Chapter 45

All was quiet inside the Gummi ship. The three boys were exhausted from their trip through time. Arun, especially, was dead on his feet. He had switched bodies twice already and deserved a bit of rest. It was unanimously decided they'd continue their journey in the morning.

It was too bad Arun couldn't get a wink of sleep.

Arun sighed as he turned in his bed for the twentieth time that night. He was unable to sleep when his thoughts raced through his head. After all that had happened, he couldn't stop thinking about all he's learned from the past.

The several memories he received wove a story he hadn't liked. He wasn't a normal boy like he originally thought, he wasn't really his age, and darkness would never lose its grasp on him. It was part of his being. Without it he wouldn't exist.

Why couldn't he be normal? he thought, dismayed. All he wanted to be was normal. He didn't want to be this thing that wasn't even born a human. He was unnatural. He wasn't sure how he was unnatural yet, but he knew he wasn't human.

If that wasn't bad enough, he was also trying to figure out where he stood in terms of sides.

His friends were supportive of the light. They believed that 'good' would always win and that it was their job to defeat the darkness, which they dubbed 'evil.' If that was true, then where did Arun stand? In the past he understood he was 'evil.' He wanted to cause people suffering and misery-the same kind he was put through himself because of his 'master.' His friends thought that because 'evil' used darkness that meant all darkness was evil. Now that he was the person who grew up in Meryton what was he supposed to be? Was he 'good' or 'evil?'

He still liked it when other people were miserable. He also liked to help people if he benefitted from it or if Arty and Caelum made him. Did that make him evil? Or was he being smart?

He turned those thoughts over and over in his head. So much so he got a headache from it and he couldn't sleep.

A knock on the door brought Arun back to reality. He looked at the clock and was surprised to see it was morning. He hadn't managed to sleep at all! The knocking became more insistent.

"Alright! I'm up," he snapped. Rolling off the bed, he made his way to the door. Jamming his hand on the button that opened the door, he unlocked it.

The door slid open. There stood Max and one look at Arun sent him into confusion, which gave way to concern.

"Jeez, Arun, you look like you were smothered to death," Max said, frowning.

"You look nice, too," Arun shot back. He ran a hand down his tired face to wipe what little sleep he got away. "Was there something you needed? If it's for breakfast, I'll be over in a second."

"Yeah, I came to wake you up for that. Are you okay? You sleep alright?"

"I didn't sleep."

"Why not?"

Arun shrugged. "No clue."

Max's frown deepened. For a moment he bit his lip, contemplating something. Then, he stepped inside the tiny room. The door closed automatically behind him and made the room that much smaller. It certainly wasn't built to fit two teenage boys inside.

"You're not okay. I can tell. Were you up thinking about your past and your powers?" he questioned, softly. He didn't want the serious conversation to be overheard.

This again. This was exactly what Arun wanted to avoid mentioning. Not when he agonized over it all night.

"Max, can we drop it? I'd rather not talk about this right now," Arun said. He was sick of thinking and worrying. In fact he'd rather forget everything he learned. He was better off being the naive boy he was before.

"No, I won't. You can hide the fact you were supposed to be evil from Caelum, but not me." He placed both hands on Arun's shoulders. It both physically and figuratively trapped him. "I'm the only one you can talk to about this. I'm on your side whether you're evil or good, okay?"

His open honesty startled Arun. One of his worries was how his friends wouldn't accept his new dark powers. He barely pieced together his past. What if they rejected him for something he barely understood himself?

Then, he remembered Max already saw some of his powers. Although he was unsure of what they meant for him in the future, Max was willing to remain his friend.

Hearing Max voice it aloud calmed him down.

"Right. I've just...got a lot on my mind," Arun admitted. He sat down on his bed, slipping Max's hands off him. "What am I supposed to do about this? I can use darkness! Our friends battle against those that can wield it. What are they going to say when they find out I can use it, too?"

"Have you checked if you can use it now here in the present?"

Arun held out a hand, his palm faced upwards. Silently, he cast a Firaga spell. Heat burst out into a controlled grasp as it hovered above his palm. However, instead of the trademark orange fire was known for, it was a deep black and purple. Max's jaw hung open. He closed his hand to smother the flames.

"That's when I'm trying to hide the fact I can do that," Arun informed him.

"You were trying to hide it? You must be really powerful," said Max, awed. It was hard to tell if that was a good sign.

"Max, how can I hide it if it shows up like that?"

"I'd tell you to avoid using magic. Then again, it might also apply to your physical attacks, too."

"I have a feeling it will."

"Then, what do we do? It'll be hard to hide it if you fight. Maybe we should tell Caelum or Arty? I'm sure-"

"No." The word came abruptly but definitely. It was chilling enough to make Max freeze. "I'm not telling Caelum or Arty about this. I refuse to tell them."

"And why not?"

"Caelum, for obvious reasons. He'll start saying I'm evil and he'll try to kill me. Arty..." He shuddered. Telling Arty he had control over darkness was an overall bad idea. He absolutely could not tell her. He was nauseous at the thought. "She's under a lot of stress lately. She'll freak if she learned what I'm capable of."

"I know they're your friends and you value them. Heck, you're probably scared they'll think the worst. Personally, I think you're underestimating them. They won't think less of you. They're really worried about you."

"Which is why I can't tell them!"

"Why? Why can't you tell them?" Max demanded. His voice rose louder than Arun had ever heard it outside a battle. It made Arun flinch back. "You're fine telling someone you've known for two months! Telling your friends you've only known for, I don't know, years? That's off the table because...?"

"You were there to help me figure out why I'm the way I am! You're not biased," Arun answered, just as fierce. He clamped down any anger he felt. It was a losing battle. "Caelum has known me since I was an orphan trying to survive on the streets. He thinks anything bad that happens is all my fault."

"He does say that sometimes," Max muttered, low so Arun wouldn't hear. He did anyway. He spoke up. "Then, what about Arty? At least tell her."

"I'm not telling Arty either! You know how she acted telling us what happened to Riku."

Arty saw the descent to darkness Riku had gone through. She hadn't recognized the signs, so she witnessed a friend go down that path and die. Now she feared the darkness and its temptation. If she knew Arun controlled the darkness, she'd...Well, he didn't know what she would do. All he knew was that it wouldn't be pretty.

"She'd react badly to it," Max deduced. "Maybe she won't. If you just explained it to her, she won't."

Arun laughed humorlessly.

"And how would I do that? I couldn't even convince her I was me two months ago until I summoned a Keyblade, which she knew were given to those of the Light. She won't believe me if I showed her I've got more darkness in my heart than light."

"Yeah, but-but-"

"Forget it. I'm not telling them. You better not say anything either." Arun shot Max a warning glare. Max may be his friend, but that didn't mean he'd go easy on him if he tattled. He stood up and pointed to the door. "Now if you don't mind, leave. I need to change."

Max deflated in defeat. Whatever argument he hadn't wouldn't work. He wouldn't listen. Hesitantly, he trudged to the door. It slid open. He stepped out the threshold but paused.

"You shouldn't underestimate Caelum and Arty," he advised. "They may surprise you when they show how much they trust and value you."

Before Arun could get a word it, the door closed as Max left the sensors.

He choked in the back of his throat, irritation stealing his voice. What did Max know? He had no right to give him advice concerning his friends! How could the knight understand he held off on his life's ambition so he could keep his friendship with them? How could he know that those two were his delicate ties to keep himself from screwing everyone over?

Max had no idea how much internal fighting he was going through. How he thought the pros and cons he weighed to keep himself 'good.'

No one would know, he bitterly thought as he grabbed hid day clothes. He worked hard for his current life. There was no way he'd let anything take it away. Even if his enemy was himself. He'd fight to stay in his content life.

Once he got changed, Arun made his way to the cockpit. The doors slid open as he walked up to them.

Stepping inside, he found Max and Caelum in their respective seats. Caelum's head shifted to him at his entrance. Max hardly moved his. He was probably still upset from earlier.

"Took you long enough," Caelum greeted. He placed his faithful book in his lap. "What took you? Couldn't get up or something?"

"Just tired." Arun walked over his seat and slumped in his chair, rubbing his eyes. He was damn tired. He wondered if he would collapse from lack of sleep. Stifling back a yawn, he contemplated sleeping. Screw the morning time. "So what's the game plan this fine morning? What world are we going to now?"

"Right now we don't have a plan," Caelum informed him. "We're still trying to recover from our trip through time. Unless you have a general idea?"

"I don't know. Let's go explore one of the worlds around here? What do you think, Max?"

"Oh, you're asking me for my opinion now?" Max snorted. He pulled up the world map and scanned the area. A single dot appeared in front of them. "There's a world about half an hour away. Is that good enough?"

Arun was taken back at Max's snarky attitude. He nodded dumbly. "Uh, yeah. Sure. That's okay."

Max grumbled to himself, doing as he was told.

Arun glanced at Caelum, who stared back incredulously. The mage jerked his head at Max's back and silently asked one question.

What did you do now?

He shrugged, but he obviously did know why Max was upset. He guessed Max didn't like how he threatened and snuffed him. Caelum scowled, not believing him. As he usually did.

"So, while we're on our way to this new world, let's exchange stories about what happened?" Caelum decided in the tense silence. Either he was trying to break the ice or was oblivious, he was interrupting it. "What was being in the past like for you, Max? I was stuck in daycare again and had to take naps. I forgot how good kindergarteners had it."

"You missed naps?" Max inquired. He chuckled. "Well, when you're a teen you start to miss sleeping during the day when you get busy. I'm training all the time and I miss sleeping except I have to do homework and patrols."

"How was it being a preteen again?"

"Weird. But the time period we came back to was during a festival. It was also at the festival I met Ventus."

Arun tensed. He still couldn't hear that name without getting angry. He glared at Max's back for mentioning it. Why would he?

Caelum noticed his darkened visage and asked, "Who's Ventus?"

"You don't know? That's the name of the boy Arun is borrowing his body from."

"Is that true?" he asked Arun. The Keyblade wielder was unable to lie, so he nodded. "What was he like?"

"I don't like him," Arun grumbled, resisting the urge to scratch his skin-to claw at his face. "Ven is a happy-go-lucky little idiot! He thinks helping people will make everything better. I hate him."

"What did he ever do to you?"

"Nothing."

"You hate someone because he did nothing to you," Caelum deadpanned. He rolled his eyes. "Like I'm going to believe that. Why do you really hate him?"

"I just do, okay? Quit asking me!" His mood plummeted. Stupid Ventus. He wasn't there, yet he was ruining his mood. Why couldn't he remain in the past?

"No, I'm curious why Ventus would earn your hatred. It had to be for a good reason. Do you hate him because you're using his body while your Nobody is running around? Or are you mad because he's a nicer person than you ever were?"

"Shut up!" Arun couldn't hold back his anger anymore. The combination of little sleep and Caelum's taunting made him snap. Before he realized it, he was out of his chair and on top of Caelum. He pinned the mage in his seat using his legs to straddle his weight. He placed his Keyblade against his throat. "You don't know anything! Don't talk like you know!"

"What are you do-Ack!" Caelum choked, gasping for breath. He tried pushing the sword away but found it too difficult. He gritted his teeth. "Thundaga!"

The static in the air was Arun's only warning. A split second was all he had to jump out of the seat and off Caelum. He came to a stop at the teleportation station.

Caelum coughed. He scrambled out of his chair. Blood red eyes burned at him. Max also stood and stared at the scene, startled.

"What's wrong with you? Why did you attack me?" Caelum demanded, harshly.

"Because you're butting into business you're not a part of! I'm sick of you trying to think you know everything and criticize me for not living up to your standards!" Arun growled. He got up. He was itching for a fight. What did it matter if he was fighting his friend for no reason? Besides, he had it coming.

Believing this was a good enough reason, he tackled Caelum to the ground and began to attack him.

Caelum faltered as he tumbled to the ground. He had a dazed look on his face as if he couldn't believe Arun was attacking him. But when Arun slugged him in the abdomen the pain bought him to his senses. Snarling, he pushed Arun off him and retaliated.

The two boys attacked one another with none of the finer techniques they learned over the past year and their journey. Instead, they fought like they would have if they were back on Meryton. Their weapons were forgotten in their high. They shoved, punched, and kicked with only their bare fists and feet.

Fighting in such a small space, the two hit many obstacles as they hit each other. They adorned more bruises than they cared for. Neither of them hit Max except for one time. Max had tried to get between them to stop them. All that did was earn him a kick to the leg and he learned his lesson to not interfere.

Being such a small size, Arun wasn't surprised Caelum managed to pick him up and punched him in the chest. The blow was enough to leave him not only breathless, but also sent him stumbling back against the teleportation stand where the remotes laid. The remotes were knocked off when he hit it. One of them ended up near him when he fell.

Breathing heavily, Arun put a hand down to give him support. However, he felt something jabbed underneath his palm.

The whole station lit up. Arun saw the surprise on Caelum's face before light blocked his vision. His body tingled as he was transported. Then, when the light dispersed, wind bit into his uncovered skin as his body went weightless. It took him a moment to realize what was happening.

Arun was freefalling.

He took in the bright blue sky and puffy clouds. For a brief moment he thought it was beautiful. But, then reality came back when his back crashed through what felt like glass. Passing through the glass, he saw a crystal-like ceiling and the most extravagant chandelier.

Arun landed on something hard flat on his back. Whatever he landed on was cold like ice. Through the pain stabbing at him everywhere, he saw nothing but white and light blue. He tried to move but everything just hurt. He vaguely heard heels on a floor and suddenly found himself staring up at a vision of a pale angel.

"What...? Where did you come from?" the angel asked.

Arun almost didn't hear her. He was too preoccupied with her eyes. They were a pale blue-like ice. Yet, behind the ice he clearly saw the pain and loneliness that radiated. Those eyes were the last thing he saw before his visions faded to black.

Arun woke up in a shivering mess. He opened his eyes to see if he left the window open again. When he saw nothing but an empty receiving hall that was freezing he remembered he wasn't in his room. He sat up only to flinch when his hand touched the slippery and smooth floor.

"Cold!" he cursed. He retracted his hand and stood up. His arms hugged himself to try and keep warm. It was so cold he saw his breath vaporize in the air. While his body trembled, he took in his surroundings. He appeared to be in a castle made of what appeared to be glass. But it was too cold to be glass and it looked a lot more like ice. "Where am I?"

The last thing Arun remembered was getting in a fight with Caelum over talking about his past. Ever since their trip through time and he realized why he had an affinity with the darkness, he was afraid to hurt his friends. He knew what darkness could do.

The darkness didn't frighten him and he would readily use it. However, the thought of using it in front of his friends scared him more than anything. He didn't want to go too far in using it.

Now that Arun remembered the fight he thought it was stupid. He felt better now that he got some rest and considered himself an idiot for picking a fight like that. Even more so for fighting in a small space around a teleportation machine. He remembered he landed and saw blue eyes full of loneliness. Eyes that looked a lot like his own.

No one's eyes should look like that, Arun thought. They were guarded to the world to avoid getting hurt, yet they were screaming for someone to save them from loneliness. They were something he could empathize with. No one else should have eyes like that. I wonder who those eyes belong to.

He didn't have to wait long for that answer.

The clear double doors of the throne room opened. Arun turned at the sound of clicking heels and gasped. The angel he saw before passing out entered the room. She appeared to be a few years older than him, walking into the room with the sway of her hips accented by her blue crystal-like dress and cape. His cheeks warmed when he saw her blond braided hair resting over a shoulder and her eyes that he was just thinking about. Those very eyes turned on him in suspicion and caution.

"Oh, you're awake," she said, her voice soft and regal. It wasn't exactly welcoming but intended to be kind. She gave him a small smile as if she was unsure how to act. "You gave me a scare when you fell through the ceiling like that."

"I fell through your ceiling?" Arun tilted his head to the high ceiling. Ignoring the crystal chandelier, he found the hole through the glass right above him. He laughed sheepishly. "Ah, sorry about that. I didn't mean to crash in here."

"It's fine. But, why did you fall out of the sky? Where did you come from?" she questioned.

"I fell from heaven," Arun automatically responded with a smile. He instantly switched to flirting when he saw her. For some odd reason whenever he was attracted to someone (which was very rare considering he wasn't attracted to anyone) he tended to flirt with them. Girls were normally attracted to him first, so there was never a need to flirt. But, honestly, this woman was too beautiful. He couldn't help but be attracted to her. "My name's Arun. Would you mind if I called you Angel?"

"No, you may not," she responded, frostily. For a woman that beautiful he expected such an answer. "I am Elsa, Queen of Arendelle . You may not call me anything other than my name."

"Queen?" Damn! She was royalty. That meant she was way out of his league. A princess was good and all, but a queen was far too regal for him. It made it that much harder to get with her. He deflated. "Ah, darn. No wonder you're beautiful. You're royalty! Just my luck, too."

That finally got a reaction from her. Elsa flushed a pretty red. She tilted her head away to hide it but was too late. He saw it.

"If you are well enough to attempt flirting with me, then I must ask you to leave," she ordered, stern. She stepped to the side to gesture at the open doorway. "The exit is this way. I'm sure you can find the way out for there."

"Ouch. That's cold." As he was one not to deny the request of a beautiful lady, he obeyed. He began to make his way over to the doorway. Passing by Elsa, he paused. "By the way, your Majesty, have you seen two guys around here? One has black hair and another has white."

"No, I haven't. Who are they?"

"They're..." He paused. After the fight he had with Caelum, he began to wonder. Could he really consider him a friend? And what about Max? He remembered some of the things he had done in his past and found that having friends was a weakness. They'd only get in his way. Even if they didn't, he questioned if their friendship was true. Caelum certainly treated it like it wasn't. "Just people I'm traveling with."

"Your friends?"

"... I don't know."

"How do you not know?"

Arun shrugged. "You ever get the feeling that being who you really are can make people hate you?"

This was meant to be rhetorical question. The queen didn't have to answer as it was question to himself. He was surprised crystal eyes lightened in empathy.

"And their rejection is what you fear the most?"

"Yeah! How'd you know that?" he asked.

Elsa clasped her hands together, head hung. While it gave her that look of elegance all nobility had, it made her much smaller and timid. Nothing like the strong woman she appeared to be. She seemed to be deep in thought about something. When she spoke it was in hesitation.

"I had a fight recently with my sister. It was over her engagement to a prince from another kingdom."

"You didn't approve?"

"Of course not! She just met him that same day!"

"What? Your sister got engaged to a guy she met that day?" He wanted to burst out laughing. That had to be the most ludicrous thing he's ever heard. Who did stuff like that?

"Yes, you can see why I had not approved. We had a fight as a result. We both showed our true feelings and here I am."

"And here you are," Arun agreed. That could have been the end to the story, but he felt that wasn't all. "I get the feeling it wasn't a fight that didn't drive you to this icy palace. What's the other reason?"

Her shoulders stiffened. The small expression she had for a little while was hidden once again by her walls.

"Nothing," she said, curtly. "If you have nothing else to ask, then please leave."

"Oh, come on! It couldn't have been so bad. What, was it a succession issue? A marriage contract you didn't want to go through? Secret, magical powers you didn't want to be revealed?"

He was kidding with that last one. A queen wouldn't hide her true powers unless as a secret weapon. Even then, those close to her would have known. His grin faded when she flinched at the last one.

"You've seriously got secret, magical powers you wanted to hide? You're joking," he said, shocked he got it right.

"Why would I joke about that? I didn't want Anna to know!" Elsa snapped. She shot him a menacing glare. "It wasn't my fault she decided to make a scene in front of all those people! If she hadn't grabbed my glove, I would have never shown I have ice powers at my own coronation party. It wasn't my fault I was born with these powers!"

"Your Majesty, calm down," Arun soothed. The room had gone subzero freezing in two seconds flat. Frost gathered around Elsa to inch towards him. That wasn't good. "Look, it's fine you can control and make ice. That's pretty amazing. Just stay calm."

She stopped, breathing heavily. Closing her eyes, she attempted to regulate it. The temperature soon returned to one he could handle.

"I'm sorry," she apologized, opening her eyes. "Please go. Before I lose control and hurt you."

Arun considered taking her up on that offer. In no way did he want to get involved in this mess. A queen driven from her kingdom because she had uncontrollable ice magic? No thanks! Let someone else handle it! But, that look...They were so guarded yet yearned for someone to understand her.

Someone like him.

Damn those big, blue eyes.

"As if you could hurt me," he dismissed. She looked back, questioning. "You think you've got powers that hurt? Try having powers over darkness. Then, tell me what damage you can do."

"Powers over-What do you mean?"

"Tell me, Elsa. Do you ever fear what lurks in the dark when there's no guiding light?" Arun casually walked over to the woman. His smile held no friendly warmth he showed before. "Did you ever believe in the monsters your parents assured you weren't under your bed? Have you ever wondered if they were right? Or if they were lying to you to protect you from the truth?"

"There are no such things as monsters," she replied, firm. Although, there was the tiny sliver of doubt in her voice that could potentially shatter her perception.

He raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? Then..."

Like a flash of lightning, Arun conjured a dark fireball. He hurled it at an unsuspecting pillar. The ice melted a good chunk of it as water ran down to cover the magnificent floor. It dampened the hem of Elsa's sheer blue cape before it froze, adding a more elegant design on the edges. Elsa flinched at the heat flash and away from Arun as he approached her.

"Do you think I'm a monster?" he asked, quietly. It was dead silent. He seemed to be yelling in the open space.

Elsa whirled around, thrusting her hand out. Ice magic shot toward him as sharp pillars erupted from the floor. It was laughably slow to someone like him. Arun jumped back and lunged at her, Keyblade appearing from thin air. She backed away and threw shards at him in a desperate attempt to keep distance. A simple fireball melted them away. Her eyes widened at his speed when he disappeared and reappeared behind her. His Keyblade pressed against her neck.

"You still think I'm not a threat, your Majesty?" Arun questioned. He smirked at her apparent fear.

She swallowed. The delicate body he held captive shivered. Obviously, it wasn't from the cold.

"No, I don't. I don't think you're a monster, either," said Elsa, stubbornly. "I think you're just a boy with powers he was born with and was isolated for it. Just like me."

"What makes you think I'm like you?"

"Your eyes..." She shifted her head and glanced over her shoulder. She stared straight at him as if she truly saw the boy he appeared to be, not the monster he truly was. "When I asked you about your friends you appeared lost and unsure. Now that you spoke of your powers over darkness I see now why. You think they see you as a monster because of your powers. Really, all I see is a boy afraid of his powers just as I am afraid of mine."

Arun's smile became warm again. That's what he wanted to hear.

"Good. Now I'm sure I'm staying," he decided, dismissing his Keyblade. Elsa blinked in surprise. "You're right, your Majesty. I'm afraid of my powers because I'm scared of what my friends will think. I wouldn't normally admit that, but you're the exception."

"Me? Why?"

"'Cause I think you're too cute for your own good?" He chuckled at the blue that rose on her cheeks. "That, and you remind me of me. So, I think we see how lonely we both are for our odd powers. That's why we're both reminded of each other."

A small part of Arun was satisfied to see her flushed at his small flirting. Being a royal, he expected her to be sheltered from boys. The fact the smallest compliment made her blush made him want to tease her more.

"I-I see." She cleared her throat. She brushed back a lock of her light blonde hair while avoiding eye contact. "But, that doesn't explain why you feel the need to stay here. Don't you have friends to find?"

"What, and leave a beautiful young lady like you all on your lonesome?" He began to chuckle but stopped at her pointed look. "All joking aside, I don't want to leave you here alone. Having powers like your's can be scary, but when you have to learn how to use them on your own...Well, it's not the safest thing ever."

"I can manage on my own."

"No, you can't. You admitted you had no control over your magic. You're worried about hurting someone. Let me be the one to each you."

"...What?" she uttered, shocked. "You want to teach me control? Why?"

"One, because I've got a pretty good grasp on my magic." Arun produced the Dark Firaga spell in both hands as he cupped them together. He focused on making them as large as possible to create a roaring flame, then compressed the magic to make the flames small enough to fit in his hand. He ended the spell just as quickly. Elsa watched him do all that, fascinated. "I can teach you how to use your magic. Second, if you try to learn on your own, you'll just hurt yourself. At best if I'm here, I can help lessen the damage."

Elsa had the potential to be a powerful sorceress. If she could control her powers and emotions, she could do that. All she needed was to learn control and she'd do some serious damage.

The queen hesitated, unsure of what to do. Arun allowed her to take her time. He knew what she'd decide to do.

"You promise you'll help me get this under control?" she asked. He nodded. She took a long, deep breath and sighed. "Alright. I would like it if you stayed and helped me to control my magic."

Arun smiled. He bowed at the waist as a gesture of friendship.

"I'd be more than happy to help you, Queen Elsa."

She offered him the same smile and curtsied.

"Thank you, Arun. Please call me Elsa."

This was the start of a beautiful but odd friendship.

Yes, I know, I know. I'm doing Frozen. At this point in time the film has been overhyped and talked about to the point everyone is sick about hearing about it. However, there's a reason I included it. You'll have to read to find out why. Anyway, Elsa happens to be one of my favorite characters and here's the reason why.

Disney Fun Facts

Queen Elsa of Arendelle (AKA The Snow Queen): The older sister of Anna and the current ruler of Arendelle. She was born with the powers over ice and snow that led her to her moniker, The Snow Queen. She is loosely based on the character in the Hans Christian Andersen, The Snow Queen. In the early drafts of the film Elsa was portrayed as a villain who was to be a cold-hearted ruler with control over an army of snowmen as henchmen. Instead of being afraid and insecure, she would have been bitter towards everyone and would be jealous of Anna for her role as princess (in this draft Elsa and Anna were not related at all). Elsa, or rather the whole story of the Snow Queen, was originally planned to be a movie by none other than Walt Disney himself. However, because it was difficult to work out the character since she was neutral in the original tale and and they couldn't make the whole story work. Ultimately, his plans for a film adaption of the tale was shelved until Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck came along and decided to make Elsa and Anna sisters, thus giving the two a connection that didn't exist in the fairy tale and gave the film a purpose.

So, yeah. There's a reason why Elsa is such a popular character. Given how Disney tried to adapt this film for decades, they had time to build on what Walt Disney himself tried to start. This character has too many dimensions to her and I'm okay with that!
