Solitary Shell

Danny walked into the office one Monday morning, to find it blissfully quiet. He walked to the mail slots, grabbed his delivery for the day and then settled down to start the work week in peace and quiet.

The peace lasted no more than five minutes, when Steve burst into the office, threw himself into the seat before Danny's desk and bounced his knees impatiently.

"Danny, come on its Monday we have to get a move on!" Steve stated a smile plastered across his face.

"Why are we moving? What's going on? Do you have a case?" Danny asked.

"No, we have to find one, so let's go!" Steve said and jumped up again.

"Whoa, I'm not going looking for something, I have enough with my mail, my paperwork and a court appearance to prep for, to be busy till at least noon, and I know you have paper work you haven't filed yet. So wait for the case to come to you and get caught up on some of the other stuff." Danny said and turned back to the file he had opened and started filling in.

"But that's no fun," Steve sighed and fell into the chair again.

"It's not supposed to be fun, its work," Danny laughed, "you are one messed up individual McGarrett, besides, its Monday morning, you have all week to get a case to carry out."

"Monday is the best day of the week because you can start afresh on something new. I love Mondays!" Steve stated, "So come on, lets go find ourselves a mystery!"

"All in good time, my dear Watson, all in good time," Danny stated and folded his hands on his desk.

"Oh god, my father used to say that," Steve sighed.

"Maybe you should actually read a book," Danny suggested.

Steve sighed dramatically, "I read."

"You are a mystery in yourself, McGarrett. I think you are quite possibly the only person, in the world, who likes Monday morning and going to work." Danny laughed.

"I'm a solitary shell on a vast and changing tide," Steve stated dramatically.

"And apparently you are also a poet," Danny laughed and shooed his partner out of the office.
