I woke up to hear Emily and Dean talking.
'I don't understand. They're going to kill us?' Emily asked as I heard banging on a door, which I assumed was Dean.
'Sacrifice us. Which is, I don't know, classier, I guess' Dean explained
'You really didn't know anything about this, did you?' Dean asked
'About what? The scarecrow god? I can't believe this' Emily cried
'Well, you better start believe, because I'm going to need your help. First, I need to know why they put you down here. I know the god needs one female and one male sacrifice but they have me and Kaylee. Why bring you into it?' Dean asked confused
'Before they took me here, I overheard them talking about something… but it didn't make any sense to me at the time' Emily explained
'What did they say?' Dean asked suddenly
'They said…' Emily said trying to remember
'Oh, that's right, they said that they didn't know if the sacrifice would work because the female wasn't human' Emily said
'What?' Dean asked confused and I could feel his eyes on me. I tried to control my breathing as my world just crashed down around me.
'They said that the god was angry with them so they would sacrifice a human man and human woman like normal but also they would give him the unknown creature to hopefully appease him' Emily finished before crying.
'Why would they do something so horrible?' Emily cried as Dean continued to look at me shocked and confused. He tore his eyes away from me and back to Emily.
'Calm down, I am going to need your help okay. Now, we can destroy the scarecrow, but we got to find the tree' Dean explained
'What tree?' Emily asked
'Maybe you can help me with that. It would be really old. The locals would treat it with a lot of respect. You know, like it was sacred' Dean explained as I continued to pretend I was unconscious.
'There was this one apple tree. The immigrants brought it over with them. They call it the First Tree' Emily explained
'Is it in the Orchard?' Dean asked
'Yeah, but I don't know where' Emily explained before the door opened to reveal the townspeople.
'It's time' Emily's Aunty said.
'Pick up the other one' Scotty said and I felt myself being carried by Dean and placed into a car. We drove for a while until we stopped at the Orchard. I was carried into the Orchard and tied to a tree. I then faked waking up and looked over to see Dean and Emily tied up to the trees beside me.
'How many people have you killed, Sheriff? How much blood is on your hands?' Dean asked
'We don't kill them' The Sheriff explained
'No, but you sure cover up after. I mean, how many cars have you hidden, clothes you have buried?' Dean asked as The Sheriff walked over to me.
'What are you?' The Sheriff asked softly, but I saw Dean look over out of the corner of my eye. I pretended I didn't notice.
'Nothing you've ever seen before' I snarled softly.
'Uncle Harley, please' Emily begged
'I am so sorry, Em. I wish it wasn't you' Harley explained
'Try to understand. It's our responsibility and there's just no other choice. We can't risk him not accepting the non-human. There is nobody else but you' Her Aunty cried and I tensed up as Dean looked over at me.
'I'm your family' Emily said
'Sweetheart, that's what sacrifice means. Giving up something you love for the greater good. The town needs to be saved. The good of the many, outweighs the good of the one.' The aunty said before they townspeople left.
'I hope your apple pie is freaking worth it!' Dean shouted as they left.
'So, what's the plan?' Emily asked
'I'm working on it' Dean muttered as the sun started to set.
'You don't have a plan, do you?' Emily asked and I sighed.
'I'm working on it. Can you see it?' Dean asked
'What?' Emily asked confused
'Is he moving yet?' Dean asked
'I can't see' Emily said as we heard footsteps walking towards us. I was about to break out of the restraints but I smelt it was Sam.
'Dean?' Sam called out
'I take everything back I said. I'm so happy to see you' Dean said sighing as Sam quickly started to untie Dean.
'How'd you get here?' I called out
'I, uh, stole a car' Sam confessed
'Ha-ha! That's my boy' Dean laughed
'Keep an eye on that scarecrow. He could come alive any minute' Dean said as Sam untied him.
'What scarecrow?' Sam asked confused, Dean stood up quickly to find the scarecrow was gone.
Sam quickly untied me while Dean untied Emily. We started running through the orchard.
'All right. Now, this sacred tree you're talking about' Sam said as we ran
'It's the source of its power' I said
'So let's find it and burn it' Sam said
'In the morning. Let's just shag ass before Leatherface catches up' Dean said before I smelt people in the distance.
'Wait a minute!' I called out and slowed down.
'What? No!' Dean snapped and continued to run until he heard a gun cock and Emily's Aunt and Uncle were there, pointing a gun at Dean, Emily and Sam.
'This way' Dean said and he saw The Sheriff, pointing his gun. They were soon surrounded by the townspeople.
'Please let us go' Emily begged
'It'll be over quickly; I promise' Harley said
'Emily, you have to let him take you. You have too…' Harley started to say before the Scarecrow appeared behind Harley and stabbed him through the heart. Emily screamed and Dean pulled her to his chest. The scarecrow the grabbed Emily's Aunt and Uncle and dragged them into the darkness.
'Let's go. Now!' I yelled, leaving no room for argument.
…
The next day Sam, Dean, Emily and I returned to the orchard to find the sacred and torch it. Dean had ignored me all night and Sam was starting to notice.
'Hey Kaylee' Sam whispered as we slowed down and Dean and Emily walked ahead.
'What's going on with you and Dean?' Sam asked and I looked at the back of Dean's head and sighed.
'When the townspeople knocked Dean unconscious, I may have showed them my werewolf form before they knocked me out with a Taser. Emily overheard them talking about me not being human and when they thought I was unconscious, she told Dean' I whispered
'Dean doesn't know you know that he knows that you're not human' Sam asked and I looked at him confused before finally working out what he said.
'No, he thinks I was unconscious when Emily told him' I explained before we up to a tree that had carvings in it. Sam and I poured gasoline on the tree while Dean lit a stick on fire.
'Let me' Emily said to Dean.
'You know, the whole town's going to die' Dean said
'Good' Emily said grabbing the burning stick and throwing it into the tree, burning it.
We drove Emily to the bus station and made sure she got on a bus safely.
'Think she's going to be all right?' Sam asked as the bus drove off.
'I hope so' Dean said
'And the rest of the townspeople, they'll just get away with it? I asked but Dean ignored me.
'What will happen to the town will have to be punishment enough' Sam said
'So can I drop you off somewhere?' Dean asked Sam
'No, I think you're stuck with me and Kaylee' Sam said
'What made you change your mind?' Dean asked
'I didn't. I still want to find Dad. And you're still a pain in the ass. But Jess and Mom… they're both gone. Dad is God knows where. You, me and Kaylee… we're all that's left. So, uh, if we're going to see this through… we're going to do it together. As a family' Sam said looking at me when he said Family.
'Hold me, Sam. That was beautiful. Come on' Dean joked
'You should be kissing my ass. You were dead meat, dude' Sam laughed
'Yeah, right. I had a plan. I'd have gotten out' Dean said
'How?' I asked amused
'We all have our secrets, don't we Kaylee?' Dean said coldly to me
'You got something you want to say to me?' I snapped
'Yeah, actually I do. When were you going to tell me that you weren't human?' Dean said angrily
'Why does it matter what I am? I am still the same girl who has been helping you find your dad for 6 months. I'm still the same girl who helped you with all those other hunts' I asked
'Because if you're not human then that means you are one of those evil sons of bitches that we hunt for a living!' Dean yelled disgusted and I felt pain hit my heart again.
'You think I'm like those creatures? You think I would really hunt and kill humans?' I asked coldly, hiding my hurt.
'All I know is that you have been lying to us since the first time we met you' Dean said coldly back.
'Dean…' Sam started to say
'No, Sam. It's fine. If he feels like that, then so be it' I said softly. I walked over to the boot and grabbed my bags.
'For the record Dean, just because I'm not human, doesn't mean I'm like those monsters' I whispered, before turning away and leaving the brothers behind me.
