen, wondering what to do with herself.

Suddenly, her thoughts wandered to what he was not telling her. What is that? Why is he keeping it from her?

She sighed and gazed at the calendar on his refrigerator, seeing the date.

She kept gazing at the date, wondering why it was bothering her. She knew something, but couldn't quite recall.

And then it hit her.

Long, long ago, at one of the many reunions they had, Ian was very grumpy, saying he had to go somewhere and vanished.

When asked, Natalie... rolled her eyes and mumbled something about it being Ian's birthday.

Everyone acted so suspicious towards him that day. He didn't seem to mind, though, he just wanted to get out of there.

In fact it was... Exactly a year ago.

"Dan please! Will you do that for me?"

"I don't know, Ames, You actually want me to-"

"Yes!"

"They will never agree!"

"Try!"

"But-"

"Tell them it's a chance to make amends of last year, when nobody knew it was his birthday. It's a chance to be together, really be together, since the last mission we had. You sensed that they were starting to warm up towards him, don't you?"

Dan sighed in the telephone, making note to himself that he was the best little brother in the world. "Fine. I'll try."

Amy screamed in enthusiasm from the other side of the phone. "Thank you, you're the best little brother in the world."

Dan smirked to himself behind the phone. "I know."

They continued talking about it, until Dan asked about Ian himself. "So... are you back together now?"

Silence. And then, he could hear his sister sigh. "I barely managed to convince him. You have no idea what we've been through. Anyway, It's not going to be that simple, at all."

Dan nodded, and said. "Will you come today?"

She sighed again and painted on the wooden chair with her finger. "I don't know. I think I won't, Dan-o."

Dan remained quiet, before saying. "I don't think he will be as happy as if you would be coming."

She smiled to herself, a love to her little brother starting to ignite inside of her. "It doesn't matter, It's his family. I want him to be with family in this special day, like it should be, you know. It's not just him and me all the time after all."

They ended the call, and Amy started to run some more phone calls. Her brother might be calling their cousins and ask them to come around, but it would still help if she called and asked them herself.

She made calls to Nellie, asking her to make food, and called Natalie, to talk her into helping Dan hang balloons.

"Seriously Amy?" Natalie sound tired on the phone. "You may not know this, but we are Kabras. And Kabras do not celebrate their birthdays."

Amy felt a pang in her heart. "You mean... You never celebrated you birthdays with your parents?"

Natalie's voice sounded tired and bored. "No."

Amy tightened her lips, and then, determined, asked. "When were you born?"

After hanging up, Amy took five minutes to think.

She couldn't believe they never celebrated their birthdays with the family. Yea, they had basically everything they wanted due to being rich, but... at this special day, Ian and Natalie were just like... in any other day.

'How could they do that to them?' Amy thought. A second later she understood it was funny. Isabel had done so many bad things, and she was resented over her not celebrating her children's birthdays.

There was nothing left to do except of staying, and... wait to see if Dan made it to bring everyone to the mansion.

Amy zipped between channels, landing randomly on a cooking one.

She watched the show for half an hour, and then made a choice.

Ian got home by the evening's start.

The sun started to sink, making the sky look wonderful with hues of orange and yellow.

This was one of the good meetings, that was the reason it lasted so long. He and his friends controlled the club.

Everything, starting with how much alcohol anyone gets, and ending in who was messing around with whom.

When he was with his friends, he felt like the king he truly was. The one who always was in control, confident, seductive, ruthless.

Some parts that he still liked, cause they were the reason he was who he was.

And his friends were always on the ball, that was the reason they were his friends. They were quite like him, in some ways. the two closest to him understood him almost completely sometimes, understood the way he acts.

Despite the fact that none of them knew about his family, or the clue hunt, or whatever.

He liked that. He liked being the one up, the one in control, the one anyone looked up to and wished to be with. He didn't need all this, but it was amusing.

The only person who managed to take him out of control was Amy.

It was like she kept him on track, being himself, but not overreacting. He still was confident, cocky, and so, but somehow, Amy managed to prevent him from being a really really bad monster.

After all, he couldn't be mean to people (as he would had been unless her) and then look to her in the eye.

He took out his key and opened the door, getting in slowly. "Love?" He called, and then to his amusement saw her rushing from the corridor to the living-room.

He couldn't help the smile that rushed to his face to her joyful smile, as she got closer to him in a momentum and threw her arms around him. He laughed as he twirled her around, and then set her down, and finally gently kissed her.

"I see you've missed me," He teased, as she untied her arms from around his neck.

"Yes," She smiled at him, so warmly and joyfully, that his heart began to beat faster. "How was the... party?"

He smirked. "Great. As always, we ruled the place."

She rolled her eyes. "You didn't get in any trouble, did you?"

Now was his turn to roll his eyes. "Of course not. No one will try to mess up with me."

"Ok..." She took a deep breath, and looked into his eyes. "You didn't pick on anybody, right?" She asked gingerly, afraid to ask.

He smirked and shook his head. "No, I didn't."

She exhale, and nodded. "Good." She waited a minute, and then said. "I'm glad you had fun."

He nodded, turning to go to the bedroom to change. "So do I."

"Wait." She grabbed his hand, and he turned to her, surprised. "Can you stay here a minute."

He looked at her standing there, with her long copper-brown hair to her waist, and her good green eyes, and wondered what was it that she wanted. "Yes." He frowned. "Is something wrong?"

She laughed, and shook her head. "No, silly, just.. wait here a minute, I have something for you."

She disappeared into the kitchen, and Ian was left there to wonder what the hell was going on.

Amy got into the kitchen, seeing the one thing she tried to make, and cupped it carefully with her hands. She took a deep breath. It was now or never.

She carried it to the living-room, and stood before Ian, next to the living-room table, raising her eyes to meet his.

Ian was very surprised. Amy carried in her hand a small, chocolate cake, with one candle on it.

And then it hit him - She knew.

He frowned, shocked "How did you-"

"Nat mention it, a year ago, when you were grumpy at a Cahill reunion."

He continued looking at her, until she spoke again. "I..." Suddenly she blushed to a fiery red, and talked really fast. She also looked very very beautiful, all flushed like this. "I know you don't like chocolate. And that you hate sugar and sweets, and besides, I'm a terrible cooker, and that can't be tasty, but... you know... I promised you I wouldn't leave the house, and I've got nothing to give to you. So I wanted to try, I wanted.." She looked away, and he was so astonished, that he felt himself blushing as well.

And Ian Kabra did not do blushing.

What was this girl going to be for him?

She sighed. "I wanted to do something for you." She looked into his eyes again, and handed him the little cake.

He looked at the cake, and was amazed. He barley could comprehend what was happening. She knew about his birthday and she made him a... cake. And he knew what it was for her, probably trying over and over again until the cake goes well.

"Love..." He took the cake. "Thank you."

She smiled warmly at him as she took the cake from him, and put it on the table. Then, she caressed his hair and got closer slowly, until her lips touched his. Amy kissed him slowly and softly, and he immediately grabbed her waist.

She pulled away, smiling at him. Her green eyes were warm and soft and kind and everything he ever longed for. "I love you very much, Ian. Happy nineteenth birthday."

"Amy..." He took her into his arms, heart beating fast. "It's the best thing someone has ever made for me. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me."

He alerted suddenly, understanding what he had said and how much meaning he took out into his words.

Her hug tightened around him. "Sure."

They stayed in each other's embrace for a while, until Amy pulled away. "Why didn't you tell me it was your birthday, anyway?"

He chuckled. "I knew how bad you would have felt that you didn't know."

She smacked him. "You should have told me."

He smirked. "Looks like you figured it out yourself anyway."

She nodded, still blushing, and caressing his arm up and down. "I have... another thing."

He looked surprisingly at her. "What?"

She looked into his eyes. "Tell me you don't have any plans for the rest of the day."

"I don't, why?" He questioned.

She took a deep breath. "Well, I wish I didn't have to tell you and make it a surprise, but... ok." She adjusted her sitting and looked into his eyes. "Hamilton, Jonah, Sinead, Dan, Natalie and everybody are waiting for you at the mansion with balloons and food and... everything. So... go." She smiled.

He looked at her for a few seconds, before the words started to kick in. "how?"

Amy sighed, and leaned against the sofa's armrest, taking her legs to herself. "I... made some calls, while you were gone. It doesn't matter. Go, they're waiting for you." She smiled again, so sweet it twitched.

Ian stared at her, before saying "I can't believe you did all that. You really didn't have to-"

"No, don't say that." She shook her head. She took his hand in hers. "Listen.. Natalie told me that you never celebrated your birthdays with family before."

He stiffened. Really, Natalie? "So?"

She tore herself from the armrest, and looked intently into his eyes. "I wanted to make you a celebration, with family."

He looked away. Amy could touch the parts of him that he never really cared about, and bring them up. Precisely everything he repressed, knowingly or not.

"Look," She sighed, after he kept silence. She pulled him with her to stand. "You're going to be the most beloved person on earth. Ok? I love you. And your family loves you. Even if it's just in progress. They're getting to know you. The real you. And, I can feel it..." She smiled at him, a dazzling smile. "You, We, are going to have the time of our lives." She passed her fingers down his chest. "Now, you should go."

He swallowed, and brought her to him again. He whispered in her ear. "I don't want to leave you alone."

She laughed. "That's ok, I get that I might be in danger now. I don't mind, it's your special day. Come on, I didn't gather them all around for nothing." She teased, smiling, and then raised on her toes, to whisper in his ear "Besides, They made you a real cake there."

That joke was what managed to bring him back to himself. He chuckled, and tightened her, swaying a bit. "I want only want the cake you made. How did you-"

"It took a couple hours," She laughed, placing her hand on his arm. "And I didn't taste it, so I don't know whether it's crappy or not. But I was running out of time, and burned like a lot of cakes, so..." She smiled shyly.

He chuckled, and brought the little chocolate cake to his mouth. He took a bite, and was astonished.

Ok, so the cake was a bit tasteless, but besides...

Amy looked at him, biting her lip, afraid to ask.

He smirked at her and handed her the cake. "See for yourself."

She took a bite, and her green eyes widened in shock. "It's not crappy!" She called, clasping her hands, her long hair swaying in the process.

"Of course it's not crappy." He laughed, kissing her head.

She looked at him wide-eyed. "It's your birthday miracle."

He laughed out loud, and he finished the cake as she walked him to the door.

"Are you going to be ok in here?" Ian asked her one last time, before leaving.

"Yea, of course," Amy smiled at him happily. "Have fun."

He smiled and turned to leave, before she said "Ian?"

"Yea?" He turned back to her.

She frowned. "Can I have one of your sleeping shirts? They look so comfortable and Natalie's clothes are anything but... comfortable."

He laughed. "Of course. I'll be back soon. Goodbye, Love."

She smiled at him before closing the door. "Bye."

The door was closed, and she sighed happily, heading to lie down lazily on the sofa. Organizing this up was really exhausting.

She put her head on one of Ian's pillows, and closed her eyes, a smile growing on her face, as she tried to picture the whole scene when he would open the mansion's door, and have everyone there waiting for him.
