A/N: I am aware it's been over three years since I even touched this story. This used to be my life, and I used to get so excited to write this; Fanfiction has honestly been put on the back burner, and I feel I have lost my ability to capture readers as I have done before. I used to wake up every morning just to check the views on this story. To all my viewers and readers, I apologise. But I am here, I do not know how long for. Last time I updated I was starting my GCSEs I think? Well, now I am about to finish my A-Levels, that is a bloody long time away. No excuses! I miss writing, it had always been a passion and I wish for it to be again.
Please excuse any errors, and similar things because I am out of practise! Moreover, I haven't rewatched AoT in a while

51. Sport
Kagome sighed as she looked around the kitchen. She'd offered to prepare a dinner for the cadets, the Commander and the Captain, thinking after such a stressful day, it was the least she could do. The Captain had just lost his entire team.
Kagome had no idea how the Captain was coping however, she knew he was traumatised; he may have been an exceptional fighter, but he was only human. Levi knew that too well. As the black-haired woman picked up her knife, she aligned it with the carrot she had peeled and washed. Tonight, it would be pigeon stew. It wasn't the most appetising of meals, but Kagome tried to make it as adventurous as possible, given the circumstances. Almost as an afterthought, Kagome placed the knife on the table top and reached behind her to tie her thick, black mane in a low ponytail.
There was a low buzz around the castle they were in. Everyone had found a room to sleep in, and despite the last few hours, it was a peaceful buzz. A choked sob broke out of Kagome's throat and she quickly pulled her hand to her mouth as she cried. Eld, Oruo, Petra and Gunther were all gone. Levi was all on his own. And Eren felt responsible. There would be four empty chairs at their table tonight, possibly more, if Kagome's inkling was right. Levi would avoid them; he was their leader, and he had failed.
It wasn't that Kagome believed this because she didn't. Levi was a strong leader, but he cared. He would overthink; what could he have done differently? Hearing footsteps behind her, Kagome quickly wiper her eyes and proceeded to chop the carrots. The footsteps stopped, and the young woman held her breath. "Higurashi," the authoritative tone caught her by surprise; she wasn't expecting the Captain to be here, in the kitchen.
Twirling around, Kagome faced the Captain, but as she did, hey elbow knocked the hilt of the knife she was cutting with, and it clattered to the cobblestone next to her foot. Levi watched the knife. Kagome watched Levi. "They were good comrades," the intensity of Levi's stare surprised Kagome; 'how could someone look so intense but so dead inside?'
Crossing the musky-smelling room, Levi leaned down and picked up the knife Kagome had dropped; "I know they were." Slamming it onto the countertop, the 19-year-old jumped at the loud clang. "But death doesn't discriminate against good people and bad people. Those titans hunt for sport, and that is it." The older man took a step back as he soon realised how close he was standing to the little lady.
In a flash, reflexes Levi himself was impressed by, a porcelain hand gripped his wrist, preventing him from retreating further. "I know Levi, I know. Petra was my best friend. The idea that she died out there without me there to help is what is killing me inside. You're not alone, Levi. You don't have to face this on your own." The Captain then did the last thing she expected him to do; he laughed. He reached down and grabbed her hand, holding it for a second, staring at the appendage in his own.
"I don't know what to do, Kagome." The way the Captain spoke her first name sounded hoarse, unlike Levi and extremely vulnerable. Then he pulled her close. The taller figure wrapped his arms around her, and leant his face into her hair. "You've seen my team at its worst. And you've brought us back from that precipice time and time again yet the one time I wanted to keep you out of the kafuffle, it all goes so wrong." Kagome's eyes gradually widened as Levi's words came out, and she stared into his shoulder, feeling the unfamiliar warmth of his arms around her. "I want to protect you, and I wanted to succeed in my mission." The medic inhaled sharply as Levi pulled back, his hands slipping to her shoulders and holding her in place. "Petra had to save you last time we went out together, those titans had overcome us, and I didn't want us to lose you. You are too valuable."
A dry chuckle came out of Levi's mouth, and he stepped away. "Levi, don't go." The vulnerable blue eyes looked at her, and she couldn't help herself. She took his face in her hands and tiptoed, leaning in to gently kiss him on the lips. "I'm here for you. I'm here."
Well I did it! I have written something that is publishable... I really want to hear your thoughts on this. Should I continue these drabbles? I'm missing writing so much..
