Colorado

January 5, 13:37 UTC

Flying high above the Earth, the fully loaded Supercycle traveled at a high rate of speed with its three riders safely buckled in their seats. The cyborg was wrapped from head to toe in even more bungee cord Garfield had bought at another convenience store. He didn't bother going up to the clerk this time but did leave the last of his money and the tags on the counter as he left. The animal control thing from the first stop still annoyed him.

Stirring from her sleep, Raven gave a soft groan as she put a hand to her head. The wind swept the small amount of hair not wrapped under the white gauze, which surprised her once her fingertips touched it. Her eyes shot open, sending a pain through the front of her head from the brightness of the sun as she felt along the medical covering before noticing where she was.

The first thing to catch her attention was the front of the Supercycle as the handlebars were unmanned. The second sight was a green hound dog curled up in the corner of the seat she was on. A basket filled with trash, drinks, and snacks sat on the floor of the vehicle, urging her to take one of the bottles and drink until it was empty. Grabbing the plastic carrier, she dug through the wrappers and empty bottles until she found a bottle of water and several sticks of beef jerky. Opting for the water, she quickly ripped the cap off and began drinking quickly.

"Hi."

Lowering the bottle from her lips, Raven peered out of the corner of her eye to see Garfield had woken up and was in human form, his green skinned human form.

"How's your head? I put some iodine and gauze on where you got cut."

Touching the gauze again, Raven lowered her head and donned her hood. "…"

"Huh?" Trying to look to see if she were bleeding again, the teen boy moved closer to hear better.

"I…I said, thanks."

Grabbing the med kit, Garfield moved closer to her. "It was nothing. I really should see if it needs changing."

"N, no. I got it."

"No, I got it. I don't mind. I can clean it and-"

"I said no!" she snapped, forcing the young boy to jerk back slightly then immediately changed her tone. "I mean, I got it."

Dropping the kit next to her, Garfield moved to the other side of the seat. "I was just trying to help. You were bleeding and unconscious after the fight."

"Well I didn't ask you to bring me along to wherever it is your taking me." Pulling off the gauze, the Goth girl flinched from some of the dried blood being pulled off with the wrapping. She folded the bloody cloth and pressed it to her brow to make sure fresh blood wasn't seeping out. She then went to clean her cut and stole another glance at the boy beside her.

"Look, no one helps me. I always do things for myself."

"Fine. You can bandage your cut. But you could be a little less rude about it. You were knocked out and bleeding, I couldn't leave you in a graveyard over night after fighting the cyborg."

"You don't get it." She turned to face the young boy but stayed hidden behind her hood. "No one helps me. It's…it's just the way it's always been."

"Why?" Turning to face the girl again, Garfield gave her his full attention. "Cause of your charming personality?"

"It…it's because of who I am. If you knew, you wouldn't want anything to do with me either."

"Well," Garfield said as he tried to get a look at her face, "maybe if you would be a little friendlier, people will want to-"

"You still don't understand." Removing her hood, Raven looked the green teen right in the eyes. "It's who and what I am which has others stay away from me. My…my powers are based on emotion, and the only good they seem to do are to amplify certain abilities of others like magiks or telepathy, which is why I could help you contact that sister of yours."

"Well then, it's a good thing I brought you along with me. Back at the graveyard, the Terminator wannabe showed a hologram of a guy named Klarion. You know him?"

"Can't say I do."

"I think he wants you to amplify his powers. I've only seen him once but sis says he's very bad news. Maybe it's better if you-"

Interrupting their conversation, Sphere's display at the front beeped loudly to alert them of their current whereabouts. Putting a hold on their conversation, Garfield climbed over the middle seat and plopped down in the pilot's chair. He brought up the display screen and saw they were less than a half hour away from where Sphere detected Conner at.

"So what does your girlfriend say?" Raven asked as she continued cleaning her wound up.

"We're close," Garfield answered. "Less than thirty minutes."

Picking up on his feelings, Raven could sense he was worried about finding his sister and friends. Not that she would admit it, it was a feeling she herself wished she could feel. Maybe that was the reason she decided to invade his dreams. It was a way to experience the feeling of the type of warmth that came with having friends and family who cared about each other.

Taking another drink, she let her eyes wonder over the vehicle they were in when she saw the occupier of the middle seat. What liquid was in her mouth was instantly in the air and on Garfield's back as she spat it out.

"You brought that thing!" she yelled. "Why would you bring that thing? It tried to kill us!"

"Calm down." Morphing into a monkey, the green teen skittered to the back seat and returned to his regular self. "He's harmless now. Sphere did her thing and shut him down. I couldn't just leave him back there."

"Yes you could have. He tried to kill us and could try again if he-"

"He won't wake up. Sphere sort of deprogrammed him. I think. She also shut him down and he hasn't moved for the past few hours. I need to get him to my friends so they can see who he was and what he was doing."

"He…tried…to…kill…us," Raven said through gritted teeth.

"I don't think he wanted to. Remember what he said the first time we fought him? He didn't know where he was or what had happened to him. And he really didn't want top go through that Boom Tube portal. Plus," he looked over the cyborg, "I think we can help him when he's back online."

"But why help someone who tied to kill you? Even if it wasn't his idea, why help if someone was controlling and ordering him to be that way?"

Looking back at Raven, Garfield smiled and shrugged. "It's what we do."

Smallville

January 5, 13:56 UTC

The town of Smallville, home to the world's most powerful superhero, things quickly went from bad to absolutely the worst case scenario any of the team members could imagine. Hundreds of the creatures from Watchtower were attacking the two female team members and Wolf who were fighting for their lives. The few cars remaining were soon demolished from either the creatures detonating themselves near them or M'gann throwing them with her telekinesis. Wolf was holding his own but was being pelted by flyby attacks from soldiers who took quick shots at him; however, he never stopped fighting back.

"I hate bugs!" Delivering a hard left hook, Cassie connected her fist to the buggy eyed face of one of the creatures. The force was enough to send it through a wall of the neighborhood ice cream shop.

"Cass, watch your back!" Ripping a billboard from the top of a building, M'gann motioned it to ram three approaching creatures coming in behind Cassie and having them explode once they hit the pavement. "Conner, we really need backup or a way out, now!"

"Working on it!" Switching the third battery he had in the truck, Conner threw it behind him and grabbed a fourth to try. "All these batteries and none have a charge. What else can go wrong?"

As if to answer his question, several of the creatures began banging on the metal walls of the garage in an attempt to break them down. "Tuh, figures."

Back in the middle of Main Street, Cassie flew low to the ground as she avoided numerous blasts from the creature's spears and rifles. She zigzagged constantly and managed to clothesline one of the soldiers who came close enough to attack. Following that, she ripped a parking meter from the sidewalk, came to screeching a halt on the street, and swung it as hard as she could at another chase giving creature.

The hit was so incredibly hard, the top of the meter literally exploded in a shower of metal, glass, and coins. The creature gave a screech as its face imploded and coins landed around its spasming body. It soon became white, causing Cassie to take to the air and clear the area as it exploded, taking a few of the ground walkers with it. Not letting the coins go to waste, M'gann had them rise into the air and fired them at the incoming areal attackers. A number of them went down from having their wings damaged and became streaks on the road. They too exploded once they were injured but more took their place.

"Where's that boy toy of yours!" Cassie yelled as she used the leftover pipe as a bat to knock another soldier out of the air.

"Conner, we could really-" Before the Martian could finish yelling at the Kryptonian, a blue pickup truck came crashing through an alleyway and came to a stop beside a burning car.

"Get in!" Conner ordered.

Getting to the truck first, Cassie landed in the back and kept any incoming creatures from attacking the vehicle. M'gann was next as she landed a round house kick to another creature's face before phasing into the cab beside Conner. She then put up a rotating shield of debris to provide cover, encircling the vehicle in a vortex of metal and concrete.

"Wolf, here boy!" Cassie yelled as the white animal dodged an energy beam from down the street.

Taking down another of the exploding creatures, Wolf took off in a sprint to the others as more and more energy beams shot around him. He was almost to the truck when a number of red beams struck an overturned car, causing it to explode.

"Wolf!" Conner yelled as he ripped is seatbelt off.

"Conner, no!" With her concentration on keeping the vortex up, M'gann could only grab his over shirt and ripped a portion of the back off as he got out of the cab.

The resulting fireball from the car shot high into the air with the red flames reaching for the sky. Conner hadn't the time to get to the remaining debris as more of the beams were fired, a few of which struck him as he yelled his pet's name over again.

"Wolf!" He was forced back by the sheer number of beams striking his body but tried to press on as a fully white creature came at him in a dive-bomb.

He was ready to take the brunt of the explosion when Cassie's lasso snared the charging creature and whirled it into the side of the nearest building as she landed beside him. "Conner, we gotta go! M'gann can't keep the vortex up much longer!"

"Not without-"

With a snarl, Wolf came leaping from the fire engulfing the car and landed on his chest as his front legs gave out. He had been caught with a flying piece of shrapnel from the exploding vehicle and had his pristine white fur stained crimson. Wasting no time, Conner scooped up his pet and flung him over his shoulder as he and Cassie ran back to the truck where M'gann allowed them past the vortex.

Once her boyfriend was back in the cab, M'gann looked into the truck bed to see Cassie tending to the large animal as it whimpered in pain. "Is Wolf-"

"He'll live," Conner said as he shifted the vehicle into drive then muttered, "I hope."

Taking off with the tires peeling out, the truck shot down the road with a number of the, now white, flying creatures giving chase. Swerving left and right to avoid a kamikaze hit, Conner now wished he still had a seatbelt to keep him in place as he fought the g-forces from making him slide back and forth. Beside him, M'gann mentally removed any obstacle in their path such as fallen telephone poles, building materials, destroyed vehicles, and whatever else was destroyed by the incoming exploding creatures and their weapons.

"M'gann!" Cassie yelled through the back window. "Can't you brain blast them or something? Knock them all out?"

"Still think they're victims, Conner?" the Martian asked as she removed, of all things, a fishing boat from the middle of the road. She had it crash into two of the creatures who drew in close.

"If I could, I would mind blast them," Conner responded. "These things aren't like anything we fought before." He had a few scratches on his arms and face from fighting the few that made their way into the garage. With these things as vicious as they were and so bent on their mindless destruction, he could make an exception just this once.

With her eyes flashing green, M'gann tried to get a bead on the creature's minds but was shocked to find there was nothing to find. "What the…they…they have no minds."

"What?"

"They have no minds to speak of. I can't mind rip them apart or read their thoughts or anythi - Cassie, incoming!"

Turning back behind her, the Amazonian saw one of the glowing creatures fire a blast from its spear. She reacted just as she was trained and used her bracelets to reflect the shot away from the vehicle. Bracing herself as best she could, she reflected every shot she could back at the creatures. Some were struck and exploded in a brilliant ball of fire as others dodged what came at them and continued firing or using themselves as bombs when Cassie was it hard by a more powerful blast. It carried enough force to have her crash through the window and hit the dashboard, causing the stereo to come on with Pat Benatar's 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot' blaring over the speakers.

"Rragh, these things are getting on my last nerve!" Cassie yelled as she tried to turn herself over.

"Hang on!" Jerking the wheel to the side, Conner had the truck take a sharp left, causing it to ride on two wheels for a moment then took a sharp right. The ones following them either smashed into the buildings created by the dead ends he avoided or narrowly missing the obstacles M'gann threw their way and continued the chase.

Taking a lesson from a war documentary show she watched, M'gann used some of the trashcans and other debris in the alleys they shot through as chaffs to make the creatures hit those instead of the truck when she saw them turn white to kamikaze them. It worked on around half of the remaining ones but still more followed with others joining the chase.

Pulling on the top of the truck, Cassie forced herself back into the bed area and was struck by a red beam in the shoulder. Ignoring the pain, she continued deflecting the incoming beams while Conner did his best in avoiding the dive-bombers and M'gann tossed whatever she could into the air or caused them to smash into each other when they ran out of road.

"Tell me they didn't take out the bridge to the highway," Conner said as he refused to let up on the gas.

"Cass, hang on!" Using her telekinesis, and the truck's momentum, M'gann lifted the vehicle as it took off from the destroyed part of the road and helped it soar to the undamaged part of the bridge.

They were almost to the other side when one of the glowing white creatures came into view as it screeched and crashed into the truck head first.
