-Bugs and Glitches-
"Three, three, three, three, three... Three... Three, two, one."
"Welcome back guys to the new EPIC. JUMP. MAP! With me today is Sky, and. . . Dude, what's going on with your character?"
"You see that too?"
Adam frowned and glanced down at his keyboard, lifting his mouse off the desk just for good measure. Bu his Minecraft character was still moving about. After a moment, Adam set his mouse back down and suddenly got control of it again. He shrugged and adjusted his headset. "It's fine, must be a bug."
They were about halfway through the map. Sky noticed how buggy his character was. It would do that wobbling glitch whenever he tried to make it sprint. It would glitch onto blocks, too. For a moment, he thought he would miss a jump, but then it would catch on the block and warp up. His screen would shake and spin, like he had nausea.
And suddenly, the world tipped and he was thrown into f5 mode. "What?" he asked intelligently, staring at his screen.
"Wait, what's happening?" Ty asked, furiously moving his mouse side to side. "Why isn't it working? Are you in f5 too?"
Adam nodded and frowned. "Yeah. What the fuck is this?"
"I don't-"
"Hey, shut up for a moment."
Ty fell silent. And they listened. It took a moment, but then they heard it:
"... lame excuse you have. Can't you just be legit for once, Sky?"
"Why are you so angry, Ty? I just teleported so I wouldn't've fallen and died."
"Then you would have respawned at the beginning of the map. Dying gives you no excuse. And besides, knowing you, you would have just pushed me off and continued on without a care in the world!" Ty's mc character suddenly flung his hands up, completely animated. It was like watching a cartoon—a cartoon that was not supposed to ever be made.
"All you ever care about is yourself. You push people off maps—"Ty's character held a hand up and started listing off the flaws. "—you betray your friends in the Hunger Games, and all around you're just a big douche." 'Sky' took a step towards Deadlox, and the headphone-wearing teen scowled. "Stay away from me, you little prick!"
Adam's character took another step forward. His mouth opened as if to say something, but Deadlox shoved him away. "I said stay away!"
"Ty... What kind of drugs are we on?" Sky murmured, staring at his screen. He blinked once and rubbed an eye. "You're seeing the same thing that I'm seeing, right?"
"Uh-huh."
"If I'm not wanted," the Minecraft character Sky muttered. He had backed up to the edge of the block, heels nearly hanging off the edge. "The why did you want to do this map with me?"
"Because Bodil-"
"I'm not really sure why I would want to do a map with such a big jackass."
"Adam, is this really happening? This's gotta be a bug, or- or a glitch, or something."
And suddenly, the Minecraft Deadlox took the two needed steps forward and shoved Sky off the block of grass. Sky scrambled at the air, reaching for something—anything—to halt his fall. Adam watched, speechless, as he dropped into a small pond.
"Dude..." Ty paused and pounded a fist onto his keyboard. His character scrambled forward suddenly, kneeling down and reaching after the other bugged character. "We need to get Kermit. He's gotta see this."
Adam nodded and minimized his Minecraft window, going into Skype. After a moment, he paused and said, "You need to add him. You're the host of the call."
Ty nodded and did just that. Adam went back to Minecraft and watched as Deadlox dove off the block and into the water. For a moment, there was nothing but the ripples from the splash. Then Adam cried out and jerked back in his chair as his POV was suddenly taken back to first person.
"Behold, puny human, the true and mighty power of the squid!"
Huh. So this was based off the prompt Prompt: It's a normal day, but while fiddling with his computer, Sky finds out that their world is just a game played by us, the real humans. So thanks to DJMidge for it. Sory if this isn't what you wanted, but this was an idea I couldn't pass up.
It's funny, though, how far I've come. I had to read back through the first chapter of Animal for this, and I realized that I've grown as a writer. I also want to take the time to thank everybody, once again, for how much you've loved my stories. It really means a lot. So yeah. Leave a review, tell me what you think. Stay awesome people, guys. I love every single one of you.
