"See anything, Thrash?" Shadow asked from atop of a tree.

"No, but I smell something." Thrasher announced from a lower branch.

At that Shadow jumped down to the same branch Thrasher was on. After a few seconds of smelling he picked up the sent too. "Ooh, I know that smell." He announced.

"Really, what is it?" Thrasher asked.

"It smells like what the humans call: barbecue." Shadow briefly answered.

"What's barbecue? It smells weird… but kind of good." Thrasher further inquired and admitted.

"Barbecue is when humans take raw meat and cook it over an open fire and put stuff like sauces on it." Shadow explained. "Oh, and to answer your question: Yes it is quite good."

"Oh really?" Thrasher asked. "Well then, let's go have a look." He proclaimed.

"Thrash, I think it might be best if we leave the humans food alone." Shadow admitted.

"Who said I'm going to take any?" Thrasher asked with a slightly insulted tone. "I just want to have a look." He admitted.

"Trust me; you'll want more than a look." Shadow warned.

"Is it really that good?" Thrasher asked with more a lot excitement.

Shadow didn't answer. That only made Thrasher want to check it out for himself even more. "Ok, I'm going to have a look!" He announced as he started in the direction of the smell.

Shadow knew for a fact that Thrasher would give in to temptation, so he decided to just follow him and wait until he stopped.

Finally after nearly three miles of running and jumping thru tree tops Thrasher found the source of the smell. "Oh, there it is!" He announced in a very excited tone.

Shadow joined him to see an older looking human cooking on an old fashioned charcoal grill.

"What is that thing? I don't see any fire." Thrasher asked as he looked over at Shadow.

"I'm not sure what it is." Shadow admitted.

The two just watched as the man cooked and skillfully flipped hamburgers threw the air.

"Humans are strange aren't they?" Shadow asked.

Thrasher nodded. "Why is he tossing those things in the air?" he asked in bewilderment.

"Well, Frank told me you got to flip meat so it cooks right, but he didn't do it like that." Shadow explained as best as he could.

The man continued to cook a way, until suddenly someone interrupted him. "Honey!" An older woman called from the house.

"Yes?" The man answered as he flipped a burger only to realize it didn't come back down. It landed on the roof of his nearby garage. "Oops." He mumbled.

"How much longer?" The woman inquired.

"Uh, I just finished." He announced as he put the remaining patties on a plate.

"I accidently flipped on onto the roof." He confessed as he entered the front door.

The woman laughed as he shut the door.

Both Shadow and Thrasher looked at each other. "Looks like our lucky day!" Thrasher proclaimed.

"Indeed." Shadow agreed. "I'll get it." He volunteered.

Shadow gracefully and quietly leapt from the tree to the rooftop and was just about to grab the hamburger patty, but before he could grab it a seagull flew in and snatched it. With a vicious snarl Shadow lunged at the bird to stop it from leaving with the food, but the bird was too quick and got away.

"What was that?" the man asked from inside the nearby house.

Shadow heard him, and quickly jumped back into the nearby tree with his brother to get out of sight.

"Real smooth, Shadow" Thrasher telepathically mocked.

Shadow only glared at him.

"Be careful! That dangerous creature is out there somewhere." The older woman said as the man went over to the open window.

"I know." He proclaimed with worry in his voice, as he shut and locked the window.

"Let's go, Thrash." Shadow said as he jumped to another tree away from the house. Thrasher didn't say anything just quietly followed.

They both knew it would be a matter of time before they found something else.

The BLOCKADE.

"Well, that was fun." Teresa said nicely, as they both approached the BLOCKADE.

"Indeed. I wish you weren't leaving." Frank said sadly.

"Don't worry. We'll likely be in touch." Teresa said with optimism.

Frank just smiled and said. "I hope so. Goodbye for now, Teresa."

"Bye, Frank." She said as she climbed the onramp.

"Hey, Teresa, you're finally back!" Hard-case teased.

"Bite me, Hard-case." She retorted. "I saw your speech, Hicks." She said casually.

Hicks just sighed.

"Relax. I think you made a good call." She said honestly.

"Finally, somebody who supports my decision." Hicks said with a hint of relief.

"How soon before we can we leave?" Teresa asked.

"Not until Thrasher gets back." Hard-case answered.

With a nod Teresa said: "Well, I'm going to get out of these clothes and back into my fatigues."

"Want any help?" Hard-case smugly offered as Teresa went into the small bathroom.

"Fuck you!" She said with a laugh as she closed the door.

Hard-case just laughed.
