April's Team: Mars; Burn (Charizard); Thunder (Electabuzz); Happy (Ludicolo); Sam (Riolu/Latios)
James' Team: Gardevoir; Sceptile; Ninetails; Nidoqueen; Corey (Mewvee)
RE: Zero Lunar; Very astute observation, and in a way, I guess you could say that the black balls influenced me, that is not the sole inspiration for the design. Other factors were considered. And one point away from state? That's rough. Hope you get/got there this time.
There's….not much to be said here. Except for thank you for all the awesome support.
POV: Mars
Let's just say this; I was completely outclassed. Watching the trio fight against Giratina put it into perspective for me. Compared to those three, I might as well be a bump on a log. I probably should've just relaxed and let the three rip Giratina apart. Raikou roared, hitting Giratina with a bolt of lightning, while Entei blasted him with fire. As soon as the duo stopped their attack, Suicune blasted him with an aurora beam, freezing his wings together. I stood off to the side, watching in awe at the display.
Giratina broke free of the ice and rose in the air, charging a black ball of energy and completely focused on the trio. I took this as my chance and fired an ice beam, not doing much but startle Giratina. But that was enough to let the trio launch themselves at him again, catching him off balance.
"Nice work, Mars!" Raikou yelled. "Shoulda used thunderbolt, but still good! Speaking of which; THUNDA!" The air hummed with electricity as Raikou summoned a mighty thunderbolt, blasting Giratina with a force only a legendary could muster.
"Quit showing off would you?! I'll just have to one up you!" Entei roared, fire billowing from his maw. Giratina looked at him just in time to receive the massive star of fire in the face, the blazing heat uncomfortable even from the distance I was at. Giratina made no sound as he was struck, feeling the full brunt of the Volcano Pokémon's power.
"Not everything is a contest, you two." Suicune chided, a cold wind suddenly blowing from his direction. Icy hell was unleashed as the north wind began to howl, bringing with it the fangs of winter. A blizzard struck Giratina, freezing him and everything around him solid. The wind died as soon as it had appeared, revealing a snow covered beach and a twenty-foot-tall, ten-foot-thick block of ice encasing Giratina. "But if it must be, I win." I suddenly became aware that my jaw was hanging open, so I closed it. The other two members of the trio huffed, muttering something scathing about water types. Suicune just looked smug.
"Mars?" April called weakly from behind me. I whipped around to see that she was standing up, staring wide-eyed at the ice sculpture and the dog trio.
"Mars! Focus and get her out of here! The ice won't hold long!" Suicune yelled, his momentary smugness gone. I looked back at him, and saw that he was right. Already, the white ice was turning black and cracking.
"April, run!" I yelled. April blinked and took a shaky step forwards, towards me. "No, turn around and run!" My legs carried me to her in the blink of an eye, catching her as her knees collapsed. I grunted at the impact, positioning my body so she would fall length-wise across my back. I glanced at the ice, watching as it shattered, sending ice shards flying everywhere. The attacks the trio had prepared were deflected harmlessly as Giratina emerged in a swirl of black and purple flame.
I was torn at this point, and it was my hesitation that got April into trouble. Should I run with April, or stay and help the trio? My pride as an Absol told me to stay and help; this was a disaster and should be dealt with. But my bond with April told me to run and get her to safety. It was in this moment of hesitation that Giratina's flames erupted to my left, effectively blocking my escape route and burning the soles of her shoes. I cursed and leapt away, getting her out of the range before laying her gently on the ground.
"No one is going anywhere. You are all going to die here." Giratina's fear washed over me, causing me to shudder and April to curl into a ball. There was a weak growl directly to my left, and for the first time I noticed that the rest of the team, Burn, Happy, Thunder, Sam, and Aerodactyl, were lying on the ground to my left. Burn was struggling to his feet, wheezing with the effort and growling weakly at Giratina.
"Wh-what the hell is that, Mars?" He asked, trying desperately to keep the trembling out of his voice and glancing at me out of the corner of his eye. Before answering, I looked up at the sky, wondering if Burn could fly April out of here. The black flames had covered the sky too, effectively creating another dome.
"I don't know." I said, watching as Giratina engaged the trio. It was going the same way as before, and I felt reassured, watching as the trio began to dominate Giratina once more. "To me, it looks like a fusion of the true Giratina and a human, but I really don't know. The dog trio showed up just in time to save my hide." Burn remained silent, and I gripped April's sleeve in-between my teeth, slowly dragging her over to Burn.
"What are you doing?" He asked. I shook my head, dropping her next to Burn and glaring at Giratina.
"I'm going to help Suicune. You watch everyone for me, would you?" Without waiting for a response, I raced forward, towards the battle. Thunder, fire, and ice rocketed through the air at high speeds, usually followed by a purple stream of energy from Giratina, who was beginning to counter-attack.
"That is ENOUGH." Giratina bellowed, black energy exploding from his body. The legendary dogs flinched. They flinched. "I have entertained your foolishness long enough. Succumb to fear before I am forced to do something more drastic." Raikou chuckled, an edge of nervousness in his voice.
"Looks like we've sufficiently provoked him, haven't we o' brothers of mine?" He said. Entei nodded, shrugging.
"Yes we have. Haven't had this kind of excitement in millennia, have we?" Entei chuckled.
"No we haven't. You shouldn't underestimate us, Giratina. Don't get overconfident just because you're-"
"Not dying?" Giratina finished. The silence that followed was deafening. The three dogs visibly stiffened, and I just felt confused. "It is you who should not underestimate me. I know, Suicune, Entei, Raikou, what is happening to you. The eldest and most powerful of the legendary dogs, the original three. After three millennia of living, your life is coming to an end, and the end draws near. I can sense it."
"How do you-" Raikou was cut off by Entei.
"Don't, Raikou. He's an incarnation of Giratina, it'd be weird if he didn't know." Entei said. Suicune closed his eyes, while I stood there in shock. How could a legendary be dying…?
"Yes, we are dying. We are old, and our power is not what it used to be. In our prime, you would be nothing more than a pile of ashes by now. But do not think, for a second, that we will be pushovers." Suicune growled. Raikou chuckled, electricity popping as he advanced towards Giratina.
"The term 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks' seems incredibly accurate when speaking of you three. I cannot even teach you fear. So be it. I will end your lives here and now." Giratina said, purple energy swirling around him once more. His presence increased tenfold, and I felt my knees buckled. Raikou laughed louder, his voice booming.
"Let us show you why they coined that term, whelp. It's because old dogs like us don't need it." Raikou growled. The trio attacked once more, shaking me out of my shock. I don't know what Giratina was talking about, but by Arceus, when this is over, I will find out. I promised myself, pushing to my feet. Suicune raced past me, the north winds following, and I shuddered. Fear left me as he raced past, leaving me feeling strong and….clean. I blinked, wondering what had just happened.
"He's the embodiment of the north wind, kid. Purity and all that kind of crud. It'll have that effect on you. Get up and fight harder now." Entei said, appearing next to me and unleashing an unholy blast of fire at Giratina. We leapt away as Giratina retorted, soaking the spot in blackness. I growled and took a step back, letting the trio draw Giratina's attention. There's no way I could match the trio's power, so I'd just prowl about the edges, attacking when and where I could, generally making a nuisance of myself.
Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be any openings. The trio kept him pretty well wrapped up for a good ten minutes before I got my first ice beam in. The dogs moved around him like a pack of Mightyena, keeping their prey focused on the whole pack rather than a single target. It was a good strategy, considering the three were very nimble and Giratina's aim was worse than any I'd ever seen. But slowly, ever so slowly, the dog trio slowed and Giratina's aim became better.
I yelped and leapt to the side, narrowly dodging a beam of energy. Giratina glared at me, shaking off the ice beam, before his attention was drawn back to Raikou, who latched onto him with a thunder fang. Giratina grinned, and suddenly he vanished, taking Raikou with him. I blinked, and everything stopped.
"Arceus dammit! I told that idiot not to use physical attacks!" Suicune roared. Entei was breathing hard, licking his lips as we waited for Raikou and Giratina to reappear.
"I'm sorry, what the hell is going on? What just happened?!" I asked nervously. Suicune growled and trotted over to me, also breathing heavily.
"It's one of the real Giratina's favorite tricks. He'll wait until you touch him with a physical attack before using shadow force; a move that Giratina uses to travel to and from the Reverse World. In the Reverse World, Giratina's power is absolute. This Giratina has the same devious nature as the original, so I wanted to play it safe and avoid contact. Unfortunately for us, this means that our little game of tag is over." Suicune said calmly. "Without the three of us to distract him, we will no longer be able to stall for time." I blinked, soaking this information in.
"What?! You're Suicune! And Entei! How could you lose?!" I roared. Suicune looked at me, his eyes completely cold.
"I didn't know you held me in such high regards. Thank you." Suicune said.
"I don't." I snapped without thinking. Suicune chuckled and I took a deep breath, calming my nerves. This was really beginning to wear on them. I was tired and angry and not thinking straight. "What I mean is that when the legendaries arrive, it's supposed to spell doom, destruction, and complete annihilation of the enemies." Suicune shook his head.
"No. When the minor legendaries arrive, it's for a small problem or to stall. When the Immortal legendaries arrive, it spells destruction for our enemies. When Arceus arrives…" Suicune shook his head. "Well, let us pray that never happens. Now focus. He will appear again shortly." Suicune said, and trotted away, standing between me and Entei. Burn stood off to the side, still watching us carefully and looking pale. The rest looked like they were in a fitful sleep, curled into balls of fear.
"We really should take care of this fire." Entei said. "It's dark, evil, and amplifying his powers." As we watched, the shadows underneath him began to pool.
"Entei." Suicune warned, seeing the same thing I did.
"I know, I know, stay focused." Entei said. Then a wall of darkness rose behind him.
"ENTEI!" Suicune roared, but it was too late. Giratina exploded forth, dragging an unconscious Raikou with him. Entei let out a yelp, which lasted a full half second before he was knocked unconscious from Giratina's full-body tackle. Suicune growled and fired an aurora beam without hesitation, which scored a direct hit. Giratina rose, glaring at Suicune.
"And then there was one." Suicune dodged a ball of black energy, and I fired an ice beam. Giratina shrugged it off, aiming directly for Suicune, who led him on a wild goose chase around the arena, firing aurora beams and bubblebeams as he went.
"You can't catch the wind, fool." Suicune taunted, leaping out of the way and firing a blizzard. He had to stop to do so, which I immediately saw as a mistake. Giratina grinned, darkness exploding forth from his body and creating a second black sphere around the two of them. I blinked, charging an ice beam and firing it at the sphere. No luck, the sphere just absorbed it. I waited for a few seconds, and the sphere dissipated, bringing fear back with it. Suicune fell to the ground, unconscious.
"It is true that you cannot catch the wind, but you can trap it in a jar." Giratina turned towards me. "Remind you of anything? We've been here before. Only this time, the legendaries will not be here to save you."
POV CHANGE: Namuba
I sighed, watching the fights as they progressed. Zekrom and Palkia might be insubordinate…I didn't really want to have to resort to drastic measures, but it would probably come to that. Zekrom and Lucien clashed once again, the result being an impressive explosion of lightning and pure white light. Lucien's powers were intriguing, and I intended to let the fight drag on for as long as possible before I either had to…ah….discipline Zekrom, or figured out Lucien's powers.
As for Giratina, I couldn't be happier. His performance was exemplary, taking out Red and the little girl (whatever her name was), and even the legendary dogs. I hadn't expected them to appear so soon, but it all worked into the plan. I cracked my knuckles, watching from Giratina's point of view as the mega evolved Absol slowly fell.
And the other…He was nowhere to be found. None of the sensors could find him, the tracking device might as well have been non-existent. Wherever he was, I was almost positive I had lost him. He wasn't coming back anytime soon. I cursed, slamming my fist on the table. I hadn't wanted to create him in the first place, but it was unavoidable. I needed him for my final creation. Speaking of which….I turned away from the screens, looking at the final green tube. Inside was Catherine, undergoing a transformation.
"Now, now, don't be upset with me. I needed someone blessed by Arceus for this. You, being an aura guardian, were perfect for the job. And with your personality…" I chuckled, putting one hand on the tank. "It was too good to let it pass. Thank you for showing up like I knew you would." Catherine's eyes twitched, blinking open to stare at me. They were red now, as her hair turned white. I grinned. It was close. So, so close. That destruction I craved, the chaos I wished to create. It was only a matter of hours now, and it would all fall into place. Or, in this case, knock everything out of place.
POV CHANGE: Lucien
I was beginning to figure out my new powers. The white swords I wielded, they were just as malleable as the black orb, but were more physical. The black sphere wasn't physical at all. My powers worked with mental and spiritual energies, not unlike aura. But…it wasn't aura like the aura guardians wielded. It just felt different, not that I really knew how the aura guardians felt in the first place, though.
Zekrom hurtled towards me, but this time I didn't move. His fist froze midair, black energy holding him in place. I found that I was able to use this energy best when I was still, both mentally and physically. However, for most fights, that was impractical. I opened my mouth, and a black hyper-beam like attack exploded from it, blasting Zekrom backwards, and sending him tumbling through the air. We were fighting midair, Zekrom floating while my wings held me in place with massive wing beats.
"How long are we going to drag this out?" Zekrom demanded. "Are you just going to toy with me?" I raised an eyebrow and shook my head.
"Come now, we both know neither of us is fighting seriously." I said. Zekrom scowled, shaking with rage.
"That's not the point. I'm not fighting seriously because you aren't. When I said I wanted to fight you, I wanted to go all out against you, not tip-toe around each other, playing a shoving match. I though you wanted to defeat me." Zekrom challenged. I frowned and crossed my legs, sitting cross-legged midair. It wasn't as comfortable as you would think, but it looked cool and mystical, so I stuck with it.
"Hm. But that's a problem, because you see, I don't want to defeat you." I said, shrugging. "I want your help. I want to help you."
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!" Zekrom roared. "WHAT ABOUT DESTROYING ANYONE WHO GETS IN YOUR WAY, HUH? WHAT ABOUT KILLING THE DEVIL?!" I frowned at him, thinking about it. It was a legitimate question, one that I'd been mulling over since the start of the fight. Luckily, I had an answer. Sort of.
"I don't really know." I said honestly. "But when I…evolved, transformed, whatever you want to call it, it did more than just change my body and powers. It changed who I was. No, not that. I am still Lucien. It developed my ideas."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean." Zekrom said flatly. I closed my eyes and put one hand to my chin, thinking about it for a second.
"It means that…it fully developed ideas that I had lurking inside me for the longest time. I used to think that my place in this world was that of an abomination's, one that didn't belong. But somehow I knew that was wrong, every time I said it, it felt wrong. I have a place in this world, and that place is whatever I want it to be. I used to pretend that I liked hurting people, as if it was penance for the torment I endured. But lately I've been wondering… 'do I really want to hurt people? Is that how I want to be remembered? As the revenge artist; the man who left destruction and pain in his wake?' Now, I will admit that some of those people probably deserved it…yeah, they deserved it, but that's beside the point. I don't want to hurt people, it doesn't bring me any pleasure. Bad things happen to you when you do bad things." I paused at this point, thinking of how to articulate my point properly.
"I cannot deny who I am; I am a warrior, meant to fight. That much is self-explanatory. I fight for what I think is right and true in this world. But now…I fully understand what my ideals are, whereas before I was just sitting on the fence, browsing the options. It just sort of clicked, you know?" I said. Zekrom was silent, before lightning exploded around him.
"I will put your ideologies to the test, Lucien." Zekrom said, growing completely serious. "If you do not go all out, I will kill you." I remained silent, sliding into a fighting stance and collecting black energy around me. Zekrom roared and charged, all of his power packed into his fist as he hurtled towards me. Instead of striking back, like he expected, I did the opposite. My white swords melded together into a shield, with added black energy to boot, blocking his attack. BOOM! The pent up energy of Zekrom's strike exploded, sending us both hurtling towards the ground. I spread my wings as I fell; slowing my decent while Zekrom continued to speed up, hitting the ground fifty feet below face-first. I gently drifted down, standing over where he lay. "Humph. You didn't strike back." Zekrom muttered into the dirt, after a moment of collecting his wits. I could only imagine what that felt like.
"No." I said.
"Cheater."
"All's fair in love and war."
"Shut up, you prick." He groaned, rolling over. I grinned.
"So will you help me, then?" I asked. Zekrom stared at me for a moment before closing his eyes.
"It would've made for a better statement if you hadn't used that white stuff for a shield." He noted. I chuckled.
"Sorry. Still getting used to this, I didn't even think about it." I said sheepishly, rubbing the back of my head. The white shield was still floating in front of me, and at a wave of my hand, it floated towards my body and made a makeshift belt. It, unlike the black orb, would not disappear completely when I wished it to. Zekrom sighed and I stuck out my hand, offering to help him up. "So? What'll it be? Or do you want to spar a bit more?"
"I don't need your help getting up." Zekrom snapped, slapping my hand away and slowly standing up. He groaned and rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck. He glanced to his left, where Palkia was standing, watching us intently. They nodded to each other, and Zekrom shook my still-outstretched hand. "But I will accept your help in getting rid of the Devil." I grinned wider, and felt an immense weight lift off of my shoulders, proving the point that I didn't want to fight these two. Well….at least not really fight them. Sparring was fun. But that's beside the point.
Pop. Zekrom's expression turned sour and his eyes became crossed as he crumpled to the ground. His death was instantaneous, and Palkia screamed. Nothing really registered for me as he fell, time slowing to an almost inexplicably slow pace. His hand loosened and fell out of my grasp. His eyes remained open. The blue light had faded from his body. He hit the ground. Just like before. I gritted my teeth, looking up at the sky as Palkia gripped his dead body.
"Once, just once is all I ask." I said, nothing more than a whisper. I looked back down at Palkia.
"Zekrom!" Palkia yelled, tears streaming down her face. "Zekrom! B-brother…" She sobbed, looking up at me. I expected her to blame me, to see hatred in her eyes. All I saw was sadness. My throat clenched and I leaned forward, touching one finger to her forehead. My powers reached into her body, feeling the small explosive device embedded in her brain. A thin layer of white energy surrounded it, and I held out my left hand. With nothing more than a slight pop, the pill-shaped explosive appeared in my hand. A red light blinked, and I closed my fist around it, feeling the pop as it detonated. When I opened my hand, all that was left of it was a small black spot and a few shards of metal.
"I'm so sorry." I said quietly, pushing black energy into her mind. I felt the thoughts slow, dissipating into nothingness as she fell into unconsciousness. Palkia slumped to the ground, next to Zekrom. I don't know why I did that, it just felt like she needed it. Footsteps could be heard behind me, and I slowly turned around. About twenty human/Pokémon hybrids stood behind me, of all varieties. There were the ones from the first tests, with simple crystals imbedded in their bodies that signified their powers, to ones that had characteristics of a Pokémon as well as human. A range of powers swirled around them. The front one held a loudspeaker, the cord running into the mountain, through a door that had opened in the rubble.
"Congratulations, Lucien." I raised a finger gun. "You have succ-" BLAM. A ball of white energy erupted from my finger, interrupting Namuba's speech. I wasn't in the mood for this shit.
"Sit. Down." I said quietly, the words deafening. One by one, they all sat, and I walked through their midst. What I felt wasn't anger. It wasn't rage, or unadulterated fury. Those words could not describe what I felt. Just once, just once, I wanted to win. Truly win. I wanted to help Zekrom and Palkia, I wanted to free them from Namuba, but not through death. My feet echoed across the dusty tile as I entered the gates of hell, walking into the Devil's domain. But today it wasn't. Today, I am going to make the Devil my bitch.
POV CHANGE: Gardevoir
Time stood still. That's the first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes. Shards of trees stood frozen in time, hanging midair. I picked myself up off of the ground, looking around. The sky was grey. Everything was grey, and nothing moved. The air was stale.
"James?" I called, with both voice and mind. I could sense nothing when I expanded my psychic powers, no minds, not even the dull hum between trees. I shuddered. There was nothing more terrifying than absolute silence. "James!" I called again, spinning around. And there he was, lying on the ground, with Kabutops protecting him with his hard shell. My pokeball lay next to him, broken in two. I rushed forwards, putting one hand to his neck. He, like the rest of the world, was perfectly, unnaturally still.
"Ah, forgive me, I still have a little trouble controlling my powers. When I first used them, I reappeared in second century Unova." A voice said behind me, disrupting the silence. The mental activity that ran through him appeared as if out of thin air. "Here, let me fix that for you. It'd be good if you and your trainer had a little heart-to-heart before…well…" I whirled around, looking at the speaker. It was male, and looked human, but obviously wasn't. Blue ripples radiated from the pentagonal crystal in his chest, which was encased in a silver breast-plate-like object. A silvery cape fell from his shoulders, while blue lines ran along his body, pulsing with energy. His hair was blue as well, his eyes pitch black with red irises. A silver helm sat atop his head, looking more a part of his body than a piece of armor.
"Who are you?" I demanded. He waved his hand, and a surge of mental activity appeared behind me, causing me to whirl back around. Color had returned to James and Kabutops, and the two of them let out a breath. I quickly did a check of their mental state; they were both unconscious. I let out a sigh of relief.
"Oh, he's unconscious. That's too bad." The man said. I turned back around, tears in my eyes.
"Thank you." I said with a slight bow. He snorted.
"Don't kid yourself. I did that for me."At my confused expression, he continued. "Look at me, kid. I'm an incarnation of the freaking time legendary Dialga. I've already lived for hundreds of years; years that the human me wouldn't have even lived to see. And you know what I figured out during all that time?" He asked, waving his hand through the air. I took a step back tentatively, sensing a shift in the pressure he emitted.
"N-no…" I said cautiously. He grinned viciously.
"I'm evil. I just love watching other people suffer, watching them squirm and squeal as they watch their loved ones die, see their faces as they themselves die. It's amazing!" He laughed, and then thought of something else. "And you know the guy who created me, Namuba? Hahaha, that guy's a riot. I love him! I actually manipulated him into creating me in the first place. His original intent was to create a duplicate of Lugia, y'know? But I suggested to him otherwise, all at a subconscious level of course. Grandfather paradox and all that. He created me so I could go back in time and tell him to create me, and then he created me and so on." His rambling intimidated me.
"W-wait….so…?" He grinned at me, a silver ball of energy forming in his right hand.
"In other words, I'm going to fulfill the mission given to me over two hundred years ago, which would be killing you." He said, and unleashed the ball of energy. I screamed and was blasted backwards, slamming into a tree. He suddenly appeared next to me. "Oh, that didn't do as much damage as I intended. Oh well. Scared yet?" He asked, bending down. I picked my face up out of the dirt. He looked satisfied, and laughed. "HAHAHAHAHA! That's a good one! Surprise, confusion, and fear, all in one! Let's see how that look changes when I do this!" He yelled, and suddenly reappeared next to James. I slowly stood up, charging a moonblast.
"Stay away from him!" I screamed, and fired. Dialga suddenly reappeared in front of me, his fist in my gut. I coughed and tasted blood.
"You can't win. I'll just pause time every time you attack. Don't bother." He said simply, and just like that, he was back to James, my moonblast still paused midair. I fell to one knee, still hacking, and he grinned. "Oh, dear lord I love that face." He said sadistically, bending over and picking up James by the throat. Anger surged through me, and I stood on my feet. He frowned, looking at me.
"Let. Him. GO." I ordered. He sighed and shook his head.
"That's not the right face at all." He said, and grinned. "How would it change if I-"And he froze, his body glowing blue alongside the rest of the forest. An enormous amount of power surged through me, and I walked forwards. Everything began to rise in the air, from the trees, to the stick and stones on the ground. Dialga was unable to move, still stuck holding James, one fist cocked back. His hand opened, and James floated behind me. Kabutops groaned and moved as well, lying right next to James. I stared straight into Dialga's eyes.
"Good." I said, my voice booming. "I like the look in your eyes. Confusion. Fear. How can you use your powers when everything, even your mind, is immobile? Except, of course, the optical nerve and the part of your brain that feels emotion." His eyes twitched, filling with anger. I felt emotions rushing through his mind, and I tapped into them. Emotions told the whole story. I saw everything, from the time he was let out of his tube to now. He'd killed hundreds, if not thousands, of people and Pokémon.
"HOW DARE YOU?!" His emotions bellowed.
"How dare I? How dare I?! How dare YOU! You threaten me, threaten my trainer, and kill because it is fun! I have read your mind, Dialga, and I know just what you have done with the gift that was your life." I snarled. My power weakened, and I felt coherent thoughts begin to break through.
"Then you know that unless you kill me, you will not be able to win. But how will you kill me? Your power weakens by the second, and though it surprised me, I doubt you will be able to do it again." He said, his thoughts becoming words. I gritted my teeth, feeling that he was right. My hold on him was weakening, and it was all I could do to stop him from freezing time. I closed my eyes, my throat clenching. "It is only a matter of seconds now, and I will be free. Then I will not waste any time in killing your beloved trainer, and then you."
"I'm lucky, in a way." I said quietly, holding my hands out. The forest returned to the ground as every bit of my power not focused on Dialga was used to create my last resort. "If you were Palkia, I wouldn't be able to do this." Pure blackness formed in-between my hands, the black hole forming. Dialga's eyes widened, and then narrowed as it floated above his head.
"A puny force like that can't kill me." He scoffed, breaking his right arm free and reaching up towards it He hissed as his finger began to swell, quickly withdrawing it. "Not nearly enough power to kill me." I gritted my teeth, feeling exactly what I must do. In an instant, all my power was diverted to the black hole, greatly enlarging it. Dialga's eyes widened, and I felt coherent thought run through James' mind. "No…why can't I….why isn't time stopping?!"
"Because in a black hole, time is warped." I said, using all my power to keep myself from getting sucked in. Dialga began to claw his way towards me, somehow resisting the gravitational pull. James and Kabutops began to slowly float towards it. I forced them back down.
"Y-you can't do this. The hole will keep expanding until everything is sucked into it!" Dialga howled.
"Without me to sustain it, it will fade into nothingness in an instant." I said flatly. Dialga's face turned red as he floated up towards the hole.
"I WILL NOT LOSE!" Dialga roared.
"G-Gardevoir?!" James said. I turned my face back towards him, tears streaming from my eyes. All I could manage was a smile before together, me and Dialga were sucked into the black hole.
POV CHANGE: James
Gardevoir's smiling face disappeared in an instant, being sucking into the black abyss along with the blue man. The black hole disappeared just a quickly. Color and sound returned to the forest, but I didn't notice. Slowly, ever so slowly, I picked up Gardevoir's broken pokeball, holding the pieces gingerly in my hands. The last of Gardevoir's mental energystill floated in the air, and I felt it touch my mind one last time.
I love you.
