CHAPTER 51

I do not own Doctor Who, The Flash, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Spider-Man, Arrow, the X-Men, the Avengers, The Spider, The Fantastic Four, or Supernatural, and I am making no profit off of this.

Thank you for all of your favorites, follows, story alerts, and reviews!

Story Note: Obviously this takes place sometime before we find out who the Reverse Flash really is on The Flash. There are definitely spoilers for the show at the end of this chapter so don't read it if you don't already know his identity yet.

RACING ACROSS TIME PART 1

At first Spider-Man thought that he was being brought to wherever Jenny was when he suddenly found himself fading away right in the middle of a fight with his old enemy, Electro. That was the way that it usually worked after all. No matter where he was or what he was doing he would suddenly start vanishing and would reappear somewhere near Jenny. Then she would instantly give him an apologetic look and start explaining what she needed him and the others in the Alternative Gang to help her with that day.

At first that bothered him quite a bit but then he slowly got used to it as he grew to trust Jenny more and more. He knew now that she would only bring him to her if she really needed his help and not just on a casual whim. He also knew that she would always bring him right back to the exact time and place where she had plucked him from in the first place so that he didn't have any awkward explaining to do afterwards.

At least he wouldn't have any more than a man who was constantly running off at the drop of a hat to change into Spider-Man usually did anyway to the people around him.

This time however was completely different. When he reappeared, he found himself alone in the middle of a strange city that he didn't recognize with no sign of Jenny or the rest of her group anywhere in sight.

At first he thought that maybe Jenny just hadn't gotten there yet and remained optimistic despite the nagging feeling in the back of his mind that something was wrong. After all his Spider-Sense wasn't going off yet to warn him of any danger so everything must be basically fine, right?

Then he saw an entire armored truck that was across the street from him suddenly freeze solid in the blink of an eye. Almost simultaneously all of the police in the cars that had been in front of it began to simultaneously open fire on someone that he couldn't see.

Then they too were all suddenly frozen solid right in the act of firing upon the mysterious attacker.

"Okay, that is definitely not a good sign. Unless Iceman has suddenly had a major career change since the last time I saw him, I'd say that something is seriously wrong here. I guess looking for Jenny is just going to have to wait because these people definitely need your friendly neighborhood . . ." Spider-Man started to say.

He was suddenly interrupted by what he could swear was the blurred outline of a man speeding by him at incredible speed. He couldn't make any of his features out though because the figure went by far too quickly so he had absolutely no idea who he was. All that he knew for sure was that whoever it was definitely was going to get to the truck's mysterious assailant a whole lot quicker than he was.

"Or maybe they don't need me at all. Suddenly I feel like a fifth wheel around here wherever here is. Unless Quicksilver's suddenly started dressing all in red, I'd say that that's definitely a sign that I'm not in Kansas anymore," Spider-Man said with a frown.

"Oh, I'd say that that's a pretty safe bet, dude," A young man said from somewhere behind him.

Spider-Man instantly whirled around to face him even as he felt an inner sense of relief that his Spider-Sense still wasn't going off yet. Whoever this was obviously meant him no harm so at least he had that going for him which was far better than how his luck usually ran.

"You're actually in Central City and if I miss my guess you're not exactly from around here are you? Mostly I say that because I've just been monitoring a whole series of weird multi-dimensional energy fluctuations that I traced right here to you. At first I thought that it was Snart behind it all with yet another crazy scheme of his but somehow I didn't think so. He's smart but not that smart. Now I can see that I was right based on these new readings that I just took. You're from another universe aren't you? Oh, that is so cool! I get to meet a super-hero from another reality," The man said with a huge smile.

Spider-Man couldn't help but like this kid already as he said, "Well, at least I won't have to go through a huge pointless fight where I try to convince the local good guys that I'm on their side. Believe it or not this sort of thing has happened to me before and that's what usually seems to happen whenever it does. How did you figure out that I was a super-hero anyway?"

"Who else would dress like that? Most villains go for darker colors like black or purple not red and blue. That look practically screams good guy. Well, either that or 'escapee from a psycho ward.' I decided to side with super-hero instead though because I like to stay optimistic. I'm Cisco by the way. Cisco Ramon. That red blur that just went by you was our local hero, The Flash. I help him out from time to time in case you're wondering what I'm doing here. So what super-hero name do you go by and how did you get here? Do you have some kind of machine or can you travel through dimensions with your powers?" Cisco asked with a face filled with curiously.

"I'm Spider-Man and I have absolutely no idea how I got here. I was kind of hoping that you would know since you seem to have all the answers right now. I'm really hoping that you have some way out of here anyway because my usual ride back home doesn't seem to be showing up this time," Spider-Man said with concern.

"Sorry, dude, but I don't have any more idea how you arrived than you do, and I definitely don't have a way to send you back. I'm good but I'm not that good. I could work on it though. Maybe I can come up with something. Oh, and 'Spider-Man'? You really should have gone with a much better name. It's kind of redundant don't you think? I mean we already know that you're a guy so why do you have to announce it to everybody? How about The Spider instead? That makes you sound much more mysterious and scary. I guarantee you that it'll intimidate all the bad guys where you come from. 'Oh, no! It's the Spider!' See? That sounds a whole lot better," Cisco said with a grin.

Spider-Man frowned as he said, "Excuse me but I've used this name for years now. It seems to be working pretty well for me so far."

"Really? I guess it takes a whole lot less to impress people wherever you come from then," Cisco said with a shrug.

"Are you going to stand here insulting me all day or tell me what's going on with the frozen people over there instead? I'll assume that this Snart person is behind it that you mentioned earlier whoever he is," Spider-Man asked as he tried to find out exactly what kind of a mess that he had just gotten himself into here.

Maybe he could even find a clue as to how he got there while he was at it.

"You're right. The man who just froze them all solid with his freezing gun was named Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold. I named him by the way. See what I mean by having a snappy name? No one in their right mind's going to tangle with a man named Captain Cold," Cisco said proudly.

"So do you make a habit of naming the super-people around here or something? Do they all have to clear their names with you first before they can do anything?" Spider-Man said with a small chuckle.

"I wish. Actually I just started giving all the villains names in order to keep track of them all. Snart at least seemed to like my suggestion and kept it unlike some people," Cisco said with a frown.

"I am not calling myself The Spider," Spider-Man said in a firm tone.

"That's up to you, dude. It'll just sound a whole lot better is all I'm saying. It's up to you if you want to keep sounding like an amateur for the rest of your life," Cisco said with a shrug.

"Are we going to keep arguing about my name or are you going to stand aside and let me help stop this Cold character?" Spider-Man said with a groan.

"There's no need. If I know The Flash, he's already got it all handled by now. I'd say we should just focus on taking you back home instead. I'll bring you back to S.T.A.R. Labs with me. My boss there, Dr. Wells, should be able to come up with something to send you on your way. He's even more brilliant than I am," Cisco said proudly.

"Somehow that doesn't sound very encouraging to me so far," Spider-Man quipped as Cisco gave him a dirty look.

"There you are. I was beginning to think that I'd never find you," Jenny said to Spider-Man with a sense of relief in her voice as she suddenly appeared next to him in a burst of energy.

She instantly gave him a tight hug as she said, "I knew that something was wrong when you didn't come with the others to help me after I summoned you. I can't think what happened though. I'm pretty sure that I didn't send you here."

"Why don't we worry about it later, Jen? The sooner you send me back the better if you really don't need me anymore because I was right in the middle of something huge there. Electro had just become super charged somehow and was about to completely tear apart the entire city. As usual, I was the only one stupid enough to try to stop him," Spider-Man said in an anxious voice.

"Is this your girlfriend?" Cisco asked in a voice filled with awe as he stared at Jenny with wide eyes.

"I wish. No, we're just very good friends. She's married by the way so don't get any ideas," Spider-Man said in a protective tone.

"Of course she is. It probably wouldn't work out anyway even if she wasn't. Only the crazy ones seem to be attracted to me," Cisco said with a sigh.

Jenny smiled at him sympathetically as she said, "That might not always be so, you know? Maybe you should try to remain as optimistic about that as you were about Spider-Man being a hero."

Cisco looked at her in surprise as he said, "How did you know what I said to him? You weren't even there."

Jenny gave him an enigmatic smile but said nothing as Cisco laughed and said to Spider-Man, "Now this is what you should be aiming for, man. She's intimidating and mysterious at the same time and I don't even know her name yet."

"I'm Jenny. Jenny Tyler," Jenny said with a chuckle as she heard Spider-Man lightly groan in frustration beside her.

"Jenny? No, you need a much better name than that. That's not intimidating at all and neither's the girl next door look you have going there by the way. That kind of works against the whole dark and mysterious image that you're trying to project," Cisco said with a frown.

"Maybe it doesn't sound so frightening here but I guarantee you that that name definitely scares everybody else that we've ever come across while I've been traveling with her. They should be scared too. She's not always as sweet as she seems to be right now. Trust me," Spider-Man warned.

Cisco nodded because he could already see that now by looking into Jenny's eyes. Not only could he see a loving spirit and immense kindness there, but if he stared into them long enough he could also see something far darker reflected there as well just beneath the surface. It was something that was both terrifying and wonderful all at once.

As he shivered in response, Jenny immediately said in a gentle voice, "It's okay. I'm not here to do anyone any harm if I don't have to."

"I see why you go for the girl next door look now. You wouldn't be able to get anyone to come within ten feet of you if you didn't. I don't know how you do it but you're both sweet and scary at the same time," Cisco said with a smile.

"Well, I'm certainly not trying to be," Jenny said with concern.

"It's not anything that you're doing, Jen. It's just the general vibe that you give off. There's something kind of majestic and cosmic about you that's more than a bit intimidating at first. Anyone can feel that just by standing near you long enough. And yet when you really get to know her, Cisco, you'll find out that she's basically a huge goofball at heart," Spider-Man said with a slight chuckle.

Jenny couldn't help but smile in response to that even as she said in a fake angry tone, "Thanks a lot."

Spider-Man immediately became serious now as he said in an almost guilty tone, "Uh, Jen, I hate to ask this because I feel like I'm running out on you, but could you maybe find someone else to take my place for a while? I know that you don't mean to but you're kind of adding even more stress to my life than usual ever since I started helping you. I was already burning the candle at both ends trying to have some kind of personal life and being Spider-Man at the same time. Now I have to do this too. It's . . . It's all just a bit too much even for someone with the proportionate strength of a spider. I actually went to sleep right in the middle of a fight with the Sandman yesterday. I still beat him by the way but when you wake up to find a 'kick me' sign on your back that the Human Torch left there as a prank while you were dead to the world I think that it's long past time to stop trying to have three lives at once. As if that wasn't enough, now I'm suddenly going to the wrong places too when you call. I hope you won't get too mad about it, but I'd really like out of all of this at least for a little while."

Jenny smiled at him reassuringly as she said, "Don't worry about it. It's fine. I completely understand, okay? Here. Let me send you back home."

"This won't be the last time that I see you will it?" Spider-Man asked with concern.

"Nope, I'm afraid that you're not quite that lucky, Web-Head. You'll definitely see me again someday whether you like it or not," Jenny said with a warm grin.

"Good. I'd like to stay and find out what happened to bring me here, but I have a feeling knowing you that I'd wind up hip deep in trouble in no time if I did. I definitely need to save all of my strength to take on Electro with instead," Spider-Man said.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Jenny said with a good natured smile.

"Right. See you later, Jen," Spider-Man said as he waved good bye to her.

"Or sooner. Whatever," Jenny said with that same enigmatic smile of hers as she instantly snapped her fingers and sent him home.

"Whoa. You just glowed all over for a moment and the energy readings in this area went off the scale," Cisco said as he checked a small device in his hand.

"Yeah, she does that. Don't be too put off by it though. Spidey's right. She is basically just a huge goof," A woman's voice said nearby.

Cisco now turned in the direction of that voice and instantly gasped in surprise as he said in a low voice, "Beautiful."

He immediately flushed in embarrassment as he realized what he had said even as Andromeda replied with a grin, "Yeah, she is, isn't she?"

"I don't think he was talking about Jenny, Oblivious Girl," Buffy said with a smirk.

"Huh?" Andromeda said in confusion.

"He was talking about you, dear," Eris said with a smile.

"No, he was talking about Jen," Andromeda said with a frown as if that should be obvious to everyone.

That was when Cisco couldn't help but smile because it somehow endeared Andromeda to him even more when she didn't realize that he had meant her. It made her more down to Earth somehow and reminded him of his friend, Caitlin Snow.

Ironically enough just as he had thought of her, Caitlin's voice suddenly said in his earpiece, "Why don't you invite her and the others back to S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco, so that we can find out more about them . . . if you can stop staring at her long enough to actually talk to her that is? They might be able to help us find out what brought their friend here and whether it's anything that we need to be worried about or not."

"How do you know that I was staring at her?" Cisco said in a low voice.

"Maybe because you wouldn't stop staring at Black Canary for at least half an hour when you first met her even after she threatened you . . . several times," Caitlin said in a teasing tone.

Suddenly another voice broke into their conversation as Harrison Wells said in an authoritative tone, "Cisco, you have to make sure that they come here somehow no matter what you have to do in order to convince them. I need to talk to them right away before whatever happened to bring their friend here happens again. We have to find out what caused this as soon as possible because whoever comes to our world next that way might not be so friendly the next time."

"Got it. I'm sure it shouldn't be too hard. They seem to be as anxious to find out what's going on as we are," Cisco said.

That was when Cisco's co-workers suddenly received an unexpected visitor as Jenny appeared in the middle of S.T.A.R. Labs and made Caitlin instantly gasp in surprise.

"Sorry about that but I heard what you said and decided to come right away. The others will be here as soon as they can so don't worry about them. So, Dr. Wells, I'd really love to know if you had any theories of your own about what's happening here," Jenny said as she studied the wheelchair bound scientist with a scrutinizing gaze.

Dr. Wells smiled even as he wondered from the intense look in her eyes if she was already onto him. Unlike Cisco, he already knew all about Jenny Tyler after having heard so many stories about her in the future time that he had originally came from after all. He knew that if anyone could see through his lies that she could according to what all of the legends said about her incredible power.

And with that power, even now she might know exactly who he really was and what he wanted. If she did and was playing some sort of game with him, then she would definitely learn to regret it very soon now.

He was far from being the seemingly well-meaning scientist whose experiment had seemingly gone wrong and crippled him while killing so many others that he pretended to be after all. He was secretly the Flash's worst enemy, The Reverse Flash, who had become stranded in his enemy's own past after a fierce battle through time with him had caused them both to wind up there. Ever since then he had been doing everything possible in order to go back to his home in the far future once again including stealing the identity of Harrison Wells and creating a particle accelerator years ahead of schedule in order to use it to make the young Barry Allen into the Flash so that he could use him as a way of returning home.

Barry still wasn't mastering his powers quite quick enough for him however. He still couldn't use his incredible speed to time travel yet as his future self would one day be able to do. That was why when the mysterious Brethren had contacted Wells and told him exactly how to use the accelerator to trap Jenny he jumped at the chance to help them get rid of her in return for a chance to gain access to her power.

Since then, he had gone to a great deal of trouble to secretly use the accelerator to divert Spider-Man here instead of where Jenny had wanted him to go. He definitely hadn't gone to all of that effort to wind up with nothing.

Now that he finally had Jenny and her friends there he wasn't about to let them go either. He would get their help to return back to his own time either one way or another.

Soon now, very soon, he would be free from this horrible life in the distant past once again. No matter who he had to kill in order to do it.

Meanwhile at that very moment, Mary Winchester suddenly appeared several miles away from Wells' lab with a confused look on her face as she said, "What the -?! This definitely isn't Bobby's house. It's not even the same universe. How did I wind up so far off course?"

"Mary? I didn't know that Jenny called you up too. She didn't say a word about it," A voice said from behind her.

"You know me?" Mary asked with even more confusion as she turned around.

"Uh, yeah, I think we should. We've only been traveling with you off and on throughout time and space for close to two years now, Mar," Buffy said as she rolled her eyes at her.

They had been following Cisco's directions to the lab when they had accidentally come across Mary just standing there in their path.

"Buffy, that's not the Mary that we know," Eris said as she suddenly began to finally make sense out of something that Mary had said once.

"Who is it then? A clone? An alien? Someone who couldn't get a job impersonating anyone more interesting in Las Vegas?" Buffy asked with a grin.

Andromeda sighed as she said, "It is Mary but a past version of her. This is the first time that she ever met us. That's why Mary had never met Spidey that one time. She's meeting us in the wrong order. That happens sometimes with Time Lords. It's a bit annoying at times but you eventually get used to it."

"Okay, I've had more than enough of all of this weirdness. Someone better tell me how I got here and where here is or I'm going to start ganking people pronto," Mary said in an annoyed tone.

"Mary, calm down. We're your friends or at least we will be anyway . . . in the future. You just haven't gotten to know us yet even though we already know all about you. You see we've already met you several times now. It's what my dad would call timey wimey," Andromeda said with a small smile.

Mary stared at her intensely for a moment and then finally nodded as she said, "You're telling the truth. I can tell with my power. I still don't really understand what's going on though and trying to is really making my head hurt. Not that I really care anyway. I just want to go home. So if you don't mind, I think I'll . . ."

"Wait, Mary. Don't you want to know how you got here? Another friend of ours had the same thing happen to him recently too. Who's to say it won't happen to you again sometime? Don't you think that you should go ahead and come with us so that we can find out what it is and put a stop to it? That's what we were doing when we saw you after all," Eris said.

Mary sighed as she said, "Fine. I'll go with you then. If I find out that someone did this on purpose to me though, then I'm definitely going to do some heavy duty smiting because I am so not in the mood for this right now. It wasn't bad enough when half the Angels in Heaven tried to kill me recently. Now I've got someone trying to kidnap me too."

"We don't know that that's what it is, Mary," Andromeda said.

"It had better not be or someone's about to become my new pin cushion," Mary said as she briefly twirled her Colts around in her hands with a fierce expression on her face.

Next: Professor Wells might just wish that he had never agreed to go through with this plan for the Brethren if Mary finds out what he's really up to first. How did she get pulled to his universe anyway? Was it the accelerator or something else? Will Wells succeed in using Jenny and the others to go back home again or is Jenny truly way ahead of him already just as he suspects and carrying out a secret plan all of her own? Find out next time as Jenny and Wells fight both a mental and physical battle of wills with one another that may just wind up altering the future course of an entire universe. Oh, and don't worry Jen and the others will definitely get to meet Barry next time. I promise.
