Chapter 54

Destruction

As the days past the elves and men of the lake arrived. I couldn't see a way out of a fight this time. I sighed and walked back inside to find Thorin. As I walked away I hard the sounds of trumpets. I slowly turned and saw a group of men and elves approaching the wall. They were armed. I glared at the elves.

"Who dares come before the gates of my husband, Thorin Oakenshield King Under the Mountain?! And with weapons! State your business." I shouted.

"And who are you to speak for the dwarf who calls himself king?" asked one of the elves.

I was enraged.

"How dare you! Thorin is the rightful king! And if I as I have already told you, the king is my husband, what the hell do you think that makes me dumbass?!" I snarled.

"Sonya? What is going on?"

I turned and saw Thorin walking forward.

"Who comes before the Gates of Thorin armed as if in war?!" He called in a loud voice.

At his voice they all turned and left. Thorin put his hands on my arms and looked at me.

"Are you alright? You seem quite upset."

"They said, 'the dwarf who calls himself king.'" I answered.

He sighed and shook his head.

"Sonya you must not allow their words to bother you so."

"But they insulted you and….."

"Their words mean little to me my love. Do you think I am a king?"

I sighed and nodded.

"Yes."

"Then that should be all that matters. As long as you know it, nothing they say should matter."

I smiled a bit and he gave me a kiss. I smiled more and as he pulled away I pulled him back. He chuckled and gently pushed me back.

"We shall have more then enough time for this when this is over. I promise."

I nodded and he kissed me once more before walking towards the gate with Dwalin and Gloin. I made my way to the treasury where I found Bilbo. He had not heard me approach and I saw him holding something in his hands. It was the Arkenstone.

"You found it!" I said.

He jumped a little and I smiled.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. Thorin and I have been looking for that, so it can be destroyed." I said.

A smile came to his face. He handed me the jewel and I smiled, it was indeed beautiful…..but a beauty that corrupted the mind. Bilbo and I went back to Thorin. Someone had come to the gate.

"Hail Thorin! Why do you fence yourself in like a robber in his hold? For we are not yet foes, and we rejoice that you are alive beyond our hope. We came expecting to find none living here; yet now that we are met there is a matter for a parley and council."

I smiled when I recognized the voice of Bard.

"Bard!" I called.

"Sonya?!"

I rushed forward and looked for Gem.

"Where's Gem?"

"I told her to go to the Mountain and find you when Smaug came."

Before I could answer something knocked me down. It was Gem!

"Gem!"

She nuzzled me and purred and rubbed against me. I stood up and Thranduil came forward. I glared at him and Thorin pushed me behind him.

"I want nothing more then to help the people of Lake-Town…..but whilst the Elven host remains armed and so near. I have not forgotten what their king did to me and to my wife and the rest of my men. Dismiss the Elven host and I will help you in any way that I can." Thorin said.

Thranduil was glaring at Thorin.

"I deserve treasure! I saved you and your company from the spiders…"

"You most certainly did not you dumbass!" I shouted.

Everyone was now looking at me. I was shaking with rage.

"You didn't save us from spiders! You kidnapped my husband and Bilbo saved the others from the spiders! I hopped your magic gates and stormed into your palace to find Thorin! He told you why he was there in Mirkwood and you still called him a liar and threw him in prison! Then when I made a deal with you to fight your two best warriors and I did! I fought fairly and you completely disregarded the fact that Tauriel stabbed me and cheated! And even when my friends escaped I stayed because I'm a woman of my word and I hold my honor high! I stayed when I could have gone! You only let me go when my brothers came and Legolas opened the gate and let me go! You don't deserve jack-shit! I know you want! You want the bloody damn Arkenstone! And me getting upset is not good for the baby!"

"~You are a liar! I never saw Tauriel stab you and you have no proof!~"

"Yes she does!"

I watched Legolas come forward and I smiled at him.

"You held her there and I let her win the fight against me. And then when Elladan and Elrohir came you denied that she was even there! I let her go. And she is right….all you want is the Arkenstone."

I held out the jewel and Thranduil's eyes were thick with greed. I handed it to Thorin and he took a hammer.

"This jewel was the start of all this! Now I shall end it!"

He smashed the Arkenstone to pieces until it was no more then glittering dust. The shock on Thranduil's face made me laugh. I stood up and wrapped my arms around Thorin.

"Now leave Thranduil." He said.

It was Legolas who ordered the elven host away. In the distance I saw what I thought to be Dain's army.

"Thorin look!"

Legolas saw them and his face went pale.

"ORCS!"

My eyes went wide with fear.
