Lily POV
I was sitting with Arabella and Dylan anxiously going over plans again. I dragged my hand along the map of the camp showing where demigods would be placed.
"Wait, remind me again why Percy and Ben are going to be placed by the lake? Percy is one of our best swordsmen and Ben is our best strategist." Arabella questioned.
I rolled my eyes and clenched my jaw. "Because both of their wives are pregnant. We don't need to have unborn children losing fathers today."
"You mean besides mine," Arabella mumbled under her breath and placed her hand on her stomach.
Dylan sighed. "If there was another way, we would have figured it out. You said Ben is our best strategist, but you're wrong. Lily Jackson is our best strategist. She is the product of love between two sworn enemies' children. If she could stop the outcome of killing her brother, I know she would." He gave me a nob and I felt relieved. After all these weeks of planning and betrayal, he still believed in me.
However, I wish Dylan was correct, but he was wrong. I didn't want Luke to live through this to see his child, I wanted him to die. He put me in a position to have my child be born dead. He killed Allie's son. He killed my sister and kept her in ghost form to torment her. He kept Allie from camp. He worked with evil forces to do evil things. He needed to be stopped.
Arabella nodded. "I know he's a bad guy. I know it. Just, sometimes he didn't seem so bad. If he did, I wouldn't be in love with him."
I was about to respond when Arabella's eyes went wide. She grabbed her abdomen and leaned forward in her chair. She gasped. "Hey, are you okay?" I asked eyebrows raised.
She nodded. "I just need a glass of water." She started to stand up but Dylan tried to stop her.
"I got it. Just sit down." He said.
Arabella continued to protest, but right as she stood up a gush of water trickled down her legs. She closed her eyes and sighed in defeat.
"Please tell me you just peed your pants and not what I think that was," Dylan said concerned.
"It's what you think it was. My water just broke." Almost in perfect unison, the conch horn blue signifying the arrival of Luke's army.
"Oh my gods," Arabella answered in response to the noise. She looked up at the ceiling. "Seriously, now?!"
Dylan and I started to get our amour on. Once we got our gear on, I blew on my sapphire ring and it grew into a sword. I looked over and saw Arabella still standing over her broken water in a daze. I went over and approached her.
I whispered so Dylan couldn't hear. "If you don't want to do this, you don't have to. I know it'll endanger you and the baby. I could understand if you want to back out."
Immediately Arabella shook her head. "No, I want to do this. I have to do this. If I want any life for my child and myself I can't not do this."
I nodded. "Okay, go and wait. You'll know what to do when it's time." She nodded and rushed out.
Finally, Dylan got his amour on. "Where did she go off to?" He asked not knowing of the plan.
"She's just going to a safe, or I guess just safer spot until this is all over. C'mon, let's go."
Dylan and I started to run towards the front lines so we could greet the upcoming army. As we were heading there, I saw my dad run past alone towards the lake. I turned around quickly.
"Where's Ben?" I asked.
My dad smiled. "He decided to try and scout by the cave in the woods. I'll be fine," he answered before I even asked the question. Percy ran off before I could even say goodbye. But it wouldn't have to be goodbye. Everything would work out, I knew it would.
The army of camp half-blood had already started to form. When Dylan and I arrived, they cleared a path right down the middle for us to walk through. We came to the front of the crowd and I could slightly see the approaching army in the distance. We stood in silence waiting. Just then, Dylan cleared his throat very obnoxiously. I turned around and realized everyone was staring intensely at me like they were waiting for something.
I leaned over to Dylan and whispered. "What are they waiting for?"
He whispered back. "A speech, a salutation, anything. You're our leader. Give a rousing speech. Some of these people will die today so this may be the last thing they ever here."
I nodded and turned to face the awaiting crowd. I swallowed. I have always been standing in my parents' footsteps, but not today. This day would determine my future. It would determine my legacy. This was it.
"I honestly don't' know what to say," I began. "Some of us are going to die today all because of my ruthless brother. He used to be one of us, but now he is one of them. We will fight with honor and dignity. We will win this battle." I swallowed again, feeling the emotion in the air. Dylan nodded at me in encouragement. I continued. "My grandparents are Poseidon and Athena, an unlikely pair. I have the best qualities of both in me, yet they fight all the time. If somewhere along the way in the gods' history these two kindly share a grandchild and support their children's' marriage, we can change the course of this history. We can win this."
A roar came up from the crowd. It made me feel good for a moment until I could not only see but hear the approaching army. From what I saw, we were outnumbered 5 to 1. As much as my speech implied, I had no idea how we were going to win this war.
"Hey Lily," Dylan inquired.
"What?" I said turning around. In that moment, he grabbed my face and kissed me. It was a powerful kiss that made me almost lose track of time. Once he finally let go he said.
"You got this. I love you," he smiled but then drew his sword ready.
"I love you too," I responded. Just then the army was at a speaking distance and they stopped.
Sitting up front on a black, ghostly horse was my brother Luke. He sat straight up with his sword, Backbiter, at his side. He addressed up.
"Hello sister, this is your last chance. Will you surrender?" He asked with a smirk on his face.
I retorted back in a low, definitive voice. "Never."
"So be it. Blood will be shed. Most of the campers will die and we will be rulers. Let it begin, but first," Luke stopped and pointed his sword right at me. "No one touches her. I get to kill her."
That's when the final battle began.
Hey guys! I hoped you liked it! I really like writing it for you. Please review! The more reviews I get, the more likely I am to be encouraged to write another chapter! I have so many ideas as we are nearing the end of this tale (although we still have a bit to go!). However, if you have any suggestions let me know! I might not take them but they might spark an idea. Again please review. Thanks!
