I don't own Divergent.

Okay, everyone. I'm back. Kind of. It's a hard time for me, but I'm going to TRY to update at least once a week. I'm on spring break with my insane family, so I don't know...especially with all this junk...but I'll do my best. Thank you, everyone, for being faithful and amazing readers.

One response to a follower: Yes, I do know that Uriah's and Zeke's surname is "Pedrad." However, I like "Montenegro" better...so yeah. Montenegro it is (BONES ROCKS!). Thank you for reviewing, though!

I'm sure I look panicked right now. "Tobias Eaton, tell me what happened to Zeke. Now."

Tobias looks away. Then he looks back and opens his mouth…and says, "Zeke had part of his lower left leg amputated."

"Why!?" I yell.

Tobias looks down, and Lance speaks up. "Some of the shrapnel hit him in the leg. It was burning and caused bad burns all over his leg. Third-degree ones. Ones we couldn't do anything about but amputate his leg. Erudite is giving him a prosthetic, but…" Lance takes a breath. "It'll be different. Max is letting him stay in Dauntless because of the…circumstances, and he'll be given some special points each month because of the leg. He's a little depressed because of it, too."

I look down. "Is it our fault?" I ask quietly.

Tobias speaks up, "No, it's my fault."

"Tobias, I was the one that made the decision for you," I point out. "I told you that every second we left them in there was a second longer that they got hurt."

"And that was true," Lance answers. "This is neither of your faults. Peter held Zeke in front of him."

"Where are they?" I rasp. I cough.

Tobias limps over and holds a glass of water to my lips. I gulp at it greedily and then wait for the response. "Eric is dead," he says grimly. "Peter, Will, and Caleb are being evaluated. Marcus…Marcus is being dealt with by Abnegation. I don't know how well they'll be able to make a fair decision, but with the overwhelming evidence against him, I'd be surprised if he didn't get thrown out."

I look over Tobias with scrutinizing eyes. "Are you okay?" I ask, so quiet I know Tobias can barely hear it, and Lance can't. He gives me a fake happy look. "Don't you dare try that with me, Tobias Eaton," I warn.

Tobias looks away. When he looks back at me, his eyes are filled with pain. Pain he'd only ever let me see. "Not so good," he replies.

"C'mere," I whisper, scooting over. Toby lays down next to me and buries his face in my neck.

"I was scared," he admits. "I was scared. I was scared you wouldn't come back for me. I couldn't handle life without you."

I kiss him softly. "I will never leave you like that on purpose, Tobias."

Tobias takes deep breaths to calm himself. "I love you. I love you. I love you," he repeats, like a mantra.

"Toby," I add. "How're you doing with everything else?"

His face immediately becomes more guarded and I give him a stern look. He sighs. "Not so good. Can we talk about it later?"

I nod. "Thank you, Tobias, for your honesty," I tell him, smirking slightly.

My boyfriend chuckles and kisses the end of my nose. "I love you, Tris, but we should probably reply to Lance. I believe he's been talking at us for pretty much this entire conversation."

I chuckle and look over to Lance, who's leaning against the wall, a slightly annoyed look on his face. "You guys done?" he asks. "'Cause, if you are, we could get back to making you better. Just an idea."

I smirk. "Go ahead, kid."

"You're younger than me," he points out.

I shrug. "Go ahead."

He starts spouting some medical mumbo jumbo and I feel Tobias doze beside me. He wraps his arms around me and I doze off, too.

Next thing I know, I'm being woken by Tobias' being pulled away from me. I cry out in displeasure, and he opens his eyes, blinking sleepily. Toby looks up at the large man holding him by an arm and yawns. "Can you put me down?" he mumbles.

The man shrugs. "Are you going to get back in that bed with her?"

We both nod. "Of course he is," I add.

The man scoffs. "You guys aren't supposed to stay together."

Tobias shrugs. "She's my girlfriend, bro. I'm going to stay with her either way." Tobias glances over at me. "Lance is on board with it," he adds.

The man sighs and sets Tobias down. Toby walks over to the bed unsteadily and lays next to me, again wrapping his arms around me. I press my face into his neck and exhale happily. I think I hear the man sigh, but then the door closes. I go back to sleep, shielded from the world by Tobias' strong arms.
