Terry Terry
Chapter 55
"For Esther"
Six hundred years ago, everything was written by hand and manuscripts were precious. Johannes Gutenberg changed all that with his creation and was named the most influential person of the las millennium, for the principal reason that without his creation, most people wouldn't have reached the celebrity and the notoriety they received. He was considered at the precursor of the age of the industrial information which followed the person who was principally responsible for the transfer of knowledge, so the potential power, from there less rich of masses… Which makes that without him, news wouldn't travel so fast and wouldn't spread like wildfire.
The headline news were talking about Princess Candice, who became an actress, who left the reception to go look for her lover Dr. Terrence Andrew at St. Joan's hospital of Chicago.
"It seems that the young doctor has been her lover for years, even when she was still married to Prince Andrea… It's even because of him if they have divorced… Terrence Andrew was a young intern when the "Chicago's hero" story broke, Esther Baker was then two years old and he had taken care of her and they had become very close. Princess Candice came to see her mother and her sister and that's how she met the young doctor… But she was with her husband during that visit, that didn't stop her from succumbing to temptation…"
Another paper had dug up more dirt…
"It seems that Princess Candice so brilliant on stage, was living a double life while married to the prince… When she was in school, she was dating a young boy named Terrence Andrew, son of billionaire, Whilemina Andrew… They got back together when they saw each other again back in Chicago after the "Chicago's hero" story, which eventually caused the end of her marriage to the prince. She didn't run to her lover right away, she's more subtle than that, she took her time and she patiently waited to get to Chicago with her theatrical troupe. After the play, there was a reception… and from there, she ran to the hospital to see him, where he had to go after the play for an emergency. The princess had sent him an invitation and pass to come and see her… She came back with her lover and they went directly to her suite, without passing by the reception… Dr. Andrew didn't leave the hotel, he spent the night there…"
oOoOoOoOoOo
Terry opened his eyes and he smelled the perfume of Candy's hair, which reminded him of Scotland, during those wonderful summer vacations, where he had discovered love, when he thought he couldn't have those kinds of feelings again he had them stronger than ever. He was her prince, she was his princess. He smelled her hair and he kissed her head.
- Sapphire eyes?
- Yes, my princess?
- Are you ok?
- I'm fine…
- You're in pain right?
- Those couches are very comfortable… but like a bed…
- You've waited for me Terry… I didn't want to ruin all those years of chastity…
She stood up and she stretched herself. She still had her evening gown on. She went to her room to take it off and to shower. Terry went in another room to do the same thing. He called room service and got the boutique and he ordered some clothes which he paid with his credit card. He showered and when he got out, he found the clothes on the bed. He got dressed and got out of the room.
- Terrryyy!Said Esther running to him, you're still here!
- Yes, my pretty one, said Terry taking her in his arms and kissing her on the cheeks, where is your mommy Candy?
- She's getting ready, she always takes hours…
- Is breakfast ready? Asked terry, let's go eat.
They went to sit at the table to eat. Candy got out of the room, very beautiful in her designer dress.
- Good morning everybody.
Esther got off her chair to run into her arms.
- Good morning mummy Candy! She said kissing her
- Good morning my darling, said Candy smiling
They walked together to the dining room. And she started eating, Terry was looking at her.
- You don't run to get the paper? He asked.
- I'd rather eat first, in case there's something that's going to cut my appetite…, said Candy putting food on her plate to eat.
- Good idea, said Terry smiling
Esther looked at the scene, she was smiling. She was happy! To have her mummy Candy and Terry at the table, it was wonderful, it was like she had a mummy and a daddy like all the little friends, like a normal family! She's hoping it will last… But there was knocks on the door and everybody was startled.
- Who could that be? Asked Candy
The nanny went to open the door and Marlowe almost jostled her, when he got in the room, followed by the manager of the troupe.
- What a touching scene! Said Marlowe ironically.
- Well hello to you to, Marlowe, Mr. Hathaway, said Candy
- Hello Princess, said Mr. Hathaway, sorry to bother you so early in the morning…
- You haven't read the paper Candy? Asked Marlowe
- Terry, you know Marlowe, this is Robert Hathaway, the manager of the troupe
- Mr. Hathaway, said Terry ignoring Marlowe on purpose
- Read the paper Candy!
- I don't like reading the paper while I'm eating
- You don't do two things at once, said Esther
- You're right my dear…, said Candy smiling
- Candy, you have to read the paper, insisted Marlowe
- What's going on? Did we get a bad critic on the play yesterday? Asked Candy
- No, said Mr. Hathaway, the critics were great on the play, as usual
- But not about you, said Marlowe
- About me? Said Candy, what about me? What did they say?
- Look…, said Marlowe
The nanny brought the paper to Candy. She opened her eyes wide when she read the title:
"THE PRINCESS WAS CHEATING ON THE PRINCE WITH A YOUNG AND HANDSOME DOCTOR"
- Oh my God! Said Candy outraged, but that's horrible!
- What is it? Asked Terry
She gave him the paper and he was speechless…
- Who told them something like that? Said Terry
- What is it? Asked Esther
Candy looked at the nanny.
- Come on Esther, said the nanny, let's go see the hotel daycare centre.
- Terry, you're going to be here when I come back?
- I don't think so, pretty one, said Terry
She went and gave him a big hug and a big kiss.
- I'm going to see you later?
- All right, said Terry.
She went to kiss her mummy Candy.
- See you later, mummy Candy
- See you later my dolly, said Candy kissing her back
The nanny left the suite after arranging the little one. Candy waited until the door was closed to talk. She couldn't talk in front of Esther to hear the gossip.
- Candy, you have to do something, said Marlowe
- Like what? Asked Candy, tell them it's not true?
- Is the young doctor your lover? Asked Hathaway
- I don't think that's any of your business, said Candy
- Princess, your image and your reputation affects the theatre
- My Princess title adjusted your theatre! Said Candy
- But what you do, also affects the theatre… unfaithful to your husband the prince…
- That's nonsense! Said Candy, I wasn't unfaithful to my husband!
- All right, said Hathaway, but you have to avoid giving them materiel
- Listen Mr. Hathaway, I haven't seen Terry in a very long time and there is no way I'm not going to stop seeing him…
- But Candy, said Marlowe, thing about what they're going to say…
- Terry and I are friends, and I don't care what people are saying and I'm not going to give them the pleasure to stop seeing a friend I haven't seen in a long time!
- All right, said Hathaway
- But Mr. Hathaway…, said Marlowe
- It's her private life, she can do whatever she wants
- I can leave the theatre and stay with Terry, said candy
Her eyes met Terry's, so full of love.
- No, that would be a disaster for the troupe! We haven't finish our tour yet, we can't replace you with your understudy… people are coming to see you! Said Hathaway
- You do know that I'm doing this job because I love acting, right? I don't need the money, I have a trust fund from my father's family and my mother's, I got my divorce settlement, that's without counting the money I made doing my movie and the plays…
- Yes, said Hathaway, we're going to leave you with your friend… come on Marlowe
- But…
- Let's go! Said Hathaway walking to the door
Marlowe followed him against his will. Terry looked at Candy.
- Are you sure it's going to be all right? He asked still with the paper in his hands
- The press knows me… even if they're saying almost the truth...
- Almost the truth?
She approached him and he stood up putting the paper on the table. He took her in his arms.
- Yes, you, you were my lover in Scotland, right?
- That's right; we haven't soiled our St. Paul's door beds…
- We were about to…
- You know, in the eyes of the Lord, intention counts as a sin?
- The Lord is hard on us. I love you Terry…
- I love you Candy
And he took her lips in a passionate kiss. They spent the day together with Esther. Terry since he was on call the day before, had two days off. He went to see Candy's play again, and he was about to see her in her dressing room this time around. The rumors and the papers continued saying nonsense, but they didn't care, they continued seeing each other.
oOoOoOoOoOo
The news arrived to Candy's ex-husband's ears, who was hurt to learn that Candy had a lover since school and that she had found him again after their divorce. He was talking to one of his female friends.
- Terrence Andrew? NoHo's wasn't with Candy, he was with Eleonor! She likes them younger!
- You're always defending her!
- I'm telling the truth. Candy didn't have a lover; it was her mother who was sleeping with that teen…She liked gangbanging with younger boys!
- You're talking nonsense!
- Esther…
- What about Esther?
- She has the same smile as that doctor…
- Now you're insane… Eleonor Baker would've had a child with a teenager?
- What? They are perfectly capable, are they not?
"Not everybody is capable" mumbles his friend softly.
- Did you say something? Asked the prince
- No, nothing. So you're insinuating that the young doctor is Esther's father?
- I'm not insinuating, I'm confirming it! The dates match, They were all in Scotland together… Esther is born nine months after the summer holidays in Scotland, when Eleonor went to see Candy…
- You were in Scotland too, right?
- Yes, I was, I spent a lot of time with Candy…
- You still love her don't you?
- She's the nicest girl in the world, he said full of love
His friend shook her head.
- She really loves her little sister a lot, she said
- A little too much, you mean. The little one spent more time with Candy than with her mother. She called her "Mummy Candy"…
- It didn't bother you?
- She was happy with Esther, I wanted her to be happy…
"Especially since you couldn't give her a child" Said his friend in her mind.
- She wanted a child, she said out loud
- Let's not talk about that…, said the prince sadly, she's with Esther now and she's happy.
- But she's with her mother's former lover, according to you…
- It's probably for Esther… What wouldn't Candice do for Esther?
There was an anonymous source who told the Europeen papers the ridiculous story about the young doctor who was with Princess Candice, was the former lover of her mother , Eleonor Baker, and that he was little Esther Baker's father…
oOoOoOoOoOo
It was the day the troupe had to leave for another city. Candy, Esther and the nanny were ready with their luggage too. Terry, who had spent all of his free time with them, took them to the train station. There were a lot of reporters waiting for them. Everybody was surrounding Candy of course.
- Princess, what do you think about your ex-husband declarations?
- I don't know what you're talking about, said Candy
They arrived in front of the train… the other members of the troupe were also there. Marlowe approached her.
- Let's go Candy…
- I'm coming, said Candy
She turned to Esther.
- You promise me you're going to be good?
- Yes, mummy Candy
- What? Said Marlowe, she's not coming with us?
- No, said Esther, I'm staying with Terry!
- Damn, the papers were telling the truth?!
- What papers? Said Candy
- Let's get on board! Said Hathaway
- All right, said Candy
She turned to Terry, who quickly kissed her on the lips and she got on the train.
- Good bye Sapphire eyes
- Good bye Mummy Candy
- Good bye my sweetie, put your headphones on and listen to the music
- All right, said the little one
She didn't want Esther to hear the silly questions from the reporters. Candy kissed her on both cheeks and got on the train. Terry, the nanny and Esther left the train station, running away from the reporters the best way they could. He ignored the reporters. They arrived at the apartment with the nanny. They were alone; the others were still not back for their work day.
oOoOoOoOoOo
In the train, Candy was reading the news on her laptop and she couldn't believe her eyes…She took her cellphone and she dialed a number.
- It's me! She said
- I was expecting your phone call…
- No kidding!
- It's not my fault…
- You talked too much
- I was just making a comment after the article saying that he was your lover since school, came out…
- And all you found better to say was that he was my mother's and Esther's father?
- Well…
- I've never been unfaithful to you Andrea
- I know honey, but you always defend that doctor and Esther looks like him…
- Andrea, that's enough! How could you do that to me? You want me to open my big mouth too with the press, like you?
- I didn't talk to the press!
- You might as well! The reporters ambushed me at the train station, asking Terry if he was Esther's father!
- He's a big boy!
- Esther was with him! You don't hurt Esther; otherwise you're going to have to deal with me! You know what I'm capable of!
- Candy, please forgive me don't avenge yourself, please
- You're going to give a retraction…
- What? But…
- Or I'm going to open my big mouth…
- All right. I'll do it.
- Good bye Andrea
Marlowe was looking at her with mocking eyes.
- Everything is all right with your prince?
Candy didn't reply, she was looking at different articles on the net about Andrea's insinuations. She has exaggerated a little. Terry haven't heard the questions, the reporters were more interested by her than by Terry and Terry was plugging his ears when he was running away from the press…
oOoOoOoOoOo
Jones came back to the apartment and Esther was very happy to see him. He took her in his arms and threw her in the air and she was laughing out loud.
- Esther, our little princess! Said Jones.
- Hello Jones!
- You're becoming more and more beautiful, my God!
- Thank you, said Esther laughing
- You're going to spend a few days with us?
- Yes, until mummy Candy's tour is over…
- That's wonderful! We're going to have fun like crazy!
They went to the kitchen to cook the dinner. The nanny was with them. When the girls came back, they took Esther to bathe her and get her ready for diner.
- How are you Esther? Asked Allyson.
- I'm fine, thank you, what about you?
- I'm fine…
- Ashley?
- Peachy!
- Eliza?
- I'm fine darling… we're going to have fun among girls!
They had dinner altogether and they had a lot of fun with Esther. Then they all went to tuck her in. Esther was glad to have all these people taking care of her.
After that, all the adults were in the living room to talk to Terry.
- So? Said Jones
- So what? Asked Terry
- You know what we're talking about right? Said Ashley
- No, what are you talking about? Asked Terry
- He doesn't know, said Allyson
- I don't know what? Asked Terry
- The press, said Eliza
- Oh the article about Candy and I? That's nothing; her manager wanted us to stop seeing each other, when Candy said she was acting to have fun not for the money, that she wouldn't hesitate to stay here with me…
- Really, what did the manager say?
- He didn't insist…, said Terry smiling
- Cool, said Jones, but that's not what we're talking about
- What were you talking about then?
- You did you go to the train station with Candy, right? Sked Jones
- Yes…There were a lot of reporters asking questions, said Terry
- Did you hear the questions?
- Euh no, I wasn't listening
- Incredible! Said Allyson laughing
- Is someone going to tell me what's going on?
- I'm going to show you, said Jones talking his laptop
He started typing, for a moment and he continued.
- What's going on? Asked Ashley
- I can't find the article, said Jones
- What? Said Allyson, let me see…
Allyson took the laptop and she started typing and typing…
- It disappeared! Said Allyson
- What's disappeared? Asked Terry
- The article saying that you had an affair with Eleonor Baker, said Ashley
- THE ARTICLE SAYING WHAT?! Yelled Terry despite himself
- That you had an affair with Eleonor Baker, repeated Ashley
- And that you were Esther's father, ended Eliza
- WHAT?! You're putting me on! Said Terry
- I swear to you buddy, said Jones
- I'd like to see that article, said Terry
- It was erased…
- I'm going to call Candy, said Terry going to his room
But Candy was on stage, so he left her a message on her voice mail.
"Hello, Freckles, can you call me when you come back? I love you. Thanks"
He hung up the phone and he saw that there was a message from Candy
"Sapphire Eyes, where are you? Call me back. I love you"
He went back to the living room.
- So?
- I've left her a message…
Half an hour later, his cell phone rang.
- Freckles? Said Terry standing up
- Terry… are you all right? Is Esther all right?
- Yes, said Terry walking to his bedroom and closing the door. I wanted to speak to you…
- About what?
- Jones and my cousins are telling me that there was an article saying that I've had an affair with your mother and that I'm Esther's father…
- Oh that… I took care of it...
- That's why we can't find any trace of the article on the net?
- Yes…
- Who told that story?
- It's not important…
- Candy…
- Terry…
- It's your prince euro trash, right?
- Yes…
- Your prince is so jealous of me that he's rather believe that I was with your mother instead of you? To the point he's saying I'm Esther's father!
- Does that bother you?
- Of course not… You know how much I love her, he said softly
- She loved you too…
- In a perfect world, she'd be our daughter and she looks like you.
"But she doesn't have my smile…" Said Candy to herself.
- In a perfect world, yes… said Candy out loud and we would've had a boy who looks like you…
- I'd like to have a mini-me … oh well… thank you for removing the articles from the net, it takes some kind of royally power to do something like that… we can see you're not a princess for nothing…
- What's the point of having relations and don't use them…?
- I still can't believe they think I'm Esther's father… even though…
- What?
- Two years ago, when I took her with me at Wal-Mart, a lady told me, my daughter looked a lot like me, that she had the same mime and the same smile as me…I told her she wasn't my daughter, but she seemed skeptical…
- Terry, I'm sorry, but I have to go, I have to get back on stage… Good bye honey! I love you.
- I love you too, good bye beautiful…
Terry hung up and he went back to the living room where the others were waiting for him.
- So? Asked Jones
- Well, it was her who made the articles disappear, said Terry
- Incredible! Said Jones, she's got that kind of power?
- You have to believe it, said Terry
- Hi dude! Said Patrick who had arrived in the mean time
- How are you doing Patrick?
- If I understand correctly, the prince rather believe you were with Eleonor Baker, than with Candy?
- He'd rather pervert his mother-in-law instead of being cheated on, said Ashley laughing
- Candy fixed everything…
- But the press is going to continue pursuing you, said Eliza.
- I've got nothing to say to them, said Terry, I'm going to take a few days off and leave with Esther to the Pony Home to be out of their sight, ok? Mum's the word!
