Rsdk525: Is Gilgamesh your favorite character?

Devil-l'Cie: I'm glad that you did decide to review, and the fourth-wall-breaks will occur therein.

And now, here's the the sixth bonus chapter!

Bonus Chapter 6: Clash on the Big Bridge

Once the three of us had properly rested we woke up one by one, until we were all awake. When that happened the Arbiter of Time reappeared, and I asked "How many opponents do we have left?" "Just two remain, apart from myself. Are you ready to face one of them?" the being replied. We nodded and he vanished. His voice could still be heard, and it said "Your next opponent is a warrior, both fearless and fierce! He wanders the Void in search of the ultimate arms of weapon. Brash is he, and reckless; though emotional and mercurial. His single-minded stubborn- er, 'stoicism' is the stuff of legend! For centuries has this soldier roamed the beyond. Now, finally, his obsession for weapons has led him to this field of battle. Not a man nor beast shall stand in the way for his unrelenting quest for vengeance. I give you...the mighty Gilgamesh!"

(Start Music: Clash on the Big Bridge- FFXIII-2 Version)

I frowned and held up Indomitus. I knew just from the fact it was Gilgamesh that this fight was going to be a long one, and that videos had seen back in my world were proof enough. On the ground in front of us a bright light appeared, six arms rising up and grabbing the floor. "I've been waiting in this Coliseum for so very long now!" a voice said, and Gilgamesh pulled himself out of the hole. It closed, and he looked up at the sky above. "I was starting to worry you'd never download this part of the game, and I'd be stuck in digital limbo!" he said. Serah frowned, saying "Um, Deiru? What is he talking about?" "Oh, nothing. Just a little breaking of the fourth wall going on," I said. "Breaking of the what?" Noel said in confusion.

"It's a long story. I'll explain it later," I said, also noting that Gilgamesh sounded just like Bender from Futurama. Interesting. Hearing us, the might warrior stopped and turned, drawing out four guns and a pair of rocket launchers. "See these weapons I picked up in the Rift? They let me predict the weather: bullet showers and rocket storms! Let it begin!" he said. Serah and Noel nodded, drawing their weapons as we charged. Gilgamesh aimed and opened fire, creating a shower of bullets just as he predicted. Serah cast Aeroga and the wind pushed them off-course, missing us. Noel came close enough to cast Fira and strike, giving him a cut on the leg. Gilgamesh leaped away and fired again, this time catching him in the leg.

Noel cried out in pain and stopped, casting Cura and Curasa to heal himself. Serah fired an arrow and it hit one of Gilgamesh's guns, piercing it and destroying the weapon. "What?! And I paid good money for that thing! Take this!" he yelled, firing a rocket. It flew at Serah and I leaped in front of her, slicing the rocket in two as it flew. The two halves fell to the side and exploded, while I sent an Energy Arc at Gilgamesh. He grunted and actually jumped over the first two waves, before he fell back down in just enough time to be hit by the third. He took a step back, but quickly regained his balance and fired at me. I held up Indomitus and blocked the bullets while Noel charged again, jumping into the air and slashing in an X.

Gilgamesh blocked Noel's attacked and pushed, sending him back to the ground. He aimed and fired, but Noel rolled out of the way and cast Firaga. An explosion of heat enveloped the warrior, who groaned. "So, you want a little heat? Then feel the heat of my gunfire!" he yelled, shooting another rocket. It hit the ground right in front of Noel and exploded, sending him flying through the air. "Noel!" I called, but before I could cast Salvation on him Gilgamesh turned and opened fire on me. I was shot in my left shoulder and the right side of my hip, causing me to yell and fall to one knee. Serah cast Curasa on me and fired an arrow, which Gilgamesh shot out of the air. He turned to her and aimed another rocket, but then Noel managed to stand and cast Thundaga, striking Gilgamesh with a rain of lightning.

One of the bolts actually hit the rocket launcher and destroyed it, also making the loaded rocket explode. Gilgamesh nearly fell over and just barely kept him balance, moving back. "You... I paid even more for the rocket launchers than these guns! Now you die!" he called, aiming all three of his remaining guns at Noel and firing. I cast Salvation and healed all of us, even though I remained on one knee. Serah cast Protect and Shell on Noel and the bullets bounced off of his blades, while he began slowly moving forward. Gilgamesh pointed his other rocket launcher at him and fired, but Serah shot that rocket with an arrow and caused it to explode.

I managed to stand despite having used Salvation, and charged. Gilgamesh stopped firing one of his guns at Noel and pointed it at me, but I cast Elemental Barrage and knocked away any impending bullets. I got close and jumped, swinging down and giving the warrior and large cut on two of his arms. He frowned and tried to kick me, but I twisted in mid-air and dodged it. Noel cast Vigilance on himself and charged, the spell allowing him to keep going despite having to constantly block bullets. He came close and Gilgamesh fired another rocket, but Noel cast Waterga and hit the missile with a wall of water, actually stopping the rocket and sending both it and the spell back him. Gilgamesh shouted as he was doused and hit with his own rocket, dazed.

That period of being dazed lasted just long enough for Noel to run up and hold up his sword, swinging in an X again. This time it worked, and he sliced one of Gilgamesh's gun into four parts. The warrior's eyes widened and he looked at the remains he was holding, before being hit in the chest by a Blitz arrow of Serah's. He staggered back, and looked at his weapons. "No, no, no, this just isn't working. Firearms are just too boring. I don't even feel like I'm fighting!" Gilgamesh stated, throwing his guns and rocket launcher on the ground. He stomped his foot and the ground around him glowed in six places, a different sword riding from each spot. "Close combat, yes, that's more my style!" he said, pulling out each one. There was Excalibur, Excalipoor, Masamune, Muramasa, Bashosen and Zantetsuken.

"And now, the true contest begins!" Gilgamesh declared, moving into a fighting stance. We did the same, but this time it was Gilgamesh that charged first. He swung at each of us with a different blade, and we all blocked. But then he attacked with the other half of his weaponry and we fell back, unable to block from two sides at once. Gilgamesh laughed. "I am the ultimate warrior! No one can stop me!" he said, leaping and swinging down with all six swords at once. I was hit by Excalipoor and Muramasa, draining me of health. Noel was hit by Excalibur and wounded by Zantetsuken, and Serah was inflicted Slow by Bashosen, also hit by Masamune.

Serah cast Esuna on herself and I fired Blizzaga, trying to get rid of the health taken from me. Gilgamesh swung with four of his swords, cutting the spell into eight pieces and then swinging at Serah and me with the other two. I blocked and Serah jumped away, firing. She hit him on one of his arms and he frowned. "That, my little lady, hurt! And so, this will hurt you!" he said, spinning in a circle and using Blitz. Each of his swords swung at Serah and she managed to hold her ground up until the last one, which just so happened to be Zantetsuken. It her and sent her flying with wound damage. "I'll get her!" I said, running to catch Serah while Noel charged and swung. Gilgamesh blocked each of his sword but then he jumped forward, going past his guard and stabbing him in the abdomen.

Gilgamesh responded with a kick that sent Noel skidding back around the ground. He didn't fall over though, and was able to use Mediguard and stay put when the warrior used Launch. "Well, you want to be on the defensive? Then I'll go offensive!" Gilgamesh said, swinging with Bashosen, Muramasa and Excalipoor. Even though he was drained and inflicted with Slow, the good part was that Excalipoor inflicted 1 point of damage. Which, in this case, was an injury about the size of a paper cut. I caught Serah just before she hit the ground and she nodded her thanks, getting on her feet. She ran towards Gilgamesh and began firing arrows as she ran, while I followed. Gilgamesh deflected most of them but two made it through, one hitting on the arm while another shot him in the ribs.

He charged at Serah and used Blitz and Launch in succession, sending her back into the air. This time she was ready though, and while she was in the air she flipped over and fired. Not expecting that, Gilgamesh's didn't block quickly enough and ended up with a two arrows in his right thigh while another got him on his left knee. Considering it was a shot to the knee the warrior couldn't move away. Instead he stabbed Excalibur into the ground and grabbed the arrow, yanking it out and tossing it and me. I blocked it and Serah landed on her feet, charging her bow to sword form and fighting. Gilgamesh used his free hand to sent her a huge left hook, but she ducked under and cut him on that arm. Gilgamesh frowned and grabbed his sword again, swinging at her with it and Masamune.

She blocked and I ran behind Gilgamesh, casting Ruinga. But he must have sensed it coming, because he used Blitz and spun in a circle, knocking my spell away. Then he held up all six of his swords and stopped moving, his body glowing red and he activated Vendetta. With the enemy wide open Noel charged and cast Thundaga and Aeroga, hitting Gilgamesh with lightning bolts and hurricane-force wind. Serah shot a dozen arrows and then used Froststrike and Flamestrike, and I cast Quake and Waterga. Gilgamesh held his ground and stood there, actually smiling a little. We kept attacking and trying to knock him down, scoring several good hits even if we didn't. Serah even aimed and used Ultima Arrow, pelting the warrior with shots from above.

Then Gilgamesh finished Vendetta, and said "Okay, now for real action! Enhance Power!" His body glowed gold as he was bestowed with a permanent Bravery, Faith and Haste, and he charged. His speed was increased to such a point that when he swung at Serah she could barely block it, and his strength hen he used Zantetsuken sent her to her knees. Noel tried to attack but Gilgamesh swung at him with Bashosen and Excalibur. He was inflicted with Slow, and now the difference in speed was such that he couldn't even block before he was hit with Excalipoor and a kick to the gut, the second sending him upwards.

Then Gilgamesh moved back and cast Death Claw, hitting us with a red spiral that also inflicted Imperil and Wound. I grunted and cast Esuna on Serah, and cast it on Noel who in turn healed me. Gilgamesh leaped at us and used Cross Slash swinging with three swords from each side and sending out a giant X of energy. I blocked but even then was sent back across the ground, while Noel was knocked onto his back and Serah fell to one knee. "Oh yeah, you three are going down!" Gilgamesh called, charging again. He used Blitz, Launch and then Blitz again in succession, and then swung at each of us again. I was hit by both Excalibur and Excalipoor, while Noel blocked Zantetsuken and Muramasa and Serah was struck by Masamune and Bashosen.

I frowned. Now that he had used Enhance Power Gilgamesh was stronger than ever, and he knew it. Just as I began to think of a way to win he jumped back and began swinging his swords around. I recognized the gesture and had just enough time to say "Sentinel! NOW!" We managed to do that not a millisecond before Gilgamesh unleashed Divider. He moved faster than the eyes could follow, and hit each of us six times in rapid succession, ending the combo with an explosion of power that also inflicted Daze. We all fell back but couldn't heal ourselves, and Gilgamesh used the opportunity to use Cross Slash and Launch back to back.

The barrage did get rid of our Daze status, but Noel was sent upwards while Serah could barely move from all the sword cuts on her body. I was much the same, and I knew that if I cast Salvation now it would drain enough of my energy that I would black out. Gilgamesh showed no sign and letting up, and swung at me with three swords at once. I blocked all of them and cast Curaja, healing us all somewhat. But then Gilgamesh hit me with Eerie Soundwave, inflicting Pain, Fog, Imperil and Curse. I couldn't attack, and Noel landed back on the ground and cast Curaja as well, doing so over and over. The various cuts on all of our body partially healed, and Serah gained enough strength to stand and help. I pulled a Unicorn Horn out of my pocket and used it, relieving us all of debuffs.

"Oh, you're not getting away like that!" Gilgamesh called, using Bashosen and Excalibur on me. My movements were slowed and I was hit with Launch, sending me up while Serah and Noel blocked against a double attack of Blitz. I tried to think of a way to get through Gilgamesh's defenses and deal some damage, when I saw him hit Serah with Excalipoor and the tiniest of cracks appeared in the blade. I blinked, realizing what that meant. Gilgamesh might be ready to keep going, but sooner or later his swords wouldn't be able to handle this much intense use. Getting an idea, I called "Guys! Target your attacks on his swords!" Serah and Noel were about to look at me when Gilgamesh struck again, and just nodded. Serah cast Fira three times and hit the Excalipoor, heating up the metal of the sword. Then Noel cooled it down with Waterga, causing the metal to contract somewhat.

Not noticing, Gilgamesh swung with Excalibur and Masamune at Serah, who rolled out of the way and fired an arrow at Excalipoor. It hit and the blade rung from the blow, vibrating. Gilgamesh moved away and cast Death Claw again, but I cast Esuna on all of us. The warrior tried hitting me with Eerie Soundwave but missed, and I cast Destrudo. A volley of energy orbs hit Excalipoor and the crack widened, going halfway across the blade. Gilgamesh saw it and realized our plan, saying "Nice idea, but not gonna happen!" He moved away and swung his swords again, and this time we were able to use Entrench before he unleashed Divider.

We were still hit with Daze, but the damage was less intense and we were still guarding when Gilgamesh used Cross Slash on us. I smirked, and when the Entrench came to an end Indomitus glowed. I charged and jumped swinging at Excalipoor and unleashing a regular attack made stronger by all the damage I received while guarding. The crack grew even larger and spread, and when Serah and Noel did the same the sword finally broke, the blade breaking off. Gilgamesh stopped and stared at the stump in his hand, that lapse allowing Noel to jump and use Meteor Javelin. Gilgamesh was hit in the center of his chest and fell back, hit again and again.

He retaliated with a flurry of blows from all five of his remaining swords, but Serah fired an arrow at the gap in his defense left by Excalipoor's destruction. The shot actually hit him in the wrist of the arm holding Muramasa, causing him to shout and drop the blade. Now he was down to four sword, and used Cross Slash at Serah. She was hit with the brunt of the attack and fell back, but Noel cast Cure on her and swung at Gilgamesh. He blocked with Bashosen and Masamune, attacking with Zantetsuken and Excalibur. Noel moved away to dodge the blows and I came up from behind, using Energy Arc. Gilgamesh block one of the bands of power with a different blade, kicking at me. I side-stepped to avoid the blow, but then he used Blitz and actually knocked Indomitus out of my hands.

My eye widened and Gilgamesh laughed, saying "Now I'm not the only ones who's lost a weapon. Luckily for me, I have more!" To prove his point he swung at me with Excalibur, and I had to roll out of the way. Before I could grab Indomitus Gilgamesh put himself between it and me, swinging. I retreated, and Serah fired another arrow. Gilgamesh blocked it and replied with Death Claw, hitting us again. I remembered something and said "Serah, Noel, when I say now, charge and just keep attacking." "Got it," Noel replied, while Serah nodded. I nodded and pulled back the sleeve of my coat, exposing my mark. It glowed and I called "Absolute Protection!" A dome of crystallized light appeared around Serah and Noel while I was hit with Deprotect, Deshell, Imperil and Curse. "Okay, now!" I said.

The two of them nodded and charged, and Gilgamesh swung at them. But whenever one of their blades struck the domes it simply bounced or slid off, not even making a dent. "What in the-?" Gilgamesh began, before Serah shot him in the leg and Noel stabbed his smaller sword into one of his arms. Gilgamesh glared at them and tried to use Cross Slash, but that was just as ineffective. "Why will none of my moves work?!" he demanded, but then he saw that I was just standing there. He quickly put two and two together, and said "You! If I get rid of you, I can take care of these two!" He barreled past the two of them and came for me, and I activated Mediguard.

Even so, I still took a considerable amount of damage due to the Deprotect status, and the Mediguard wasn't regenerating my health fast enough. Serah and Noel followed him and attacked from behind, forcing Gilgamesh to turn and block them while also attacking me. I nodded at them thankfully, and I held up my hand. Focusing, I willed Indomitus to vanish and reappear in my hand. It was harder being attacked and guarding at the same time, but after a few seconds the sword appearing with a burst of blue and silver flames. I smirked, calling "Noel!" and tossing it to him. He put his smaller sword away and caught it, and while I was guarding he jumped.

"It's over!" he called, swung with both swords. Gilgamesh blocked him with Excalibur, but actually cut through the blade, destroying it and slashing the warrior across the chest. He feel back and Serah shot him in the side with a Ruinga-charged arrow, causing it to explode. Gilgamesh faltered and Noel flipped Indomitus over in his hand, stabbing it into the warrior's arm holding Zantetsuken. He was forced to drop it and tried to pull my sword out, but then Serah cast Firaga and hit him with a wave of heat. Gilgamesh jumped away and began backing away from us, pulling Indomitus out and tossing it to the side. Serah and Noel pursued him, and Serah poured her strength into a single arrow which she fired, piercing Masamune and shattering it.

Now all he had left were Muramasa and Bashosen, and I released the Absolute Protection spell and summoned Indomitus back to me. I joined Serah and Noel in one final charge, and while Serah blocked Muramasa and I blocked Bashosen, Noel jumped in font of Gilgamesh. He tried using his free hands to grab him, but Noel cast Thundaga and hit him with electricity, causing his muscles to lock up. With that done he combined his sword into a javelin, saying "This is it!" and throwing it. The weapon hit Gilgamesh and went right into his heart, staying there. Gilgamesh cried out in pain, saying "NOOO!" he fell back and dropped his remaining weapons. "How could I, the ultimate warrior, be defeated?! Did I not use the right weapons?" he said. He fell to his hands and knees, breathing heavily. It was over.

(End Music)

I shook my head, placing Indomitus on my back. "No, you just weren't strong enough," I said. Blood began leaking from around the javelin in his heart, and Gilgamesh stared me. "Then I'll get stronger, and find even better techniques and weapons to fight with. One of these days, we will meet again," he declared. I was silent for a moment, before nodding and saying "I'll be waiting." Gilgamesh nodded and the dark mist that was the Chaos rose from the ground, enveloping him. After a few seconds it dissipated, showing that the great warrior was gone. Noel's javelin fell to the ground with a clatter, and he picked it up. "That... was a tough fight," was all he said. I laughed breathlessly, and said "Yeah, well, the good thing is that we only have one more opponent left, apart from the Arbiter himself."

"Well, let's get some rest, and then we'll see who it is, huh?" Serah suggested. We all agreed and sat near the edge of the arena. If our next opponent was anything like Gilgamesh, I was not looking forward to it.

The mighty Gilgamesh has been defeated, but can our heroes conquer their next opponent? We all who it will be, and know that the battle will be epic! (Oh, and you know that part about Gilgamesh sounding like Bender? It's true; they have the same voice actor.)

Please review! If you flame me Liam Neeson will look for you, he will find you, and he will kill you. (I'm just kidding... or am I?)
