So prepare yourself for these final twist and turns of the knife.

RWBY: The Darkness Within

Season 2- Epilogue

Not Your Common Criminal

Slip in the Night like a Black Cat

"Transport 301, requesting docking at Atlesian Flagship. I have clearance from Ozpin, on special cargo." The pilot said as he flew ship with the crate belted down in it to the large Atlesian Airship over the Vale Port.

"Transport 301, you have approval to dock." Came the controller as the pilot slowly guided his ship through the burnt orange sky of the setting sun towards the ship. He hovered briefly in the hangar before deploying his landing gear and setting the bird down. He opened his cockpit doors and stepped out to stretch as the Atlas guards walked up to him.

"Hey, so what's this special cargo from Ozpin?" One of them asked.

"How the hell should I know," The pilot replied, "Probably something fancy for the General to celebrate his victory over Ozpin."

"Hey, watch it pal." The Other guard said as they lifted the crate off the ship. "Geez this is heavy, what's in it?"

"Who gives a shit, let's set it down and go back on patrol." The first guard replied as they dropped the crate and walked towards the gate, "Alright Smithy, swipe your card."

The other guard reached for his card, but found it missing and turned around to see the crate with it's lid off and a boy in a red hoodie in front of them. "Hey." The boy said before the guard's vision went black.

Break out the Criminal

After Knives cleared up the 'misunderstanding' with the two guards, he quickly dragged them to the crate before anyone reported and tossed them in, donning one of their armors and storing his equipment in the back corner with the two parachutes he'd brought with him. "Thanks Oli." Knives said to the pilot who nodded and waved him off.

"If asked, you took me hostage." Oli said with a grin, "Don't wanna know what you're doing here, but Ozpin's letting it happen and it's about time these Atlesians got off their high horse."

"Yeah, well I'll see you on the other side." Knives said as he donned the helmet and popped the door working his way down the hall, pistol at his side looking official. He passed rows of other soldiers all about patrolling the sectors as he tried to find a map that would show him the way to the prisoners section. He quickly located what he thought was a map and made his way towards the cells, and was surprised that no one stopped him. It was then that he heard over the intercoms, "We've found two troops unconscious in the hangar stashed in a crate, be on the look for anyone who isn't in their appointed sector! We're locking the ship down!" They cried. Knives took off at full sprint towards the prison sector as he could hear the shout of guards behind him as he ran down to the door, quickly opening and shutting it before orienting himself in the thirty seconds he likely had before they opened it themselves.

"Alright, focus." He said as he ran back towards the cells in the back, looking for the names on the cells.

"Hey kid, you mind letting me out?" A gloved hand and sly voice called to him from the back.

"Not really, I'm here for another inmate." He said looking until he found the name and opened the cell as the girl before him blinked in the light.

"Knives?" Ryzia asked.

"No time, just get up and move." He said pulling her up before shooting her restraints, the door opened and he quickly fired a few warning shots at the door as the guards backed away and he looked for and alternate exit. Instead, Ryzia pulled him back into her cell and placed a hand over his mouth before she closed her eyes and he felt her aura wash over him. A guard came to the front of her cell and stared into the darkness angrily before moving on.

"They must have gone in the vents or something, hurry up and get the ship on lockdown!" He cried as the others spread out.

"Why did you come for me?" She whispered.

"Long story, one I'll fill you in on when we escape." He said as they moved slowly towards the exit of her cell.

"What's the exit strategy?" She asked.

"I'm still working on that, let's just improvise for now." He said as he walked out and quickly bolted towards the door he'd come from with Ryzia in tow. He checked the hallway carefully and the guards were still in a frenzy, but none of them were looking in the direction of the prison cells. He turned to Ryzia, "Okay, so my plan is just rush out and make it to the hangar."

"Okay, does that come with details?" She asked.

"Only two." He said readying the Dust grenades Luxus had made him, "One." He said tossing the Ice grenade in the hallway where it went off in a V pushing the guards against the walls as he bolted out with Ryzia behind him. They leapt through the middle of the V and kept running closing in on the hangar where Knives had left his gear, there were still a few guards in the way so he primed the Lightning grenade, "Two!" He yelled chucking it as it went off stunning the guards as they rushed in and he quickly went for his gear. He tossed her a parachute as the guards recovered and stormed in pointing their guns at the pair. "Jump!"

"What!?" She screamed as he took off at full speed and leapt out of the hangar and she hesitantly followed, waiting to pull her chute until they had reached terminal velocity. They descended onto the city as she wondered what he had in store for her.

Behind Closed Doors

Cyan angrily ate the pizza that Caedan had brought to their small apartment, as Caedan told him of what happened earlier that day. "So Alex came by and dropped off a case, and said that I was to place a lease on the apartment next door and cover the rent with the Lien he gave me."

"And was there enough?" Cyan asked.

"Not surprisingly, but apparently he's borrowed a lot of money from his rich friend to bankroll his lifestyle for a few months. Knowing Alex' minimalistic habits it'll probably last him half a year." Caedan joked.

Just then there was a knock at the door and Cyan strained to stand, but Caedan motioned for him to stay put while he went to get the door. He opened it and Knives stepped in, "Thank god you're alive." Knives said, "I knew they couldn't kill you out in Wurfel."

"They almost did, what's with you moving back to the slums Alex?" Cyan asked.

"Well cousin, it's time I start moving in on Cain. I know he is paying you well, but I'd prefer if you kept my activities to yourself so I don't become a lab rat." He paused, "You know, because family means so much to you." He added angrily.

"Yeah, yeah." He replied, "And while you're laying low, we'll provide food and water. Wouldn't want you being arrested so easily." He finished as he noticed the girl in the doorway. "Who's your friend?"

"Someone necessary, it's been good to see you, but I need to start work as soon as possible." He said as he left with the woman, while Cyan grit his teeth. Things were getting out of hand.

The Crimson Clad Gentleman

The chains against his skin were cold and rough, and they bit into his flesh. His blood trickled down them with a methodical drip, drip, drip as it hit the floor. The door at the far end of the room opened, shedding light on the red and black checkered floor with the red velvet curtains and the single mahogany chair with a red velvet cushion. The lamps flicked on as he saw the man before him, it was a young boy in a red hoodie who shared his appearance, his hair was more of a mess and his eyes much stonier than the chained man, but they were identical. The chained man grinned and began to laugh, a wheezing laugh from weeks of silence, now broken by the appearance of his vessel. "So, the great and all powerful Bloody Knives decides to grace me with his presence, how may I help you today?" The chained man asked, affixed upon his crucifix of chains.

"Hello Johann," Knives replied staring at his reflection, "I believe it's time we had a serious chat about Cain."

Johann grinned a wicked grin and laughed slowly in a hushed tone before meeting the boy's eyes, "Oh we have much to talk about, oh so much to talk about."

What does he have to talk about you ask!? I guess you'll just have to wait...see you then!
