Author's Note (Monster): Hello, our lovelies! Don't mind me, just marking my territory by updating the oldest story I've got. I wrote this chapter in about an hour? Decided it was finally time to revive the story. I'm still working on finishing Puzzle The Pieces but I also want to work out a plan for Kidnapped to make sure I don't abandon it for another 1.5 years... I know I said the same last time but I mean it this time. Replies to the review below, enjoy!
Previously on Kidnapped;
Charlie woke up with amnesia after surgery
Charlie wasn't speaking. After he woke up, he had a few days to heal from surgery at the hospital. During those god-awful days, he hadn't spoken much. He didn't know what to tell them. He lost years of his memory and the doctor had said it might not be the best thing to tell him everything that had happened over the past few years so they had only answered a couple of questions.
"So", Charlie blinked confused, looking up at Johnny. Johnny seemed to be the safe choice to rest his gaze on since J-Dog seemed to be affected by questions about Deuce, Da Kurlzz looked like he'd seen a ghost and Funny Man was sticking to this 'Danny' he didn't even know. "Deuce was kicked out and replaced by Danny?"
"Yes. That happened in 2009-2010."
The bandana rapper had nodded. "And I'm engaged to Matt?"
"Yes", Da Kurlzz said. "Since the day of the accident. Yesterday. We got engaged in the morning."
"But we've been dating for years?"
"Yeah."
That was all Charlie had dared to ask. He hadn't asked about the how, the why, the what. Just the basics he needed to know to prevent any more of this confusion. His mind was a mess. He needed time to deal with this.
Several days later, he was finally released on Day 76. Matt was the one to pick him up. The others had decided not to come along since the two would have a lot to talk about. Besides, Danny and Funny took it upon themselves to inform the police of the whole 'Shady Jeff wants to burn them'-thing. Johnny and J-Dog were meeting the manager about what they could salvage from the exploded bus and the overall paperwork of what happened for the insurance.
"Hey", Charlie nodded when he saw Matt outside the door of the hospital. Out of his peripheral vision, he could see the scars on his own arms from surgery and when the drummer looked him in the eye, he was painfully aware of the scar on his cheek. There was a sad look on his face. "Don't pity me."
"What?"
The bandana rapper shrugged. "I see that look on your face. You're pitying my scars."
Matt made a face. "I wasn't… That's not what that look was."
"It was a sad one. That's for sure", Charlie huffed, lighting a cigarette and Matt didn't understand how he could smoke after getting out of a bad fire. He guided him to his car. "Jordon, you don't remember our entire relationship. I'm allowed to be sad about that."
Charlie flinched when he managed it, still not used to the fact they were dating…used to date? He stomped on his cigarette to put it out and slammed the car door shut once he was inside. Matt sat down behind the wheel. The drive home was quiet and eerie. Neither of the two knew what to say to the other in fear of saying something wrong but that mindset only made things worse so when they arrived at their home, Charlie stepped outside to stare at the house. "Whose place is this?"
"Ours."
"Ours", Charlie repeated, blinking. "I don't… recognize it, sorry."
He'd wanted Matt to say something like 'that's fine' but the drummer kept his mouth shut. He pulled a bag out of the trunk, most likely filled with personal belongings Charlie was carrying with him at the time of the fire. Even his burnt clothes. He sighed and trailed behind Matt, a little lost as they stepped into the house. None of the surroundings triggered any memories. Not the stairs in the hallway, not the living room, not the kitchen, not the bedroom. Matt noticed Charlie walking closely behind him into every room as Matt was emptying the bag and putting stuff away. "You can explore the house, Jordon, it's ours."
Charlie nodded, pulling away from Matt to go look around. He skimmed bookshelves, pictures of Matt and him together above the fireplace. They seemed happy together. The pictures confirmed the obvious to Charlie. He had hoped that the guys were pulling a trick on him and that this entire 'memory loss'-thing was just a prank. Maybe they hired 'Danny' and they came up with Da Kurlzz and him dating to mess with him but it wasn't a joke when he saw those pictures.
Their relationship was very real.
"Who's this?" Charlie asked, gazing at a group picture of the band. Danny was in it too.
Da Kurlzz came closer to stand next to him and stared at the same picture. "Johnny's daughter, Ava."
"Jesus. She's much older than I remember", Charlie muttered. He stepped further along the wall, finding the radio with cd's lying around. He frowned and crouched to pick one up. "Notes From The Underground?"
"We released it in 2013", Matt replied.
Charlie skimmed through the cd's. "American Tragedy…"
"2010", Matt muttered. "The first album with Danny."
Charlie clenched his jaw and put the cd of American Tragedy into the cd player. "I need to hear this. It's only 2 years after the memories I have."
He skimmed through the songs on there, face shifting through all sorts of emotions when he heard himself, Johnny, J-Dog, even Danny, Funny Man… He changed the cd to Notes From The Underground, movements a little frantic, fingers quivering as he held the cd. "Five years after the blank spot in my mind. Were we-..Were we dating then?"
"Yeah."
He skimmed through the songs and stopped at Outside. He was utterly lost without these memories. He sat down by the radio. "This is our band? With Danny?"
"Yes. Not too shabby, is it?"
"No, but… I want to remember", Charlie sighed.
Matt sat down next to him and put an arm around his shoulder. "You will, Jordon, you'll remember the music we made."
Charlie looked up. "I want to remember us too. I see the way you look at me. You love me and from the pictures it looks like I loved you too, but I want to remember it, you know? I don't want to fake it."
"You will. You'll regain all memories soon enough. Of us, of Danny, of everything", Matt hushed him.
Charlie looked away. "But what if I don't?"
Please Review, they're our heavy fuel! To this day, Kidnapped is STILL my most popular story aside from the one-shots in Love Drabbles. Maybe because Kidnapped was my first story from back in 2013-2014...
or because people LOVE to see Deuce kidnap Danny.
Once Kidnapped is finished, I will most likely start working on Kidnapped Remastered. As I mentioned above, Kidnapped was my first story from waaay back and I feel like a lot of it is not only outdated, but also poorly written. Either way, I'm not THAT proud of what I made out of it so I may rewrite it once it's finished. Of course, Kidnapped will not end just yet.
HUshipper: Funny, I was having computer troubles at the time.
AceTheSquishy: I feel bad for leaving you out in the dark about this story for 1.5 years...
ZeroPerfection: The only reason Shady was in the psych ward, was to make him a psycho pyromaniac who would explode the bus. Hope you're doing well, love.
Blake: It hasn't ended yet! I promise the ending will be waaaay better.
