Once Upon A Time Part 1
I was working on homework when I looked out the window. There was a young girl in the middle of the street. She was pulling against something; demons. It had to be, I jumped out of my window onto the tree and easily down onto the street. I ran to the screaming girl. I could see the little trolls trying to get her box. I easily fried them as my mom and aunt Phoebe and Piper came running out of the Manor. They had nearly seen the girl get hit by a car.
"How did you do that?" she asked bewildered.
"Magic," I said showing her my wings. She gasped and smiled, then jumped with joy. I hid my wings because I received a disapproving look from my mother but she said nothing to me. She spoke to the girl then we took her home. She mentioned fairies and I saw my mom look to her sisters. They knew of me and pixies but not fairies. Her parents were relieved and later I was with her in her room.
Kate had asked for me to stay, saying I was a good friend, and her parents soon trusted me. My mom left a bit concerned but told me to get to home at ten the next morning.
She opened her box to reveal that small fairy slept inside. I knew her kind, they hid in trees, played tricks on people. They mainly enjoyed themselves but they were hunted for their power, for their crown. The fairy was pretty, young looking when really she was probably 100s of years old. She was royalty of course Kate explained to me. She told me about in betweens, and trolls. She reminded me of Gwen. I could see the trolls in the doorway, as I always could. But they left me alone, I was an elemental faery, they wouldn't dare touch me not without the fear of dying. I instantly fried all the ones in the doorway too.
"Your mother didn't believe me, nor did her sisters," Kate finally said.
"No, but I'll talk to them."
"They need to see the trolls." I shrugged not knowing how to get them to see the trolls.
"I could make them think like children again," she said.
"No! That's dangerous my mom fights demons for a living I don't want her getting hurt."
"Okay, another idea then," she said but she soon fell asleep. I woke up and everything seemed large around me.
"This might be more comfortable," Kate said picking a shrunken me and placing me in a doll house.
"Kate! What'd you do to me!"
"Actually I did it to you. To make the Charmed Ones understand." I narrowed my eyes at the fairy.
"There were other ways. What do I do now? How can I get home?"
"I'll be taking you home. In this lantern. I'm told my parents I'm going out with you. They'll see trolls now." I transformed in my fae form lighting up the doll house.
"Change me back!" I shouted, squeaking.
"You're so cute, and not until the princess is safe. She'll be with you at your house."
"My people are in danger if I'm captured," the princess said.
"Why can't you fairies learn to fight for yourself. I did. Pixies did. Why can't you do the same?" I spat at the girl. Her eyes narrowed.
"We do not fight. It's against our nature. Unlike Faeries, we have some decency and we act proper."
"I can be proper!" I said. This was partially true. I could be proper but was horrible at it. I knocked over cups of tea, tripped in heels, and knew nothing about a place setting.
"Sure you can," the fairy said cooling as we went into a lantern. I shone brighter than she. My wings were larger than hers. Somehow we ended up at the Manor. My aunt Phoebe answered the door and saw me instantly.
"Oh my God!" she said noticing my size, "Prue!" She ushered Kate in and closed the door.
"What is it?" then my mom said Oh my God. The princess, whose name I had yet to learn, and I walked on the coffee table. I walked into the palms of my mom's hands. She brought me to her face.
"Do you see the trolls now?" I asked and she laughed at my high voice.
"Please help them so I can be normal again," and with her laugh again I started to cry.
"Mother, please," I cried. She became serious.
"Oh Estelle," she said, "We will help Kate. Don't worry. You'll be normal again, I promise. I'm sure Piper can cook some potion up."
"Yeah, Piper could," Phoebe said, "You're so cute. I have the prefect place for you two to stay." She ended taking us to the attic. She pulled out a doll house that looked exactly like the Manor. We entered then, the house was surrounded by crystals. We were protected and I was stuck with Princess No name. Just great. The sisters returned Kate home, from what I assumed. They could see trolls now. I paced the doll house, finding a sewing room. I remember making dresses for Gwen and smiled. I found a small bolt of fabric and made a new dress for myself. By not using the machine the princess finally revealed her name. Her name was Thistle. She showed me how to use the machine and the dress was done much quicker. Maybe this fairy wasn't so bad after all.
"Prue, I really don't have time for hunting," Piper said firstly when the two sisters and Kate entered the club. She then noticed the kid.
"She can't be here," she said obviously annoyed and didn't want to deal with anything magic related.
"Kate, and all these fairies need help," Phoebe said.
"Estelle needs help?" Piper turned around now a note of worry in her voice.
"No, fairy, smaller but my daughter is one right now," Prue said, "And she's scared. Piper please, try to see the trolls."
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Piper said upon seeing a doorway.
"They're climbing everywhere, how can you not see them?" Phoebe asked.
"Maybe she needs to see Estelle first like we did." Upon see Estelle they had realized the fairies they saw when they were children were real. They need not anymore proof. Hopefully the same would hold true for Piper. It took a while to convince Piper to return to the Manor. It wasn't until they acted like sugar hyped up children till she agreed to at least go outside.
"You have to come see Estelle."
"You said she's fine."
"But, she isn't. Not really. She's been traumatized," Phoebe said and Prue cringed at the word choice.
"And you left her at the Manor alone? What if she tries to hurt herself?"
"Estelle wouldn't. In her mind she has a job to do, she wouldn't hurt herself," Prue said quickly.
"Let's go, just in case," Piper said grabbing her coat from P3.
I put on the dress I made, blue fabric and handed a purple dress to Thistle. She first denied it but I told her it would make her look more like me and the demons may leave us alone. The miniature Manor, as I called it now, had become suddenly very cold. All fae, whether pixies, fairies, or ones like me didn't like the cold. Especially fire fae. I started a fire in the fire place in the living room and peaked out the window. There were demons trying to freeze us out but Thistle and I stayed warm. I made us tea surprised at how well the kitchen was stocked. I had been flipping through the small Book of Shadows but had found nothing to help us. I started working on cloaks to hide our wings if the demons broke through. The cloaks were done soon and Thistle put it on.
"I don't like it. I don't like hiding my wings," she spat like a child.
"Thistle, how old are you?" I asked curious.
"I turned 600 last month," she said proudly like a six year old.
"What is that equivalent to in human years?"
"Um, 16," she said, "I think. I doesn't matter. I rule my people, age doesn't matter." It did not, I agreed.
"It's just you act like a child sometimes. You hang out with children, yes because they can see you but why don't you move to a different realm? To live with your own?"
"I do not act like a child! I act normally. So I turned you into a fairy now your mom and aunt can see me and trolls. Moving into another realm is difficult. There are too many in-betweens. Maybe when the Charmed Ones complete their destiny, whatever that is, we can move. I had no clue what their destiny was and neither did they. I got a lot colder and my fire went out. They were freezing the crystal cage now. I did my best creating fires but the cold was too much for me. I felt myself go dizzy.
"Maybe we should go rest, until my mom and aunts get here. The demons can't hurt us, and we can stay warm under all the blankets. We did stay warm and my body still radiated heat. I fell asleep and it wasn't for another two hours until the sisters returned. They quickly vanquished the demons. Thistle and I awoke and aunt Piper and my mom gasped. My skin had turned faintly blue. I was that cold. I set a fire and returned to normal.
"Nothing to worry about mother, I'm fine." She didn't want to hear that I was fine. She wanted an explanation.
"It happens every now and then, like when I fell into the river last winter in Camelot. But I'm okay. Sort of. I want to be my normal size again. I got cold so quickly because I was small. Thistle's okay, I'm just elemental." In other words I was different. My still worried but she soon focused on the task at hand. Kate was over, as there was no school on Saturday. She explained to my mom and aunts everything.
The trolls wanted Thistle's crown, they wanted her power over her kingdom. I learned from Thistle that her crown also worked as a key, to her kingdom. It was in a different realm but trolls now guarded it and denied her access. I wanted to help her. I would help her but I was still stuck at this size, most likely all day.
I would be normal again once the 'mission' was over as Thistle called it. My mom wanted me and Thistle to still stay in the miniature Manor. So we were placed in Gideon's office at Magic School. I wasn't too thrilled with the looks I got from peering students as my mom walked down the hallway with my cupped in her hands. Phoebe held Thistle and Piper held the doll house. Kate walked beside them. Everyone assumed she had powers and other children greeted her with smiles and hellos.
I really disliked being in Gideon's office whether it was because I was in trouble or because I was being kept safe. Thistle seemed to like it. I told her this is where I went to school and then I had to explain what school was. Thistle seemed amazed at the concept and thought about enforcing it to children in her kingdom.
She went on and on about how her children and others would learn and prepare how to live life as an adult fairy. I nearly laughed at this as all adult fairies did was play trickery on mortal adults or entertain mortal children. Plus you could hardly tell adult and children fairies apart. Thistle was 600, and only sixteen in mortal years. So she, like me wasn't technically an adult, not in this world. I asked her what constituted an adult and she said she was one. That answered my question. I was adult according to Fae and those who lived in Camelot. My mom and aunts left and once more I was stuck with Thistle. I then managed to escape from the prison I called the miniature Manor.
