Logan walked out of James' room, quietly closing the door behind himself, head bowed down, frown on his face. His hand lingered on the door knob for a moment as he looked down at it. He rested his forehead against the hard wood of James' bedroom door and sighed, allowing his pain to exit his body through the small exhale. He slowly pulled himself away and went downstairs to the living room where he heard everyone gathered around, talking.
He barely noticed Kendall and Jo sitting on the couch, nursing coffee mugs, as his eyes were drawn to Camille's small body, all curled up into herself, sitting on the floor, by the fireplace. It wasn't cold outside and the fire wasn't needed, but she'd made one anyway, the way she always did when she felt cold on the inside. She was just watching the flame lick away at the two logs she'd put in.
Logan stepped into the living room boldly making his presence known.
"Did you talk to Momma Knight?" He asked Kendall. Camille didn't even turn. A new wave of sadness hit Logan's heart, knowing Camille's heart was shattered. He moved to sit by her side as Kendall replied.
"Yes. She's going to LA tonight..."
"She had no idea about anything..." Jo added with a small voice, on the verge of tears herself.
Logan nodded shortly sitting by Camille, wrapping his arm around her shoulders, pulling her to his chest. Camille followed without protest, leaning into him, accepting the conosolation he was offering, She cuddled into him as much as she could and Logan wrapped her into a tight embrace.
"At least we know whe won't be alone anymore..." Logan said sometime later.
"I just pray Mom can talk some sense into her..."
"Kendall... you know your sister..." Jo piped up. "Your mom knows her even better. She won't say anything on the subject..."
Logan turned to look at Kendall and his wife as silence found its way between them again. A heavy, lingering silence, making the pain in all of their hearts clear as the light of day, the air thick with things unsaid.
"I think I need to go to LA..." Kendall whispered. Jo looked at him long and hard. She finally nodded as Camille stood up.
"I'm going with you." She proclaimed.
"Camille... it's not the best ide..." Logan tried to reason with her but shut his mouth once Camille raised a small but firm hand.
"She never left me alone when I needed support. I'm going."
"What about Nikki?" Logan asked, a little pang of emptiness in his chest.
"I'll take care of Nikki." Jo offered with a smile. Logan was never more gateful for her than right in that moment when Camille nodded and accepted Jo's offer. It was selfish of him, but Nicole staying behind would mean that Camille would not be gone many days. And, more importantly, would mean that Camille would come back. Not leave again. The way she had... Logan visibly shivered at the thought. Jo noticed, though she said nothing.
"We'll go the day after tomorrow. I still have to take care of a few things with Jeanine tomorrow." Kendall said with determination.
"Ok. I'll book the flights and maybe you can talk to Momma Knight... see if she can convince Katie to let us stay with her..."
"Convince her?" Kendall uttered on a low voice. "Convince her!?" He squealed. "Mom will convince Kate of NOTHING! We ARE staying with her, even if I have to fucking break down the door! She will listen to us, she WILL listen to reason if it's the God damn last thing I do!" Kendall whisper-screamed, his eyes ablaze, anger rolling off of him in waves, as he still managed enough self control to remember James and the kids sleeping upstairs. Jo took his hand in hers and gave it a little squeeze. Logan watched as Kendall's anger subsided a little at his wife's touch.
"calm down, honey. Anger never solved anything." Jo smiled her motherly smile at her husband. Kendall nodded.
"I know, honey, I know... it's just... my sister, for all of her smarts, can be SO STUPID some times..."
"We all get a little stupid at times..." Logan chimed in, hoping to help Kendall chill a little.
"There's stupid... and then there's Kate!" Kendall huffed, leaning back into the couch, carefull balancing his mug on his thigh as he let out a huff of air, forcing himself to relax. He turned to Jo and smiled. "What would I do without you?" He pulled Jo's hand to his lips and pressed a small kiss on her knuckles. "You're my voice of reason."
Jo blushed slightly and Logan adverted his eyes wanting to give them a small amount of privacy. Instead he focused on Camille. She had sat down on the armchair by Logan's side, bitting down on her thumb nail, the way she did when she was deep in thought. He leaned back onto the armchair and Camille unconsciously let her hand fall onto his shoulder. Logan linked their fingers together.
"Share?" He asked quietly looking up at her. Camille blinked twice, thrice before she understood Logan's request. She shook her head and shrugged.
"It's nothing. I was just thinking about everything I need to do tomorrow... book the flight to LA... talk to Nikki... explain why I'm going... why she won't come with me..."
"Wanna do that together?" Logan asked with a smile. Camille stopped listing her tasks. She seemed a little taken aback, as if she had not expected Logan to offer.
"I'd actually love that..." She actually smiled a little while she nodded. "It would be better for her... having a father is still new to her and..." Camille stopped and looked right into Logan's eyes. "It may do good for her to spend time with you alone..."
Logan smiled. "Some good will come of this yet." Camille caressed his cheek, a dreamy look in her eyes as she bent down a little to place a small, chaste kiss on Logan's lips.
"I love you, Logan." A small tear fell from the corner of Camille's eye and Logan wiped it away with his thumb. "And I'm so happy we found our way back to one another... I just wish..."
"That Katie can find her way back to James the way you found yours to me?" Logan finished for her as Camille chocked on her own words. She closed her eyes, bit down on her own lip and nodded. "She will. I know she will." Logan kissed her lips one more time before standing up and sitting on the arm rest, Camille hiding her face in his belly, as tears came to surface beyond her control. Logan rubbed her back.
Jo looked at them with sad eyes from under Kendall's arm. Kendall matched her look without even knowing.
"Please don't jump at her throat... much..." Logan told Kendall.
Kendall raised a single eyebrow challenging Logan. He just shrugged innocently kissing Camille's head.
