Kate was amazing. It was beyond her how she had figured out that the pizza joint—which was not visibly affiliated with the shooting range or drug ring—was where the shipments were originally sent then carried in pizza delivery bags, purses, backpacks, or any other kind of package to the shooting range. But in the hour and a half since she had received Shawn's text, she and Carlton had been reading rights and collecting evidence. And Shawn had told her there was more to come—this was one of the biggest cases of her career and she couldn't believe how smoothly everything was going. In fact, she almost had a bad feeling about how easy it was.

Which is why when she saw her phone light up with Shawn's name, she felt her heart drop a little bit. "What's up Shawn?" She asked, taking a step away from the bustle of the scene.

"First of all, men are pigs…"

She laughed in spite of herself. "Yes, they are, but every once and a while, you find a good one. Any reason why you came to this conclusion?"

"These guys were talking about Kate—well, Robin—but I almost dropped the trap door I was holding." Shawn said and she could hear how upset whatever he had heard made him.

"Wait…trap door?"

"Long story. Anyway, meet us at the Psych office. Just you, but come pronto." He said before abruptly hanging up.

"Shawn? Shawn…" She sighed and put her phone away. "Carlton, I need to go, I'll let you know when I have something."

He looked at her skeptically, then shrugged. "At least he's not just doing it himself I guess."

She half laughed and waved; glad she had taken her own car to the scene as she started toward her fiancé's office. She'd driven on the faster end of things and made great time to the Psych office, excited to see Kate's car in the lot as she hurried through the back door. "Shawn, Kate, Gus, I'm here."

"Kate's not, but I'm glad to know I got bumped to the end of your list…" Gus answered.

"Oh, Gus, you know that's not true, it's just I call Shawn and Kate so much at home and—"

"Juliet, it's fine." He interrupted with a smile. "But I'm keeping that in mind come Christmas…" He added with sarcasm.

She laughed and looked around. "I saw Kate's car…"

"We borrowed it. That way we have an excuse to go back—don't worry, we don't think anyone saw us, but we need your intel." Shawn answered as he entered the room and flopped into his chair. "There's a scared little mole in the operation that Kate wants to protect."

"Why doesn't he or she just come to the police?" She asked as Gus pulled out a ledger.

"We're not sure. That's why we need your help." Gus said as he flipped through pages.

"I analyzed the ledger and realized—"

"You did jack-squat—" Gus interrupted.

"Gus!" Shawn cried in mock-horror. "Don't be a stinky hog on a hot summer day in Toledo, I helped!"

"Shawn…Gus…" She headed of the mumbled argument that was already beginning. "The ledger…Kate…the drug ring…"

"Oh right, did you find anything at the pizza place?" Shawn asked.

"Yeah, lots…and your video message was quite…"

"Fantastic?"

"Illuminating?"

"Inventive?"

"Well filmed?"

She held up a hand to stop Shawn before he took his next turn. "Interesting…Carlton was less than impressed but I still think he overheard you saying you're not a psychic at some point."

"You and your big mouth." Gus mocked and Shawn snapped his tongue. "But Juliet, this ledger. Here are the dates of the deliveries to the range, the initials of who delivered and the initials of who received, the amount delivered, and it's worth. Meticulous notes, but we don't have all the details of the case so we're not sure what's helpful."

"Jules, what got you started on this case? Because I know you found the range the same day I did but you started working on it a couple weeks before." Shawn asked and she sighed; she wanted to ask how he knew all that, but he could read her like a book.

"We found some of the drugs. Small batches of low-grade stuff and it eventually led us to the shooting range." She answered.

"When? The dates that you found the drugs." Gus asked and she wracked her brain as Shawn jumped out of his seat and came to look over her shoulder at the ledger while calling his best friend brilliant.

"Uh, August 18th, August 1st, and I think the first was July 26th—no visible pattern."

Shawn ran his finger down the ledger, stopping on each of the dates she mentioned. "There is now!" He exclaimed and ran to his laptop. "G.H. and L.B."

"G.H. is probably Gabriel Hernandez, he's our leading suspect for the head of the operation—unless its Junior, his son, but either way they're highly involved." She'd spent hours combing Hernandez' records trying to find anything they could get him on.

"And L.B. is either Lance Bass—"

"Really? The Lance Bass?" Gus interrupted.

"Wait for iiit—" Shawn started as he clicked on his computer. "No, an alias…and a bad one…" He flipped the computer to reveal a small Chinese man. "So either fake Lance Bass or Leo Baricelli." Shawn clicked through more pictures. "Nope, it's got to be Junior."

"What makes you say that?" She asked—he sounded so confident and she had no doubt he was right, but she had no clue why.

He flipped the screen again to reveal a very large man with a well-trimmed mustache and a mean look to him. "Because, this man weighs nearly three hundred pounds and looks like a creep and I'm pretty sure Gus and I supported his weight on a trap door today, fake Lance is at least sixty, and Senior is running the whole thing."

"I'm still not following…" She sighed.

Shawn closed his laptop and plopped into the seat next to her. "Okay, well—"

"What? You're explaining it to her? You never explain it to me!" Gus interrupted.

"I'm marrying her. You, I owe nothing." Shawn said simply then winked at her. "Anyway, why did we send Kate in?"

"Because she was the only one who could go…" She sighed, she still wasn't thrilled that Kate went in.

"Right…and because she's pretty, good with a gun, and quick on her feet. Now why would someone be willing to help her but not the cops?"

"Because she's pretty?" Gus answered without confidence.

"Good Buddy! She's pretty and they don't want her killed. They must also want out of the operation…"

"But he can't reveal himself because he's supposed to take over the entire operation!" Gus finished, hopping up and down.

"Junior is twenty-six…of course he took an interest in Kate—"

"Well everyone apparently took an interest in her, but he's likely the only one who cares about whether she lives or dies." Shawn corrected.

"But Kate doesn't know who was helping her?" Shawn and Gus shook their heads. "So what do we do now?"

"Infiltrate. But protect Kate and Junior." Gus answered.

"Chances are it's going to be a firefight when we burst in. We need to get Kate and Junior out of there before hand." Shawn added glumly.

"If by we you mean the SBPD…" Shawn gave her a look that told her he'd be there either way. "But you're likely right. And Kate and—assuming you're right—Junior make themselves instant targets if they don't at least draw a weapon against the police. Shawn, do you have a plan?"

"I might…" He replied with a glimmer in his eye. "Is your cousin in town? Sam?"

"Yeah…" She wasn't sure where he was going with this.

"You think he'd be willing to go to the shooting range? Because it's obvious Junior likes Kate and there is no way I'm letting my sister date someone with even past drug smuggling involvement. I think it's time for them to meet."

"I'll call him…but flesh out this plan more Shawn. I'm not sending Sam in there for some half-assed plan." Sam was probably her favorite cousin, and a civilian. As much as she loved Kate, she couldn't risk sending him in unless she was sure she could get him out safely.

"I am, I am, just see if he's free." Shawn said as he closed his eyes, likely piecing his plan together in his head.

She dialed and after two rings, she heard Sam's voice. "Hey cousin, what's up? You finally going to take me up on that tennis date?"

She smiled, tennis was his newest hobby and he'd been asking her to play for weeks but her work schedule just didn't allow for it. "Hey Sam, and not quite, I just wanted to see if you were free today—I can't give you any details yet, but I wanted to ask."

"Is this an undercover sting? I'm in. I'm so in." He responded with that easy-going attitude he always possessed."

"So you're free?"

"Very. Is there danger involved? Maybe a pretty girl? A damsel in distress if you will?" She could hear the excitement building up in his voice.

"Keep your phone on you, I'll keep you posted…" She replied coyly before hanging up. "Okay Shawn, what's the plan? And if the Chief asks, I had no idea you involved my cousin, got it?"

Shawn nodded brightly. "So, we send Sam in. His eyes are remarkably similar to yours, so Kate should be able to identify him. I'll send her a coded message so she knows he's coming."

"And how does he get her out of there? And what about Junior? Are we even sure he's in today?" Gus asked all the questions that were running through her mind.

"Junior is there in the gun den." Shawn answered frankly. "What, I texted McNabb. Anyway, the plan…I'll get Kate to buddy up with Junior and in an hour or so, Sam will go ask Kate out. Kate needs to accept both dates, and if I understand Junior like I think I do, he will get very defensive and throw Sam out personally. Kate follows them out then she and Sam grab Junior and drag him to a waiting car then we all storm in and catch the bad guys."

She stared at Shawn for a moment. "That…that's a fleshed out plan?"

"Actually yes." Gus answered with a shrug. "And not his worst."

"Shawn, you're making eight different assumptions there with massive margins for error." Was this how he normally operated? How did he ever get out of these things alive?

"But I know Kate." Shawn answered simply.

"Sure, I'll give you that, but that doesn't mean it's a good plan." She was having trouble keeping her voice calm. How could he be so careless? If she submitted a plan like this to the Chief, she'd be mocked indefinitely.

"Jules. Kate can do this. We know Junior is in to her, it won't take much for her to get him to ask her out." Shawn seemed frustrated but not nearly as frustrated as her.

"And Junior kicking Sam out?" She asked tersely.

"In the, what, two days you've been observing the shooting range, Junior has talked to three customers who went from ogling Kate to being very careful to not look at her. All guys about Sam's age and build. That's before he's even been willing to talk to her, it's clear he's got a temper and it's not a stretch that he'd want to personally chauffer anyone who blatantly asks Kate out, from the building."

She thought about it, and it wasn't the worst plan. "What if Junior is more violent than you think? What if he hits Sam, or shoots him?"

Shawn looked at her thoughtfully. "He won't. He wants to impress Kate. Plus, he knows something is up, that's why he gave her the ledger, he'll probably be suspicious."

"So say he's suspicious and doesn't take the bait…"

"Jules, trust me. Trust Kate. This will work, I'm sure of it."

She sighed, looked into the glorious green eyes of the man she loved, and consented. "I'll call Carlton, you call Sam. This better work…"
