Christi's view
"Hey, Leah! The point is to not fall of the motorcycle!" I shouted while trying to suppress my laughter.
Melissa, Elijah, and I laughed our butts off as Leah came back completely covered in mud.
"There wasn't supposed to be mud!" she cried out.
I had dared her to go full speed through the bare strip of land we owned. And now, I was very amused with the sight before me.
"You didn't know it rained last night?" Melissa grinned with a tint of evil.
Three weeks ago, Leah joined our little whatever you want to call it. Group. Pack. Coven. I don't really know. Somehow Melissa and she came up with the idea Melissa was the "alpha of all females". Whatever.
But when Leah shifted, it was only Melissa's voice in her head. Maybe she is an alpha. Whatever happened, there is a girl pack and a boy pack now.
We haven't heard of the 'boy pack'. Yet. I have a feeling we aren't done with them even though we left. It's just in my gut. Although Melissa and Leah don't seem to think that. They are sure they will be left alone.
But if I am correct, Embry will never stop trying to get his imprint and Sam won't stop trying to kill me. While the girl wolves and my mate enjoy their time here in the woods, I have been keeping my shield up. Ready to keep any of Sam's pack away from us. Ready to fight and protect my family.
I've had more than enough time to go over this. It's stayed in my head, though. Telling Elijah was impossible without Leah or Melissa over hearing. And if Leah or Melissa knew what was on my mind, then I had a feeling they wouldn't take it well.
Leah marched up to us, trying to wipe off the mud. "I'm taking a shower!" she snarled.
"Wait, Leah. Let me try something."
I focus just on the mud. Nothing else. Not Leah. Just the mud.
My shield springs forward directly to Leah. All the mud is thrown off of her and land a few feet away.
"Yes!" I scream. It worked! I did it!
Leah examined herself. "Thanks, Christi. It felt weird, but thanks."
"Wish that worked when she tested it on me," Elijah muttered.
I wrapped my arms around him and beamed up to him. "Sorry."
"Just because you two are in love, doesn't mean you have to torture us with your affection." Leah rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, Leah!" I spat back. My head turned to Elijah and I kissed him right in front of those wolves. His lips were perfect against mine.
"Alright! Enough of that!" Melissa groaned.
I slapped her with my shield. "Respect your elders."
"Are you kidding me!" they both shout at the same time.
"Okay, Leah. I am twenty two and Elijah is over two centuries old. We are your elders. And Melissa. I am two months older than you."
Melissa rolled her eyes. Leah scoffed.
"You know you guys could pass for sisters if you wanted to," I comment.
"Random." Leah coughed.
I smiled gently. "Wow you just figured that out?"
Elijah and I laughed.
In the far distance, a sound of something running gradually met my ears. Elijah heard it too. It wasn't human or animal.
It was a vampire. We didn't need to freak out. It might just be a nomad. Just a simple nomad.
"I hear a vampire coming our way." my head turns to make eye contact with Melissa.
They stiffen. "We need to shift." Melissa stands up and motions Leah to follow.
Elijah and I stood toward the newcomer, bracing for the worst. If this vampire attacked, we'd be able to demolish him or her. Unless they had a gift. I just hoped I could keep whoever it was away from us.
Another set of running feet came. Two joined it. It made me freeze.
The wolves were here.
Cliffy! whose the vampire? which wolves came? how will this all end?
I am so sorry it's short. it's too short. :( but it leads to an awesome chapter! I promise! the next chapter will be action filled and dramatic! oops! I can't give to much away! :)
