Ch.50: Don't Tell Them

Kendall and James returned to the hotel feeling overjoyed and relaxed due to the alone time they'd been able to get together.

Things seemed to be running rather smoothly for them lately.

"I'm glad we got to spend some time together," James said honestly as they headed back.

"Me too," Kendall replied, smiling "You were right, James, spending some time away from our families has been...a nice change,"

They smiled at each other, silently acknowledging once again, how very much in love they were.

"We should go find Carlos and Logan," James said as soon as they got to the hotel.

Kendall nodded.

"Wonder if Logan actually managed to find Carlos, though," he said, thoughtful "He seemed pretty upset..."

"Well...not anymore," James said slowly, his eyes widening.

Kendall followed his gaze, shocked by what he saw.

Carlos and Logan were walking towards them looking extremely happy, giggly, and never letting go of each other's hand.

Every few seconds or so, they looked back at each other, blushed and giggled some more, as if they shared some naughty little secret that only they knew about.

"Oh, hey guys," Carlos said, stopping once they saw their friends "When did you get back?"

"Just did," James said, still in shock by his friends' sudden good mood "What's up with you guys? Why are you so happy all of a sudden?"

"Oh um, nothing," Carlos said with a giggle as he and Logan looked mysteriously at each other.

"We just realized we loved each other very very much..." Logan said very seriously before he and Carlos broke down into another fit of giggles, never letting go of the other's hand.

Something glinted in the light and caught Kendall's immediate attention.

"What's that?" Kendall asked, catching Logan's hand and holding it close to take a better look "Logan, what is this?"

"It's a ring," Logan said with a giggle.

"A wedding band..." James said slowly, once he looked at it properly, "Logan what's going on? Where were you guys?"

"At a wedding," Carlos answered simply and with a nonchalant shrug.

"Whose?" Kendall asked, his eyes widening.

"Ours," Logan answered softly.

Silence followed as the four friends regarded one another, waiting to see who would blow up first.

"Please tell me this isn't happening," Kendall whispered finally, then raised his voice "What did you do?"

"Well, we rented and a limo and then got to the chapel and-" Carlos began listing but Kendall interrupted, fuming.

"No, what did you do?!" He exclaimed.

Carlos and Logan cringed but looked at their leader determinedly.

They had taken a decision together and they did not regret it.

"You guys are married?" James asked softly.

Logan nodded.

"What were you thinking?!" The blonde hissed at them, obviously irritated "After everything Gustavo and Kelly have done for you guys, and your parents-"

"We were thinking," Carlos interrupted him firmly "That we were going to do things our own way, in our own terms, without anyone having a say on how we run our relationship except us..."

That effectively made Kendall shut up. After all, he knew what it felt like to feel obligated to do something he didn't want to do. It's what had ruined his and James' engagement after all.

"So that's it? All the wedding preparations and the invites, everything...it just goes down the drain?" James asked, eyebrows raised.

And with maybe just a tad-bit of well-hidden pain.

"Well, no, not exactly..." Logan said, fidgeting uncomfortably "I mean, we can't exactly tell our parents that we got hitched in Vegas, can we?"

"So then what? You go through with the ceremony until the last part where they bring out your marriage certificates for you to sign and find out you're already married?" Kendall asked, eyebrows raised.

"Or," Logan said "We can tell them we signed those before the ceremony so we wouldn't have to deal with paperwork...and nobody else would need to know about this..."

More silence.

"It's worth a shot, really," James said logically, after a while, breaking the silence, "I mean, nobody knows about this except us for now..."

"I still don't think this was a good idea," Kendall said with a sigh "But okay, we'll do it your way, Logan, we'll cover for you guys,"

"Thanks," Carlos said, brightening up.

More silence.

"So, um, Carlos and I were just about to go to our room and have a very special wedding night," Logan said finally, attempting to ease some of the tension "You guys want to come join us?"

That actually made all four of them laugh, albeit a bit nervously.

"Wow, that was the worst pick-up line I've ever heard," James said, still giggling.

"And yet it's still short and sweet and to the point," Logan said, sticking his tongue out playfully at James.

"And yet we're still going to have to say no," Kendall said with a dramatic sigh.

"Wha- but you guys promised you'd be with us on our wedding night!" Carlos said with a sad pout.

"We didn't expect it to be under these circumstances," James explained logically.

"What does it matter? It's a hotel...we'd be all alone..." Carlos said suggestively.

"With Gustavo and Kelly right down the hall and having an early flight tomorrow morning?" Kendall asked, eyebrows raised "Somehow, I don't think that's a good idea..."

"Aw, you're no fun," Logan said but he smiled at his friends in an understanding manner.

"Sorry, Loges, 'Los, it'll have to be another time..." James said apologetically.

"Okay then," Logan said as he held out his hand for his new husband to take and led him to their bedroom.

"See you guys in the morning!" Carlos called back to them.

"Will do! And don't stay up too late!" Kendall warned as he and James also entered THEIR room.

Carlos and Logan only laughed at this and made their way inside...

(The next day...)

"Logie bear! I missed you!" Joanna Mitchell exclaimed, rushing to embrace her son.

"Carlitos!" Sylvia Garcia exclaimed as she and her husband both embraced their son.

"Where's dad?" Logan said, looking around for his father.

"He had to go back to Minnesota dear, something went wrong in the company and they needed him," Joanna Mitchell said kindly "He'll be back in a few days though,"

"Okay," Logan said with a shrug, hugging his mother even more.

And maybe just a tad-bit guilty that he was now married and she didn't know it yet.

However, that feeling didn't last very long.

"Carlos dear, I hope you don't mind, I made a couple more changes while you were gone," Joanna Mitchell said in a sing-song voice.

Carlos' smile seemed frozen in place, like he was working very hard to keep it that way and not snap at his mother-in-law.

"What now, mom?" Logan said exasperated "The theme, the dress, the food and the wedding invites weren't enough for you?"

"Oh pl-ease honey, Carlos doesn't mind, right dear?" Joanna said, waving a hand dismissively in Carlos' direction.

Carlos nodded stiffly.

"Besides," Joanna continued "I know a lot more about planning weddings than you boys...you are, after all, still children..."

"What did you change now, mom?" Logan said, struggling hard to remain civilized and not snap at his mother. He could see how her attitude still hurt Carlos and, furthermore, he knew his mother well enough to know she was doing all that just to make Carlos miserable.

"Your father and I thought a wedding at night was just too gloomy...why not have a wedding in broad daylight? It IS a beach wedding after all...let's enjoy the sun and the beach!" Joanna said in an overly-enthusiastic voice.

"B-But we'd already picked out the pattern for the evening lights and we had the flowered arch we were getting married in!" Logan exclaimed.

"Oh Logie, what's a few lights and some petty flowers? A daylight wedding is so much brighter!" Joanna said with a wide smile.

She then walked away, leaving Carlos and Logan staring at her incredulously.

"I guess I can see what you meant," Kendall said, shocked as well.

James nodded.

Carlos and Logan only sighed miserably, holding tightly to each other's hand.

"Cheer up, man, just think...it's only a ceremony, you guys are already married..." James said logically.

"True," Carlos said, offering his husband a tired smile.

Logan smiled back at him.

"You guys are adorable," Kendall said, smiling as he rolled his eyes at them "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go down to the set...Elena needs me to shoot some scenes and I've been neglecting NTH way too much lately..."

"I'll go with you," James offered immediately "I love to see you work..."

"Can we trust you guys not to get into any more trouble while we're gone?" Kendall asked, eyebrows raised.

"Sure, we promised Jett and Dak we'd hang out with them today anyways...Dak and Carlos wanted to go see Avengers 2: Age of Ultron..." Logan said with a shrug.

"Sounds like fun, we'll see you guys later!" Kendall called out as he and James made their way to the Palm Woods' parking lot.

"Remember, not a word about-this" Carlos said, gesturing to himself and Logan.

"Of course," Kendall muttered as he and James left.

(With James and Kendall...)

"I thought we were going to the NTH set," James said confusedly as Kendall pulled up in front of Rocque Records.

"We are," Kendall replied as he got out of the car "I just had to make a little detour first..."

"Why? Is something wrong with our album?" James asked, anxiously.

"No," Kendall said "Something's wrong with Carlos and Logan's wedding..."

James rolled his eyes.

"Many things are wrong with that thing, Kendall, beginning by Carlos and Logan's mothers..." He said.

"Exactly," Kendall said "They've had way too much of a say in this whole matter and it's making Carlos and Logan miserable..."

"I don't really see why it matters, anymore, they're married, aren't they?"James said, arms crossed.

"Yes," Kendall acknowledged.

"And let me remind you that Gustavo knows nothing about their impromptu elopement...is coming here really a good idea?" James asked, worriedly.

Kendall shrugged.

"What Gustavo and Kelly don't know won't kill them I guess," he said" Even if they ARE married...don't you think it'd be a thousand times better if they had a nice ceremony to remember it? Don't you think Carlos and Logan deserve that at least?"

"But it's almost done, Kendall, they're getting married in two weeks, we can't change the whole thing in two weeks!" James replied.

"Who says I hadn't thought of this before?" Kendall answered with a mysterious smile "Now come on, come inside, I want to show you what Kelly and I have secretly been planning..."

"Wait, Carlos and Logan got angry with their parents for trying to plan their wedding for them and, to solve it,you went ahead and re-planned the entire wedding for them too? Without asking them first?" James asked skeptically "I'm not sure I can see how that's any better..."

Kendall laughed.

"Can you just trust me on this?" He said "Now, c'mon..."

James sighed but let Kendall lead him inside Rocque Records, wondering what sort of trouble his boyfriend had been brewing up...

(With Carlos and Logan...)

"I had fun, didn't you?" Logan asked his boyfriend as they made their way up to 2J after having seen the movie with Dak and Jett.

"Yes I did," Carlos replied "But Logan...there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about..."

"Which is?" Logan said, stopping to look back at his boyfriend.

"Our wedding," Carlos said with a sigh.

"What about it?" Logan asked.

"Well, you know we're already married ..." Carlos began.

"Yes..." Logan said slowly.

"So-so what IS the point of us going through this farce anyways?" Carlos said agitatedly "It doesn't really matter anymore..."

"Yes, we know that, Carlos, but our parents don't..."Logan said quickly "The whole purpose of the elopement was for it to be secret..."

"But what if we're making a big, selfish mistake by keeping our secret?" Carlos asked, biting his lip apprehensively.

"What do you mean?" Logan asked him, curiously.

"Kendall and James," Carlos said simply.

"What about them?" Logan asked, confused.

"C'mon! You know they're dying to get married!" Carlos exclaimed "Every single time our wedding comes up, James gets this wistful look in his eyes and whenever Katie or any of us to to Rocque Records for our fittings, Kendall looks at James with a bit of regret...it was their wedding, Logan. It is their wedding. It's been their wedding all along and we're taking it from them and we don't even want it..."

"Carlos," Logan said gently, taking his boyfriend's hand "Baby, that might've been true at the beginning...it was their wedding, Carlos, it was. But now my mother...and you're mother too...they've made so many different changes and if we don't like them and they're our mothers...what makes you think James and Kendall would prefer that?"

Carlos shook his head obstinately.

"I can see it in their eyes, Logie," he said "They just want to be married...they don't care how..."

"If that were the case, they would've been the ones eloping in Vegas, not us," Logan said logically.

"I just wish there was something we could do for them..." Carlos sighed sadly "It feels like-like-"

"We're living someone else's dream?" Logan guessed sympathetically.

Carlos nodded.

"More specifically...our best friends' dream," he said softly.

"We'll find some way to make it up to them," Logan said determinedly "You'll see..."

Carlos smiled at his boyfriend, hopeful that the two of them could come up with a way to finally make things right...

A/N: So...Cargan is officially married but their parents have no idea! How will this turn out for them? Was it a good idea? Is it indeed selfish of them to keep up pretenses instead of giving their wedding to Kames? Is Kames even ready to get married this time? And what about Logan's addiction, his upcoming baby and other problems? Will they cause any more problems or will his (secret) marriage keep him sane?

The answer to these and more questions coming up in later chapters so stay tuned!
