Mako's Message: Okay, so, there's not much here, but hey! At least it's on time, right? That's something at least.
Anyway...not really much to say about this holiday except, if you're going to drink, drink safely.
And go visit Andrew W. K.'s Facebook page for all the party tips you could ever need.
"Are you going to be drinking tonight?"
Mindy blinked then looked up from her book as Marcus put his jacket on before leaving, "No. I'm going patrolling tonight."
"So no parties or anything?"
Mindy shook her head. "Nope. We were thinking about having one, but realized we'll probably be out too late. I'll probably crash at the safehouse."
Marcus "hmph"'d
Mindy's gaze turned curious, "Does this mean you're okay with me drinking?"
Marcus scoffed, "The last thing I want is to see you drunk. But I've learned that there's almost nothing I can do to stop you from doing something. I just want to know how much I should be worrying."
Mindy grinned, "Well, don't worry much more than normal. Sure, we're more likely to find someone starting trouble tonight, but they'll probably be drunk off their ass and that much easier to handle."
"Don't underestimate a drunk," Marcus said, suddenly very serious, "You can never be sure what they'll do."
"Trust me Marcus, I can handle it," Mindy said.
"Well, you know I worry about you," he said, and walked over and kissed her on top of her head, "So stay as safe as possible, alright?" he said as he left for his shift.
"I should be more worried about you!" she called after him, smirking. She turned back to her book and tried to find her place...but visions of her getting Dave all nice and liquored up had started dancing through her head and she started smiling for entirely different reasons.
Later, at the safehouse, Mindy was just finishing lacing up her boot when Dave suddenly said, "Oh! I almost forgot." Mindy looked over at Dave as he quickly went over to his bag and stared rummaging through it. After a moment he said, "Close your eyes."
"Why?"
"I have a surprise for you."
Mindy raised an eyebrow, "A good surprise?"
"Yes, a good surprise," and Mindy could hear him rolling his eyes.
"Okay then," and she closed her eyes and waited patiently.
A few seconds later something cold suddenly pressed against her cheek and then was gone. She opened her eyes but Dave was already hiding whatever it was back in his bag, "What was that?" she demanded, touching her face and then looking at her fingers. She frowned when she saw a little bit of green on her fingers.
She rushed into the bathroom to look in the mirror and saw a shamrock stamped on her face, "What the hell is this?!"
"Just a precaution," Dave said, smiling at her while leaning against the door frame.
"You bastard," she said, looking at him through narrowed eyes.
"C'mon," he said, jerking his head towards the door, "Let's get out there."
Mindy rolled her eyes but decided to just go with it. After all, if it kept her from having another bottle thrown at her again she supposed she could put up with it.
She headed for the door and Dave stepped aside to let her go first. Just as she reached for the knob he said, "Oh, one more thing."
She turned to look at him and his fingers caught her under her chin and tilted her face up as he leaned in and planted a kiss just to the side of her mouth.
Her eyes went wide with shock as he pulled away then brushed past her and out the door.
"What was that for?" she asked, quickly catching up with him.
"Oh ya know, 'Kiss Me I'm Irish' and all that."
She slowed her pace just a little as Dave picked his up and smirked at him; she knew he knew damn well she was Scottish.
But if it meant getting kisses she supposed she could let it slide.
