Chapter 53: Shock Arrest & Aredian's Investigation Deepens
Detained by the guards under Uther's orders, Merlin wasn't allowed back to his chambers to see the guards search his chambers from Aredian's accusations that Merlin was the sorcerer. He had been taken to a cell down in the dungeons whilst Anakin and Arthur led a small group of knights, although they could not believe Merlin, their friend was the sorcerer.
Gaius followed them, annoyed that this was being allowed. He couldn't have Uther know that Merlin indeed did have magic and created the horse in the smoke in the forest. He did not trust Aredian and believed he had another motive.
Gaius watched as the guards rummaged through his workbench, sleeping quarters and the smaller upstairs level of the chamber where he kept his books. Gaius was becoming annoyed that they were not being careful and considerate during the search.
Pots were smashed onto the floor as parchments spilled across the floor just as books went off the shelves "Careful, please!" Gaius calls out to them, frustration in his voice "That's my life's work!" he tells them. Aredian looks around as he then speaks up
"Cover every inch!" he orders them "The sorcerer is a master of concealment" he warns them. Gaius glares over at him as more paperwork went flying.
"There's nothing here, Aredian" Anakin tries to tell him as he and Arthur moved into the room looking around and finding nothing suspicious. Aredian shook his head
"I'll be the judge of that" he only tells him glaring over at Anakin and Arthur before he takes charge in this search
"Over there, behind this tapestry!" he calls out to one guard looking across to the other side of the room "And there!" sending man towards a corner going on "Up-end that stool" The guards continued to follow his orders "Be sure to check for hollow legs!" he calls out "In, there, within the powder jars!" he insists spotting a set of jars on a nearby jars
One of the knights moves over towards the shelf, knocking the jars onto the floor. Blue powders spilled onto the floor, along with a lone silver bracelet with orange gem as Gaius looks down at the mess and the bracelet. Confused as to why it is there, as the last time he saw a bracelet like that one was on Morgana's wrist.
One of the knights, Leon, who had knocked over the jars onto the floor, then notices a small silver bracelet amongst the powder. Gaius moves over looking down in confusion at the bracelet as Leon bends down to pick it up "Here!" he calls out hurrying back over towards Aredian
Aredian studies the bracelet curiously. It had a orange gem in the middle "An amulet of enchantment" he comments. He notices how shortly after he arrived, Lady Morgana had a similar bracelet on her wrist just as Anakin and Arthur both come over to look at the bracelet.
Aredian holds the bracelet out towards them as he looks back at Gaius "Well, our work is done" he informs them knowing that this bracelet was all the evidence he needed to confirm Merlin was the sorcerer, but not if Gaius had anything to say about it
"No" Gaius speaks up as Aredian only looks back at him
"I must inform the King" he only tells him as Gaius takes a deep breath. He couldn't see Merlin accused of being a sorcerer especially since he believed the bracelet had been planted there.
"Aredian!" he calls out to him going on "I know for certain that, that amulet does not belong to Merlin" he reveals. Anakin and Arthur curiously look over at him as Aredian is curious himself now
"Oh?" he asks eyebrow raised "Well, who does it belong to, then?" he asks him as Gaius takes another deep breath. He was glad that Obi Wan was not here for this.
"It belongs to me" he confesses. Aredian doesn't flinch but Anakin and Arthur couldn't believe it - they believed Merlin couldn't be a sorcerer but Gaius, the man who cared for them and was their father's dear friend, they had to arrest Gaius.
Unaware of what was happening, Merlin was then startled by the sound of keys jingling and the cell door opening revealing Anakin and Arthur. Arthur steps into the cell towards him
"You're free to go" he simply tells him. Confused, Merlin then slowly gets to his feet and follow his friend out of the cell. He didn't realise it but he was about to discover what lengths Gaius will go to protect him.
After leaving his cell, Anakin and Arthur had a guard escort Merlin out of the dungeons. The guard turned the corner right at the moment another guard was escorting Gaius towards the dungeons.
"Gaius!" Merlin cries out "What's going on?" he asks as the guard continues past him as Gaius only replies
"Say nothing Merlin" he only says in a deep tone as he passes him "Do nothing, promise me!" he calls back to him as the guard continues on down towards the dungeon leaving Merlin confused even more and he would not just do nothing.
A few minutes later, Merlin returned to his chambers alone, finding the chambers a mess with broken bottles, scattered parchments and over turned tables and benches. Merlin, unable to believe his eyes, slowly moves into the room.
He moves over towards the table where a small wooden rack with broken test tubes was knocked over. He picks it up so it's upright on the table. Tears formed in his eyes as he realises what must have happened here and it was his fault!
He then heard a voice enter the room "I never thought I would see Gaius's chamber such a mess" they admitted. Merlin, without turning around, recognised the voice as Obi Wan's. Merlin sniffs
"They were searching for signs of magic" he whispers as Obi Wan moves over towards the young man as he placed a hand on his shoulder, Merlin then broke down "I...I..." he stutters "I brought the witchfinder here" he admits falling to his knees
Obi Wan was quick to his side, an arm around him. Aredian was here, which meant it wasn't safe for any of them. The witchfinder meant business and wouldn't stop until someone was found guilty and dead.
That evening Aredian dined with Uther, Anakin and Arthur. Morgana wasn't joining them as Robb had asked if they could have a private dinner together and Ned and Jon had gone down to the tavern. Uther was now aware of what had happened in Gaius's chambers and still coming to terms with what had happened with his friend.
"Gaius has served me with unfailing dedication" he points out. This was true. He remembered back to when he first banned magic and he asked Obi Wan and Gaius to turn their backs on their friends and remain loyal to him. He went on "Without his knowledge, his wisdom, I would not be sitting here today" he insists
Aredian only nods "You have shown great faith in him, sire" he replies "Oh, great faith indeed" he mutters "Considering he was known to practice sorcery" he reminded him. This made Anakin and Arthur look up from their meals and over at Aredian
"Gaius?" Anakin asks as Aredian only nods
"Mmm" he only replies as Arthur shakes his head
"You're mistaken" he assures him as Uther then cut in
"No, Anakin, Arthur. He speaks the truth" he reveals. Anakin and Arthur are stunned - all these years, their father knew that Gaius practiced magic as Uther went on "I'm well aware of his past" he assures him "But I have every reason to believe he's turned his back on sorcery" he explains as Aredian then replies
"Until now" he mutters as Uther defends his friend once more
"We don't know that" he insists "And this amulet you found could be a stupid mistake" he adds as Aredian shrugs
"Or maybe he's fallen back into old habits" he warns him as Anakin, fearing for himself and Morgana as well, decides to stand with his father
"We must give him the benefit of the doubt, surely?" he asks him as Aredian only looks over at him
"Why?" he asks him glaring back at the young man as Aredian goes on "Anyway there's a sure way to establish his guilt" he promises them. It is then at that moment Uther decides to caution him
"I know your methods are effective, Aredian" he admits going on "But Gaius is an old man. He could not withstand such...treatment" he informs him as Aredian shrugs once more.
"It is the only way to rid your mind of doubt" he assures him going back to his meal leaving Uther silent and unsure about what was about to happen to his friend but Aredian would not be stopped.
The sun had not even rose the following morning when Aredian headed down to the dungeons with two guards. Gaius was asleep in his cell. Aredian didn't want to wait for him to wake up himself so he picked up the bucket of water he had brought with him and threw it down onto the poor man.
Shocked and wet, Gaius coughs trying to catch his breath "What time is it?" he asks him coughing once more as Aredian only looks down at him
"Time for you to confess" he simply replies before he turns back to the two guards, signalling for them to pick him up and bring him back to his guards for interrogation.
Once the guards had brought him to Aredian's chambers, Gaius sat in his chair as Aredian tinkered with one of his devices silently before Gaius spoke.
"The amulet was a relic from the past" he explains "A keepsake" he adds as Aredian slowly turns around towards him
"But such artefacts are banned on pain of death" he reminds him "Surely you must know that?" he tells him as Gaius lowers his head
"I was wrong to have kept it" he admits going on "I am grievously sorry for it" he insists as Aredian nods
"Well, that's a good start" he begins to reply adding "It's an excellent start" he laughs shaking his head "But it's not nearly enough, I'm afraid" he informs him as Gaius tries to cut back in
"Aredian!" he cries as Aredian only calls out
"Guards!" he exclaims saying nothing as the two guards come into the room grabbing Gaius by the arms and carrying him from the room throwing him back roughly into his cell slamming the door once more.
Aredian was losing his patience as Gaius was refusing to confess and remain strong to his methods and day by day, Aredian kept pushing Gaius with questions about his past
"Was your conscience clear when you practiced magic in the days of the great purge?" he asks him as Gaius only remains firm
"...Not used magic for many years" he insists as Aredian goes on
"Your assistant kept instruments of sorcery" he points out as Gaius keeps to his story
"It belonged to me" as Aredian went on
"So, if someone else practised magic..." he was cut off by Gaius
"No" he replies as Aredian only goes on
"If you're an enemy of this kingdom, you're an enemy of your king" he explains as Gaius cuts him off once more
"No!" he snaps going on "My conscience is clear" he informs him. There is silence for several minutes between them before Gaius then speaks once more "I'd like a drink of water, please?" he asks as Aredian simply replies
"And you shall have one" he promised him "When you've confessed" he reminds him however Gaius would refuse to give in.
"Then I shall die of thirst, Aredian" he only replies. Aredian shrugs before he signals the guards once more. Another day went by with Aredian attempted once more to "break" Gaius and Gaius was forcefully taken from his cell with Aredian following them back to his office, not aware that he was being watched by Merlin and Obi Wan.
A short time later back in their chambers, Merlin, still racked with guilt, breaks down once more.
"It was a stupid, stupid thing!" he snaps "And now Gaius is going to die for it" he cries fearing that Aredian would keep interrogating his friend till he cracked or died from thirst. Obi Wan shook his head
"It may have been stupid Merlin but Gaius won't die. We will find a way to clear his name. Aredian may be powerful but there is little evidence apart from a bracelet" he reminds him. He ponders a thought "And Gaius has been my friend for years. I've never seen him use that bracelet, it doesn't make sense" he admits
Merlin then knew what he needed to do "I should confess!" he exclaims "To save Gaius" he insists as Obi Wan shakes his head placing both hands on his shoulders
"Merlin, Gaius did this to save you, to protect you" he reminds him "He would think you stupid if you did that" as Merlin pushes back from him
"I won't sacrifice a friend to save myself!" he exclaims "I put my life on the line for Anakin and Arthur, why is Gaius any different?" he asks him as Obi Wan sighs
"Gaius knows your secret and knows how important you are to protecting Anakin and Arthur and besides if you did confess, Aredian would just burn you both" he explains. Obi Wan knew of the reputation Aredian made and it did not bode well for anyone however Merlin wouldn't listen
"But it's my fault!" he insists "Don't you understand?" he asks him "He's your friend too" he reminds him as Obi Wan lowers his head
"I want to help my friend too but Merlin, if you die, you're endangering the lives of all those that rely on you" he insists. Merlin sighs. He had a point and then who would protect Anakin and Arthur.
"There must be something we can do" he tells him "There must be, please!" he insists. Obi Wan then nods
"I will help you find a way" he assures him. Merlin gives him a small smile. He was relieved to have Obi Wan on his side but they had no idea just how far Aredian would push Gaius and what he would reveal.
Once more, Gaius found himself sitting in Aredian's chambers with Aredian pressing him once more with accusations. He moves around him moving towards his table. "You're a traitor!" he cries "You're an imposter!" he insists "Sorcery is your only master" he points out as Gaius remains unfazed
"I serve only my King" he replies as Aredian scoffs
"Huh!" he replies "In what way have you served him?" he asks going on "You've lied to him" he points out "You've broken his laws, you've betrayed his trust" he continues as Gaius then answers him
"I've saved his life, protected his sons and treated his ward and eldest son" he explains. Aredian then looks over at him, an eyebrow raised as one thing peeked his interest
"You've treated his ward and eldest son?" he asks curiously as Gaius froze. What could he say now that would keep them out of suspicion. Gaius looks back at him
"I have striven to help all those in need. It is a physician's duty to do so" he only replies as Aredian asks once more
"The Lady Morgana and Prince Anakin?" still pressing on his last question as Gaius keeps his answer simple
"Among others" he replies as Aredian goes on
"For what malady do they both receive this treatment?" he asks as Gaius fumbles for an answer
"They..." he stutters "They suffer from nightmares" he reveals as Aredian only nods
"I see" he only says as Gaius goes on once more
"But as I said, I feel it is my duty to attend to the needs of..." he was cut off by Aredian
"Yes, yes" he quickly says going back to the subject at hand "You seem very keen to change the subject, Gaius" he says. Gaius only lowers his head just as Aredian adds "Perhaps I should question them myself" he suggests. There was silence in the room before Aredian gave him a small smile and moves away leaving Gaius sitting there, wondering what would happen now.
Alone in his cell, Gaius was alerted to the sound of footsteps outside his cell. He slowly pulls himself up to see two guards leading Morgana and Anakin. Morgana was gripping Anakin's hand and as she looked towards him, she appeared worried and frightened relying on Anakin for support.
Gaius lowers his head feeling like he caused the fear Morgana had on her face and he hoped Aredian would go easy on them, after all, she was the King's ward.
Anakin sat beside Morgana, who hadn't let go of his hand as Aredian moved towards him, carrying one of his unique devices. He hangs the chain a few meters behind them before he spoke "There's no need to be concerned, I won't detain you long" he promises securing the device in place. Anakin notices how Morgana's eyes widen as she looked at the device before he goes on "There's just a small detail I wish to clarify" he assures them before he takes his seat at his desk.
He picks up the quill, before he clears his throat "Now, it's true is it not, that you have received treatment for nightmares?" he asks.
Morgana quietly nods as he continues "And it was Gaius, the court physician who administered these treatments, these potions?" Morgana looks to Anakin who squeezes her hand, nodding as she looks back at Aredian
"Yes" she whispers as Aredian looks up at her
"I'm sorry, could you speak up?" he asks pointing to his left ear indicating he was hard of hearing. Morgana nods once more
"Yes" she replies, her voice a little higher just as Aredian then went on
"And you, Prince Anakin, Gaius administrated these potions to you as well?" he asks as Anakin's eyes widen surprised. He was silent causing Aredian to look back at him waiting for a response.
"Uh...yes" he replies. Aredian nods making notes on the parchment before him.
"Thank you, now you may go" he tells them. Anakin, holding her hand still gets up to leave follow by Morgana. They were almost near the door when Aredian spoke up once more "You both don't happen to know what was in these potions, I suppose?" he asks them as Anakin shakes his head
"Oh no" he answers him as Aredian gives a small smile
"No, of course not" he agrees "You're not physicians after all" he chuckles however Anakin and Morgana dare not chuckle back as he goes on "So, for all you both know, these potions could have been magical, your dreams the product of an enchanted elixir?" he asks. Morgana glances up at Anakin, knowing that wasn't the case and so Morgana shakes her head
"Oh, we had these dreams before Gaius started treating us" she replies speaking for both of them as Aredian looks over at the prince
"Is this true?" he asks him seeing him slowly nod before he then asks
"But these dreams, have they gotten better or worse since Gaius began treating you both?" he asks. Morgana was silent, glancing down at her bracelet. She wanted to say no but there was the dream she had in Winterfell and Anakin was having some restless nights still. Aredian waits for a response before Anakin speaks up
"Worse" he replies. Aredian mumbles as he makes another note
"As I thought" he mutters continuing to write. "Thank you, you've both been most helpful" he assures them before Anakin leads her from the room, neither of them saw Aredian smirk to himself. He now knew how he would have Gaius confess.
However, one person who wasn't happy that his fiancé had been questioned was Robb especially after he promised her she would be safe and had nothing to worry about from Aredian. He left the training ground quickly after finding out from Arthur why Anakin wasn't joining them.
Flashback
Robb dodges another parry from his brother who then stumbled and face planted onto the grass causing Robb to start laughing "I think you need to work on your footwork there" he smirks as Jon rolls his eyes looking up at his brother
"Lucky strike" he mutters as Robb shook his head
"You need to be careful because a fall like that could get you a sword through your back" he warns him just as Jon attempts to deliver a sneak attack to his brother only to have Robb block his blow
"Nice try brother" he smirks just as he spotted Arthur moving over towards them. Robb was confused. He thought Anakin would be also joining them. He helps Jon to his feet as Arthur reached them
"I thought Anakin was joining us. Two against one, hardly a fair fight" Robb points out as Arthur shrugs and smirks
"I could take you both even without Anakin" he assures them before he went on "Anakin will be a little late. He's with Morgana at the moment" he explains. He saw Robb look a little worried
"Is everything alright?" he asks as Arthur shrugs
"I don't know. We were on our way to the training grounds when Gwen came to us and saying that Aredian wanted to speak with her and she wanted Anakin there for support" he reveals. Robb's eyes widen
"What!?" he exclaims "Why would Aredian want to speak with Morgana?" he asks and without another word, angrily storms off towards the castle leaving Arthur and Jon standing there. Arthur glad he did not mention how Morgana had suffered from nightmares.
End of flashback
Robb continued through the castle making his way towards her chambers. He turned the corner nearly bumping straight into them.
"Robb!" Anakin exclaims surprised to see him, still holding Morgana's hand. Morgana was quiet and didn't respond but seemed to be in thought as Robb then wrapped his arms around her.
"Morgana, I'm so sorry about what happened. I promised you that you would have no reason to fear Aredian and I failed" he confesses holding her close as he looks down at her, his hands on her arms "Why didn't you want me with you?" he asks. Morgana keeps silent, glancing back at Anakin. She wasn't ready to tell him about her nightmares yet, so she gives him a small smile
"You were already down at the training grounds with Jon and I knew Anakin and Arthur were still getting ready and sometimes Arthur can more teasing so I knew Anakin would help ease my nerves" she explains. It wasn't a completely lie but still truth. Robb, an arm around Morgana looks over at Anakin
"Thank you Anakin for being there for her" he tells him "What did Aredian have to ask?" he asks curiously as Anakin looks to Morgana. He couldn't say they were both then questioned but had to say something
"He just wanted to ask about Gaius, how much she could remember and she just mentioned how he's always been there since she was a little girl looking after her, insisting he's shown no signs of magic when treating her" he replies "He shouldn't bother Morgana anymore" he assures him. "I'll see you down in the training grounds Robb" he adds squeezing Morgana's hand once more then moving off leaving the two of them alone.
Morgana looks up seeing Robb's face, still looking upset. She places a hand on his face "Anakin's right Robb. Aredian has no more questions for him and I know you'll still be there for me" she insists as Robb smiles
"Always my love" he promises seeing her grin
"Now, come on, let's go see how you and Jon can handle yourselves against my brothers" she teases meaning Anakin and Arthur as he laughs leading her down the hallway
"I think you will be in for quite the surprise" he assures her making her laugh knowing Anakin and Arthur didn't take losing well.
However, neither, Robb, Morgana or Anakin knew what Aredian had been planning and he had found a way to break Gaius. He entered the cell to find the old man asleep and wasn't waking up and rather than throw more water on him. Aredian crouched down in front of him.
"Gaius?" he speaks tapping his cheek seeing him stir "Are you prepared to confess?" he asks him once more as Gaius remained stubborn
"I'd rather die first" he only replies as Aredian was prepared for this response
"Good" he smirks "And die you shall" he assures him going on "But, not alone I'm pleased to say" he informs him "You shall have company" he stuns him as Gaius looks up at him confused
"What?" he asks confused as Aredian answers him explaining himself
"Merlin, Lady Morgana and Prince Anakin are to join you in the flames" he insists. Gaius's eyes widen
"No!" he gasps "This is a trick" he argues as Aredian shakes his head
"Uh, uh, you've corrupted them, Gaius" he explains "And they must answer to their King and not even your friend Obi Wan will be able to stop me" he tells him pausing before he went on "Unless..." he begins to say as Gaius looks at him confused once more
"Unless what?" he asks as Aredian only tilts his head and Gaius had no idea just what he was about to do to save his friends.
One hour later, Aredian had the guards bring Gaius to the council chamber before Uther, Anakin, Arthur and Morgana. Ned, Robb and Jon stood to the side, with Robb close to Morgana. Gwen and Merlin stood towards the back with Obi Wan with members of the council scattered around the chamber.
Gaius looked weary and nearly broken, what Aredian had been putting him through must have been torture. Pushing him onto the ground, Aredian shouted down at him "Confess!" he shouts "Confess!" he repeats as Gaius looks behind him over at Obi Wan and Merlin. Merlin looks nervous as Gwen nervously bit her top lip.
"Uh..." Gaius stutters before he stuns everyone "I am a sorcerer, sire!" he confesses "I am responsible for conjuring the smoke" he goes on "I am guilty of practising magic in Camelot!" he announces as Anakin and Arthur exchanged concerned glances. They knew Gaius for years and he was always there to help them as they heard Gaius go on "The goblin, the faces in the well...I am the sorcerer who conjured the toad from his mouth!" he exclaims
Uther is quick on his feet as Obi Wan watches his friend. He had known all along Gaius practised magic, but surely after asking them to turn against their own kind, Gaius would have down all this, nothing made sense right now.
Uther then spoke "You've betrayed me, Gaius" he tells him as Ned tilts his head. He couldn't understand his friend, after this witchfinder accused Merlin, Uther was unsure and now he was quick to believe his own physician was confessing the truth. "You betrayed your friends" Uther stammers unable to believe he was hearing these words "But above all, you've betrayed yourself" he tells him. He knew what he must do with a confession like this "By the laws of Camelot, I must sentence you..." he stutters "...to death!" he exclaims.
There was a collective gasp around the chamber as Merlin and Obi Wan look at each other, Anakin and Arthur were shocked, Morgana couldn't look towards them as Robb was by her side as Aredian encircles Gaius
"The sorcerer will be purged of his magic by means of fire!" he declares "He shall be burned at the stake tomorrow at dawn!" he shouts as Gaius looks to his friend in front of him for help but found none as Aredian continues "Bear witness and heed this lesson!" he warns them as two guards step forward to take hold of Gaius's arms and drag his weary body from the chamber. That was when Merlin had, had enough and rushes out towards Aredian
"You're a liar!" he screams as Anakin and Arthur quick on their feet hurry towards their friend. Arthur grabs one of Merlin's arms and Anakin takes hold of his other arm attempting to Merlin as he moved closer towards Aredian
"Guards!" he calls out as Merlin stares straight back at him
"You're a liar!" he snaps. Anakin and Arthur drag Merlin towards the exit as two guards step forward. Anakin stops them
"We'll deal with this" he assures them dragging Merlin out of the chamber completely. He was still his friend and friends help each other out.
Robb saw that Morgana was shocked and upset by the news and escorted her from the chamber, his arms wrapped around her. They took a seat on a small bench just adjacent of the castle's courtyard.
Morgana sighs "I can't believe it" she whispers "Gaius has looked after me since I've been a little girl. My mother and father trusted him. I don't believe him to be the sorcerer" she says as he pulls her close
"I'm sorry for what has happened and something doesn't seem right. First your friend Merlin then Gaius takes the blame, what if there is someone else out there?" he asks as Morgana looks over at him
"You don't believe it's Gaius?" she asks as Robb gives her a small smile
"I haven't known him for long but to me, he appears a kind old man and if you don't think he's the sorcerer, I will listen to you and perhaps my father will talk sense into Uther" he suggests "Before dawn" he mutters as Morgana felt the sadness once more, throwing her arms around Robb, sobbing into his chest.
Meanwhile, Ned followed his friend back to his quarters knowing he needed to talk to him about what happened back in the chamber, he couldn't understand how easily he believed the witchfinder when his sons and Morgana looked so shocked.
Uther said nothing as he enters his chambers as Ned followed, closing the door behind him. "That was quite a confrontation back there" he speaks up as Uther says nothing. Ned moves into the room "You seemed very quick to believe Gaius was the sorcerer your old friend when you were unsure it was the young servant to your sons" he points out
Uther kept silent, looking towards the window. He was listening to his friend and he was right. Ned went on. "Uther, you need to reconsider what happened down in the throne room" he tells him "What if Aredian has broken your friend and he was forced to confess. There may be a sorcerer out there laughing at you and you're putting the lives of our children in danger" he warns him
Uther didn't want to think of his sons or Morgana in danger and he had known Gaius for years. He asked him to turn against his friends and yet hearing his confession down in the chamber made him act for the good of his family, but Ned's words were in his head
"I don't know what to think. I don't know if this is Gaius really talking or Aredian's broken him" he admits. "I know of Gaius's past but I have trusted him over the years. I don't know what to do" he admits
Ned moves over towards his friend "You don't have much time left. Aredian's taken over and going to execute your friend at dawn. You need to do something before then, delay the execution if you have doubts" he insists
Uther looks over at his friend, his face was serious and concerned and yet for one of the few times in his life, Uther was at a loss at what to do and if he didn't ask fast, he was going to lose a friend.
