AN- So I've just started Sixth form, which at the moment just feels like a whole lot of free time (Over four hours on Wednesday and absolutely nothing to do.) I'm sure that will change soon enough though.

I would have updated yesterday but my jaw was swollen shut and I couldn't concentrate too well. It felt as though someone was hitting my face with a hammer. Anyway hope you enjoy.

Disclaimer- I do not own Twilight.

Jasper's POV

When I walked out from the bathroom in a fresh set of clothes, Alice was lying on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Her eyes were dazed in what I first thought was a vision but when she didn't pull herself out of it a few seconds later, I started to worry.

I knelt on the bed and leaned over her, she didn't visibly respond, like she was lost in her thoughts. I touched her cheek softly to bring her back to me and she gasped and shot up into a sitting position, blinking rapidly.

I caught hold of her and kept her still, purring against her temple. She panicked for a couple of seconds before she sighed and relaxed into my arms. "Hey." I said softly, rubbing her back. "What's wrong? What did you see?" I asked.

I felt her fingers wind into the back of my shirt and she nuzzled against me. "Thunderstorm." She murmured.

I looked outside at the darkening sky and realised she was right. "We're in the house Sweetheart, you're safe." I reassured her.

"I can feel it Jazz, I can feel it getting closer." I lifted her into my lap and I could sense the fear welling up inside her

I tried my best to put her at ease but I'd never be able to quell the fear completely. I turned her head towards me. "What can you feel?" I asked.

"My head is pounding" She whimpered, rubbing at her face in distress. I pulled her hands away and replaced them with my own, rubbing her temples gently. She let her head rest against my chest and closed her eyes, I let my chin run over the top of her head to comfort her. "My ears are ringing." She murmured, her discomfort clear in her tone.

I frowned, it was like she was having phantom symptoms of her shock treatments. I reached back and pressed a few buttons so that the box on her dressing table started to play some music, maybe it would distract her, drown out the ringing in her ears.

She laughed softly despite herself. "Did you just figure out how to work the iPod?" She asked.

I smirked and pulled her up. "Don't criticise my technology knowledge." She stumbled slightly so I held her against me until she regained her footing. She held onto my shoulders, leaning against me.

I swayed us from side to side to take her mind off the coming storm. "What technology knowledge?" She smirked. "Have you even heard of the internet?"

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion "The inter-what?"

She laughed quietly and reached up on her toes to press her lips to my jaw. "You're too good to me, you know that right?" She whispered.

I twirled her under my arm slowly and placed my hand in the right position for us to dance. "You deserve it." I smiled.

"You're being very affectionate lately." She pointed out, nuzzling my chest. I just smiled. Talking with Peter had cleared my head, knowing that I was wrong about not loving Alice, knowing I was capable of loving her. It was a huge weight off my shoulders and I was in was in an exceptionally good mood because of it, Peter always said I got all mushy when I was in a good mood.

I lifted her and spun us around. It was just a shame that she was in pain and that her mood would plummet as soon as the lightning started. "How long do we have until the storm hits?" I asked.

She smiled sadly. "An hour and a half, maybe two."

I twirled her under my arm again and dipped her low. "We should make the most of it." I said softly and brushed my lips against hers.

"Perhaps we should." She laughed.

However as the hour drew closer I could see it was taking its toll on Alice.

She winced and stumbled slightly, so I stopped moving and pulled her against me for support. Her fingers wound around the fabric of my shirt and I let her lean against my chest. "We should stop, you're hurting." I said quietly

She shook her head and reached over to change the music. "I don't want to think about it yet, just don't let me go." She put her hand in mine and I wrapped an arm across her back.

"You're so stubborn." I scolded. We weren't really ones for slow dancing but we managed a slow waltz without much difficulty.

She sighed softly and tilted her head to press her lips to mine. She hummed softly and smiled. "That takes the pain away." She breathed. "I told you it was an effective distraction technique."

I chuckled and kissed her back gently. "I'd be happy to distract you." She shoved me playfully but feebly, and toppled over her own feet. I caught her and lifted her into my arms.

"You really need to sit down."

"I'm fine here." She said lightly, wrapping her arms around the back of my neck and playing with my hair I leaned down and kissed her, something I was happy to do if it stopped her head hurting.

It was only then that I felt a different set of emotions spike, and sensed another person in the room. "Alice." I tried to warn, and pulled away and set her down. She whined in protest and reached up on her toes to kiss me again. "Alice, you have a visitor." I mumbled awkwardly against her lips.

She spun around with inhuman speed. "Esme!" She stuttered. I looked down nervously, I knew her family had to find out sooner or later, but having one of them walk in on us wasn't exactly how I planned it.

Esme was grinning from ear to ear. "Sorry." She apologised. "I just thought I'd check on you before the storm, but it seems that you're in good company." She laughed. You could tell she wanted to say more, but was trying to maintain her mature demeanour.

Alice shook her head. "We were going to tell you." She said hurriedly.

Esme held up her hand to silence her. "I'm happy for you." She smiled. "Both of you." I couldn't help but laugh, her emotions indicated that she was a lot more than happy. Luckily she decided not to embarrass us further and turned to leave. "So I trust you'll be okay up here during the storm." Concern replaced the happiness. "You will let Jasper stay with you, won't you?" She asked.

She nodded her expression glum, I placed my hands on her waist and calmed her down slightly. "Can I try staying downstairs?" She asked hesitantly

Esme was shocked but also strangely relieved at her question. "Of course you can." She said softly. "Is there anything I can do to make you more comfortable?" She asked.

Alice shook her head. "We'll treat it as a normal night, a movie night or something." She laughed quietly. "Fill the living room with pointless pillows and blankets, maybe a pack of cards and a chess board?"

Esme smiled at her and nodded. "Okay, do you need any help getting down stairs?" She checked.

Alice smirked. "You get the blankets, Jasper will help me." That overwhelming happiness washed over me again and Esme watched us for a few seconds before opening the door. "Esme!" Alice called quickly and she turned back towards us. "You won't say anything will you, about..." She trailed off and glanced up at me shyly.

"No, I'll leave that to you." She hesitated before adding. "Don't keep it hidden for too long, It will be better if Edward hears it in words rather than thoughts." Alice nodded and with that Esme left

Alice's POV

I was curled up on the couch beside Jasper, tucking my legs beneath me me letting my head fall against his shoulder. I was vaguely aware of Rose and Emmett bickering over which film to watch, but tried to focus on the calm Jasper was sending me as well as the soothing circles he was tracing on the small of my back.

He purred softly against the side of my head, easing my pounding headache and distracting me from that high pitched ringing. Esme must have said something to the rest of the family since I could tell they were trying too hard to act normal. Carlisle and Esme were cuddled up together on the opposite couch but both of them were keeping a close watch on me. As for the rest of them, their eyes kept darting back towards me. I closed my eyes and turned my head against Jasper's shoulder to breathe in his scent.

This was what I'd been craving all these decades, companionship. Being able to sit this close to someone and feel completely at ease.

There was a loud thump against the outside window ledge and I screamed in shock and clung to Jasper's arms. He lowered his head to my level sending more calm towards me and speaking to me without words.

"Jacob!" Nessie giggled happily. I turned around to see the giant russet wolf with his muzzle pulled back over his teeth and his tongue lolled out to the side. His fur was dripping wet and his ears were pinned back flat against his skull. He jumped down and a few seconds later there was a loud scratch at the door.

"Jacob Black, keep those dirty paws off my carpet!" Esme warned and flitted off, probably in search of towels and fresh clothes, Nessie followed after her hurriedly.

He walked in five minutes later, his hair still dripping with rain water. "One thing worse than that awful dog smell... Wet dog smell." Rose spat in disgust. Jacob shook his head quickly in her direction, showering her in rain water. " Rosalie glared at him and threw one of the pillows at him forcefully. "Watch it mutt!"

He smirked mischievously at her before turning to me. "Sorry for scaring you Alice." He smiled. I glared at him and he frowned. "So this is the thanks I get for coming early to stop your visions."

I looked up at him in shock. "You came for me?"

He frowned. "Course I did, you scream less when I'm here apparently, I figured not having your visions helped." He explained. "Half the lightning, Edward says." He was right, before Jacob I got visions of each lightning strike as well as the strike itself.

"Jacob has visited during every storm since after Nessie was born." Esme explained.

I was sort of speechless at that. "Thank you... But how...?" I trailed off.

"I'm an animal Alice, I can feel a storm coming, that and Edward saw it in your mind and called me." He shrugged with a smirk.

"Thank you." I said again.

"Hey Jake." Emmett held up two films. "Comedy or action?"

Jacob glanced between Rose and Emmett warily. "Whatever Blondie wants, she's about ready to pounce." He laughed.

It was about twenty minutes into the movie when the first strike of lightning made the ceiling glow with electric light. I whimpered and cowered backwards. Jasper's hands rubbed up and down my arms in comfort and I felt his breath on the back of my neck. "Shhhhh." He soothed above the thunder. I was hyper aware of everyone's eyes on me and I hated it.

Jasper took hold of my hand and pressed it against his chest, breathing deeply. I matched my breaths to his and felt him reach back and draw the curtains shut to block the flashes. The thunder still filled the room and the light still creeped through the gaps in the fabric but it wasn't as bad. I felt everyone's gaze flick back to me periodically, waiting for me to snap.

I didn't want to be like this, constantly on edge, it was mentally exhausting. I wanted to overcome this, I wanted to be able to go out and play baseball with the rest of the family. I didn't want to worry Esme, or make Jacob feel as though he had to drop everything to come and block my visions every time there was a storm.

I remembered the last storm I was caught in, the way Jasper had made me watch the lightning so that it would scare me less, and rearranged myself on the couch so that I was facing the window. I pulled back the curtain ever so slightly and peered around to look up at the night sky.

They were all watching me carefully, but thankfully Jasper tried to pretend he wasn't gauging my every move. I closed my eyes, letting the light flash through the film of my eyelids and bit my lip to keep the whimpers at bay. I stayed like that until the effect of the lightning dimmed and the terror dissipated slightly

I chanced opening my eyes, determined to watch this strike, but took on too much too soon. I screamed without consciously deciding too and backed as far away from the window as possible. I saw hands reach out for me and unexplainable panic gripped me. I growled and lashed out at the hands to keep them away from me.

"Darlin' you're alright." I blinked rapidly, recognising Jasper's voice and realising I'd growled at him and lashed out as he'd reached for me. I also realised that I'd somehow managed to fall from the couch and onto the floor. I looked down at the carpet, bewildered for a second, then laughed quietly despite myself.

I tried to get up but felt my legs give way and Jasper catch me before I fell down again. He lifted me and tried to place me back on the couch but I gripped his shoulders so he had to sit me on his lap. I could feel his nerves and see him look around anxiously at everyone so I turned his head closer to mine and nuzzled his cheek in reassurance.

I pulled back slightly, my lips hovering over his. He'd been wonderful to me tonight, I was a nervous wreck yes, but I was coping. I leaned closer...

"Alice." He murmured, watching me closely. I had to admit, I'd forgotten we weren't alone.

I pulled back completely and turned to see all eyes on us rather than the screen, I looked away awkwardly and hid my face against his shoulder, hoping they'd forget what I'd just nearly done. I should have known I'd have no such luck.

"Hang on, was that what I thought it was?" Emmett piped up, a teasing tone laced in his voice.

"Of course it was." Rosalie smirked.

At the same time Edward said "Don't be stupid."

They glanced at each other before turning to us. Jasper sent me some uncertainty so I reassured him, they would have to find out sooner or later. "Edward..." I trailed off.

Bella grinned happily and I was sure that there were similar expressions on everyone else's faces, but I looked evenly at Edward to gauge his reaction. 'He makes me happy' I told him mentally. Pleading with my eyes, it was important to me that I had Edward's approval.

"I know." He said smiling slightly, there was something in his expression that I couldn't quite decipher "Just don't let me see what you do with him, please." He smirked, the expression gone. "I've had it bad enough with those two." He waved a hand towards Rosalie and Emmett.

I scoffed "At least you can travel out of range, no matter where I go I'm stuck watching whenever you or Emmett decide to have some 'alone time' with your mates." I shuddered, there were parts of my brothers I just didn't want to see.

That said, some situations were worth seeing, especially now I could see the humour in them. I smirked at him. "I can't believe you made Bella faint." I giggled.

Edward and Bella's eyes widened "Alice!" They complained in unison.

"Wait, what's she talking about?" Emmett smirked, he could tell there was some quality gossip just around the corner.

"Their first kiss, Bella practically jumped him, second time he kissed her she fainted." I laughed, Emmett and Jacob joined me. Bella covered her face in her hands and Edward glared at me. "I'm your little sister, it's my job to torment you." I said innocently.

I felt Jasper's shoulders shake beneath me with laughter. However, there was a spark of mischief in Edward's eyes. "Hey Alice, your apartment in Mississippi, what name was it under again?" I gasped and shook my head at him rapidly. "Oh I remember, Alice Whitlock wasn't it?" I felt shock come from Jasper and daren't look back at him

"Whitlock?" Rosalie asked.

"Jasper's last name." He smirked and turned towards me. "Got a bit ahead of yourself there, didn't you?"

I scowled at him. "I didn't understand the concept back then." I mumbled. "I just knew I would need a last name to rent the room, I only knew Whitlock and Cullen."

He smirked at my flustered expression, unfortunately he wasn't the only one that found it amusing. I could feel Jasper's amusement. "I don't know what your grinning at." I said without looking back at Jasper. "1925." He stiffened. "Just how much lust did you let loose on that newborn army?" I laughed, Edward scoffed.

"Peter made me do that!" He defended quickly.

"Oh you were just as curious Jazz, and it was you they tried to seduce in the end, I was entertained for weeks." I smiled cheekily at him. "His and Peter's juvenile days." I explained to the rest of the family. "What was it you told that newborn? 'You're a delightfully controlled vampire'..."

"But it would never work between us." Jasper murmured in embarrassment.

"He was rather disappointed." I giggled.

"He!" Emmett howled in amusement.

"Alright, alright!" Jasper muttered with a scowl.

The laughter died down and we eased back into comfortable silence. I settled back against Jasper's chest, holding his hand in mine and circling my thumb over his knuckles gently. "Alice." Carlisle said a couple of minutes later. "There's been seven lightning strikes and you haven't reacted to any of them.

I watched him closely to check he was telling the truth and there was a reassuring smile on his face, I was shocked to find he was right.

The evening continued like that, playing film after film and eventually the storm stopped. My headache eased and the ringing in my ears ceased so I cuddled closer to Jasper enjoying the calm emotions he was emitting.

He nuzzled the top of my head softly and wrapped his arms lightly around my waist to hold me to him. We sent emotions back and forth for a while until I felt him grow tired and lay his head against the back of the couch. I was so pleased that he could be so relaxed around everyone now, he was improving so much.

"Alice?" Edward said softly a minute later and nodded towards. "Is he alright?" I frowned, unsure what he meant, and pulled back to look up at Jasper.

His eyes were closed and his head was lolled to the side against the back of the couch. He wasn't relaxed, he was practically unconscious, if that was even possible. "Jazz?" I touched his cheek and turned his head towards me. "Jasper?" He didn't visibly respond but the only emotions I could feel running across his skin were calm and peaceful.

I turned to Carlisle who had moved closer in concern. "He's just really relaxed." I said in confusion.

Carlisle seemed to go into doctor mode. "How do you feel?" He asked, looking between the two of us. Perhaps he though this was something to do with that extra sensitive connection.

"Calm now the storm is over." I said, starting to worry. What was wrong?

"And you can't hear him?" He asked Edward, who furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head. Carlisle frowned and moved to sit by his side. "Jasper? Can you hear me." He placed a hand gently on his forearm. When Jasper still didn't respond I felt the panic start to overwhelm me. He didn't like other people touching him... He hated it.

No matter how low the odds were I couldn't help but feel like I was losing him... Again.
