(Thunder)

My paws began a slow trot across the smooth wooden floor, making slight tapping noises as I walk. My paws, in fact my legs as a whole began to suddenly feel weak… I can't be scared to have a simple talk can I? Surely not… Amber and I talk all the time… I mean… not recently... but we talk often! However, we have never had to deal with something like this before… oh Arceus… why does this have to be so difficult to do? My legs continued to carry me along my path, my heart beginning to beat faster, with each painstaking step I took my heart pounded with pain. I couldn't protect her properly… she almost… could I live with myself if it did happen… if I was just that second slower the story would have been so… so different. I want to protect her… I can try as hard as I can but can that really be enough? How long until stuff happens… how long until I lose the pokemon I fell in love with? I'm not giving up on her… if it takes every little bit of strength I have then it will be worth it to see her happy again. I hop down the stairs one paw at a time making sure to keep my balance. Thunder this needs to be done… you need to get to the root of the problem… no amount of cuddles will help this. She is going to cry and be hard to deal with… but she needs to let stuff out. Oh Arceus this is going to be so hard. I scanned my eyes to the left and right. They connected with Amber's silhouette, dark against the shadow of the table that she resides under as she stares at the sunset. Dad told me that there is something magical about watching the sun rise and set with the one you love. What does he even mean by that? I have seen the sunset so many times… it is kinda boring. My legs carried me across the chilly tiles toward Amber and I sat next to her. Her look was straight and fixated on the orangey yellow tint of the sky. I looked at her then toward the sky… strange, I never noticed such beauty in the sunset before. The tint kind of reminded me of… "Your eyes…" I said out of nowhere… why did I say that?

"What?" she asked… the first sounds I had heard from her that weren't groans or sniffles in a week.

"Your eyes… the colour kind of looks like that," I continued. Amber sighed and went back to looking at the clouds painted in now a vibrant orange. "It is kind of mesmerizing like your eyes too…" I said. That… got some movement. Amber shuffled toward me and placed her surprisingly soft face on my shoulder. Though she did not say a word, her movements said a multitude of different things I do not understand. Does she feel safe with me? My eyes continued to look at the colours in the sky, occasionally disconnecting from it to look at Amber, make sure she is okay. Who am I kidding? She hasn't been okay all week! I nuzzled her neck and stood up. She looked at me with a tilted head, pain still visible in her eyes.

"Amber…" I started. Her eyes continued to look at me, studying, waiting for what I am about to say. "We need to talk," I said. Her eyes disconnected from me and closed with a strain, she tilted her head to the ground and gave a slow nod.

"Okay," she said with a slight choke in her voice.

"Come with me, we'll talk in our room. It will be better so nobody will walk in on us," I said before leading her up the stairs and into our bedroom. Amber walked to the bed, every step she took seemed drawn out and heavy. She leaped onto the bed and sat down. I followed her actions and sat facing her.

"What… do you want to talk about?" she asked sighing and dipping her head.

"It's about how you've been lately… you're starting to worry me Amber." I said with a look into her eyes.

"I am fine Thunder, really I am," she said slightly choking up at the end.

"Amber… I know you're not, don't try and lie to me. Tell me what is wrong."

She sighed and bowed her head, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "It's about last week…" she started. "I felt I could take him on… he sure didn't look tough… and he really wasn't. I… I froze a-and almost had consequences for it." Amber said with a slight quiver.

"Amber… you're not weak… not at all!" I exclaimed

"Well I sure as hell felt I was. I was powerless to him, Arceus knows what he would have…" I saw a tear fall from her eye. "He almost had his way with me… no way I would ever want my first time with someone like him. Thunder, if you weren't there the time you got there… It would have happened and I would likely be dead… he had me in a rough position… I-I had no idea what to do… he…" Amber collapsed on the bed. "He was so close… too close. I wasn't able to stop him… why wasn't I able to stop him? The look in his eyes… it is imprinted into my head… sick, and evil… like the rest of that base."

"Amber…" I can't say anything other than her name. What CAN I say?

"Face it… I'm weak and can't defend myself… unlike your mother, she can fight for herself and surely would be able to fight something like that off," she said.

"Well… that's where you're wrong." I heard Mom say from the door.

"How long have you been standing there?" I asked.

"Not long at all. I was going to grab something to eat then I heard Amber talking about me." She said.

"What do you mean? You can fight off anything that comes your way." Amber said.

"Believe it or not, I've been in that situation more times than you know… and every time Grant had come to my aid. I am extremely strong now… but was easily overpowered once. But Grant… even with him being a much lower level than me was always extremely powerful. There was a time… a time I'm sure you've heard about many times… where he had to fend off a horde of umbreon… the 'Umbreon Incident' I believe people call it. Very few people know the full story of what happened. Grant was sucked away back to his home dimension through a wormhole, he was trapped and no matter how hard he tried he couldn't get back here. He spent days… weeks… months maybe even years trying to get back to me… to no avail. All he had to remember me by was…" Mom took her jewl flower out of her fur, "this flower he gave me one Christmas. Obviously there is something special about this because with it he was able to open a half portal to this world… a window. He could not go through it nor could I see him. One of the days there was a fire in a pokemon centre Jess, Serena and the others had evactuated. I went through the fire to grab Grant's book… the only thing I had left of him. He said he saw the whole thing… me running in and getting the book and having rubble fall on me. I eventually got out… obviously. However, there was limited time before a gas bottle exploded… we all ran in different directions to escape the explosion. I ran into the woods, faster than I had before. I was exhausted and then… an umbreon appeared and I was tackled to the ground. Exhausted, I couldn't do anything. They began to torment me… start… licking me in… you know where. All while Grant was watching it… all of it. At this point Grant and I had never done anything like that. The umbreon was about to… but the pokemon centre exploded and I heard a slight scream, my eyes were closed because I didn't want to believe what was going on. I remember opening my eyes to the sound of a familiar voice… it was Grant, he had come through the portal and he smashed the umbreon into a nearby tree… narrowly saving me. He had walked to the umbreon who tried to hurt him… Grant shook it off like it was nothing. He power-up punched the umbreon and the umbreon eventually ran off. I was so exhausted. I remember we went to bathe and he hid us in the roots of a tree… it reminded me if when we were wild… after being released by Jess and Serena we found a tree in the middle of a field and spent winter there… anyway, the tree was a great place to hide. The next day… is when shit hit the fan. Apparently that umbreon was part of a gang. They attacked Grant. Then me… Grant had had enough of it… I will always remember the look in his eyes when he killed the first umbreon. He took advantage of their shock, picked me up and ran faster than he had ever ran before… I was still so weak. He dropped me off before running back to face those umbreon. And that's when he made history… one pikachu against over a hundred umbreon, he won but not without scars. By the end he was bashed and battered, bones broken. But he had a mission at that point, get to me. He later had other complications… oh Arceus you should have seen him when he stumbled into that pokemon centre… he fell into a crumpled heap, he had exposed bone and tears in his ears, he still has some of those scars on him."

I was speechless, I only heard the glory of what dad did… not how it really was. He did survive… only just.

"Was that the worst?" Amber asked

"Oh yeah. But there were other times when I was stronger that it still happened." Mom said.

"Oh?" Amber asked

"There was another time… Grant had torn his leg up terribly, I was in heat… I had to leave our makeshift den to look for some firewood. I was found by a glaceon. I thought since Grant was out of action I was doomed… I tried to defend myself, I began using iron tail and even tried a thunderbolt… it didn't affect the glaceon at all… he pinned me to the ground and tried stuff. despite Grant's condition he saved me again… and I still couldn't help but feel powerless." Mom said

"What happened after that?" Amber asked.

"Well… after all that Grant led me back to the den, he really did a number on his leg helping me, it was cut so deep you could see the bone. We had a talk, a serious one about whether or not we should try for kids again after out first died before they could be born… I told him that I'd think about it." Is this about me and Lucy? "The next day I went out to grab food, came back with some oran berries too. He took me back to his dimension… said he had a gift for me. He pulled out this lovely flower shaped locket… in fact..." Mom flicked a golden necklace off her neck, it was in the shape of a flower. She plopped it in front of Amber and opened it up. Inside were pictures of Mom and Dad in dad's home dimension. They were cute pictures of them, clearly in love with each other. "Read the back," mom said. Amber began reading.

"To Eve, cherish our memories together, forget the terrible past. Look to the future and never back. I love you with all my heart and I hope we will never be apart again. Love Grant." Amber read. "Aww that's sweet."

"That's just the kind of pokemon Grant is," mom said. "And I see that aspect has rubbed off on Thunder." Mom put her necklace back on and backed away from us.

"Anything else interesting happen that day?" Amber asked

"Well…" Mom looked at me and then away.

"No no no no no no ewwww oh geez!" I said in embarrassment.

Mom let out a slight giggle. "Oh…" Amber said with a slight blush. This was not the day I expected to ever find out that… didn't really want to ever find that out! Yuck.

"Anyway I'll leave you two alone now," Mom said walking out of the room, closing the door behind her.

"See? Even my mother has had trouble defending herself with this stuff… I'll never leave your side Amber. I promise that," I said nuzzling into her.

"Your father is really nice…" Amber said

"Nice… and he'll stand up for what he believes in," I said.

"Like father like son," Amber said nuzzling me. I went to kiss her cheek but missed and I accidentally kissed her neck, she replied with a purr to the likes I had never heard. The look on her face changed and she had a strange look in her eyes, it made me feel strange, a good kind of strange.

"Amber are you feeling oka…" She began kissing me with more passion than she had before. We broke away and looked into each other's eyes, my heart began to hammer against my chest, almost pulling me toward her. "Someone had something they had to let out?" I asked slightly nervous with this strange feeling that ran from my head to my… oh deer. I began to blush and placed my front legs in front to cover it. How embarrassing. Amber walked over to me and kissed me again.

"Thank you Thunder… I don't know what I would do without you," she said now hugging me. My heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest at any moment.

"Y-yeah no problem," I said still blushing a deep shade of red and feeling it grow further. Dammit.

"Ever since that first encounter in Team Flare's base, I knew I could rely on you, I… felt things I never had before. I am feeling new feelings now…" She said blushing a deep red and shying away from eye contact. She moved next to me, where she was sitting now slightly damp. Did she pee? No… this is something different. "I-I don't know how to say this without it sounding so sudden…" Amber said blushing an even deeper shade of red. "Would you… I mean you don't have to if you don't want to… d-do you want to… have sex?" She asked, causing her blush to grow a deeper red. My body mirrored this, I felt my heart somehow beat faster and my blush to grow deeper and a strange, but nice feeling shiver ran down my spine.

"Sure," I said before kissing her cheek.
