Home had never looked as appealing as China dragged his feet down the road. Head still aching and the number of sore places on his body far too many to count, the brunette nation had looked far better returning home from battle than he did today after attending a simple meeting. The modest building looked quiet and deserted as the sun was beginning to set and red and orange stretched across the darkening sky, something he was incredibly grateful for. The last thing he really wanted was to be disturbed by anyone giving him a surprise "visit."
His feet continued to protest the shortening journey and with each step he tried to remind himself of what lay ahead. "I had that meal set out... With new spices... Needs to be savoured..."
As much as thoughts of some interesting new dish to try was helping to keep him motivated towards the approaching building, it wasn't enough to keep his mind off of the events of the day. The entire scenario replayed itself in his head so many times while he travelled and with each new viewing of the events of the day's failed meeting he couldn't help but feel more and more defeated. He was far older than any of those in attendance and as such had seen more than all of them combined. He already knew where all of this was headed and he was on the losing side.
A sigh with the next step forward and he shook his head, wincing at the sudden pain that shot through it. "It is fairly hopeless, isn't it?" he muttered to himself as he once again saw himself fighting Japan. All of their movements as they attempted to find the opening in the other or that sudden spark or worry that appeared in Japan's eyes when England nearly caught him off guard. They were all skilled fighters and in that setting the talent of each could be displayed: Japan with his quick reflexes that kept him from nearly being struck more than once, England with his resourcefulness that added to China's own attacks to make them stronger, and finally to himself who the brunt of the attacks had come from. His only complaint was that he hadn't found and taken advantage of an opening sooner.
And all too soon, the ending of their fight came and he was once again reminded of the pain at the back of his head. Running his fingers over the large lump that had formed caused hissing as the still tender skin was touched as well as when he was caught in the tangled mess that had become his normally sleek ponytail. Grumbling as he tried to extract his hand from the knots without tugging too much on the hair his mind seemed to find now a good time to remind him of all the similar times the others had taken advantage of him.
"It's not just Canada," he grumbled, searching through his pockets for keys, "the others do it as well. America, England, France…" a slight hiss, "Russia… They're all mean to me and I'm tired of it. Westerners…" he moaned with a shake of his head, "it's always the same."
At last he was standing before his door, though it did little to improve his mood. Hand on the doorknob he sighed once more, "I wish there was a way to not let them take advantage of me…" and swung the door open to meet the person standing inside his home.
"You!" he screamed, gripping his door to keep himself steady, "What do you want?" A full ten seconds past while he evaluated the costume to the angel standing in front of him and he shook his head, "I'll never understand Europeans…"
Britannia Angel, though should have been used to these sorts of comments by now, still huffed and crossed his arms as he broke into his usual speech. "I'm here to grant you one wish. Whatever you want, but if you're offering something I wouldn't mind another one of those things you made at my house last month…"
"You can't have any!" China argued before taking some time to think over what he had just been told. "Is this a trick?"
"I would not be here and dressed so absurdly if it was."
China nodded slowly and shut the door behind him. "What sort of things can be wished for? Could I wish for prosperity or good health?"
The angel shrugged. "If you want… Most everyone tends to wish for the thing that is bothering them the most at the time."
"You do this for others?" He hummed when he received a nod in confirmation and thought it over. "Like if I had just been thinking about how I would like to make it so I wasn't taken advantage of all the time…?"
"If that's what you want." The angel materialized his wand into his hand. "Is that your wish?"
China gave it another moment to think it over before nodding. "Yes."
"Then say the magic words and I'll grant it for you." Britannia Angel's wings rustled as he got into his wish granting stance with wand extended as if he were fencing. It wasn't helping his reputation with the other of not looking any more ridiculous.
China tilted his head. "There are magic words?"
Britannia Angel frowned. "Just… say that is what you wish for."
"That is my wish…?"
With a groan the angel waved his wand. "Close enough…"
