Summer Solstice – Tony Stark
It had been about a year since the Avengers had saved all of us from the alien like creatures that were trying to invade our planet and just a few weeks ago I had managed to completely start my flower and plant business afresh by rebuilding the shop and growing all the plants myself. I dropped out of high school and I didn't want to go to college, I just knew that I wanted to own my own flower shop. It was like the nature was calling to me with their own special song, so I answered.
I loved seeing the looks on people's faces when they walked into my store; I loved the looks of wonder as they looked at the different vibrant and pastel colours of the plants and flowers. Most asked which country I have them all imported from and I always smile at their expressions when I reply I grew everything myself.
I tucked a wavy strand of hair behind my ear as I finished tucking the roses into a neat bouquet and gave them to the elderly man who came in every Monday to buy roses for his wife. I loved that some men were still gentlemanly and also the fact that he had been doing the same thing for over forty years warmed my young heart.
A group of boys a little older than myself came barging through the door and knocked over a display, making me frown as the beautiful flowers were strewn across the floor and getting trampled on by their ignorance. I walked over and managed to shoo all of them out before crouching down and picking up the flowers which were not squished from their arrogant actions. A slightly larger hand brushed against mine as it reached for the same rose and I looked up to see a slightly older man with chocolate brown eyes helping me.
I felt a warm blush spread across my cheekbones as I retracted my hand and it darkened as he picked up the pink rose and offered it to me. I took it gingerly between my delicate fingers and stood up after picking up all the remaining flowers from the floor, making him follow my actions.
"Thank you." I said quietly, making him smile.
"Tony Stark." He held out his hand for me to shake and I did after I shifted the flowers to the crook of my other arm.
"Evelynn Rose." I replied softly.
"A beautiful name for a pretty girl." He smiled, making my cheeks feel like they were on fire due to the heat flowing through them. "This is your shop, right? I've seen you in here before, but it looks refurbished." He walked around with me as I cleared up the mess the boys had made and nodded my head.
"Yes, I had it rebuilt as it got destroyed from the attack a year ago. All my plants got crushed and killed." I said sadly, remembering the destruction I walked into when it was redeemed safe to go back outside into the city. "I had to grow all of them again. More flowers are demanded around the summer solstice time."
"Ah, that's next week am I right?" I nodded again and giggled softly at the triumphant smile on his face.
"That's right." I smiled, preparing another display for the window space.
"And, are you doing anything for that evening?" I glanced up at him to see him leaning on his forearms on the counter where I was cutting down the stems of the flowers. I shook my head with a small smile which made him grin. "Well, would you do me the honour of being my little rose for the night?"
"I wouldn't mind at all." I replied shyly, blushing as I looked at him through my fringe.
