Chapter 54
Thank you to all who have followed and reviewed this story it means a lot to me.
Location: BAU
Time: 15.04 (Three years later)
The team had been away for a full week as they tried to catch the unsub, things hadn't gone well, the death toll was one of the highest they had, had on a case, they were deflated each of them had been ripped apart inside, Emily had taken a bad beating and Morgan wasn't much better off.
Out of all the team members those two always seemed to come worst off, they made their way into the bullpen each one with a heavy heart, each one waiting to go home each one needing comfort something that would make them smile, make them see that there is good in the world.
Garcia was still around she too was broken, none of them had seen anything like this, children butchered like animals, teenagers beaten within an inch of their lives, the pictures haunted her.
The blank expression Emily and Morgan both wore was the same haunted, they had been the ones to come across the bodies they had seen the full force of what this person was capable of.
Morgan had rubbed Emily's back as she heaved outside the crime scene, for once she didn't care if it was professional or not, if the sight hadn't turned your stomach, made you sick or want to scream wholly hell then their truly was something wrong with them or they had become use to the lengthens people would go too.
"I think I'm getting to old for this" Emily said softly as Morgan still had his arm wrapped around her. "You and me both," Morgan sighed. They both had, had enough and this case had proved it, they would never get the images of what they saw out of their minds it was now imprinted in their minds.
Emily doubted anything would heal them, not even the loving arms of her wife could heal her from this, the pair was broken and the rest of the team wasn't much better off. But it had taken more out of Emily and Morgan than anyone and no one could dispute that.
"I could do with a drink" Emily mused. "Drink till we forget?" Morgan said, Emily gave a slight chuckle "Forget, drink until we pass out, anything to block that out" Emily said through a sigh.
They made their way into the bullpen the light from the conference cast a dim glow they could see the shadow of a person cast against the blinds. Emily frowned, her eyes focused on the shadow. "If Jordan thinks we are taking another case, you may need to restrain me" Emily ground out. "I think I might need restraining as well" Morgan grumbled.
The door to the conference room opened slightly as a small brunette child ran out the room "MAMA" Emily couldn't help the smile that over took her as her young daughter flew down the stairs into her arms. "Hey princess, what you doing here" Emily asked as she held her tight "Mommy" Emily closed her eyes, she should have known. Morgan ruffled her hair. "Hey kiddo" he said as she then flew herself at her Uncle Derek. They both took a moment before the whole team made their way into the conference room.
"Jennifer" Emily said as she walked in "Garcia told me how bad the case was" JJ said "Can I take him?" Rossi asked as he looked at the small bundle of joy in her arms. JJ wrapped her arms around Emily pulling her close as she looked at the rest of the team each one of them passing their newest member of the family around.
Garcia walked in behind them Henry glued to her side, Amy slightly behind her "I've got a bottle warmed for Adam" Garcia said as she looked at Rossi. Andrea was still wrapped in Morgan's arms, the door opened again this time producing Beth and Jack. Their whole family was together each member taking comfort of each other. Emily had yet to let go of JJ her face nuzzled into the blondes neck. Morgan gave a sad smile before turning his full attention onto Andrea.
"Shh, I've got you" JJ whispered as the rest of the team fussed over their new arrival, Amy sat with Garcia as Rossi settled the little one in his arms. Andrea with Morgan as Reid began to show the younger children a magic trick. "I needed this" Emily mumbled into JJ's neck. JJ smiled softly as she pulled her close.
