Epilogue

"Dad, what are you doing? Dad, stop."

"No! I'm going to continue with this project until I am successful!"

"Dad, you're in your late sixties and you could blow yourself up. I would really prefer it if you didn't!"

"He will be fine."

I round on the smirking man beside my intent father and pin him with a glare. "This is all your fault! If he hurts himself I will never let you live it down!"

"You make it sound like I'm an invalid, River Dance," my dad grumbles from his work station. He has goggles over his eyes and thick gloves on his hands while he handles a volatile element of a name that I can't pronounce. He is trying to shape it into something like his arc reactor, only more contained and more powerful. The vibranium container he has already made is sitting next to him, ready for the element to be placed inside it. I still can't believe he is trying to make this stupid thing.

I'm standing far back from the both of them. Loki is hovering over his shoulder, watching his progress in mild anticipation. I sigh and roll my eyes, crossing my arms over my chest. I refuse to move closer though. I've been trying to get Dad to give up this idea for weeks, but do you think he listens to me? No. Ever since I made Loki watch those stupid movies with me…

Taught me not to show him Earth movies though. If he thinks this is a good idea, I'm afraid to show him something like "Hostel." Granted I hate those movies so I don't see that being an issue.

I take another step back when Dad starts to place the glowing element inside the container, twisting at random wires and knobs and whatnot. The two men fall silent and I continue to stare at the object in my father's hands warily. If this works, this is not going to end well. If it doesn't work, it will not end well. Once he's done with the tinkering, he stands up from the table and moves away, giving himself plenty of room to test the thing out. He stands with both legs out and braced, holding the cylindrical object in both of his hands. I hear him release a huff of breath before he presses a button. A tube of blue energy springs out of the container, stopping after a few feet. A buzz of energy is coming from the object and my dad swings it slowly around him, making sure the energy follows his movements and doesn't fly off in random directions.

"No freaking way," I mutter, watching in complete disbelief. Loki is smiling in genuine delight.

"Did you really doubt me, darling daughter of mine?" Dad asks, laughter covering his tone. He presses another button and the energy falls back into the container. He turns to face me, taking off the goggles in the process. He gives me his characteristic big smile and all I can do is shake my head before face-palming.

Great, my dad just created the first ever light saber. I don't see how this could ever go wrong.

He flips another switch on the handle before setting it back down on the work table. "I bet if I just played with different ions in the element or even combined it with a few other elements I could get the color to change." He trails off, mumbling to himself about science stuff while I shake my head.

"You must create one of these weapons for me," Loki says, picking up the light saber and getting a closer look at it.

"Absolutely!"

"Not!" I say, pointing my finger at the both of them. "If you know what's good for you, Dad, this will be the only one you make and you'll lock it away forever." I turn my gaze onto the still smirking trickster. "And I am not allowing you to have that thing around me and the kids and you know the twins are going to get their hands on it and lord knows what kind of trouble they would get into with that."

His smirk grows into a smile and he sets it back down before walking over to me. He places a hand on my swollen stomach before leaning down to give me a sweet kiss. "Worried, darling?"

"Always," I grumble up at him.

There's a small crash from behind him and I push him aside so I can look at my dad. He has a sheepish look on his lined face. Honestly, Dad is aging well and I don't know how. His brown hair is peppered with gray that just makes him look more handsome, never mind the lines around his eyes that become deeper whenever he smiles. And he refuses to retire anytime soon. He bends down to pick up the mess he created off the floor and Loki moves to go help him. These two have formed an odd friendship over the past decade. There's more sarcasm and snark than should ever be allowed within two people that usually comes to the fore whenever they are in the same room, but at the same time they feed each other ideas. Loki was the one who gave Dad the challenge that he wouldn't be able to create a light saber to which my Dad was offended and here we are. With some borrowed materials from Asgard, he was able to do it.

I really shouldn't be surprised.

I bend backwards trying to stretch out my back before finally looking at the clock. We really have to head back or else he's going to be late. "Dad, we have to get going," I call, watching as they both finish cleaning up—well, relatively speaking.

Dad walks over to me, stripping off his gloves. "Oh alright," he bemoans, rolling his eyes before giving me a hug. "Take care of yourself. And you better come visit after the little one is born."

"You may have to be the one to come visit me, you know," I tell him, raising an eyebrow at him. "And bring everyone else next time."

"But that's no fun."

I roll my eyes before grabbing Loki's hand and pushing him towards the elevator. I've already said good-bye to everyone else, so no need for any pit stops. "Goodbye, Dad."

"Goodbye, my darling daughter!"

I roll my eyes while Loki laughs. They both exchange quick farewells before the elevator door shuts. "I can't believe he actually did it," I comment, shaking my head.

"Your father is very smart," Loki responds, wrapping his arms around my middle, a hand straying to rub my belly. His head falls on top of mine. "It really should not be so surprising."

I hum, not convinced. Dad is a freaking genius… but he really does need to lock that thing away before he hurts himself. I'm sure I'll be hearing stories of his tests with the damn thing the next time he visits. "I'm hungry," I complain suddenly.

"You just ate."

I lift my head so I can glare up at him and he winces slightly. Yeah, you'd think he would have learned by now. Hell hath no fury like a hormonal pregnant woman.

The elevator comes to a stop and the doors open. We walk out to the center of the rooftop before the bifrost picks us up and deposits us on the floor of the observatory. I nod to Heimdall in greeting before moving off to the group gathered behind him. "Hey, Charlie!" Magni shouts, waving. "We came up with a name!"

Oh dear god. Both of them are standing there, Cheshire grins on their faces and I know I'm not going to like this one. Loki comes to a stop beside me, his arm wrapping around my shoulders. I lace our hands together and give the boys a "go ahead" look. Modi clears his throat. "Hel."

"I hate you both."

They erupt into laughter and I shake my head. Honestly. Aunt Jane is shaking her head too while Uncle Thor looks vaguely confused. Frigga is standing behind them all, smiling gently. "You know, you two used to be so cute," I say, watching as they attempt to keep themselves standing upright. "What the heck happened?"

It's true too. Somehow over the course of the past ten years, they lost their boyhood and they are well on their way of becoming men. Granted, they still have a lot of time before they get to that point, but they hit their teenage years in stride. They are an inch taller than I am now (which is so not okay) and they have definitely lost any remaining baby fat. They have both begun full training with fighting, learning the Asgardian arts of hand-to-hand combat and sword fighting. I was helping them learn knives before I got pregnant. Now I stay away from fights as much as possible. Loki has continued Modi's training with magic, even though Magni became disinterested about four years ago. The offer to learn is still there, but he seems much more inclined to learn about weapons than magic.

They don't respond, just keep laughing. I turn to Aunt Jane and the little girl in her arms who is watching her brothers with wide-eyes. She's only three, but she looks two. And she is the most adorable little girl in the world. Her blonde hair is as curly as mine (poor thing) and she has some of the biggest brown eyes I have ever seen. She looks just like Aunt Jane. She sees me looking at her and reaches out for me. I grin and take her from Aunt Jane, nestling her onto my hip. "Promise me you won't turn into your idiot older brothers and always remain adorable," I ask her. She just blinks her eyes at me before giggling. I grin in return. I'm taking that as her agreeing to that promise.

"It really wasn't that funny, boys," Aunt Jane says, still shaking her head at them both. They have tears running down their faces and I raise an eyebrow at both of them.

"You obviously didn't see her face, Mother," Magni says, wiping his face.

I roll my eyes. "When you two have serious suggestions, feel free to let me know. And no, I am not naming my baby girl Hel." I pause for a moment before pointing a finger at them both. "Or Hela, so don't even think it."

"I feel like I missed an important detail," Uncle Thor mumbles.

Aunt Jane shakes her head. "I'll explain it when you get back."

Uncle Thor walks over and picks Margaret up from my arms. They kind of move aside to exchange goodbyes while Frigga walks over to the both of us. "This should be a simple enough task for the both of you. Just get the treaty signed and return home safe, alright?" she asks Loki, her eyes stern. "And make sure your brother doesn't start any fights."

"And no fighting on my behalf either," I add. "I know there are still some people who still want the old order, but just let their threats go. They can't get to me anyway."

He smirks down at me. "As my ladies wish," he says, his eyes jumping up to look at his mother. She smiles before nodding and moving over to talk to Uncle Thor.

I turn around and wrap my arms around his neck. "I mean it, Loki. You come back in a heat-stricken mess and I will have to punish you."

"Mmm, sounds like fun," he mumbles before leaning down and giving me a lingering kiss. Honestly, my threats don't work on him anymore. Which is so sad. His hands move to run over my belly and he pulls away to look at it. Honestly, since I found out I was pregnant, he has become completely captivated with my body's change. Me, I would rather it didn't, but hey, as long as someone is getting enjoyment out of it. And he certainly does enjoy it.

When I'm not trying to bite his head off for one reason or another.

"Be safe while I'm gone," he mumbles, kissing my forehead. "And don't have the baby while I am away, either."

I groan. "Oh come on, Loki! You already know I'm completely worried over everything dealing with this pregnancy. Please don't add premature labor to the list."

He chuckles quietly. "You have another three months. You should be fine. Although, I would still prefer it if nothing were to happen to either of you."

"I'll be fine," I reassure him, grinning. "I have plenty of people watching my back. Not to mention Frigga hardly lets me out of her sight anymore." I pause for a second. "You better be home in a few days. Otherwise I'm coming down there myself to come get you." I point my finger at him. "And don't think this pregnant woman can't still kick some ass if I have to."

"Of that I am perfectly aware, darling," he laughs. He gives me another heated kiss before pulling away. I hear choking noises from behind me and I turn to give the twins a glare. They are so immature. Well, at least they still think kissing is gross so I don't have to worry about chasing girls away from their rooms in the near future.

I think.

Uncle Thor walks over and gives the top of my head a kiss before he and Loki move off to stand in front of the portal. We all wave them off as the bifrost pulls them through space to the waiting Goblin royalty. They are going to sign a peace treaty with that world, ensuring amicable relations in the future as well as starting trade between the two worlds. That reminds me, I still have some paperwork myself I have to get through for Earth's ambassador. I'll do that when I get back.

I give a goodbye to Heimdall before turning back around and following the royal family out onto the bridge. Sleipnir walks over to me and I take hold of his reins. I don't ride him in my condition (Loki's paranoia, not mine) but that doesn't mean I can't walk beside him. The rest of the family agreed to walk with me, which was so very kind of them. The twins are leading the group, bickering about something. Aunt Jane and Frigga are walking side-by-side in front of me, talking to little Maggie. She's still so young and cute.

Sleipnir snorts suddenly before walking in front me, effectively stopping my movement. I hear a loud splash sound and water splatters on his flank, some droplets falling on me from the impact. He snorts again before moving back, revealing a wide-eyed trickster. I glance off the side of the bridge to see the spout of water falling back into the ocean. I shake my head at him. "Really, Modi? That's the best you can do?" I smile wickedly, feeling my eyes shift to their red brilliance, before flicking my hand. A large blob of water crashes into him from the opposite side of the bridge, effectively soaking him through. Magni starts laughing and I make sure to send a ball of water at him too.

Sleipnir snorts again and I pat the side of his neck. "You also happened to irritate my horse, Modi."

"Oh please don't," he mutters, backing away from us all.

I give him a sad look. "Sorry, sweetie, but Sleipnir does what he wants." I look at my horse and smile. "Go get him, buddy."

Sleipnir nods and both boys run off down the bridge, trying to get away from the fastest horse in the realm. Sleipnir is good enough to give them a few minutes headstart before taking off after them at a light gallop. Those of us remaining laugh as we watch him chase them all the way back to the palace. Sleipnir never does anything to hurt them, but he does chase them and when he catches them, he makes sure to give them a light nip on the shoulder.

Frigga links her arm in mine and we make it back to the palace in silence. To say my life is now easy would be a lie. It's complicated and busy and down-right draining the majority of the time. I've got a job that requires me to be on two worlds and dealing with politics on both of those worlds, a husband who is downright sweet but also keeps me on my toes, a family I can't help but want to throttle who all demand my time, and a growing list of friends who keep me trained, even with the little one the way. No my life isn't easy one bit.

But it's the one I've got. And I love it.

A/N: Alright, guys, I'm done! lol It didn't take that long, all things considered... What, four months? This story is fifty chapters long and over 250K words long and I did it all in four months. I am taking a break! lol I do plan on going back through this and editing, rewriting some parts, but that won't happen for a long time, hopefully.

Before I finally bow out, I do want to send a HUGE and GINORMOUS hug and thank you to every single last one of you! If you favorited and followed, if you sent me a review, or even if you're a silent lurker, THANK YOU SO MUCH! You guys are the reason why I kept up with this story like I have and it wouldn't be here if it weren't for all of your encouragement. I hope you like the ending as much as I do and you enjoyed the ride. Even if it was completely emotional and wild and heart-ripping at times.

It's so weird that it's over. Lol *cracks sore fingers* Again, thank you all so much. I'll see you next time.

Lots of love,

Sailorpluto
