Episode 54: Son Interview, part 5

"Welcome to The Yellowfang and Nightcloud Show!" Yellowfang meowed cheerfully.

Nightcloud slouched in her red plush chair, sighing. "You aren't going to like this episode, folks. Guess who's on it again."

Paws in the audience shoot up, wanting to be the cat chosen to announce the episode. Nightcloud glanced out into the crowd of cats and pointed to a light golden she-cat. "Yeah, you. Tell us who's on the show today. Not that anyone cares."

The golden she-cat stood up. "Well, I'm Brightpool, and the guest today is Yellowfang's son-"

"Broken-baby!" the gray she-cat cheered, cutting Brightpool off.

The ragged-looking brown tabby padded onto the stage. He sat down in the green chair facing the hosts. "I thought I'd better help my mom get the show back on track. Y'all have had some really bad guests on lately."

"What are you talking about?" Nightcloud asked. "Leopardstar is awesome!"

"And Blackstar made ShadowClan look bad," Brokenstar hissed. "I'm really going to have to talk to him about that."

Yellowfang gazed lovingly at her son. "So, Broken-baby, how's StarClan?"

The tom rolled his eyes. "Mom, don't call me that. And you know I'm not in StarClan! I'm in the Dark Forest, remember?"

"Well, you should be in StarClan," Yellowfang meowed. "You did nothing wrong!"

"Are you kidding me?" Nightcloud asked, her voice rising. "He kicked elders out of the camp, killed kits, blamed you for the kits' deaths and exiled you, and invaded my Clan and drove us away!"

"You can't prove anything," Yellowfang muttered, looking away.

Brokenstar nodded. "Haven't you ever heard of 'innocent until proven guilty'?"

"You ARE guilty!" Nightcloud exclaimed.

The ragged tabby glanced at his mother. "Mom, how do you put up with this thing?"

Nightcloud folded her paws across her chest. "I am not a thing!" she huffed.

Yellowfang shrugged, looking at her son. "I have no idea. She doesn't like you, Broken-kitty."

"Would you please not call me that?" Brokenstar asked.

"Anything for you, Angelkins."

The tom sighed, shaking his head. "Can't you just call me Brokenstar?"

"But I love you too much to call you by your normal name!" Yellowfang insisted.

Brokenstar closed his eyes, admitting defeat. "You couldn't just be a normal parent for once, could you?"

Nightcloud, having had enough of this, exclaimed, "You both make me sick!"

"Watch it, you," Brokenstar hissed. "I could drive WindClan away again."

"You wouldn't dare!" the black she-cat gasped.

The tom bunched his haunches, preparing to spring at Nightcloud. "Just watch me! I'll start with you!"

Nightcloud's eyes widened as Brokenstar leaped off of his chair. She jumped out of her chair and ran around the stage, her guest in hot pursuit. "#yellowyhelp #pleasehelp #imnotathing"

"Isn't my son darling?" Yellowfang asked, watching her son proudly.

"#sure #illsayanythingifyouhelpme" Nightcloud cried.

"Broken-pumpkin is such a perfect little boy!"

Tansy glared at the host, not believing the gray she-cat would refuse to help Nightcloud. "You're a loon, Yellowfang."
