Please wake up
Ouat-Aholic asked for a oneshot of Emma in hospital. I've done a prequel of chapter 13 (Jugging) as Emma is in hospital there, but the focus there was more on Snow juggling parenting both her children.
Snow listened for each and every little beep from the machine. It told her that her daughter was still alive. Whale had told her that he believed the worst was over having gotten Emma through surgery, but that didn't stop Snow worrying. She heard the door open and looked up from her hands to see her husband.
"Hi." He greeted her wearily.
"Hi." She whispered back. Neither of them had slept much since the accident a couple of days ago. Red and Granny were looking after Neal most of the time with Snow and David practically living in the hospital, but they still made time to go check on him daily.
"Any news?" He asked, coming and sitting on the chair beside her. Snow shook her head.
"Not since this morning. Whale's hopeful she'll wake up soon." Snow's bottom lip starting quivering. "But David, what if, if she doesn't…" Snow couldn't even finish the sentence without bursting into tears at the thought.
"Oh hey, don't think like that." David said gently, pulling Snow over to him. "This is Emma here. She's tough, Snow. Just like her mother. She'll pull through this, just you watch." Snow sighed, momentarily relaxing into her husband's embrace before going over and taking Emma's hand. Whale had told them to keep talking to her, that it might help her wake up.
"Hi princess." Snow said softly. "We're all awful worried about you. Please, please Emma. Wake up. Wake up for mom." Suddenly Snow gasped. David looked over to her.
"Snow, what's wrong? Should I get Whale?" He panicked. Snow shook her head.
"No, she squeezed my hand." Snow told him. "It was very light, but it was definitely her." Snow took Emma's hand in hers and raised it to her cheek as David rushed over to take her other hand.
"Hey Emma. Now you listen to your old dad. You're going to wake up soon, do you hear me? You're not allowed to leave us. Not when we just got you back, ok?" David let out a small gasp of his own when he too felt a tiny little squeeze of his hand. He looked over to Snow, both having tears in their eyes.
"She's going to be ok." Snow said, finally beginning to believe it. David nodded in reply. He carefully reached down and kissed Emma's cheek.
"That's my girl. Don't you ever give up." He whispered. Snow looked at her daughter's sleeping face. A new hope stirring with in her. She knew that she would not rest properly until she saw her daughter's beautiful hazel eyes open once more.
