Chapter 50
It's all part of the ride
*a/n Hey guys, I'm back and I just have to say, I'm proud of all of you out there on Tumblr who ship Shamy, because recently, we've got a lot of ideas out there and even more fics being written, and I'm excited to say the least. Also, as ya'll know, the title of this fanfiction is about frustration, so you have to expect at least a little angst or whatever somewhere in this, but I promise it's not that bad… I think. This chapter is a bit longer too, so, ya know. Anyway, Thank you all for the reviews on the last chapter, I hope this one is just as good xxx
Previously…
"If you don't want it getting dirty, I could just… take it off…" Sheldon said quietly with a smirk, winking at Amy in a way that made her knees go weak and her heart skip a beat.
"I'd like that." She breathed, and needless to say, the clothes Amy had dropped never did get picked up until the next morning.
Currently…
The next morning, Amy was the one to wake up first, restless and anxious. Last night before bed, Bernadette had confirmed she could go dress shopping with her, and she was eager to get it over with on the last day she could take off before the actual wedding. Although she was never one for shopping, she was excited to get to see her little blonde friend again.
Getting out of bed without waking Sheldon was harder than Amy had thought, and somehow, while she was trying to climb over him, she ended up on top of him and froze immediately when he stirred. She wondered briefly how he would react to waking up in such a position, but she wasn't too worried about it with how far they'd come.
Indeed, Amy had nothing to be worried about as Sheldon didn't even bother opening his eyes to show her he was awake. Instead, he blindly pulled her to him in a gentle embrace and she ended up lying against his chest as it rose and fell gently. She could practically feel the smile against his lips as he held her.
"I guess I can sleep a little longer…" Amy said to herself in the darkness of the room. As she snuggled into Sheldon's body, she heard him mumble something in his state of sleepiness.
"Good."
Two hours later…
Amy was suddenly jolted awake when Sheldon leapt up from the bed faster than she had ever seen done before. She was still half asleep and glanced at him in a confused fashion before her eyes fell on the door.
Bernadette was standing in the doorway, her hair frizzled and a frown on her face. When Amy looked to Sheldon, he was blushing.
Behind Bernadette stood Penny who, Amy could tell, was desperately trying to avoid looking at her and Sheldon all together. She guessed Penny was the one who let Bernadette in, but she was just glad Sheldon wasn't freaking out that she had. He just stood there, blushing, and staring at the ground.
There was an awkwardness in the room that was making Amy fidget in her spot on the bed and for a moment, she stole a peek at Penny and saw her shrug. Amy was just glad she still had her regular clothes on instead of her pajamas, because it enabled her to just get up and leave. The faster she left, the faster she could get back to Sheldon.

When Amy left, Sheldon stood there in a silence which he shared with Penny that wasn't totally comfortable, for some odd reason. He had expected her to go with Amy and Bernadette dress shopping, but since she was here, he guessed he wouldn't be able to go back to sleep.
"Hello, Penny." Sheldon broke their silence with a slight nod and brushed past her to get to the kitchen. He had no idea where their conversation was going, but he figured she'd be the one doing most of the talking, and he didn't mind.
"Sheldon, could you do me a favor?" He heard his neighbor ask from behind him. He began pulling bread from the bag with his back to her, his stomach growling at the thought of the lovely sandwich he was about to make in an attempt to distract from the fact that Amy didn't even say goodbye to him before leaving. It shouldn't have bothered him, but it did.
"I suppose so, but it is still in question as to whether I will accept said favor." He replied in his usual monotone, something he had gotten used to over the years but lost quite a bit since Amy came into his life. If he learned anything, it was to not let your own problems and emotions get in the way of everyday life.
"Sheldon, I don't care just… please. I told Amy I couldn't help her with dress shopping today or the rest of the week because I was busy, but the truth is… I lied because I just… I can't go dress shopping with her." Sheldon paused and stopped what he was doing; taking Penny's words into consideration before shaking his head slightly and taking a quiet breath.
"Penny, while I don't understand what you want me to do in this situation, I don't see why you just can't go dress shopping with Amy. She's a perfectly reasonable shopper, it's not like the experience would be horrible…"
Sheldon know that was a poorly sounding argument, but he was just so confused about everything. So much so, that he forgot he was holding bread for a moment and almost dropped it. Shaking his head at his stupidity, he placed the bread on the counter and moved to the fridge to get the rest of his ingredients for his sandwich.
"Just listen, okay?" Penny continued, sitting down at the kitchen island. "You can't tell Amy I didn't want to go with her. It's nothing against her, it's just… ever since Leonard and I have gotten engaged, I've been freaking out. I'm not ready for this, what if I'm not a good bride, or wife even?"
Sheldon listened on in silence, nodding every once in a while and moving about his task. What Penny was saying seemed legit, and while he felt for his friend, he still wasn't sure where she was going with this.
"I can't even think about anything wedding related, let alone wedding dresses and planning and everything else. I'm just so nervous, it's like… I just can't do it. I know I seemed okay with it at first, but I just don't know anymore…"
Before Penny could go further, Sheldon interjected with his thought on the subject as if he would never get a chance to speak again.
"You'll be fine, Penny. You and Leonard will be fine, everything will be fine. Although, it is good that you're having your doubts now, because you don't want it to be your wedding day and then this happening. One time, Amy made me watch an episode of a show called Friends, where one of the main characters ran out on her wedding, and it was a lot of unnecessary drama."
Sheldon was sure he had made his argument pretty clear and put the top piece of bread on his sandwich with a nod of satisfaction to himself. With any luck, Penny would take his words into consideration and carry through with marrying his best friend. One could only hope.
"Come on Sheldon, you're getting married too, aren't you in the least bit nervous?" This wasn't something Sheldon expected, and he could feel Penny's curious eyes on his back as he held his sandwich in his hands silently. Her stare made him slightly uncomfortable, but he stood still trying to control the anxious feeling inside of him.
"Of course I'm not, unlike you and Leonard, Amy and I have had a stable relationship which gives me no reason to be nervous about this particular event."
Sighing in relief at his steady tone, Sheldon turned around and began eating his meal while leaning on the counter. Penny was looking to him with a raised eyebrow and a small frown on her face.
"You can't tell me you aren't nervous at all, Mr. couldn't even kiss her until years after you began dating." Sheldon stopped chewing momentarily to ponder what Penny was saying. He hated how his friends seemed to never let that go honestly.
"I will say this once and once only," he said confidently, setting his sandwich down and moving off the counter towards where Penny was sitting at the island. "I love Amy, and I have no doubt this is what is best for us, so no, I am not nervous. Now if you'll excuse me, I have better things to think about than your doubts with your own relationship."
"Like what?" she questioned him with the same frown, only deeper this time. Sheldon sighed once again, interestingly enough, not in irritation but… sadness, maybe?
"Never mind…" Sheldon mumbled, grabbing his sandwich and walking back to his room, leaving a confused Penny staring after him.

"How about this one?" Amy asked hesitantly as she stepped out of the dressing room and did a little twirl to show off her current dress to Bernadette. Dress shopping today had been like walking on eggshells, something was wrong with Bernadette and she felt like if she said anything to upset her, she would explode. As if she wasn't nervous enough about trying on clothes in public. It wasn't as if she was the most confident about her now growing stomach.
"Looks great," Bernadette grumbled under her breath, paying little attention to Amy. This wasn't the first time she had done this, and, sighing, Amy stepped further out of the dressing room and up to Bernadette.
"Bernadette, what's wrong? If you didn't want to come today, all you had to do was tell me." Amy tried to ignore the fact that she was standing in the middle of the store in a wedding gown that was probably two sizes too small for her in favor of supporting her friend in her time of need, but it was hard with the stares from the people around her.
"It's not that…" the petite blonde said with a sigh, finally giving in to Amy's pestering. "It's just… guys are so mean! I found out today that the people from Nasa called Howard and offered him another chance up in space…"
When Bernadette trailed off, Amy looked to her with a confused frown. "I don't understand. How does this make Howard the bad guy here?"
"I'm getting there!" she snapped in return, and Amy flinched at her tone but tried not to show it. "Sorry Amy… anyway, he accepted it without talking to me about it… I guess I'm just a little surprised he chose not to talk to me about it is all."
Amy was surprised at this and while she felt sympathy for her friend, she couldn't take sucking in her stomach anymore so she backed into the dressing room to change while still trying to talk through the door to comfort her friend.
"I'm sure he didn't mean it. Maybe it was just too good an offer to refuse, and he knew you'd be against it. Maybe you should talk to him about it?" Bernadette was silent on the other side of the door and Amy wondered what she was thinking about. Why did relationships have to have so many problems?
"How do you know I'd be against it? Maybe I want him to go back into space, did you ever think of that?" the blonde growled, causing Amy to freeze in her tracks; topless and confused. Her friend certainly wasn't showing the clearest of signals today…
"If that were the case, wouldn't you be happy he took the offer, even if he didn't talk to you first? You don't sound happy. I'm not the one you should talk to about this, maybe you should try talking to him?" Amy offered once again, continuing to redress. On the other side of the door, Bernadette continued to ramble on, much to her displeasure.
"Well I am happy, I should just let him spend the rest of his life in space, since clearly he doesn't care about me or what I think. God I hate men." She snarled before beginning to pace back and forth. "Don't ever get married Amy!"
Throwing open the dressing room door, now fully dressed, Amy walked briskly over to Bernadette and took her by the shoulders, meeting her gaze and shaking her slightly.
"Bernadette, I know you're frustrated… but seriously, you need to talk to Howard about this. Also, just because you and your husband are having a fallout, doesn't mean I shouldn't get married. I love Sheldon, and nothing is going to change that." Backing away, Amy sighed and kept a steady gaze on her friend as the wheels began to turn in her mind.
Frowning slightly, Bernadette nodded and opened her mouth to say something but closed it again just as quickly. After a moment, she spoke again, her voice crumbling in her own ears.
"You're right, I'm sorry Amy. Should we continue looking for dresses?" she suggested, not in the least bit enthusiastic. Silently shaking her head, Amy grabbed her purse and smoothed her skirt.
"No, I think we need to get you home so you can talk to your husband. There will be plenty of time to find the dress, don't worry." Bernadette looked to Amy gratefully, and with that, the two women exited the store in a frenzy of emotions that neither chose to speak of for the time being.

"There you are." Sheldon said in a relieved tone as Amy walked through their apartment door later that evening. She had been gone the whole day and Sheldon could tell just how exhausted she was. Grabbing the remote, he pressed a single button and the tv shut off, drowning the whole room in a semi darkness.
The light coming in from the far window pooled into the room in a calming manor, allowing Sheldon to see just how stressed Amy's features appeared. Without any hesitation, he rose from his spot on the couch and walked towards her, pulling her into his arms in a sweet and innocent hug, his only intention to help her relax.
Within moments he could feel her slump her shoulders and give herself to the embrace, and holding her close, Sheldon began to smile. No doubt what he told Penny earlier was true, he just hoped Amy wasn't being like Penny and having second thoughts as well.
"Are you okay?" Sheldon asked quietly, pulling back a little to look at her face. Even though it was almost too dark to tell, he could notice just how tired she was, and wondered what happened on her day of shopping that caused her to be this way. Shopping wasn't usually this stressful, was it?
"I'm fine," she told him with a sigh, pulling completely away from his arms and moving into the kitchen to get a bottle of water. The minute she opened the fridge and the light came on, Sheldon watched her grimace and squint her eyes against the brightness. The way her eyes crinkled at the corners when she squinted was absolutely adorable.
"Our friends just have some serious… issues…" she finished before downing half of her bottle of water. Closing the fridge, the room once again was in almost a complete darkness, and this time, Sheldon moved over to the light switch and turned it on. Why he didn't do that before, he didn't know.
"You're telling me." Sheldon said with a sigh of his own before joining Amy in the kitchen. He began preparing tea for the both of them and Amy smiled warmly at this, he was getting better at comforting her, and it made her heart swell every time.
"Our friends seem to think the married life isn't all that it's cracked up to be…" Amy trailed off, placing her hands on the island and clasping them together. She watched on silently as Sheldon filled the kettle with water and placed it on the stove.
Turning to her, Sheldon covered her hands with his own and stood across from her, staring into her eyes intensely. "That's them. This is us, don't let them persuade your opinion of this, remember, I love you and that isn't going to change."
Amy stared back at him in quiet contemplation of what he had just said. He was right, as he usually is, and his words comforted her beyond anything he had ever told her. Smiling, she stood up and, keeping their hands together, moved closer to him in the silence of their thoughts.
Standing there with their hands intertwined in between them, Sheldon felt at home. For some reason, this was oddly comforting to him, Amy was finally home.
For the next few minutes, Sheldon and Amy both just stood staring and smiling at each other, doing what Penny would call 'eye coitus'. With that thought, Amy's mind began to wander to the thought of actual coitus, and a smirk quickly found its way to her lips when she remembered that they did that now.
Slowly, Amy closed the gap between them and returned to Sheldon's arms with her own intentions in mind. Sheldon readily held her in his arms, and she pressed her face into his collar bone before making her move and beginning to suck gently on the side of his neck.
Sheldon gasped quietly at the sensation of Amy's lips against his skin and pulled her closer to him, rubbing his hands up and down her back slowly. For a while, all that was heard was quiet murmurs and sounds of pleasures coming from the both of them. Amy's noises clouded Sheldon's mind, as his did with hers. All thoughts from earlier were forgotten.
After a while, Amy figured she had left her mark and began kissing up his neck to his jaw and his cheek before capturing his lips with hers in a passionate and spontaneous kiss to make up for not saying goodbye to him earlier. Oh, how she had missed him so.
What broke their small intimacy session was the high pitched whistle of the tea kettle, indicating that their water was heated properly. Sheldon reluctantly pulled away from Amy with one last kiss while she smirked when she saw the beginning of the hicky she had given him on his pale skin.
The rest of the night, Sheldon and Amy sat up talking about everything and nothing over their steaming mugs of tea, and it felt as if there was nothing more important in the universe than their time together. By the time they went to sleep, they were both too exhausted to do anything more than a simple good night kiss and a little snuggle for good measure.
