Aaron arrives at JJ's house. He sees the large four door blue dodge ram pickup truck in the driveway. He pulls in behind it. Part of him is ready to reprimand her for coming alone. The other part wants to hold her hand and ease her suffering. The reprimand part is winning out as he parks and climbs out of his SUV. As he gets to the front entry door, he notices it open ajar. Then his suspicions raise. He draws his firearm. He pushes it open slightly.
"JJ, are you here?" Aaron calls into the house. He can smell the decay of a corpse. He opens the door and quickly goes room to room. "JJ, are you here?" Aaron pulls out his phone and calls 911. As he gets to her bedroom, he finds the old man's body.
"911, what's your emergency?" The female dispatcher asks, calmly.
"This is Special Supervisory Agent Aaron Hotchner with the FBI. I need to report a murder, kidnapping and request back up at 2537 E. Washington Ave. The kidnapping is another FBI agent that is my subordinate. The gentleman here is dead and has been for some time. Sadly, the kidnapper took his life. So I'll need the corner. When I'm done with you I will be calling my team as well. So you might want to inform the officers on the way. Also the chief of police knows the case and this man has killed a detective already." Aaron hangs up and calls Derek.
"Morgan." Derek answers.
"Derek! He's got JJ! Get all the others here ASAP. We have to find her fast. We have no idea what this mad man wants. He killed an old man and left him in JJ's bedroom. I'm going to kill him Derek. I still can't figure out why she came to her house alone. We were going to come by after I dropped Jack off at 4. God that woman drives me nuts sometimes! She had to know it was dangerous to come alone. Her father called me after she left. He had a feeling something was going to happen," Aaron stops a second. "Oh, I have to call John. Just get the team and get here ASAP!" Aaron hangs up and dials John's cell phone.
"Hello?" John answers.
"John, it's me Aaron. I'm at JJ's house. She's gone. Your truck is here, but she's not. There's an old man here. He's dead. Looks to have been dead for at least 24 hours or more." Aaron says, at a loss as what to say.
"Must be Casper Webber. The next door neighbor. He loved Jenny like a granddaughter. He always watched her house when she was out on a case. He always left fresh flowers from his flower garden to please Jenny. She must be heart broken. That bastard better not hurt my Jenny or her baby. I won't hesitate to kill him even if I go to jail forever. What are you doing to find her?" John asks, trying to keep calm and focused.
"Well, I called 911. I also called the team. Then I called you. So far all I know is she didn't leave by your vehicle. So he has her in his or a stolen vehicle. As soon as the police get here to protect the scene, then I'm going door to door to see if anyone saw her or a strange vehicle. When Garcia gets here I'll have her check street cams around here and go from there. I need you and Abby to stay put in case JJ or her kidnapper call or show up. Keep yourself armed. Abby too. We don't want another person kidnapped. Maybe you can search through Melody's journals for a clue. Maybe this has to do with that rape kit ticket. Get Abby in on this. We need more eyes in different places. The more we have searching for who this is, the better off we are. Call me with anything that might help. I'll call with any info." Aaron hangs up.
The police and corner show up. A cop comes over to Aaron. "Hello sir. What is going on?" The middle aged man asks.
"Officer Nash, my agent lives here. I'm sure you know what happened here a little over a month ago. Detective Tom Gilbert was murdered here. The murderer was never caught. Now he's kidnapped Tom Gilbert's girlfriend. Who also happens to be an FBI agent under my direction. It looks as if he killed her neighbor, Casper Webber. We have no clue what he wants or has planned. She's pregnant with Tom's baby. So it's even more important to get her back unharmed. My team is on their way. We'd like to work this case jointly please. Maybe if we had with Tom's murder than his murderer would be able to be tried with solid evidence. Not saying it's anyone's fault, but we need to put this cop/FBI feud away. We both are here to serve and protect." Aaron tries to grease some wheels to get JJ back as fast as possible.
"Agent Hotchner, we don't mind help. But we have to know who is in charge of the case. You know we have to have someone to take ownership for the bureaucrats. I'm sure for your subordinate. Tom would have been a great father. It will be nice to see a mini Tom running around." Officer Nash says, ushering the corner and photographer through for Mr. Webber's body. Just then a few cars pull up to the curb. The BAU team rush to Aaron.
"Hey Hotch, what do we know?" Derek asks.
"Just that she's gone. Why don't you start knocking on neighbors' doors to see if they saw anything. If that's good with Officer Nash here." Aaron directs attention to the officer next to him.
"I think that's helpful. Leaves more of my men to protect the crime scene and focus on clues. Thank you all. Let's meet back here in 1 hour." Officer Nash says.
"Thank you Officer Nash." Aaron says, shaking his hand. Then Aaron moves to talk to his team alone. "Remember, we have to work with these people. For JJ's sake and the sake of every piece of evidence. So play ball. JJ's life depends on it and the conviction of this mad man. If she survives." Aaron says, praying that JJ and the baby are ok and stay that way.
"Pen's at home with her babies. She's looking at street cams. But it would help to have a vehicle make or model. Maybe a license number. Just something." Derek says
"Well, let's canvas the neighborhood. Except that house," Aaron points to the house on the left. "He's dead in JJ's bedroom. Take good notes and ask the right questions." Aaron says, walking to a house. He knocks.
"Who is it?" A young woman asks through the door.
"Ma'am, I'm FBI agent Aaron Hotchner. I need to ask you some questions about earlier this morning. Could you open the door so we can talk please?" Aaron opens his badge wallet to show her he is a FBI agent. She opens the door. "Thank you. Did you see a man talking to Ms. Jareau this morning?" Aaron asks.
"Just the police officer. Officer Witely. He's been watching her house to see if that monster comes back. That poor woman. What's happened now?" She asks.
"Mr. Webber was found dead in her home. And she's missing. Did you see Ms. Jareau with this Officer Witely?"
"Yes. I'd say about 30, 35 minutes ago. If that. It looked as if she was faint or something because he was holding her up. Her back to his chest." She states calmly.
"Was he holding anything in his hand? Gun, knife, taser or something that could have been a weapon?" Aaron asks, his fear level rising.
"It looked like something dark in color. Black or dark blue. I thought it was a cell phone." She seemed to be grasping the situation.
"Did Ms. Jareau look upset or hurt?" Aaron asks, hanging on her every word.
"I couldn't tell from here. I thought she was with a cop so she was in capable hands. I'm sorry."
She says, starting to close the door.
"Wait! What color was the vehicle he was driving? Do you know what make or model the vehicle was?" Aaron asks with desperation.
"It was a four door sedan. That odd gold, tan-ish color. I'd say it was around a 92 or 93 Crown Victoria. Something like that. Sorry, I'm not good with cars." She says, sadly.
"Did you see the plates?"
"I did think it was weird to see a local cop with Louisiana plates." She exclaims.
"Thank you ma'am." Aaron turns and rushes away. He grabs his phone.
"Yes, speak." Penelope answers her phone.
"Garcia, I have some clues for your babies. Officer Witely. W…I…T…E…L…Y. The car is a gold, bronze or tan. Four door sedan. Possibly early to mid-90's. Possibly a Crown Victoria. With plates from Louisiana. It was about 30 to 40 minutes ago. I'm going to call John and ask about anyone from Louisiana. He doesn't have that much of a head start. If we know what direction he's heading we can set up road blocks." Aaron thinks out loud.
"But if he's a cop or pretending to be a cop, can't he get through a road block?" Penelope asks.
"Not if we make sure no one that is a cop gets through. Do your best work yet Garcia. Then get back to me. And did I ask for it yesterday?" Aaron says, looking at all the houses. All the team members.
"Wait! What was the officers name that did JJ's friends rap kit?" Aaron asks.
"Not sure sir. I will try to find out. Call you back shortly sir. Out!" Penelope hangs up. As does Hotch.
Hotch whispers, "Hang on JJ. We'll find you. Just hang on. Tom and Melody, watch over her. Keep them safe."
