Brandon sat in one the practice rooms at the Jacobs Music Center ready to bang his head against the piano. He had been there for about an hour now trying to get this music down and it just didn't seem to be happening for him. His time signature and meters were all off and his inability to read his staff and clefs made him feel like he was in preschool.

Brandon took a deep breath trying to find his calm space and center himself. He needed to forget all his past failed attempts to complete this music and believe this next attempted everything would flow freely from his fingers to the keys. He wasn't even three lines in when he struck the wrong cord…again.

"You have got to be kidding me," he growled in frustration slamming his hands up and down the keys.

"Hey what did that piano ever do to you?"

Brandon jumped slightly and turned to see Jeff, one of the younger violinists in the San Diego Symphony.

"Nothing except not play what I want it too," Brandon chuckled.

"Ohh that sounds like an operator problem not an equipment problem," he smiled slapping him playfully on the back. "Don't worry we have all been there."

"Really?"

"Oh yeah! You know most of the time when I am first learning a piece that I know will be challenging I don't practice on my baby," he said referring to the violin he uses in performances.

"What do you use," Brandon asked curious as to where this is going?

"The cheapest one I can find because odds are I am going to break it when I throw it against a wall."

Brandon wouldn't help but laugh. He knew if he could pick this piano up he would certainly take great pleasure in watching it smash against a wall.

"I'm telling you kid we have all been there."

"How do you get past the mental block?"

"You just have to find a way to relax, everyone is different. Some people just sleep it off, others grab a drink, hit the gym, read a book…whatever helps them shake things loose."

"What do you do?"

"Food is my fix…I was going to save these for later but it sounds like you could use them a lot more than me."

Brandon took the bag from Jeff and saw there were 4 brownies inside.

"Brownies?"

"Yes, very special brownies. You will have a whole new perspective and create some beautiful music after these bad boys."

Brandon looked them over seeing they did in fact look like regular brownies. He wasn't so sure why they were special or how life changing they could be but at this point he was willing to try anything.

"Take these and the sheet music and get out of here. Go relax, have a brownie and enjoy. The music will come to you when it is not forced."

"Thanks Jeff."

"Any time kid."

Brandon arrived home to a silent house. Sometimes it amazed him that with seven people living there the house was ever empty. He walked into the kitchen and tossed the brown back on the kitchen island. He certainly couldn't have a brownie without a glass of milk. He took out a small plate placing one of the brownies on it before getting a glass and filling it with milk. He took the brownie, milk and sheet music and headed up to his room.

"Hey love," Stef said answering her phone.

"Hey are you home yet?"

"I am just walking in the door now. I think Brandon is floating around here but I don't think any of the other kids are home yet."

"Most of them won't be home until later so we are going to have a slightly later dinner. I will be home in about an hour but Jesus, Mariana and Jude won't be home until closer to 7."

"Wahhhh I am hungry now," Stef playfully whined.

"Then get a snack but try and keep it healthy."

"Yeah, right always," stef said her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"You're worse than the kids."

"Love you too."

"See you soon bye."

Stef tossed her keys on the table before heading upstairs to change. She stopped by Brandon's room to check on him before heading back downstairs.

"Hey love how was your day," she asked standing in the doorway.

"Stressful," Brandon mumbled his arms thrown over his face as he laid in bed.

"Aw what happened?"

"I reverted back to preschool piano playing."

"Oh really….had trouble mastering twinkle twinkle little star did ya?"

"Pretty much felt like it. One of the guys in the symphony said it happens to everyone at some point and I needed to step away and relax for a little before trying again."

"Sounds like a good idea. We aren't going to have dinner until about 7pm so you have a little extra time to relax. I know you will do great kiddo, hang in there."

"Thanks mom."

Brandon sighed not feeling as confident as his mom was. He reached over to the bedside table and took a huge bite from the brownie.

Stef walked into the kitchen in search of a snack. With seven people in the house food was either fully stocked or the shelves were barren. Thankfully Lena had just been to the store and house was stocked with snacks. Stef had every intention of trying to find a healthy snack that was until she saw a bag of brownies sitting on the table.

"Hmm chocolate comes from the Cacoa tree and is inside a fruit so technically chocolate is a fruit and fruit is totally healthy…boom healthy snack for me," Stef said proudly taking a large bite of the brownie.

Stef didn't give it a second thought before consuming the rest of the large brownie savoring every moment of it. She knew the old saying a moment on the lips forever on the hips but she didn't care she loved her chocolate and figured everything in moderation was fine.

Lena was thankful she was able to get home earlier than she had thought. Her last meeting was canceled and she found herself walking through the door only 30 minutes after speaking to Stef. She didn't find it odd that the house was quiet as most of the kids were still out.

"Lena thank god your home," Brandon said running down the stairs.

"What's wrong," Lena asking thinking something was seriously wrong the way her son was acting.

"I can't play the piano."

"What," she asked very confused?

"I can't play the piano I forget how. If I can't play the piano the world is going to stop spinning. If the world stops spinning no one will get older and we will all be stuck in time. It would be so bad to be stuck in time. I need to get older so I can marry Callie, but if I can't play the piano Callie is going to leave me. I can't have Callie leave me I love her," Brandon said suddenly crying and diving into Lena's arms.

Massively confused, Lena was caught off guard when her 19 year old son threw himself into her arms. She stumbled slightly but recovered comforting the clearly distraught teen. Lena looked around wondering if she was being punk and her other kids would jump out any moment yelling 'Gotcha'. After a few moments to process the situation and realizing something was clearly wrong with her son she tried to gather some facts.

"Brandon, look at me baby," Lena said grabbing his face to get him to focus.

Lena observed her son for a moment and noticed his eyes were slightly glazed although he was just in tears. He had a sheen of perspiration across his face and his breathing was slightly labored. Lena held her arm out to the right and snapped her fingers. Brandon took a beat before he eyes wondered over to where the noise was coming from. Before Lena could say anything the front door opened and Callie walked into the house.

"Callie please don't leave me," Brandon said flinging himself into her arms before the door even shut behind her. "I promise I will learn to play the piano again so the world can keep spinning and we can get married."

Callie held on to Brandon, but looked at Lena totally confused.

"I think Brandon is slightly high," Lena informed Callie using the word slightly very loosely.

"What," she yelled shocked? "Brandon baby are you ok," Callie asked pulling back from him slightly only to have him tighten his grip on her.

"Callie please take him upstairs and stay with him. I am going to find mom and then we will be up in a few minutes."

Callie nodded her head in agreement.

"Come on baby lets go upstairs," Callie said gently knowing Brandon was not in a good state right now.

"You're not leaving me?"

"I am never going to leave you baby," she said pulling him a little closer as she helped him to the stairs.

Lena watched as Callie and Brandon disappeared up the stairs. She sighed and picked the bridge of her nose between her fingers before chuckling a little. Brandon certainly was not a relaxed pot person.

"Stef," Lena called out walking into the kitchen.

"Shhhhhhh."

Lena spun around trying to pinpoint where the noise just came from. Not seeing anyone around her Lena bent over and sure enough found her wife under the kitchen table.

"Umm babe what are you doing?"

"Hiding," she whispered loudly.

"Uh huh."

What the hell was going on?

"Stef what are you….oh my god," Lena trailed off suddenly realizing what the issue was. "You're high."

What the hell was going on in this house? There was no way Stef and Brandon would chill at home hitting the bong together. They had a great relationship but that was just too much. She could not believe this was happening. As much as she wanted to lose it she knew she had to stay extremely calm and patient now dealing with two stoned people.

"Ok love I need you to come out from under the table. I am home now I will protect you."

Stef eyed Lena clearly contemplating her next actions.

"How are you going to protect me when you're not armed? Here take this," Stef said handing over a wood spoon.

"Umm thanks what was I thinking not being umm armed," Lena questioned as she tried to be serious about holding a wooden spoon for protection.

Whatever she it took and Stef finally came out from under the table. Lena brought her into the living room and sat her down on the couch.

"Stef you're stoned," Lena just came right out and said it.

However, Stef didn't hear it. Her eyes had drifted to the large glass window.

"All right babe maybe we should go upstairs and…

"OH NO THE COPS," Stef yelled flipping over the back of the couch when she heard sirens outside and proceeded to army crawl back into the kitchen.

At the same time she heard her son running down the stairs.

"COPS, COPS, COPS SCATTER," Brandon yelled jumping off the stairs into the kitchen, ripping open the back door and rushing into the back yard.

"BRANDON WAIT," Callie called after him. "I swear I only left him alone for a moment and he makes a jail break," Callie explained running into Lena in the kitchen.

Callie was just about to head into the back yard to get Brandon when she noticed Stef under the table.

"Umm Lena."

"Yeah, I know she is stoned too just go get Brandon before he is running down the street."

Callie turned to the door before turning back to Lena almost unable to believe the situation herself.

"Right…Brandon," she said turning back to track down Brandon.

"Stef come out from there."

"No way 5-0 are everywhere."

"Stef you're the police."

"No, way."

"Yes, way Stef you're a police officer."

"Oh man that sucks I am after myself," Stef said looking like someone just kicked her puppy.

"How is that even possible," Lena shook her head thanking god she never did drugs?

"I refuse to surrender," Stef said shooting out from under the table and taking off. "You're not going to get me 5-0 I am quick like a cat…..you can't see me," Lena heard Stef yell as she ran from room to room.

Before Lena could go after Stef, Callie walked in with Brandon.

"Found him trying to scale the fence."

"Dare I ask why he was scaling the fence?"

"You're better off not knowing. Where is Stef? And how the hell did this happen?"

"Stef is hiding from herself because she is the police and the police are after her," Lena explained like it was the most logical thing ever.

"Huh."

"Yeah, exactly. Don't do drugs!"

"How did they both get high?"

"Hmm brownie," Brandon said spotting the remaining brownies on the kitchen table.

Lena and Callie both looked where Brandon was and grabbed the bag from his hands. It was all making sense now. She knew there was no way her wife would willingly get stoned. Brandon may or may not have intended this result but she was certain after tonight he would never do it again.

"Brandon no," Lena said grabbing the bag from him and tossing it on the counter out of his reach. "Callie take Brandon into the living room and I will go get Stef. Under no circumstances should you leave him," Lena instructed.

It took some wrangling but Callie finally got Brandon into the living room and settled on the couch. Callie could hear Lena upstairs trying to reason with her wife that everything would be ok. It took another few minutes before Lena was guiding Stef down the stairs and into the living room. Callie saw Stef's eyes go wide when she saw Brandon sitting on the couch and should have known something was up. Lena plopped Stef down on the couch next to Brandon.

"All right we need to get some water and food into them," Lena explained. "And then we just have to wait this out."

"Has Stef ever had pot before?"

"She tried it before but it was before my time. She said she had a bad reaction to it but I never pictured this. Has Brandon ever had pot before?"

"Not that I am aware of…he has had alcohol but never drugs….I can see why. Like mother like son huh…I am sure one day we will look back on this and laugh."

"Yeah, just not today. I am going to get them some water and food you stand guard by the front door and I will keep an eye out in the kitchen."

Callie nodded and sat on the step by the front door as Lena headed into the kitchen. Meanwhile on the couch the two paranoid stoners where formulating a plan.

"There the cops," Stef whispered.

"What," Brandon said almost jumping off the couch?

"Don't worry I am the cops too and I am not going to let me get us."

"Oh good, good," Brandon said calmly agreeing with her.

"We just have to be real stealth like….follow my lead."

Stef slid off the couch and started her army crawl again into the kitchen. Callie saw this out of the corner of her eye and waited for a minute to see what Brandon would do. Sure enough he followed his mom squirming along the floor. Callie hoped up and took the other way into the kitchen. Lena was about to ask her what she was doing when she saw Stef and Brandon slowly trying to inch past her. Callie pulled out her cell phone and recorded this moment for future use.

"All right inch worms get up," Lena said.

"Busted."

"Yup, now get up and march back into the living room."

"Damn these cops are tough," Stef mumbled before heading back into the living room.

Callie and Lena brought in food and some water bottles for them. They quickly downed the sandwiches and water. Lena turned on the TV hoping that would distract them for a little while. Sure enough an hour later they hadn't moved and seemed to have substantially calmed down.

"How you feeling," Lena asked her wife?

"Why do people do this voluntarily," Stef mumbled?

"I don't know," she laughed.

"Never again…I am too old for this."

"You were pretty funny."

"Oh please let's not talk about this day ever again."

"Trust me love today is a day that will come up frequently," Lena said with a smile.

The front door burst open and Jesus, Mariana and Jude come through the door.

"When is dinner I am starving," Jesus said immediately.

With everything that had been going on over the last couple hours Lena hadn't even put thought to dinner.

"All right go in the kitchen and grab a small snack and I will order pizza."

"Really," Jesus said surprised.

"Yes, it's just been a long day."

The kids scurried off into the kitchen before Lena could change her mind. Stef, Lena, Callie and Brandon settled again on the couch when they heard Jesus' choice of snack.

"Oh cool BROWNIES."

Callie and Lena looked at each other for a split second.

"NOOOOOOOO," they yelled jumping off the couch practically following over each other to get to the kitchen before they had another stoned person on their hands.
