ARC 54: Those who foresaw the Tragedy! The Two Signers Prepare for the Future!
That night, Melody tossed and turned in her bed, her mind racing. Her dreams troubled, thinking back to that fateful day two years ago…
"Are you okay?" Melody asked the young man she saw before her. She saw the red glow on his arm and held up her own. "You have this mark too don't you?" The young man looked at her through narrowed eyes and said nothing, his teeth gritting against the pain. "It's okay, it won't hurt for long."
"How….do you...know?" he asked sinking to his knees.
"Because the first time it appears seems to hurt like hell, and after a few seconds it fades away."
"This mark….what is it?"
"From what I understand, it's the mark of the Crimson Dragon." Melody said kneeling next to him.
"The Crimson Dragon? But that cannot be, the Dark Signers, Yliaster, both were obliterated by the last generation of Signers, Team 5D's."
"I have heard of Team 5D's," Melody said placing an arm on his shoulder. "Rumor has it, the current King, Jack Atlas is the same one who was in it."
"Interesting." the youth said shrugging away from her touch and getting back to his feet, his arm no longer twinging. "Jack Atlas lacks a counterpart in this Dimension, yet Crow Hogan, another Signer does not."
"Crow Hogan? You mean the Common who uses Blackwings?"
"Yeah, in my dimension, which is known as Standard; Crow Hogan is an older man, works for Sector Security in Neo Domino City and was once a part of Team 5D's and a Signer himself."
"Interesting. So the rumors of other dimensions are true. That makes sense, as the current head of Security here is rumored to be from one known as 'Yugo'."
"I think you mean Fusion."
"Yeah that one."
"What's your name?" He asked suddenly throwing her off.
"Melody. Melody Mizuki. And yours?"
"Marowl-fuck it, I don't need a cover name with you I can tell. Call me Quincy. Quincy Mokey."
"Why not?"
"A gut feeling, you have a mark of the Crimson Dragon as you yourself put it. Do you know what that means, or only what it is called?"
"Sadly only what is called. There is a small part in our history books about the Crimson Dragon and it's mark, but that is about it." Melody crossed her arms and shook her head. "Just a collection of images, and a description incredibly brief."
"I see."
"But how did you know so much about it?" Melody asked, her investigative instincts kicking in. "Before you had no clue what it was."
"Because my arm suddenly started glowing and hurting like hell. I highly doubt I would remember something like that in such a scenario as it was unlikely to occur. I was more worried that some asshole had shot me or something."
"And why were you walking around at night?"
"Simple, couldn't sleep, constant nightmares and a weird voice in my ears the whole time. I wanted to clear my head."
"These nightmares," Melody began calmly, "Did it involve six orbs of light turning into darkness? And a large dragon? And did your arm hurting wake you up?"
"How did you guess?" Quincy asked clearly impressed. "Especially the details of the dream."
"I've had the same dream. As well as a different one." Melody said softly, wondering why she felt compelled to share with this strange younger boy, and why she felt she could trust him. "It starts the same way, the six orbs of light turn into darkness, then the earth shakes, and large eldritch abominations surge forth from the earth and blot out the sun, people cry out in terror and fear. Then six red lights appear alongside the six dark orbs and shatter them, taking their place, the abominations then sink into the earth." She took a deep breath, the vividness of her dream filling her mind as she put it to words. "I have had this same dream for years now. I have no clue what it means, or if my mind is just obsessing with it."
Quincy remained quiet for a few minutes nodding to himself. "Melody, fate seems to have brought us together this night." He turned to regard her carefully. "Your dream perplexes me as well, but I know what we might want to do."
"And that is?"
"Find the other four who bear this mark by all means possible."
"But how?"
"I have no clue. Maybe we can influence even slightly whom the dragon choses. Any Duelist who catches your eye, challenge them to a duel, push them, see if the mark manifests on them. That;s all I got. From what I understand it's how Godwin tried to find the Signers twenty years ago in my dimension. It somehow worked."
"That;s awfully vague." Melody said softly to herself.
"It may be, but, I feel like it's our best lead. I mean, the Crimson Dragon brought us here together, or appears to have influenced us to do so, maybe it wants us to find the other Signers. In fact, I have a suggestion for you, Melody."
"I'm listening." She said simply.
"There is a Duelist I brought to this dimension earlier today, his name is Ruxki Maltox. Take him under your wing. He is powerful, he might be able to awaken as a Signer."
"Fine then. By the way, why do you suppose we find the others?"
"The dreams, the nightmares, and in my case premonitions of encroaching doom in the coming future over the past year,it seems to point to something big. Something horrific even."
"So, better say than sorry?"
"Yes."
"In that case, I have a suggestion for you as well Quincy." Melody said pulling out her D-Pad and hitting a few keys. "About half a year ago this young man appeared in the streets here, no home to speak of, he currently lives with the orphans Rin and Yugo. HIs name is Haruki, and he claims to be from another place, he's also friendly with this dimensions Crow. I think he MIGHT be one of those you speak of with potential."
"Understood." Quincy said walking away. "By the way, you need to work on your subtly officer, I know a badge when I see one, even if it is inside your shirt."
"I'm not on duty, nor am I hear as a member of Security."
"Sure you weren't originally." Quincy said laughing. "Go ahead and report me if you want or need too to appease Roget, just give me a warning first so I can escape." He tossed a card behind him as he walked away. "If you need to reach me, all the info is in that card."
Melody watched him leave as her mark faded and her head which had been in a slight haze from the subtle pain suddenly cleared. "Oh man, I got myself into something troublesome it looks like." She bent down to pick up the card-
RRRIIIIIINNNNNG
Melody woke with a yawn as she shut off her alarm clock and stretched. "Okay, Duel Academy, here I come." She muttered to herself as she began to change.
