EPOV

I sat in my office thinking about dinner I had with my parents two nights before. Martian Dunn seemed to be very fed up with his wife. I could see a divorce coming from a mile away and if he could do it I'm sure that Martian would divorce his daughter too.

Tanya was a scary woman. I could not see why anyone would willingly marry her. She was vile, cruel woman that spoke down to anyone she thought was beneath her. If I didn't have so much money and the title she would probably talk to me like dirt instead of a piece of meat. I hate being a piece of meat.

"Mr. Cullen?"

"It my office." I called.

I heard the footsteps get louder until I saw my driver standing there.

"Is it alright if I go home now or would you like me to wait around for a few minutes"

"You can go. I'm going to be staying in tonight. I've got some studying I have to do."

"I'll have Marla fix you a small plate before she leaves for her vacation."

"She can leave now as well. I've eaten already." I said. "An thank you for last night."

"It was nothing anyone can twist an ankle and with that Tanya girl chasing after you I couldn't leave you." He replied. "Doing that would go against all the training I have undertaken."

"I thought you were just a driver?"

"Oh Mr. Cullen I am so much more."

"I'm not sure how to take that?"

"It would be a good thing. I served ten years in the queen's royal army before going to the privet sector." He replied.

"Why did you leave the army?" I asked.

"I lost my brother and I didn't want my mum to lose another son."

"Now I feel like an arse for asking that."

"It's alright, you didn't know." He replied. "Are you sure about staying in tonight?"

"Yes." I replied. "Stay safe."

"Will do. See you tomorrow and seven Mr. Cullen."

"Call me Edward."

"Only here at home in public it will always be Mr. Cullen."

I just nodded and turned my attention back to my homework. There were only a few assignments for class I had to finish but they were also worth a lot of my grade point average and I wanted to make sure each one was done a hundred present correctly. I had to pass these classes or they would be the end of my med school career.

"Edward!"

"What do you want Alice?" I asked. "I'm studying."

"We have things to go over for the ball."

"It can wait Alice."

"Edward we still haven't set a date for it. We have said that it will be in the spring some time but not when." She said. "We need a date."

"We are in March, pick any day in April besides the Easter holiday weekend."

"Thanks Edward. I'll pick one and send it to you."

"Okay now go."

I still had not gotten a hold of the company that brought jasper and I over here and it was no nearing the middle of March. We should have had the midway meeting by now but I have seen hide more nor Hair of the woman that introduced me to the McDermotte family. I hadn't looked online yet because I spent what little free time I had working on my school assignments. The rest of the time I was either cleaning or sleeping.

"Bella?"

I looked up to see Edward's cousin Alice looking at me. I had no idea why she was here in the school library since she didn't attend this school.

"Is there something you wanted?" I asked.

"There is actually." She said.

"And what is that?" I asked closing my book.

"Come to my cousin's ball on 20th of April."

"I don't think that will be happening."

"Why not? You and Edward seemed to get along well enough until those Dunn bitches got involved now you hardly say two words to him if you in the same room and even less if Tanya and Lilith are there. you two certainly got along well enough."

I tried to think of something to say but I couldn't find anything. I just looked down at my hands.

"Is there something going on at the Dunn house? Do you need help."

I took the card I was given and handed it to her.

"What's this?"

"I was told to call that number if I felt like I wasn't being treated right by the Dunn's. I've called that number at least once a day since the twenty second of march and each time I've only gotten a dial tone."

"That doesn't sound right? Have you looked them up online?" She asked.

"I haven't had the time."

"Is this the company name on the card?" Alice asked pulling her phone out.

"I believe so."

And then she was off typing away on her phone. She went on doing this for about an hour when she stopped.

"I haven't found anything recent." She said. "Can you get the number your friend Jasper is supposed to call for me."

"Sure." I replied.

I had texted jasper and it took him only a few minutes to send the phone number. I showed it to Alice who called it and got a dial tone.

"I'm going to give these numbers and the card to a cop friend of my dad's because this whole situation sounds fishy to me."

"I don't want to cause any trouble."

"Bella you and Jasper are in a foreign country where you know no one. You were brought here by a company that I can't find any recent information on."

"Oh."

"But to be safe go back to the Dunn home and pack your bags. I want you to be able to leave at a moment's notice if you have to."

"They already are."

"That's good. Oh and you are so coming to Edward's ball even if I have to drag you there myself."

"I really don't like dancing."

"Well neither does Edward so you two will get along." She replied.

Alice then went to call her dad and give him the phone numbers she had taken from me. I could here her voice change a little as she explained what was going on with me.

"Okay dad I'll let her know. When should we come there?" Alice said. "Alright I'll see you at the ball" make sure mum wears that blue strapless she bought last Friday." Another pause. "Love you to dad."

"Okay dad says to be safe that you should come with me but since you don't want to leave here because of that stupid company I want you to get a knife and hide it under your mattress."

"Already have one. I got it as a gift for my Dad's birthday. I just haven't been able to send it yet."

"We'll keep it." Alice replied "I don't know what this family is capable of."
