"Ow, ow, ow."
"They're not in there anymore Haru..."
She turned to her husband, her eyes like fire balls. "Have you counted?"
"Every time they came out," he beamed at her irritated frown, and rubbed her cheek with his thumb. "And they were so cute... before they were taken away."
She growled, gripping his hand tighter. "Two of them were."
He winced, but smiled anyway. "Yes, two of them where be-... Oh... Oh! Crap there's another one."
She whimpered as a sharp twinge sparked through her lower abdomen. She laid her free hand over her stomach and spared her husband another merciful glare. "You're such a freaking moron, I hate you, we're getting a divorce the second this third baby comes out."
"...Why after? that seems a bit-"
"Because, I need someone's hand to hold, and I'll be damned if Tamaki is allowed in."
"Good to know you over rule me over him, darling." Hikaru rolled his eyes, gripping his wife's hand with his own, as he gently laid his other on the back of her hand. "Just breath, and it's not a boy, the other two were boys."
Haruhi rolled her head to look at him again. She was rather uncomfortable and arguing with him wasn't helpful in the slightest. " I don't care what it is. Tell this one to hurry up like it's brothers so we can be done with this crap."
He sighed, rubbing her forehead. "It's okay, remember those breathing exercises you were doing earlier? Those helped!"
She grabbed the collar of his shirt, pulling his face down to look into his eyes. He flinched and pulled back a little, as though he tried to escape her razor teeth. "Helped with contractions. Why don't you have three babies come out of you in places that aren't necessarily large, and see how you freaking you feel about it. Watch yourself breath."
"I'd rather not." He said gently, patting the back of her hand and pulled her hand away from his shirt, then casually sat back down in this chair. "You did good the first two times. This one's the last one, I promise. No more babies for today."
She looked back at him after glancing at the doctor who was standing there, chatting to the nurse about something about her two babies that were taken to the next room over just moments after they came out. "Why is this one taking so long?"
"It's only been two minutes, babe."
"The other ones made it easy."
"Maybe this one has a big head."
She glared at his attempt to be funny. "Why don't you take the second shift? Stop making a joke out of everything."
Hikaru smirked, even though he knew he should, and rubbed his the back of his hand over her forehead. "Sorry, just trying to loosen the tension." He moved his hand to her stomach. "Try not to think about it. Hey! our two sons don't even have names yet, why don't you think about that?"
Haruhi gripped his hand impossibly tighter and held back a shriek of pain. "Let them be nameless. I don't care."
He wrinkled his nose. "Aw, poor babies. I'm gonna tell them that mommy was a meanie."
"Screw you."
"Don't be like that." He rubbed his thumb against her hand and suddenly he gasped. "Maybe we should give them all names that match ours! They don't have to be Juniors or anything stupid like that... He could name her Kaori!"
She clenched her teeth, not appreciating her husband taking things so lightly. "Shut up. I change my mind, I don't need you here, go with the nurse to look at your sons or something. Leave me alone."
He pouted. "I don't think they'd hold a very good conversation... Maybe we could name them... Hatori? Naw... Hatsuto? Hmm... This is harder than I thought."
"I hate you so much right now."
Haruhi squeezed his hand, hunching her back as another contraction sprang through her lower body. She let out a small cry and dug her nails painfully into his skin. She felt him flinch but she ignored it. "Oh my god, we'll name this one after you."
He blinked. "...Why?"
"Because it's so fucking stubborn."
"...Whoa, whoa, Haru, language. The babies are in the other room."
"I don't give a damn, they don't understand a word I'm saying anyway."
He sighed, rubbing her forehead with his other hand, trying to sooth her. "It's okay, think happy thoughts. After this is over, we'll get the kids a nanny, and I'll take you to dinner, sound nice? And you can order all the tuna you want. How about that? How's that sound?"
"How about you take your freaking tuna, and shove it where the sun don't shine," she hissed. "How's that sound?"
"Not good. That's doesn't sound comfortable." He shook his head, giving her a dirty look as she wiped. "Happy thoughts Haru. Think... When the babies are old enough, we'll go on a trip! we'll go an a lot of trips. It'll be fun."
"The last one isn't even here yet, and you're all ready planning on taking them on an airplane?" she would have given him her normal eye roll, and scoff of mockery, but another contraction stopped her from saying anything. She nearly screamed as she crushed his hand.
"Hey... Ow, ow, ow..." He repeated her words from earlier as he felt his fingers press against the other, and the fragile bones to his hand be crushed. "Hayo... Hmm. Hey! Hayato."
He nearly screamed as she clutched his hand tighter.
He looked down at her, with a look of concern in his eyes. "Haru, really, is it healthy to strain so much? be careful with the baby. This one might be sensitive."
She looked at him and glared. "Excuse me?"
He sighed again. "What can I say that won't make you look a me like you want to bite my head off? I'm trying to help. Maybe I will just change places with Tamaki. That was you can make him cry instead."
She growled under her breath and he moved their balled up hands to her cheek, trying to comfort her. She felt tears prickle the sides of her eyes again as she leaned back into the pillows. "How about you say nothing? and just let me hold your hand for comfort like a normal man would. You're not crying, you're just sitting there. Are you the one giving birth to three big headed babies. No? I didn't freaking think so."
"I love you?"
"Shut up," she whined. Then her eyes suddenly widened as she felt a particular familiar pain in her lower half, and gave a half-scream that made everyone in the room shudder. "Ah! Oh my god. Hika... I-"
He looked at her. "I know, I love you too. I forgive you for all the insults."
She gave him another merciful glare and tugged his shirt, pulling his face back down to look at his face more clearly. "No. It's coming right now."
"What is?" he muttered, his brow furrowed in confusion, then his eyes ticked back down to her decreased stomach and his gasped. "Oh! uh... right... well, just... do what you did before!"
She could tell he was freaking out again like the first time (luckily the first two boys came out so close together, that it took only one freak out session) and squeezed her hand again, though of course it wasn't for his own comfort.
The doctor announced something about 'crowning' and she screamed again, and this time Hikaru almost rolled his eyes, but didn't as he saw his wife hunch over in pain. She panicked and stood up, holding her hand more securely.
The doctor kneeling in front of them told Haruhi to do something, but Hikaru didn't catch what that was, as he was apparently too busy focusing on squeezing her hand back, and moments later, she crushed his hand to an impossible extent and he blurted out a swear word that was drowned out by another scream from her.
Then the whole room fell silent just seconds after that last push. As there was a tiny, vulnerable cry that suddenly came from the doctors arms. Haruhi collapsed onto the bed in relief, but Hikaru's eyes shot up to where the defenseless noise was coming from, and looked in awe at the tiny, wailing baby.
He suddenly felt a strange surge of jealousy, watching the doctor fiddle with his daughter, but he didn't say anything, as he was just too busy looking at her to really care about anything.
Then suddenly, to Hikaru and Haruhi's confuse, the doctors began to panic, and leave the room with the nurses and their baby, and left through the same door they took their sons through and left them sitting there clueless to why they were panicking.
Tired and sparkling in sweat, Haruhi turned to him, still wearily holding onto his hand and they exchanged the same concerned frown. Hikaru didn't say anything, and just squeezed her hand again, brushing her bans away from her sweat forehead.
Afterwards, the doctors admitted that their daughter wasn't breathing after the birth, but after a little while they had gotten her to breathe fine on her own with some help of some breathing tubes. Haruhi was a little less than devastated, but Hikaru still didn't say a thing about it, and only wanted to cuddle her new daughter until he just didn't have any energy to cuddle anymore.
And that's exactly what he did when they were moved into an intense care room. Similar to the regular neonatal unit, but more isolated and private for the new family who wanted privacy with their babies (mostly requested by Hikaru).
It was only once they got comfortable did the nurses rolled their babies in to be wit them in their separate little cots. Haruhi was propped up in the large recovery bed, her hands placed on her deflated stomach, with Hikaru sitting next to her like before, chatting idly about the time in the delivery room where he found out a nice name, but then decided against it, as it kind of sounded like a name of a self-centered fashion model he worked with earlier one year.
Now they were happy and content with their three little babies, who of which all had at least one thing wrong with them, but that didn't make them any less special to Hikaru, as all he could see were three tiny little faces looking up at him.
He loved them to death the second they all opened their tiny beady eyes to stare back at him. The nurses all fluttered around him, trying to show him how to hold them properly, but he waved them all off and said, in a very childish tone, that he could do it.
Hikaru was busy fawning over their daughter, wiggling her nose with his finger until she let out a distressed whimper to make him stop. He snickered and rubbed his own nose into her cheek.
Haruhi was too tired, so she didn't even want to try to hold one, even if there was plenty to go around.
She glanced over at her husband, who was careful not to tangle himself in their daughters breathing tubes, and snorted in amusement. "Are you gonna give any of the other ones some attention?"
"I'm not done." He pouted, then his face changed dramatically as he looked back down at his still nameless daughter who made a weird gurgle sound. "Daddy was very traumatized by this one, huh baby who still has no name?"
Haruhi rolled her eyes, and smiled. "...Then give her one."
He gasped, and whispered a shocked response. "I'm thinking! This sort of thing takes time. Have to give her a perfect one."
"...Didn't you have seven months to think about this?"
"And think about it I did. But I'm still thinking about it, get over it."
Haruhi rolled her eyes again and looked over at the small cots her sons where in and watched as their oldest one wiggled his arm oddly against the wall of the bed, as he couldn't control his tiny limbs. "You better think of something before Tamaki comes in to visit. He might think of some for you."
Hikaru frowned, but his expression then softened again as he pulled his daughters tiny body closer to his chest. "...Well I had one for her when we were in the other room and you were crushing my hand until it was purple, but it was a boys name and she came out a girl."
Haruhi made a face. "You do know that she isn't your only kid, right?"
"Oh I know, but..." he bit his lip and glanced over at his sons, who were apparently sleeping, as they were so quiet. After remembering that his eldest one had a not so serious, but still present heart condition that was most likely going to stay with him forever, he sighed and slowly looked back at one baby in his arms. "Well... which one's the oldest?"
Haruhi pointed to the cot at her bedside.
"...Then... that one's Hayato."
She made a face. "Why Hayato?"
He tried not to laugh and wake them all up. "Cause 'Hey Ow' kind of sounds like 'Hayo', but 'Hayo' kind of sounds like 'Mayo', so I hatted a 'T' and it came out Hayato."
"Sounds like you thought about that a lot when I was giving birth to your children." She grumbled, annoyed that he was thinking about condiments. "What about the other one?"
"...I dunno. It's kind of hard to think about baby names when your wife is screaming..."
"For good reasons."
"I know, but still."
"You're such an ass."
"Shh! Not in front of the babies."
She rolled her eyes again, not having enough energy to argue with him. Hikaru nodded smugly and went back to cuddling with his daughter like the dopey father he felt like.
He laid his face on her head, and subconsciously smelt her little tuff of brown hair that tickled his nose. She made a cute sound that made him grin and cuddle her closer, trying hard not to squeeze her too tight. "She's so tiny."
Nodding, Haruhi leaned over, brushing her youngest son's bangs away from his foreheads. "They won't be so tiny for long... Babies grown up fast."
Hikaru grinned as their daughter wrapped her small hand around his finger. He nearly squealed and pulled her closer, nuzzling his face into her. "Well..." he paused, as he slowly put her down in his arms to hold her more securely, so she was safe and glanced over to his wife, who was fiddling with heir sons, who's cots were beside the other. With her hair pulled back away from her face, and her big brown eyes bright and full of love as she looked at their children, she looked... so beautiful, but he didn't say anything.
His eyes said everything he thought, and Haruhi caught his strange stare and looked at him weird.
"Don't stare," she mumbled, wrinkling her nose oddly. "It's creepy."
He slowly looked back down at their daughter. "...We should name... the other one something that sounds like Kaoru."
"Why?"
"Because I like Kaoru? And something that kind of rhymes with his brother's name, like mine and Kaoru's names. "
She shook her head, and ticked her son's stomach, while he slept. "...Keito."
He beamed. "Hey, that sounds like my secretary's name!"
She only nodded. "Not so loud, Hika, you'll wake them up."
He looked down, rubbing his daughter's cheek happily with his thumb. "Hanako's already awake."
"...Who?"
"Voice testing... I like that one."
"Hanako is cute. It sound's like daddy's name."
He flashed his wife a grin. Then quickly looked back down at the little girl who was looking at him curiously, with her hand still around his finger. He wiggled his finger, making her arm move with it. "Yeah, Hanako. Now they have names. Mission completed."
Haruhi snickered, carefully picking up a now whimpering baby that her husband's enthusiastic voice woke up, and cuddled Keito close to her chest, as Hayato still slept. "This one sleeps like you."
"And the other one apparently has your ability to sleep through anything."
Haruhi settled back into bed and snuggled with the baby in her arms, as she didn't feel as tired now, after that very tiny nap she had earlier, before the babies were brought in. She peaked up at her husband who was cooing Hanako, and having a quiet, almost silent on-sided conversation with her.
She smiled and just watched him. Whenever she looked at him, she never saw the kind of person she'd actually want to have kids with. She looked at him and saw the same little boy she went to high school with. She saw that same hormonal kid who she dated in college, who she never thought would ever ask her to marry him, or very bluntly tell her that they were going to get married whether she liked it or not.
She looked at him now, and she still saw that kid. Though now he was that kid, who now held their kids.
And, 'the father of her children', made her smirk, because that title suddenly fit him perfectly, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
Then, as everything was peaceful and quiet, the door opened and a nurse stuck her head inside. "Mr. Hitachiin, you're brother and father-in-law are out waiting to come inside. Should I let them?"
Hikaru looked over at her and at their son she held in her arms and frowned. "Crap, switch with me."
Haruhi frowned. "Why?"
"Because Tamaki will come in next, and he'll be too much of a gentleman to ask for the baby your holding, and he'll take the one I'm holding."
"...There's Hayato..."
"He's sleeping. I don't want that idiot to wake him up."
"Then let him hold Hanako."
"No!" He whined. "That one's mine. We've already bonded. And I don't want him to drop her."
"I don't think he'll drop her."
"Haru!"
She sighed. "Okay fine, switch with me than."
Though, even though he had his own kids, Hikaru, to Haruhi, was always going to be that... kid. Who changed her life forever that day he asked her to go out with him.
...The second time.
Haruhi turned over, as she suddenly awoke from a pleasure dream she was sucked into after falling asleep the second time.
It had been two days since Hikaru had left, and Haruhi was feeling undeniably... lonely.
And bored.
She was bored and lonely, and a hint of her wished that she hadn't have been so agreeable and supportive about him leaving. He knew he didn't want to go, but she had made it seem like she wanted him to. Which she did, to an extent, but having him leave, also left her absent of her most frequent visitor.
And that was lonely.
She had always had busy friends, and while she knew that they loved her, they couldn't visit her every waking moment of the day. They tried. But they couldn't. Her dad even tried to visit just as much as everyone else, but he worked afternoons and nights and it was difficult for him to come all the time.
Almost three weeks in this hell hole and I'm already sick to death with it.
I honestly rather would be dead.
Hikaru would probably slap me if I said that though, and scream that I could jinx something.
Haruhi sighed and sunk into the bed she laid on. The thin, comfortable blanket was draped over her lap, as she couldn't decide if she was hot or cold. The medicine she had to take in the morning and the night made her incredibly tired, so she has, had two naps already. It wasn't lunch yet.
She rubbed Her medicine that she had taken with her breakfast hadn't kicked in yet. She rubbed her abdomen with a wince and took a deep breath as she laid against the pile of pillows behind her head.
Things were so much harder for her now. She couldn't sit without being uncomfortable if she so as breathe, she couldn't stand without help (because standing used stomach muscles that were still sore from surgery) and breathing still was a little difficult to do without wincing a little.
Laying next to him, feeling his soft finger stoke her hair while she laid in bed with a hot pad on her abdomen was times she was going to miss over the course of how long her husband would be gone, but it couldn't be helped.
She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, wondering when lunch would be served around the patients. Normally, the hospital would serve the patients food whenever they asked, along with the regular serving time, but she didn't want to ask for food when lunch was just around the corner. She didn't want to come off as useless and needed, like everyone else, even if that was how she felt.
Haruhi moved the crook of her elbow over her eyes to block out any of the light that came from the bright room and tried to ignore the aching feeling in her lower half and attempted to take another short nap before lunch.
Beep-beep-beep
But obviously she couldn't do that.
She groaned, squinting her eyes shut tighter. She gripped the blankets and slowly moved her hand over to her phone that was beeping with a message, that sat on the side table. It continued to buzz until she reached over and grabbed it, shutting it up by sliding the screen.
Three text messages showed up on the screen. She signed. She could have sworn it was only one.

Sitting, practically on the other side of the globe, Hikaru continued to text everyone while he was on his phone, during a supposedly important meeting, that didn't feet that important.
To everyone:
From: Hikaru
Message: Haurhi! You're ignoring us again, don't go to sleep!
Here's chapter 51! Sorry it took so long to get up, I've been super busy. ):
This chapter wasn't all that exciting, but writing chapters with Hikaru out of town is difficult because I don't know what to write without a little HikaHaru goodness, so I add flashbacks and... Yeah.
Next chapter will be more exciting I hope! I got good ideas for the following chapters so I hope you guys check those out too! Also, I made a mistake I rewrote chapter 44 not chapter 43, sorry!
Hope you liked this other pointless chapter, I just want to write something like this, stay tuned for another update. I'm updating It Never Would'a Worked Out Anyway next. I left that one cliffy, oops.
