Enter Luke, Tahiri, and Jag, at the Imperial Remnant.
Luke discusses his dream about Lumiya.
Tahiri. The Je'daii were busy last night. [to Jag] Show him, Jag.
Jag removes a copy of The Fallacy of War by Codus Romanthus.
Jag. These were on my pillow this morning.
Luke keys a message from Yammosk, recorded in the holobook.
Enter Yammosk, a holographic image of the Je'daii.
Yammosk. Good job, kid. A real man's best weapon is his mind. This was your mother's favorite book. Give it a read. By the way, I hope your friend Skywalker has learned some respect for me. Yammosk out.
Exit Yammosk.
Luke. Bloah. Maybe Yammosk is different than Yun-Yammka. I don't think Yun-Yammka can read.
Jag. There's a lot in here about sacrifice, knowing the cost of war. Back on Nirauan, Yammosk told me I'd have to put my duty ahead of my life or the entire war would go sideways. I thought he meant freeing Xanatos, but now . . . I don't know. I'm still alive, so maybe the worst is yet to come.
Jag glances nervously at Luke.
Luke. You risked your life. You were willing to burn up to save the quest. Yammosk can't expect more than that.
Jag. Maybe.
Tahiri takes Jag's hand.
Luke. Tahiri. How about you? Any word from Vitiate?
Tahiri. No. In a way, I think he sent a message through Xanatos. My name wasn't on that list of escaped souls. It should have been.
Luke. You think your father is giving you a pass?
Tahiri. [shrugs] Vitiate can't visit me or even talk to me without acknowledging I'm alive. Then he'd have to enforce the laws of death and have Xanatos bring me back to the Netherworld. I think my father is turning a blind eye. I think . . . I think he wants me to find Kyp.
Luke. We'll find your brother. As soon as the ship gets here, we'll sail for Bastion.
Tahiri and Jag exchange looks.
Jag. Luke. If you want us to come along, we're in. But are you sure? I mean, we know you've got tons of friends at the other camp. And you could pick anyone in the Empire now. If we're not part of the Seven, we'd understand . . .
Luke. Are you kidding? You think I'd leave my team behind? After surviving Siri Tachi's wheat germ, running from gundarks, and hiding under Phlogs on Hoth? Come on.
All laugh.
Tahiri. The prophecy Qwi gave us about the child of wisdom and the mark of Ashla burning through Bastion . . . Do you know what that's about?
Luke. I'm not sure. I think there's more to the prophecy. Maybe Qwi can remember the rest of it.
Jag. We need to take her with us . . . I mean, for her own safety. If Thrackan finds out Qwi has the Journal of the Whills memorized . . .
Luke shudders.
Luke. You're right. We've got to protect her. I just hope we can convince her . . .
Enter Lowbacca and Qwi.
Lowbacca. Luke.
Qwi passes a hololetter to Luke.
Qwi. Special delivery from a Melodie, a wind spirit. Yes, I've got a special delivery.
Lowbacca. Good morning, brothers. The hololetter is from Ben. He is funny and small.
Enter Ben Skywalker, a holographic image of red-haired Jedi Knight.
Recognizing the family resemblance to Anakin Solo, Tahiri stifles a scream.
Jag. What? What's wrong?
Ben. Hey. Greetings from your friends at the Jedi Praxeum, et cetera. This is Ben. I'm the . . . [to the Jedi] What's my title? Am I like admiral, or captain, or . . .
Danni's Voice. Mechanic.
Ben. Very funny, Danni. [to Luke] So yeah, I'm, er, supreme commander of the Millennium Falcon. Yeah, I like that. Anyway, we're going to be sailing toward you in about, I don't know, an hour in this big mother warship. We'd appreciate it if you'd not, like, blow us out of the atmosphere or anything. So okay. If you could tell the Imps that . . . See you soon. Skywalker out.
Exit Ben.
Tahiri. It can't be.
Jag. What? You know that guy?
Tahiri. It's Anakin Solo. But how . . . how . . .
Luke. It can't be. That guy's name is Ben. And it's been seventy-something years. It has to be a . . .
Before Luke can form an appropriate response, horns sound, signaling an emergency session of the Moff Council.
It's meeting time. Come on. We've got to warn them about the ship.
Exit all.
