Truth Uncovered
This chapter has been prompted by a guest and their request was The Roscoe's find out about Robbie's part in the bullying. How will they react?
"Hey, I'm an invalid here Zig. Move you're bloody arse," Robbie grumbled as he sat down on the sofa with an inelegant flop, not caring that he almost hit his older brother in the face as he went.
"Should have known that you'd milk this to the end," Ziggy said in reply, though he did move over to give Robbie some extra space.
"This isn't a laughing matter," Sandy said sternly as she followed Jason into the living room, checking to make sure she had the painkillers that Robbie had been administered at the hospital. "He was attacked by John-Paul for Christs sake. Patrick better expect a call from me in the morning, so I can question his hiring skills."
"Mum don't, it's fine," Robbie said uncomfortably, as he was forced to remember just why he had been put in the hospital, and what had led to John-Paul's violent attack on him. He could still barely believe that Finn O'Connor, his mate, was a rapist, and had turned their usually confident English teacher into the broken man that he was now.
"It's not fine Robbie, you were attacked by someone who is supposed to look after you, and John-Paul deserves to pay for what he did. We're not going to talk about it anymore Robbie, you need to rest and this will only stress you more," Sandy said sharply, her tone bearing no room for argument. "I'm going to get dinner ready, come help me Ziggy?"
"Yes Ma'am," Ziggy said with mock obedience, knowing it was best to go with what Sandy told him to do, rather than trying to go against her in her current mood.
This only left Robbie and Jason in the living room, sat in an awkward silence as the previous day's events played back in their heads. "Look J-" But before Robbie could continue, the front door had swung open and Freddie had practically ran into the living room.
"I tried to find you at the hospital," he said simply, taking the seat that Ziggy had just vacated.
"Yeah, I got discharged about an hour ago," Robbie shrugged, feeling even more uncomfortable now he was in a room with two people who knew that John-Paul hadn't just attacked him for simple teasing.
"Lindsey told me and I came straight over. Look you need to tell the police about what Finn did, because if you don't, you'll be dragged down for saying what you did to John-Paul and it'll only make it worse."
Before he could continue, Freddie was interrupted, though surprisingly by Jason and not Robbie. "Just drop it Freds. Robbie doesn't have to say anything, because he wasn't doing anything. That's what the police have been told and it's what I'm going to continue to say as their witness."
Freddie looked like he wanted nothing more than to argue with Jason, but before he could open his mouth, Ziggy had called him into the kitchen, most likely to taste what ever abomination Sandy was cooking up.
It only took seconds after Freddie left for Jason to turn on Robbie, showing for the first time since John-Paul lashed out, just how angry he was with his twin. "I hope you're happy now. I've been lying through my teeth to make sure you don't get into any trouble Rob. I lied to the police for Christ's sake, told them you were just having a laugh when John-Paul snapped, when we both know that couldn't be further from the truth."
"Yeah I know all right Jase, just leave it yeah?" Robbie sighed, not eager to have another argument about what had just happened. His head was still pounding and all he wanted to do was sleep.
"No, I'm not going to just 'leave it'. What you did back there was disgusting. You locked John-Paul in a freaking cupboard and left him to think he was going to die and then, if that weren't enough, you were a homophobic ass to him later on too. I don't even know why I stuck up for you, but just be bloody grateful I did, otherwise you'd probably be in an accompanying cell to John-Paul right now."
"What the hell is going on?" Sandy asked from the kitchen doorway, a mix of shock and anger painted on her face, as Freddie and Ziggy stood just behind the blonde, with identical expressions. "Please tell me that what I've just heard you saying, is not something that has actually been happening."
"It's not like that mum," Robbie protested, a shot of worry hitting him almost instantly, as he realised just how much trouble he could potentially be in. He had been doing so much too try and convince people that he hadn't been doing or saying anything particularly bad to John-Paul for it all to be over now.
"Don't lie to me Robbie, I heard what Jason said, but I can't believe you've been bullying someone, a teacher no less, because of his sexuality."
"Look it were just a laugh originally, bit of banter, everyone does it,"
"You called him McQueer regularly" Jason snapped, unable to keep out of the argument now it had started. He had been doing everything he could to prevent Robbie from getting into trouble, but he'd finally had had enough and couldn't keep his mouth shut.
"You're making it seem like a hate crime or something! It weren't anything like that-"
"So that's why John Paul attacked you then?" Ziggy asked, looking absolutely furious with what he was learning about his younger brother. "And no wonder, you probably made him snap, saying what you did."
"I only said what I did because of what he did! When Finn was in that accident with the quad, McQueen didn't do anything. He would have walked away and left Finn to die if I hadn't been there. I was angry okay, I thought he'd left my best friend there to die."
"Stop with the lies!" Sandy cried. "I think we've all heard enough of them."
"It's true! I was angry and wasn't thinking, but if I knew what Finn had done then I wouldn't – I couldn't," Robbie said, quietening as he once again thought about the confrontation that had happened between him and the younger lad just a few hours ago. He could still hardly believe that Finn had... raped John-Paul, but the steely look in his former friend's eyes told him all he needed to know.
"So what did Finn do then to have given you such a sudden change of heart?" Sandy asked, looking even more disbelieving than she did moments ago. In her eyes, Finn was the perfect teenager, always polite and meek to her, Sandy probably wondered what the hell he was doing hanging out with Robbie, when he could do no wrong.
Robbie didn't answer his mum's question, he couldn't physically voice what Finn had done without feeling sick. And who was to say his family would even believe him? It sounded so out there and something that Robbie had concocted in his head to keep out of trouble. Yeah, no-one was going to believe him, not when they knew what he himself had done to John-Paul.
"Oh isn't that strange," Sandy snapped, running her hand through her hair as she was forced to voice the most difficult decision she ever had to. "Well if Finn's such a good friend, then you can go stay with him."
"Wait, what?" Robbie asked, his head snapping up so he could meet Sandy's eye, hoping, no praying that she wasn't meaning what he thought she was.
"You're not staying under my roof, not after this," Sandy told him, her voice hard as she continued to the shock of her other sons. "I'm sorry Robbie, but I can't even look at you now, not when I know what you did to that poor man."
"No mum, you can't do this. I'm your son, you can't just throw me out," Robbie babbled desperately, hoping that he'd be able to change Sandy's mind, but just one look at her told him that was never going to happen.
"I think you'll find I can and I am. I'm not putting up with that sort of behaviour here, so you can leave."
"Mum," Robbie said softly, unable to believe what he was hearing.
"Just go!" Sandy cried, her tone making Robbie take a cautionary step back. Looking to the others just broke his heart more, as Robbie realised none of them were going to stick up for him, all looking at him with the same disgusted looks, unable to believe just exactly what he had put John-Paul through over the last few months, all visibly angry about it.
Taking a deep breath, so he appeared calmer than he really was, Robbie turned to leave, grabbing a few things from his room before he walked out of the front door of the family home for the final time.
As the door slammed shut behind him, Sandy's frosty façade dropped, and tears began spilling as she knew that she had just lost another son, even if it was ultimately for the best. She loved Robbie, he was her child, of course she loved him for goodness sake, but he had simply pushed it too far this time.
She didn't know how to handle him anymore, had to tried to raise him as well as she could, but that had had little effect by the looks of it. Robbie was poison, ruining everything he came into contact with, and Sandy knew she had to cut all ties with her son if she wanted the rest of her family to flourish.
Knowing those facts, knowing that she had done it all for the right reasons, didn't ease up on the hole in Sandy's heart any less though.

Robbie knew he had done some bad shit in his life, knew he was lucky to have such a loving family, all willing to look past what he had done in his years, it really shouldn't have come as a surprise that they'd finally had enough with him.
If Sandy hadd had a harder heart, he would have been thrown out years ago, and Robbie knew he couldn't blame her for finally snapping. So it was with a heavy heart that the young Roscoe turned to walk away from his home, away from Hollyoaks Village to restart his life someplace else.
He didn't knew where he was going to go to, but there was no place for him in Hollyoaks anymore, he'd alienated too many people, ruined too many lives that there was no-where where he was welcome.
Robbie knew he had to leave the village if he wanted to properly live life, and hell, maybe he'd finally find something worth living for in another town or city, but that new life would have to wait, because Robbie had some important business to sort first.
And so as he stepped into the police station, determined to give Finn exactly what he deserved and John-Paul the peace of mind he so needed, Robbie could only hope that him doing the right thing was truly what was best. You could only dream right?

Anon – There are a lot of upcoming chapters with Robbie and Jason having a heart to heart, off the top of my head, the earliest one should be chapter 78, though there may be one before that! Also, for the one where Jason is self-harming, can I suggest my other fic Downwards Spiral? It fills your prompt and as it's a quite full on, mulit chaptered fic, I don't really feel willing to write indivdual oneshots about Jason with depression, as I feel I wouldn't put 100% into writing it and making it the best I could, as I've already done so much for that fic.
Alana – About your prompt where Jason falls into a depression, have you read my other story Downwards Spiral, a lot of your prompt asks are filled in there and it may be too your liking. As I've written that story, which is incredibly long, I don't really want to write anything else about Jason and depression, as it's widely covered there and I feel like I would not put 100% into writing this prompt as I have already written a full, multi chaptered story.
Sam – For your prompt about Jason suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, I have merged that with an existing prompt that will fit well with yours. The prompt should therefore be posted at chapter 79.
MyOwPerfectWorld – I'm going to place what you requested straight into the army chapter, as it'll work well and I'd rather write one long piece, than many short ones. It should be posted at chapter 79. I'm glad you're enjoying Downwards too!
CARMELnotmcqueen – Try my other fanfiction Downwards, it focuses exclusively on Jason with an eating disorder, hating his body and the like.
There are five days left to give me a prompt, so go on guys, you know you want to!
